    Two types of wind lidar?s have become available for ground-based vertical mean wind and turbulence profiling. A continuous wave (CW) wind lidar, and a pulsed wind lidar. Although they both are build upon the same recent 1.55 μ telecom fibre technology, they possess fundamental differences between their temporal and spatial resolution capabilities. A literature review of the two lidar systems spatial and temporal resolution characteristics will be presented, and the implication for the two lidar types vertical profile measurements of mean wind and turbulence in the lower atmospheric boundary layer will be discussed.

Ahead of these pivotal meetings, we—the editors of health journals worldwide—call for urgent action to keep average global temperature increases below 1.5°C, halt the destruction of nature and protect health. Health is already being harmed by global temperature increases and the destruction of the natural world, a state of affairs health professionals have been bringing attention to for decades.1 The science is unequivocal; a global increase of 1.5°C above the preindustrial average and the continued loss of biodiversity risk catastrophic harm to health that will be impossible to reverse.2 3 Despite the world's necessary preoccupation with COVID-19, we cannot wait for the pandemic to pass to rapidly reduce emissions. Reflecting the severity of the moment, this editorial appears in health journals across the world. We are united in recognising that only fundamental and equitable changes to societies will reverse our current trajectory. The risks to health of increases above 1.5°C are now well established.2 Indeed, no temperature rise is 'safe'.     We model the retail market with dynamic pricing as a Stackelberg game where both retailers (leaders) and flexible consumers (followers) solve an economic cost-minimization problem. The electricity retailer optimizes an economic objective over a daily horizon by setting an hourly price-sequence, which is then communicated to the end-consumers. In turn, on the basis of such price sequence, consumers optimize a utility function that accounts both for energy procurement costs and for the benefit loss resulting from deferring consumption. The game is formulated as a Mathematical Problem with Equilibrium Constraints (MPEC) and cast as a Mixed Integer Linear Program (MILP), which can be solved using off-the-shelf optimization software. In an illustrative example, we consider a retailer associated with both flexible demand and wind power production. Such an example shows the efficiency of dynamic pricing as a way to control the load for minimizing the imbalances due to wind power, assesses the overall economic results for the retailer and the consumers as well as the dynamic properties of consumer flexibility.

    This report presents an analysis of sensors data leading to an initial assessment of the power performance from sea trails of the DEXA D05 Wave Energy Converter (WEC). The sea trails where performed approx. 1 nautical mile offshore from Hanstholm, Denmark during 2011. The converter was 1:5 scale model of the planned full scale DEXA WEC with a hydraulic Power Take Off (PTO). The converter had sensors to measure mooring forces, motions, as well as pressure and displacement sensors in the PTOs. The report gives the calculated power production efficiency and an analysis of the mooring forces. The DEXA D05 WEC was built, deployed and operated by the client DEXAWAVE ApS and the analysis of the sensor data, given here, has been carried out by John Lavelle under supervision by Jens Peter Kofoed in the Wave Energy Research Group at the department of Civil Engineering, Aalborg University (AAU).

    Purpose: Sustainability is one of the major key terms in our modern globalized world affected by such different but nevertheless closely interrelated issues like prosperity of worldwide trade, globally-spanning supply chains, the growing social gap and the threatening effects of climate change. The paper shows how responsible citizenship and reflective critical thinking as well as a deeper understanding of these complex interdependencies can be conveyed in a systematic way to a group of international business students in form of a one-week block seminar course in the CEMS Master-in-International-Management (MIM) program.Design/methodology/approach: The paper includes a discussion of proven course design, general key skills fostered, didactic approaches and methods employed along with feedback mechanisms and evaluation results demonstrating clearly its impact on student’s mind sets afterwards.Findings: Based on the discussions with our students and post-course reflective reports it turned out, that for many of them their perception of sustainability issues and of their own behaviour has changed during this single week because of the topics dealt with in our course.Practical implications: A well thought-out didactic approach and extraordinary commitment and dedication by the instructors is inevitable to ensure the success of such a course.Original/value: This paper explains in a compact way, how sustainability issues in global supply chain management can be tackled successfully even in such time restricted one-week block seminar.     A key topic of the European CL‐Windcon project, and specifically WP1 of the project, is the accurate modelling of wind turbine and wind farm dynamics at a varying range of fidelities. Hence, this document describes the different numerical models employed throughout the project and presents their arrangement and fidelity classification based on the different capabilities, limitations and complexity of their underlying physics. The description of the four categories selected: steady‐state models, control‐oriented dynamical models, medium‐fidelity simulation models, and high‐fidelity simulation models is included and discussed in the document.

