These catchments are important biodiversity refuges, particularly for sensitive diadromous fish populations but are subject to changes in land use and land management practices associated with afforestation, agriculture and rural development. Quantification of the degree of catchment degradation resulting from such anthropogenic impacts is often limited by a lack of long-term baseline data in what are generally relatively isolated, poorly studied catchments. This research uses a combination of palaeolimnological (radiometrically-dated variations in sedimentary geochemical elements, pollen, diatoms and remains of cladocera), census, and instrumental data, along with hindcast estimates to quantify environmental changes and their aquatic impacts since the late 19th century. The most likely drivers of any change are also identified. Results confirm an aquatic biotic response (phyto- and zooplankton) to soil erosion and nutrient enrichment associated with the onset of commercial conifer afforestation, effects that were subsequently enhanced as a result of increased overgrazing in the catchment and, possibly, climate warming. Authors: Zhuolun Chen;Building materials have played a more and more important role in saving building energy since the central government of China set higher standards and requirements for new-constructed and retrofit buildings after 2005. Glazing units, especially energy-saving units including LOW-E coated glazing units and PVB laminated glass, are utilized nation-wide. This paper employs energy simulation to analyze the energy-saving effects of different glazing units in residential buildings in the city of Guangzhou, as an example of hot-humid climate in China. It appeals that the PVB laminated glass can refuse 44 % solar radiation to enter rooms and reduce 40 % of the shading coefficient comparing to clear glass. Meanwhile, in the aspects of operation and design of the HVAC system, 28 % of cooling load, 21 % of installed capacity and 8.6 % of full-load operation time can be saved.

Thus, there is a strong incentive to enhance pitch control technology in order to counteract the negative effects of unidentified delays and non-minimum phase characteristics. To reduce the complexity of the parameter-tuning process and improve the performance of the system, in this paper, we propose a novel control method for wind turbine pitch angle with time delays. Specifically, the proposed control method is state-space PIDD2, which is based on internal model control (IMC) and the open-loop system step response. Then, considering the tracking, disturbance rejection and measurement noise, the proposed controller is verified through simulations. The simulation results demonstrate that the state-space PIDD2 (SS-PIDD2) can provide a trade-off between robustness, time domain performance and measurement noise attenuation and effectively improve pitch control performance in contrast to series PID and PI control methods.

Authors: Li LI; Xiaoguang HU;With the development of SoC technology in recent years, the ultra-low power WiFi System on SoC Chip has emerged. As a result, WiFi-based Wireless Sensor Networks come into use, especially used in Automatic Meter Reading. While because the nodes of Wireless Sensor Networks have limited energy supply, smaller storage capability and slower calculation ability, the current WiFi technology cannot be directly applied to WiFi-based Wireless Sensor Networks. The protocols should be upgraded and the security algorithms should be improved to meet the new requests. Firstly, this article describes the network architecture of WiFi-based WSN for AMR system and discusses the reason for using this analogous Mesh architecture. Secondly, the new Hardware architecture of WiFi-based WSN node is designed to realize the AMR system and verify the research work. The node can collect the data of power meter by WiFi and can be powered by a Lithium Battery. Thirdly, on the basis of study work of WiFi original routing protocol HWMP, a new method on improving the energy saving ability of HWMP to adapt the new features of WiFi-based WSN is proposed. And the simulation work on the new routing protocol E-HWMP has been done with NS2 and the simulation results show that the life cycle of the network has been extended to some degree.

Measurements of global solar radiation on horizontal surface are compared to predictions made by different methods. The first method is based on Angström-Prescott formula which correlates relative global solar radiation H/H0 to corresponding relative duration of bright sunshine SS/SS0. The second method, a model due to Mechlouch et al., uses cloud cover N, the hours of the day t and the quantum of the year q. The third method, an empirical relation due to Sivkov, uses the monthly sunshine duration nm and the noon altitude of the sun h. The models are compared and tested on the basis of statistical error tests (MBE, RMSE, MPE and R2) and the results are presented.

