    Authors: Herzog, Christoph;

    In dieser Arbeit wurde durch eine detaillierte Darstellung des Projektes „SuperC”, insbesondere der Bohrung „RWTH-1”, erstmalig am praktischen Beispiel die Vielschichtigkeit und die komplette Prozesskette eines tiefen Erdwärmeprojektes in öffentlicher Trägerschaft aufgezeigt. Dies beinhaltete im Wesentlichen die technischen, geologischen, kaufmännischen und juristischen Fragestellungen in der Planungs- und Realisierungsphase. Die Frage der vollständigen Nutzung einer geothermischen Lagerstätte vor dem Hintergrund des Bundesberggesetzes wurde ausführlich diskutiert. Die Notwendigkeit eines umfassenden geologischen Qualitätsmanagements vor, während und nach einer derartigen Bohrung wurde aufgezeigt; erste technische und geologische Ergebnisse des Projektes wurden aufgezeigt. Das „SuperC”-Projekt der RWTH Aachen bietet die Chance, für die nahe Zukunft ein Zeichen zur Nutzung heimischer erneuerbarer Energiequellen zu setzen und der Bevölkerung die praktische Realisierung Schritt für Schritt zu demonstrieren. In seiner Funktion als zentrales Service-Center und als Portal der Hochschule wird das „SuperC” ein Ort der Kommunikation sein, durch den auch langfristig einem breiten Publikum die Nutzbarkeit von Erdwärme unmittelbar vor Augen geführt wird. Darüber hinaus besteht die einmalige Chance ingenieur- und geowissenschaftliche Forschung an einem Leuchtturmprojekt dauerhaft öffentlichkeitswirksam darzustellen und so die Entwicklung der Geothermie in Deutschland und Europa positiv zu beeinflussen. In this doctoral thesis a detailed report about and a critical evaluation of the geothermal project "SuperC" and especially the well "RWTH-1" showed the wide range of a deep geothermal project run by a public administration. This mainly contained the technical, geological, economical and juristic tasks during the planning and realization stage. The use of a geothermal resource concerning the demand of resource protection in the German mining law was discussed. The necessity of a geological quality management before, during and after the drilling job was pointed out. First technical and geological project results were presented. The "SuperC"-project of RWTH Aachen University offers the unique possibility of demonstrating the use of renewable energies to a wide audience. The practical realization can be shown step by step. Due to its purposes as central service-center and as a kind of portal for the university the "SuperC" will be a location of communication where the use of geothermal energy will be transferred to a wide public for quite a long time. Furthermore there is a great chance to show the research activities of engineers and geoscientists in such an outstanding project and by this to support the development of geothermal energy in Germany and Europe.

    Authors: Graeber, Bernhard;

    Die meisten Staaten im südlichen Afrika haben versucht, ein weitgehend autarkes Elektrizitätssystem aufzubauen. Mit der zunehmenden Demokratisierung und dem politischen Willen zur Zusammenarbeit innerhalb der Southern African Development Community (SADC) hat sich die Planungsperspektive jedoch gewandelt, und eine grenzübergreifende Zusammenarbeit ist möglich geworden. Die sich ergänzenden Energieressourcen in der SADC-Region (Wasserkraft im Norden und fossile Energieträger im Süden) lassen eine solche Zusammenarbeit sehr vorteilhaft erscheinen. Grundlegende Fragestellung dieser Arbeit ist daher, wie die Vorteile einer langfristigen, grenzübergreifenden Planung eines Elektrizitätssystems quantifiziert werden können. Eine gesellschaftliche Planungsperspektive wird hierbei zugrunde gelegt, da es nicht um die Gewinnmaximierung eines einzelnen Unternehmens geht, sondern die Gesamtinteressen einer aus mehreren Staaten zusammengesetzten Weltregion im Vordergrund stehen. Neben Kostenkriterien ist daher eine Berücksichtigung weiterer Aspekte (wie z.B. Umweltauswirkungen durch die Elektrizitätserzeugung) bei der Planung erforderlich. Ausgehend von dieser Fragestellung wurde ein gemischt-ganzzahliges lineares Optimierungsmodell aufgestellt, das eine grenzübergreifende kombinierte Kraftwerks- und Netzausbauplanung ermöglicht. Nationale Sicherheitsaspekte und Importbeschränkungen können ebenso Berücksichtigung finden wie quantifizierbare externe Effekte (z.B. CO2-Emissionen). Für mehrere Szenarien wurden Optimierungsrechnungen für das Elektrizitätssystem im südlichen Afrika durchgeführt, wobei die nächsten 20 Jahre als Modellierungszeitraum gewählt wurden. Die Anwendbarkeit und Lösbarkeit des entwickelten Modells konnte somit unter Beweis gestellt werden. Ergebnis der Fallstudie ist u.a., daß sich durch eine verstärkte grenzübergreifende Zusammenarbeit die gesamten Systemkosten um ca. 5 Prozent reduzieren lassen. Weiterhin konnte das Vermeidungspotential für CO2-Emissionen abgeschätzt werden. Geht man von externen Kosten in ...

