  • This is an aggregated institutional repository that allows the querying and use of nearly 9,000 items located in 26 separate departmental repositories. An RSS feed is available to notify people of newly added relevant content. A certain level of encryption and security is embedded in some subsections of this site which may cause some users accessibility issues, but this is only a minor concern. The main site interface is in English, although the individual sites that are aggregated to create this one do not all adhere to this as their principle language.

  • A subject based repository of life sciences journal literature as well as materials deposited by individual authors. This is an extensive and expansive resource for researchers in the bioscience, biotech and biomedical related disciplines. The citations database PubMed links to full-text materials within PMC. Thanks to a NLM digitisation activity older journal content is being made freely available, back to the early 1900s in some cases. Currently 250 journal titles are included within the site. It is possible to register for an update email to ensure notification when new journals are added to the PMC collections. The size value given is the number of author submitted manuscripts.

  • Apollo is the institutional repository of the University of Cambridge, managed by the Open Research Systems team based in Cambridge University Library. The Repository is committed to store and preserve the University’s research outputs. Research outputs can include, but are not limited to, publications, conference proceedings, book chapters, monographs, theses, various forms of research data (video recordings, spreadsheets, computational scripts, code, images etc.), presentations and others.

  • This is a subject based repository, that mirrors the data held on the PubMed Central site. Since 2010, the service diversified from PMC and introduced additional content including PubMed abstracts and biological patents. In addition this site acts as an Open Access repository for peer-reviewed research from researchers who have been funded by the Europe PMC Funders Group - submitted via the Europe PMC Manuscript Submission System A range of supporting guidance and background information are available on this site.

  • King's Research Portal incorporates the institutional repository which contains the research outputs of Kings College London. Open access is provided to the full-text of some, but not all, articles, conference papers and thesis. The interface is in English.

  • This archive is an Institutional Repository for NERC Staff. It contains metadata and full text (where possible) for published papers, reports, maps and other outputs from four of the NERC Research Centres: the British Antarctic Survey, British Geological Survey, the Centre for Ecology & Hydrology and the National Oceanographic Centre. It is also accessible to Staff at NERC's Swindon Office. A RSS feed is available. NORA provides information on research outcomes for NERC's intramural research to the RCUK Gateway to Research system. Subject specialities are atmospheric science, earth science, earth observation, environmental maths and statistics, marine, polar, science based archaeology, technology and e-science, terrestrial and freshwater science. Not all items are available in full-text on this site, however they are linked to subscription based external sites. RSS and Atom feeds are available.
