So, fast pyrolysis is the purpose of several researches all over the world for the production of bio-oils that can enrich the energetic supply. However, bio-oil has heterogeneous properties due to the biomass characteristics and to the operational conditions of the pyrolysis process. The present review aims to evaluate the state of art of the bio-oil production, their properties and their principal energetic ways of utilization. (Résumé d'auteur)

A agenda das mudanças climáticas constitui uma questão geopolítica na medida em que o futuro do planeta é de interesse para todos. Enfrentar essas transformações exige a adoção de estratégias comuns. É consensual que o petróleo, além de ser um combustível fóssil em risco de esgotamento, é também um dos grandes responsáveis pela acumulação dos Gases do Efeito Estufa (GEE) na atmosfera, concorrendo para a elevação das temperaturas na Terra. Os países industrializados têm buscado engendrar políticas que visam incorporar, nas suas matrizes energéticas, os agrocombustíveis, como é o caso de Portugal, no contexto da União Europeia, mas também nos países BRIC, como é o caso do Brasil, onde se registram iniciativas de política energética que procuram constituir uma alternativa ao uso de petróleo. Este artigo é resultante de estudos realizados tanto em Portugal (UE) quanto no Brasil e objetiva mostrar quais têm sido os dilemas que envolvem o uso e a produção dos agrocombustíveis no contexto das mudanças climáticas.