    Authors: Gebauer, Matthias;

    This dissertation deals with the optimal implementation of the energy transition in Germany. The evaluation of the specified expansion path for renewable energies is intended to provide information as to whether the efforts of the federal government are sufficient to achieve the goals of the Paris climate agreement. The evaluation tools designed for this dissertation are able to evaluate the specified additional amounts of the EEG 2021, to design storage concepts with which the producible amounts of electricity can be used in the best possible way and to compare the available energy with the necessary measures to achieve the Paris climate agreement. The result of this evaluation has shown that with the current expansion obligation, gross electricity consumption can be completely covered by renewable energies by 2050, but the excess electricity quantities that are not consumed in the electricity sector are not sufficient to cover 60 percent of the final energy requirement from renewable electricity. One of the government's targets is to reduce final energy consumption by 50 percent by 2050 compared to 2008 levels. Assuming that this project can be implemented, around 1270 terawatt hours (TWh) of energy will be required to supply all sectors of Germany. This contrasts with a maximum power generation of 620 TWh from regenerative generators. Even if this energy could be consumed without losses, only about 48 percent of the final energy consumption could be covered by renewable energies. If the expected efficiency losses are taken into account, around 950 TWh are required to be able to cover the final energy consumption as planned. In order for this energy to be generated by 2050, an improved expansion path is needed, which requires, among other things, the expansion of 125 gigawatts (GW) of onshore wind capacity, 100 GW of offshore wind capacity and 255 GW of PV system capacity. This corresponds to an increase of around 43 GW onshore, 47 GW offshore and 73 GW PV capacity, so a significant adjustment of the EEG 2021 is required that should be implemented immediately. In order for the generation plants to be set up to be used to the best possible extent, battery storage and power-to-gas technologies must also be installed in order to store energy that is not directly consumed and transfer it to other sectors. In order for the entire amount of electricity to be able to be purchased with the current expansion path, a total of around 150 GW of power-to-gas plants must be installed. A clear adjustment of the current efforts regarding the implementation of the energy transition on the part of business and politics is required. Der jährlich erscheinende Umweltbericht der TU Berlin liegt nun für 2013 vor. In bewährter Struktur ist er wieder in Forschung und Lehre einerseits und in Infrastruktur und Betrieb andererseits gegliedert. Er trägt zur transparenten Darstellung von Umweltauswirkungen und Maßnahmen zur Verminderung und Vermeidung bei, spricht aber ebenso kritische Sachverhalte und Handlungsbedarf an. Ein umfangreicher Statistikanhang ist ebenso Bestandteil. Viel Freude und Erkenntnis bei der Lektüre. Der Umweltbericht der TU Berlin erscheint mit Lücken bereits seit 1995. Ziel war eine transparente Darstellung der Umweltauswirkungen der Universität sowie ein Blick auf nachhaltigkeitsorientierte Forschung und Lehre. Im Jahre 1997 wurden die Umweltleitlinien der TU Berlin veröffentlicht und seit 1999 erfolgt die Veröffentlichung des Umweltberichts auf Beschluss des Kuratoriums der TU Berlin.

