description Publicationkeyboard_double_arrow_right Conference object 2017 SpainPublisher:Universidad de Sevilla. Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura. Authors: Amine Bouzidi, Mohamed; Tahakourt, Abdelkader; Bouzidi, Nedjima; Mercader-Moyano, Pilar (Coordinador); The objective of this work is to valorise the discharges (rejections) of the Boukhedra iron ore mine (east of Algeria) as raw materials for the elaboration of the cement raw. The study concerns the development of different types of low impact environmental belite cements whose raw are exclusively mine rejections. The use of a low CaO / SiO2 ratio and the combination of quick cooling of clinker with adequate NaF and LiF mineralization in association with CaSO4, has led to the production of belite cement with high hydraulic reactivity comparable to that of ordinary Portland cements. The used mineralization plays also a positive role in improving performance in terms of firing of the raw, by lowering the clinker process temperatures of these cements, thus, enabling an additional gain in terms of environmental impact and energy consumption. This mineralization and the low LSF of these cements allows obtaining them at low burning temperatures 1150 °C and 1100 °C for the cement with 2%LiF. This is 350 °C lower to ordinary Portland cement. The addition of CaSO4, NaF and LiF to the clinkers makes the improvement of its clinkering possible. The effect of LiF seems to be the most significant followed by NaF and finally, CaSO4

After a halt of four years, the n TOF spallation neutron facility at CERN has resumed operation in November 2008 with a new spallation target characterized by an improved safety and engineering design, resulting in a more robust overall performance and e cient cooling. The rst measurement during the 2009 run has aimed at the full characterization of the neutron beam. Several detectors, such as calibrated ssion chambers, the n TOF Silicon Monitor, a Mi- croMegas detector with 10B and 235U samples, as well as liquid and solid scintillators have been used in order to characterize the properties of the neutron uence. The spatial pro le of the beam has been studied with a specially designed \X-Y

Martínez-Chantar, María Luz in OpenAIREBackground and Aims: Alcohol-associated liver disease (ALD) accounts for 70% of liver-related deaths in Europe, with no effective approved therapies. Although mitochondrial dysfunction is one of the earliest manifestations of alcohol-induced injury, restoring mitochondrial activity remains a problematic strategy due to oxidative stress. Here, we identify methylation-controlled J protein (MCJ) as a mediator for ALD progression and hypothesize that targeting MCJ may help in recovering mitochondrial fitness without collateral oxidative damage. Approach and Results: C57BL/6 mice [wild-type (Wt)] Mcj knockout and Mcj liver-specific silencing (MCJ-LSS) underwent the NIAAA dietary protocol (Lieber-DeCarli diet containing 5% (vol/vol) ethanol for 10 days, plus a single binge ethanol feeding at day 11). To evaluate the impact of a restored mitochondrial activity in ALD, the liver, gut, and pancreas were characterized, focusing on lipid metabolism, glucose homeostasis, intestinal permeability, and microbiota composition. MCJ, a protein acting as an endogenous negative regulator of mitochondrial respiration, is downregulated in the early stages of ALD and increases with the severity of the disease. Whole-body deficiency of MCJ is detrimental during ALD because it exacerbates the systemic effects of alcohol abuse through altered intestinal permeability, increased endotoxemia, and dysregulation of pancreatic function, which overall worsens liver injury. On the other hand, liver-specific Mcj silencing prevents main ALD hallmarks, that is, mitochondrial dysfunction, steatosis, inflammation, and oxidative stress, as it restores the NAD+/NADH ratio and SIRT1 function, hence preventing de novo lipogenesis and improving lipid oxidation. Conclusions: Improving mitochondrial respiration by liver-specific Mcj silencing might become a novel therapeutic approach for treating ALD.

In particular, this study draws inspiration form the environmental case law on the rights of Nature and from a rising climate litigation wave that stands out for several prominent features, namely: the use of human rights and constitutional rights as a standard for assessing States’ compliance with their obligations under international human rights law and international environmental law; the narrative of intragenerational and intergenerational equity; a renewed reading of extraterritoriality. In this respect, the most significant domestic and international decisions are analyzed, and some viable ways in which the results achieved by the case law under consideration may benefit the protection of biodiversity and its justiciability are suggested, including multi-level judicial dialogue. Today, engineering for plant construction is accessible and new processes using agricultural residues and municipal solid wastes have reached a good degree of maturity and high conversion yields (almost 90% of polysaccharides are converted into monosaccharides ready for fermentation). For the complete success of the 2G technology, it is still necessary to overcome a number of limitations that prevent a first‐of‐a‐kind plant from operating at nominal capacity. We also claim that the triumph of 2G technology requires the development of favourable logistics to guarantee biomass supply and make all actors (farmers, investors, industrial entrepreneurs, government, others) aware that success relies on agreement advances. The growth of ethanol production for 2020 seems to be secured with a number of 2G plants, but public/private investments are still necessary to enable 2G technology to move on ahead from its very early stages to a more mature consolidated technology.

This energy bond or “social service bonus” includes energy costs: electricity and gas, telecommunications (Internet), as well as other supplies (water and discharge). The first thing that arises is the reduction of supply costs by optimizing the installation and contracting systems. We start from the data provided from the previous study on energy demand and the corresponding energy improvement and sustainability measures, in a public building of social housing in C / La María, in Seville. This study shows that it is possible to achieve energy self-sufficiency and improved comfort in an efficient and cost-effective way in the short term. Next, the reduction of costs by modifying the contracting systems and the study of the social bonuses offered by the different companies in the different supplies are studied. With the data obtained, it is proposed to create a “social bonus of services” where the total cost of them could be reduced from 80 to 90% of the current payment. Finally, it is proposed that the social bonus of services can have the same treatment as the rent, with a system of subsidy or bonus of the same depending on the family and income parameters of the tenants.

The main objective of this paper is to analyze the suitability of proposals for efficient systems to contribute to the energy rehabilitation of these homes, as well as to the improvement of the habitability and autonomy conditions of the irinhabitants. A block in the neighbourhood of San Pablo in Seville will be used as a case study. As methods, computer tools will be used for the design of these systems, ensuring their architectural integration at all times, in addition to the use of surveys to assess habitability conditions. Results are expected to allow the intervention proposals to be assessed and to demonstrate the possibility of adapting an obsolete building to the energy and habitability demands of the 21st century. Bejarano, Guillermo in OpenAIREXL Jornadas de automática. Bejarano, Guillermo in OpenAIREXL Jornadas de automática.