With the increase in energy of the Large Hadron Collider to a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV for Run 2, events with dense environments, such as in the cores of high-energy jets, became a focus for new physics searches as well as measurements of the Standard Model. These environments are characterized by charged-particle separations of the order of the tracking detectors sensor granularity. Basic track quantities are compared between 3.2 fb$^{-1}$ of data collected by the ATLAS experiment and simulation of proton-proton collisions producing high-transverse-momentum jets at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The impact of charged-particle separations and multiplicities on the track reconstruction performance is discussed. The efficiency in the cores of jets with transverse momenta between 200 GeV and 1600 GeV is quantified using a novel, data-driven, method. The method uses the energy loss, dE/dx, to identify pixel clusters originating from two charged particles. Of the charged particles creating these clusters, the measured fraction that fail to be reconstructed is $0.061 \pm 0.006 \textrm{(stat.)} \pm 0.014 \textrm{(syst.)}$ and $0.093 \pm 0.017 \textrm{(stat.)}\pm 0.021 \textrm{(syst.)}$ for jet transverse momenta of 200-400 GeV and 1400-1600 GeV, respectively. Nikulina;The phytoplankton in the inner Neva Estuary is described from data obtained from 1996 to 2000. The seasonal dynamics of the phytoplankton biomass are characterized by a bimodal curve with a summer maximum. The average seasonal biomass was approximately3 mg l-1, the maximum biomass was 8-11 mg l-1. The species composition and quantitative parameters were compared to those observed in the 1980s. A notable, nearly 1.5-2 fold, increase in the biomass in the summer-autumn period and the predominance of Oscillatoria species among the blue-greenalgae were observed. A decline in the nutrient load in the water body at the end of the 1990s appeared to be insufficient to bringabout a decrease in the proportion of Oscillatoria algae in the total species composition or a decline in the biomass ofthe entire phytoplankton community. In 2000 a certain change in the structural composition of the phytoplankton complex was noted. Species that had been predominantin the 1980s and had lost their advantage in the early 1990s, regained their earlier status.

We show that the direct optical band gaps of CuYO2 and CuScO2 are approximately equal to their fundamental band gaps and the conduction bands of them are localized. The direct optical band gaps of CuXO2 (X=Y, Sc, and Al) are 3.3, 3.6, and 3.2 eV, respectively, which are consistent with experimental values of 3.5, 3.7, and 3.5 eV. We find that the hole mobility along long lattice c is higher than that along other directions through calculating effective masses of the three oxides. By analyzing band offset we find that CuScO2 has the highest valence band maximum (VBM) among CuXO2 (X=Y, Sc, and Al). In addition, the approximate transitivity of band offset suggests that CuScO2 has a higher VBM than CuGaO2 and CuInO2 [Phys. Rev. Lett. 88, 066405 (2002)]. Therefore the accuracy of the equivalent model of distributed generators directly affects the precision of fault location. To solve this problem, this paper proposed a fault location method based on complex correlation Thevenin equivalent and strong tracking filter (STF) in distribution network with DG. Strong tracking filter (STF) can be used for real-time extraction of fundamental wave phase and amplitude of single phase voltage and current, and fast track the power parameters mutation. The method of complex correlation Thevenin equivalent takes into account the randomness of measurement data, DG impedance and load to overcome measurement error caused by the uncertainty of the data, so that the construction of the DG impedance model is more accurate. Simulation results show that the method of fault location proposed in this paper has advantages of high accuracy and strong robustness.

These catchments are important biodiversity refuges, particularly for sensitive diadromous fish populations but are subject to changes in land use and land management practices associated with afforestation, agriculture and rural development. Quantification of the degree of catchment degradation resulting from such anthropogenic impacts is often limited by a lack of long-term baseline data in what are generally relatively isolated, poorly studied catchments. This research uses a combination of palaeolimnological (radiometrically-dated variations in sedimentary geochemical elements, pollen, diatoms and remains of cladocera), census, and instrumental data, along with hindcast estimates to quantify environmental changes and their aquatic impacts since the late 19th century. The most likely drivers of any change are also identified. Results confirm an aquatic biotic response (phyto- and zooplankton) to soil erosion and nutrient enrichment associated with the onset of commercial conifer afforestation, effects that were subsequently enhanced as a result of increased overgrazing in the catchment and, possibly, climate warming. Authors: Zhuolun Chen;Building materials have played a more and more important role in saving building energy since the central government of China set higher standards and requirements for new-constructed and retrofit buildings after 2005. Glazing units, especially energy-saving units including LOW-E coated glazing units and PVB laminated glass, are utilized nation-wide. This paper employs energy simulation to analyze the energy-saving effects of different glazing units in residential buildings in the city of Guangzhou, as an example of hot-humid climate in China. It appeals that the PVB laminated glass can refuse 44 % solar radiation to enter rooms and reduce 40 % of the shading coefficient comparing to clear glass. Meanwhile, in the aspects of operation and design of the HVAC system, 28 % of cooling load, 21 % of installed capacity and 8.6 % of full-load operation time can be saved.

Thus, there is a strong incentive to enhance pitch control technology in order to counteract the negative effects of unidentified delays and non-minimum phase characteristics. To reduce the complexity of the parameter-tuning process and improve the performance of the system, in this paper, we propose a novel control method for wind turbine pitch angle with time delays. Specifically, the proposed control method is state-space PIDD2, which is based on internal model control (IMC) and the open-loop system step response. Then, considering the tracking, disturbance rejection and measurement noise, the proposed controller is verified through simulations. The simulation results demonstrate that the state-space PIDD2 (SS-PIDD2) can provide a trade-off between robustness, time domain performance and measurement noise attenuation and effectively improve pitch control performance in contrast to series PID and PI control methods.