    Authors: Radtke, Jörg; Saßmannshausen, Sheree May; Bohn, Nino;

    In diesem Working Report werden Ergebnisse einer Umfrage in Nordrhein-Westfalen präsentiert, die Einstellungen der Bevölkerung zur Windenergie widerspiegeln. Die Abfragen zeigen, dass Klimaschutz-Maßnahmen, die Energiewende und der Ausbau der Windkraft große Zustimmung bei der Bevölkerung finden. Bei der Windenergie wird ein Nutzen für die lokale Gemeinschaft präferiert, bestenfalls durch direkten Bezug günstigen Stroms. Im Falle der Planung neuer Windparks werden detaillierte Informationen gewünscht, wobei wissenschaftlichen Informationsquellen am stärksten vertraut wird. Klassische Informationsveranstaltungen werden überwiegend bevorzugt, sehr viel weniger Online-Formate. Die Hälfte der Befragten würde eine Visualisierungs-App für das Smartphone benutzen. Finanzielle Beteiligung wird zwar stark von monetären Anreizen oder einem vergünstigen Stromtarif abhängig gemacht, wird aber auch durch Klimaschutz-Einstellungen beeinflusst. Planungskonflikte sollten durch Bürgerentscheide, Experten oder Bürgerversammlungen gelöst werden. Damit unterstreichen die Ergebnisse die Bedeutung von qualitätsvoller Informierung, Beteiligung und Neutralität für die Akzeptanz von Windenergie. ; This Working Report presents results of a survey in North Rhine-Westphalia reflecting attitudes of the population towards wind energy. The survey shows that climate protection measures, the Energiewende and the expansion of wind power meet with great approval among the population. In the case of wind energy, a benefit for the local community is preferred, at best through direct purchase of cheap electricity. In the case of planning new wind farms, detailed information is desired, with scientific information sources being trusted most. Typical information events are preferred, much less online formats. Half of the respondents would use a visualization app for smartphones. Financial participation, while strongly dependent on monetary incentives or a discounted electricity tariff, is also influenced by climate protection attitudes. Planning ...

    Authors: Kirschbaum, Stefan;

    Ziel dieser Arbeit ist die Entwicklung eines Werkzeugs, das es sowohl Energieberatern als auch den produzierenden Unternehmen selbst ermöglichen soll, den Produktionsprozess und das daran gekoppelte Energieversorgungssystem rechnergestützt zu analysieren. Dieses Werkzeug wird an das sogenannte TOP-Energy Framework angebunden. Es setzt sich zusammen aus dem Simulator eProc und mehreren Analysemodulen zur Bewertung der Energiesysteme. Der Fokus dieses Tools liegt dabei nicht auf der Planung neuer, sondern auf der Analyse und Bewertung bestehender Produktionsprozesse. Das Werkzeug bietet dem Anwender die Möglichkeit, aus bereits vorbereiteten Prozessschritten Modelle von Prozessketten mit Hilfe einer grafischen Oberfläche zu synthetisieren oder mit Hilfe einer Modellbeschreibungssprache neue Prozessschritte zu modellieren. Der eProc-Simulator dient dazu, unbekannte Systemgrößen zu berechnen und unterstützt den Anwender außerdem bei der Datenaufnahme. Die Analysemethoden ermöglichen es dem Anwender, Schwachstellen der bestehenden Prozesskette zu identifizieren, Varianten zu entwickeln und diese miteinander zu vergleichen. Aus den verschiedenen Varianten können dann konkrete Maßnahmen abgeleitet werden. Die vorgestellten Methoden werden an Praxisbeispielen evaluiert, in denen gezeigt werden kann, dass das vorgestellte Verfahren den Anforderungen der Praxis genügt. Als Beispiele dienen die Frischmilchherstellung in einer Molkerei und die Herstellung von Hygienepapier in einer Papierfabrik. The aim of this work is to develop a tool that will allow both energy consultants as well as the manufacturing companies themselves, to analyze production process and the tied energy system. The tool is linked to the so-called TOP-Energy Framework. It consists of the simulator eProc and several analysis modules for evaluating energy systems. The focus of this tool is not on the planning of new, but on the analysis and evaluation of existing production processes. The tool provides the user with the ability to synthesize models of process chains from pre-prepared models of process step using a graphical user interface and a modeling language. The simulator eProc is used to calculate unknown system values and assists the user in the data inquiry. The analytical methods allow the user to identify weaknesses in the existing process chain to develop variants. Specific measures can be derived from the different simulations of variants. The methods are evaluated on real-life examples. It can be shown where that the proposed method satisfies the requirements of practice. Examples serve the fresh milk in a dairy production and the production of tissue paper in a paper mill.