    In food, chemical and pharmaceutical industries, regular cleaning of the equipment is required to guarantee hygienic production. Modern facilities use automated Cleaning-in-Place systems due to their reliability and reduction of manual operations. However, these systems and their cleaning routines are specially designed for each facility, equipment type and production schedule. Hence, detailed information about the energy consumption of the system is often unavailable. This work presents a method to determine the energy use of a Cleaning-in-Place system based on available data of the recorded cleaning routines. The case study was based on a heating in line, decentralised and re-use cleaning unit located in a dairy factory. The measured data of two cleaning lines of the unit was used to develop energy and mass balances in order to identify and quantify the sources and sinks of mass and thermal energy. The energy analysis showed that 68.96 MWh of steam was consumed during a period of 50 days, of which 76 % was dedicated to heating up the base solution. Besides, a total amount of 788 m3 of water was drained between the two lines, which corresponds to 20.19 MWh of thermal energy consumption. The indicators of the energy management software of the system were used to assess the method as well as the inefficiencies of the system.

    The main aim of the Horizon Europe Fit4Micro Project is to develop a microCHCP unit running on sustainable liquid biofuels. The application of this unit is foreseen at multi-family houses and at remote or off-grid locations. This technology will lead to very high electrical efficiencies (>40%) and a flexible heat/power ratio. Moreover, the usage of a truly advanced and RED II compliant biofuel will guarantee a high GHG emission reduction. This flexible hybrid energy system is based on a double-shaft micro gas turbine (mGT) combined with a novel humidification unit, and will be able to provide renewable heating, cooling and power production, mainly for domestic usage. The Fit4Micro solution contributes to make Europe the first enabled circular, climate-neutral and sustainable economy.     Two types of wind lidar?s have become available for ground-based vertical mean wind and turbulence profiling. A continuous wave (CW) wind lidar, and a pulsed wind lidar. Although they both are build upon the same recent 1.55 μ telecom fibre technology, they possess fundamental differences between their temporal and spatial resolution capabilities. A literature review of the two lidar systems spatial and temporal resolution characteristics will be presented, and the implication for the two lidar types vertical profile measurements of mean wind and turbulence in the lower atmospheric boundary layer will be discussed.

Ahead of these pivotal meetings, we—the editors of health journals worldwide—call for urgent action to keep average global temperature increases below 1.5°C, halt the destruction of nature and protect health.     We model the retail market with dynamic pricing as a Stackelberg game where both retailers (leaders) and flexible consumers (followers) solve an economic cost-minimization problem. The electricity retailer optimizes an economic objective over a daily horizon by setting an hourly price-sequence, which is then communicated to the end-consumers. In turn, on the basis of such price sequence, consumers optimize a utility function that accounts both for energy procurement costs and for the benefit loss resulting from deferring consumption. The game is formulated as a Mathematical Problem with Equilibrium Constraints (MPEC) and cast as a Mixed Integer Linear Program (MILP), which can be solved using off-the-shelf optimization software. In an illustrative example, we consider a retailer associated with both flexible demand and wind power production. Such an example shows the efficiency of dynamic pricing as a way to control the load for minimizing the imbalances due to wind power, assesses the overall economic results for the retailer and the consumers as well as the dynamic properties of consumer flexibility.

    This report presents an analysis of sensors data leading to an initial assessment of the power performance from sea trails of the DEXA D05 Wave Energy Converter (WEC). The sea trails where performed approx. 1 nautical mile offshore from Hanstholm, Denmark during 2011. The converter was 1:5 scale model of the planned full scale DEXA WEC with a hydraulic Power Take Off (PTO). The converter had sensors to measure mooring forces, motions, as well as pressure and displacement sensors in the PTOs. The report gives the calculated power production efficiency and an analysis of the mooring forces. The DEXA D05 WEC was built, deployed and operated by the client DEXAWAVE ApS and the analysis of the sensor data, given here, has been carried out by John Lavelle under supervision by Jens Peter Kofoed in the Wave Energy Research Group at the department of Civil Engineering, Aalborg University (AAU).