As a result, WiFi-based Wireless Sensor Networks come into use, especially used in Automatic Meter Reading. While because the nodes of Wireless Sensor Networks have limited energy supply, smaller storage capability and slower calculation ability, the current WiFi technology cannot be directly applied to WiFi-based Wireless Sensor Networks. The protocols should be upgraded and the security algorithms should be improved to meet the new requests. Firstly, this article describes the network architecture of WiFi-based WSN for AMR system and discusses the reason for using this analogous Mesh architecture. Secondly, the new Hardware architecture of WiFi-based WSN node is designed to realize the AMR system and verify the research work. The node can collect the data of power meter by WiFi and can be powered by a Lithium Battery. Thirdly, on the basis of study work of WiFi original routing protocol HWMP, a new method on improving the energy saving ability of HWMP to adapt the new features of WiFi-based WSN is proposed. And the simulation work on the new routing protocol E-HWMP has been done with NS2 and the simulation results show that the life cycle of the network has been extended to some degree.

Measurements of global solar radiation on horizontal surface are compared to predictions made by different methods. The first method is based on Angström-Prescott formula which correlates relative global solar radiation H/H0 to corresponding relative duration of bright sunshine SS/SS0. The second method, a model due to Mechlouch et al., uses cloud cover N, the hours of the day t and the quantum of the year q. The third method, an empirical relation due to Sivkov, uses the monthly sunshine duration nm and the noon altitude of the sun h. The models are compared and tested on the basis of statistical error tests (MBE, RMSE, MPE and R2) and the results are presented.

With the increase in energy of the Large Hadron Collider to a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV for Run 2, events with dense environments, such as in the cores of high-energy jets, became a focus for new physics searches as well as measurements of the Standard Model. These environments are characterized by charged-particle separations of the order of the tracking detectors sensor granularity. Basic track quantities are compared between 3.2 fb$^{-1}$ of data collected by the ATLAS experiment and simulation of proton-proton collisions producing high-transverse-momentum jets at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The impact of charged-particle separations and multiplicities on the track reconstruction performance is discussed. The efficiency in the cores of jets with transverse momenta between 200 GeV and 1600 GeV is quantified using a novel, data-driven, method. The method uses the energy loss, dE/dx, to identify pixel clusters originating from two charged particles. Of the charged particles creating these clusters, the measured fraction that fail to be reconstructed is $0.061 \pm 0.006 \textrm{(stat.)} \pm 0.014 \textrm{(syst.)}$ and $0.093 \pm 0.017 \textrm{(stat.)}\pm 0.021 \textrm{(syst.)}$ for jet transverse momenta of 200-400 GeV and 1400-1600 GeV, respectively. Nikulina;The phytoplankton in the inner Neva Estuary is described from data obtained from 1996 to 2000. The seasonal dynamics of the phytoplankton biomass are characterized by a bimodal curve with a summer maximum. The average seasonal biomass was approximately3 mg l-1, the maximum biomass was 8-11 mg l-1. The species composition and quantitative parameters were compared to those observed in the 1980s. A notable, nearly 1.5-2 fold, increase in the biomass in the summer-autumn period and the predominance of Oscillatoria species among the blue-greenalgae were observed. A decline in the nutrient load in the water body at the end of the 1990s appeared to be insufficient to bringabout a decrease in the proportion of Oscillatoria algae in the total species composition or a decline in the biomass ofthe entire phytoplankton community. In 2000 a certain change in the structural composition of the phytoplankton complex was noted. Species that had been predominantin the 1980s and had lost their advantage in the early 1990s, regained their earlier status.

We show that the direct optical band gaps of CuYO2 and CuScO2 are approximately equal to their fundamental band gaps and the conduction bands of them are localized. The direct optical band gaps of CuXO2 (X=Y, Sc, and Al) are 3.3, 3.6, and 3.2 eV, respectively, which are consistent with experimental values of 3.5, 3.7, and 3.5 eV. We find that the hole mobility along long lattice c is higher than that along other directions through calculating effective masses of the three oxides. By analyzing band offset we find that CuScO2 has the highest valence band maximum (VBM) among CuXO2 (X=Y, Sc, and Al). In addition, the approximate transitivity of band offset suggests that CuScO2 has a higher VBM than CuGaO2 and CuInO2 [Phys. Rev. Lett. 88, 066405 (2002)]. Strong tracking filter (STF) can be used for real-time extraction of fundamental wave phase and amplitude of single phase voltage and current, and fast track the power parameters mutation. The method of complex correlation Thevenin equivalent takes into account the randomness of measurement data, DG impedance and load to overcome measurement error caused by the uncertainty of the data, so that the construction of the DG impedance model is more accurate. Simulation results show that the method of fault location proposed in this paper has advantages of high accuracy and strong robustness.