    Klimawandelbedingte Wetteränderungen führen oftmals zur Verringerung der Vitalität von Bäumen. Mehrere Hauptbaumarten haben deshalb ein gesteigertes Gefährdungspotenzial. Dadurch steigt der Bedarf an kostengünstigen, rasch durchführbaren Methoden zum großflächigen Monitoring von Waldflächen. Das Projekt »VitTree« untersucht, in welchem Ausmaß und ab welchem Zeitpunkt Veränderungen der Vitalität von Bäumen mittels Fernerkundung erfasst warden können. Das Ziel derartiger Methoden ist es, möglichst frühzeitig solche Veränderungen zu diagnostizieren, idealerweise noch bevor diese für das menschliche Auge im Gelände erkennbar sind.

    Authors: Herzog, Christoph;

    Authors: Graeber, Bernhard;

    Die meisten Staaten im südlichen Afrika haben versucht, ein weitgehend autarkes Elektrizitätssystem aufzubauen. Mit der zunehmenden Demokratisierung und dem politischen Willen zur Zusammenarbeit innerhalb der Southern African Development Community (SADC) hat sich die Planungsperspektive jedoch gewandelt, und eine grenzübergreifende Zusammenarbeit ist möglich geworden. Die sich ergänzenden Energieressourcen in der SADC-Region (Wasserkraft im Norden und fossile Energieträger im Süden) lassen eine solche Zusammenarbeit sehr vorteilhaft erscheinen. Grundlegende Fragestellung dieser Arbeit ist daher, wie die Vorteile einer langfristigen, grenzübergreifenden Planung eines Elektrizitätssystems quantifiziert werden können. Eine gesellschaftliche Planungsperspektive wird hierbei zugrunde gelegt, da es nicht um die Gewinnmaximierung eines einzelnen Unternehmens geht, sondern die Gesamtinteressen einer aus mehreren Staaten zusammengesetzten Weltregion im Vordergrund stehen. Neben Kostenkriterien ist daher eine Berücksichtigung weiterer Aspekte (wie z.B. Umweltauswirkungen durch die Elektrizitätserzeugung) bei der Planung erforderlich. Ausgehend von dieser Fragestellung wurde ein gemischt-ganzzahliges lineares Optimierungsmodell aufgestellt, das eine grenzübergreifende kombinierte Kraftwerks- und Netzausbauplanung ermöglicht. Nationale Sicherheitsaspekte und Importbeschränkungen können ebenso Berücksichtigung finden wie quantifizierbare externe Effekte (z.B. CO2-Emissionen). Für mehrere Szenarien wurden Optimierungsrechnungen für das Elektrizitätssystem im südlichen Afrika durchgeführt, wobei die nächsten 20 Jahre als Modellierungszeitraum gewählt wurden. Die Anwendbarkeit und Lösbarkeit des entwickelten Modells konnte somit unter Beweis gestellt werden. Ergebnis der Fallstudie ist u.a., daß sich durch eine verstärkte grenzübergreifende Zusammenarbeit die gesamten Systemkosten um ca. 5 Prozent reduzieren lassen. Weiterhin konnte das Vermeidungspotential für CO2-Emissionen abgeschätzt werden. Geht man von externen Kosten in ...

    Authors: Gebauer, Matthias;

    Authors: Radtke, Jörg; Saßmannshausen, Sheree May; Bohn, Nino;

    In diesem Working Report werden Ergebnisse einer Umfrage in Nordrhein-Westfalen präsentiert, die Einstellungen der Bevölkerung zur Windenergie widerspiegeln. Die Abfragen zeigen, dass Klimaschutz-Maßnahmen, die Energiewende und der Ausbau der Windkraft große Zustimmung bei der Bevölkerung finden. Bei der Windenergie wird ein Nutzen für die lokale Gemeinschaft präferiert, bestenfalls durch direkten Bezug günstigen Stroms. Im Falle der Planung neuer Windparks werden detaillierte Informationen gewünscht, wobei wissenschaftlichen Informationsquellen am stärksten vertraut wird. Klassische Informationsveranstaltungen werden überwiegend bevorzugt, sehr viel weniger Online-Formate. Die Hälfte der Befragten würde eine Visualisierungs-App für das Smartphone benutzen. Finanzielle Beteiligung wird zwar stark von monetären Anreizen oder einem vergünstigen Stromtarif abhängig gemacht, wird aber auch durch Klimaschutz-Einstellungen beeinflusst. Planungskonflikte sollten durch Bürgerentscheide, Experten oder Bürgerversammlungen gelöst werden. Damit unterstreichen die Ergebnisse die Bedeutung von qualitätsvoller Informierung, Beteiligung und Neutralität für die Akzeptanz von Windenergie. ; This Working Report presents results of a survey in North Rhine-Westphalia reflecting attitudes of the population towards wind energy. The survey shows that climate protection measures, the Energiewende and the expansion of wind power meet with great approval among the population. In the case of wind energy, a benefit for the local community is preferred, at best through direct purchase of cheap electricity. In the case of planning new wind farms, detailed information is desired, with scientific information sources being trusted most. Typical information events are preferred, much less online formats. Half of the respondents would use a visualization app for smartphones. Financial participation, while strongly dependent on monetary incentives or a discounted electricity tariff, is also influenced by climate protection attitudes. Planning ...