    This report presents an analysis of sensors data leading to an initial assessment of the power performance from sea trails of the DEXA D05 Wave Energy Converter (WEC). The sea trails where performed approx. 1 nautical mile offshore from Hanstholm, Denmark during 2011. The converter was 1:5 scale model of the planned full scale DEXA WEC with a hydraulic Power Take Off (PTO). The converter had sensors to measure mooring forces, motions, as well as pressure and displacement sensors in the PTOs. The report gives the calculated power production efficiency and an analysis of the mooring forces. The DEXA D05 WEC was built, deployed and operated by the client DEXAWAVE ApS and the analysis of the sensor data, given here, has been carried out by John Lavelle under supervision by Jens Peter Kofoed in the Wave Energy Research Group at the department of Civil Engineering, Aalborg University (AAU).

    Purpose: Sustainability is one of the major key terms in our modern globalized world affected by such different but nevertheless closely interrelated issues like prosperity of worldwide trade, globally-spanning supply chains, the growing social gap and the threatening effects of climate change. The paper shows how responsible citizenship and reflective critical thinking as well as a deeper understanding of these complex interdependencies can be conveyed in a systematic way to a group of international business students in form of a one-week block seminar course in the CEMS Master-in-International-Management (MIM) program.Design/methodology/approach: The paper includes a discussion of proven course design, general key skills fostered, didactic approaches and methods employed along with feedback mechanisms and evaluation results demonstrating clearly its impact on student’s mind sets afterwards.Findings: Based on the discussions with our students and post-course reflective reports it turned out, that for many of them their perception of sustainability issues and of their own behaviour has changed during this single week because of the topics dealt with in our course.Practical implications: A well thought-out didactic approach and extraordinary commitment and dedication by the instructors is inevitable to ensure the success of such a course.Original/value: This paper explains in a compact way, how sustainability issues in global supply chain management can be tackled successfully even in such time restricted one-week block seminar. Purpose: Sustainability is one of the major key terms in our modern globalized world affected by such different but nevertheless closely interrelated issues like prosperity of worldwide trade, globally-spanning supply chains, the growing social gap and the threatening effects of climate change.     A key topic of the European CL‐Windcon project, and specifically WP1 of the project, is the accurate modelling of wind turbine and wind farm dynamics at a varying range of fidelities. Hence, this document describes the different numerical models employed throughout the project and presents their arrangement and fidelity classification based on the different capabilities, limitations and complexity of their underlying physics. The description of the four categories selected: steady‐state models, control‐oriented dynamical models, medium‐fidelity simulation models, and high‐fidelity simulation models is included and discussed in the document.

    In food, chemical and pharmaceutical industries, regular cleaning of the equipment is required to guarantee hygienic production. Modern facilities use automated Cleaning-in-Place systems due to their reliability and reduction of manual operations. However, these systems and their cleaning routines are specially designed for each facility, equipment type and production schedule. Hence, detailed information about the energy consumption of the system is often unavailable. This work presents a method to determine the energy use of a Cleaning-in-Place system based on available data of the recorded cleaning routines. The case study was based on a heating in line, decentralised and re-use cleaning unit located in a dairy factory. The measured data of two cleaning lines of the unit was used to develop energy and mass balances in order to identify and quantify the sources and sinks of mass and thermal energy. The energy analysis showed that 68.96 MWh of steam was consumed during a period of 50 days, of which 76 % was dedicated to heating up the base solution. Besides, a total amount of 788 m3 of water was drained between the two lines, which corresponds to 20.19 MWh of thermal energy consumption. The indicators of the energy management software of the system were used to assess the method as well as the inefficiencies of the system.

    The main aim of the Horizon Europe Fit4Micro Project is to develop a microCHCP unit running on sustainable liquid biofuels. The application of this unit is foreseen at multi-family houses and at remote or off-grid locations. This technology will lead to very high electrical efficiencies (>40%) and a flexible heat/power ratio. Moreover, the usage of a truly advanced and RED II compliant biofuel will guarantee a high GHG emission reduction. This flexible hybrid energy system is based on a double-shaft micro gas turbine (mGT) combined with a novel humidification unit, and will be able to provide renewable heating, cooling and power production, mainly for domestic usage.
