This technology will lead to very high electrical efficiencies (>40%) and a flexible heat/power ratio. Moreover, the usage of a truly advanced and RED II compliant biofuel will guarantee a high GHG emission reduction. This flexible hybrid energy system is based on a double-shaft micro gas turbine (mGT) combined with a novel humidification unit, and will be able to provide renewable heating, cooling and power production, mainly for domestic usage. The Fit4Micro solution contributes to make Europe the first enabled circular, climate-neutral and sustainable economy. Surface craters in the form of pinholes can form during the coating application process. The investigation is carried out by using finite element models of droplet impacts on surfaces with craters, where the impact velocity, droplet size, and crater position and size are varied. The simulations predict that the maximum strain is located at the crater walls and increases as the impact velocity and droplet size increase, and that craters closer to the central impact axis experience larger strains than craters placed farther away. The size of the crater was not predicted to have an influence on strains. The position of the maximum strain value was at the crater walls for all cases, and it was larger than for an impact on a flat surface. Observations from rain erosion tests suggest that some fractures initiate from pre-existing craters which act as weak points of otherwise highly resistant coatings.

The construction industry holds great potential for contributing to achieving the goals towards 2030. This study investigates the current state of implementation of the SDGs within the Danish construction industry, both on a strategic and project specific level. It provides insights into the barriers for implementation. A survey was distributed to actors within the construction industry and responded by 54 people, involving architects, engineers, building owners, contractors, suppliers and manufacturers, along with academic experts. The results indicate that 90% agree that the SDGs can add value to construction project, and 79% had implemented the SDGs on a strategic level. 45% had worked with the SDGs on a project level, where the goals 7 (clean and affordable energy), 12 (responsible consumption) and 13 (climate action) were most often applied. The main barriers to implementing the SDGs were a lack of measurability, time, and resources. The prioritization of goals was discussed in the light of previous research. This study provides valuable insights into the current state of implementation of the SDGs in the Danish construction industry and points towards the following directions for future research: 1) further development of tools and methods to support the actors within the construction industry, especially focusing on measurability and prioritization, 2) indepth investigation of the state of implementation of the SDGs for the different actors within the construction industry, and, lastly, 3) further studies on the challenges and barriers for implementing the goals within the construction industry.

The construction industry holds great potential for contributing to achieving the goals towards 2030. This study investigates the current state of implementation of the SDGs within the Danish construction industry, both on a strategic and project specific level. It provides insights into the barriers for implementation. A survey was distributed to actors within the construction industry and responded by 54 people, involving architects, engineers, building owners, contractors, suppliers and manufacturers, along with academic experts. The results indicate that 90% agree that the SDGs can add value to construction project, and 79% had implemented the SDGs on a strategic level. 45% had worked with the SDGs on a project level, where the goals 7 (clean and affordable energy), 12 (responsible consumption) and 13 (climate action) were most often applied. The main barriers to implementing the SDGs were a lack of measurability, time, and resources. The prioritization of goals was discussed in the light of previous research. This study provides valuable insights into the current state of implementation of the SDGs in the Danish construction industry and points towards the following directions for future research: 1) further development of tools and methods to support the actors within the construction industry, especially focusing on measurability and prioritization, 2) indepth investigation of the state of implementation of the SDGs for the different actors within the construction industry, and, lastly, 3) further studies on the challenges and barriers for implementing the goals within the construction industry.

The case brings forward a real-life situation of an organization that is engaged in the exciting but also risky journey of implementing a green innovation at a large scale. The case is written in a way that allows students to reflect and think about the organizational and leadership challenges and opportunities involved. The teacher can activate these reflections in the context of various possible theoreyical and analytical frameworks, in a number of possible different courses. The case is about Exergi, the main utility company producing district heating in Stockholm. After successfully transitioning from coal to bio-energy sources, since 2020 Exergi has embarked on a new and far more ambitious venture: Bioenergy Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS). This technology captures CO2 emissions from biomass combustion and stores them, potentially resulting in negative emissions. BECCS plays a central role in IPCC mitigation pathways and Exergi has recognized an opportunity, but venturing into this uncharted territory presents numerous challenges. BECCS is a new and untested technology at an industrial scale, requiring substantial investments, and a market for selling carbon removal certificates (CRC) that does not exist yet. Though promising for reaching net zero targets in time, the viability of BECCS for Exergi depends on a supportive regulatory framework, cross-border cooperation, and the creation of a CRC market. To navigate these challenges, Exergi relies on creating an innovative organizational culture as well as mobilizing external stakeholders. Hence, CEO Anders Egelrudhas hired individuals with entrepreneurial mindsets, and sought external expertise as well as creating strong networks and communication approach. Yet, some internal tensions have also come to the fore, due to the rapid internal dynamics. Overall, Exergi's transition from coal to BECCS reflects the commitment to sustainable practices by an incumbent, and its willingnessto size new opportunities. The company's success driving this transformation forward hinges on many events coming together, both external and internal to the firm.

The present deliverable, D2.4, discusses additional environmental and social impacts of the measures included in the Energy-efficiency scenario. For each impact category, the causal mechanisms producing the impact are briefly described. For some of the impacts, quantitative assessments of the impacts compared to a business-as-usual trajectory have also been made. However, for most impact categories, only qualitative descriptions have been possible.