    Authors: Kirschbaum, Stefan;

    Ziel dieser Arbeit ist die Entwicklung eines Werkzeugs, das es sowohl Energieberatern als auch den produzierenden Unternehmen selbst ermöglichen soll, den Produktionsprozess und das daran gekoppelte Energieversorgungssystem rechnergestützt zu analysieren. Dieses Werkzeug wird an das sogenannte TOP-Energy Framework angebunden. Es setzt sich zusammen aus dem Simulator eProc und mehreren Analysemodulen zur Bewertung der Energiesysteme. Der Fokus dieses Tools liegt dabei nicht auf der Planung neuer, sondern auf der Analyse und Bewertung bestehender Produktionsprozesse. Das Werkzeug bietet dem Anwender die Möglichkeit, aus bereits vorbereiteten Prozessschritten Modelle von Prozessketten mit Hilfe einer grafischen Oberfläche zu synthetisieren oder mit Hilfe einer Modellbeschreibungssprache neue Prozessschritte zu modellieren. Der eProc-Simulator dient dazu, unbekannte Systemgrößen zu berechnen und unterstützt den Anwender außerdem bei der Datenaufnahme. Die Analysemethoden ermöglichen es dem Anwender, Schwachstellen der bestehenden Prozesskette zu identifizieren, Varianten zu entwickeln und diese miteinander zu vergleichen. Aus den verschiedenen Varianten können dann konkrete Maßnahmen abgeleitet werden. Die vorgestellten Methoden werden an Praxisbeispielen evaluiert, in denen gezeigt werden kann, dass das vorgestellte Verfahren den Anforderungen der Praxis genügt. Als Beispiele dienen die Frischmilchherstellung in einer Molkerei und die Herstellung von Hygienepapier in einer Papierfabrik. The aim of this work is to develop a tool that will allow both energy consultants as well as the manufacturing companies themselves, to analyze production process and the tied energy system. The tool is linked to the so-called TOP-Energy Framework. It consists of the simulator eProc and several analysis modules for evaluating energy systems. The focus of this tool is not on the planning of new, but on the analysis and evaluation of existing production processes. The tool provides the user with the ability to synthesize models of process chains from pre-prepared models of process step using a graphical user interface and a modeling language. The simulator eProc is used to calculate unknown system values and assists the user in the data inquiry. The analytical methods allow the user to identify weaknesses in the existing process chain to develop variants. Specific measures can be derived from the different simulations of variants. The methods are evaluated on real-life examples. It can be shown where that the proposed method satisfies the requirements of practice. Examples serve the fresh milk in a dairy production and the production of tissue paper in a paper mill.

    Klimawandelbedingte Wetteränderungen führen oftmals zur Verringerung der Vitalität von Bäumen. Mehrere Hauptbaumarten haben deshalb ein gesteigertes Gefährdungspotenzial. Dadurch steigt der Bedarf an kostengünstigen, rasch durchführbaren Methoden zum großflächigen Monitoring von Waldflächen. Das Projekt »VitTree« untersucht, in welchem Ausmaß und ab welchem Zeitpunkt Veränderungen der Vitalität von Bäumen mittels Fernerkundung erfasst warden können. Das Ziel derartiger Methoden ist es, möglichst frühzeitig solche Veränderungen zu diagnostizieren, idealerweise noch bevor diese für das menschliche Auge im Gelände erkennbar sind.
