The same year the international community united in something that was not obvious to international experts and participants of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference in Paris - the COP21, till the very end of the process. The countries - Parties to the UNFCCC agreed on the text of the Paris Agreement - legally binding accord on climate change mitigation and adaptation. Both documents address all the humankind without proper regard given to the position of women, who differ in many ways in their role and attitude towards climate change. In our article the analysis is done on the gender relation to climate change - on the basis of literature review as well as the words of the Pope on the issue in the Encyclical. Analysis presents the most important topics to which we sought reference in the Encyclical of Pope Francis. Results confirm deep understanding of the inter-linked processes around the climate change and no much attention is given to women by the Head of the Roman Catholic Church.

Ytreberg, Nora Svarstad in OpenAIREThis Deliverable 3.4 aims to elicit stakeholders’ experience and perspectives concerning renewable energy communities (RECs), to identify solutions to improve legal and policy frameworks and provide enabling conditions for RECs development, and opportunities and limitations for cross-country knowledge transfer. Building on the in-depth and qualitative study on how relevant actors perceive drivers and barriers to establish and successfully run RECs in Deliverable 2.3 - Synthesis Report on case-studies of drivers and barriers in five selected target regions (Standal et al. 2022), this Deliverable explores national and target region stakeholders’ views on attitudes, motivations, relevant technologies and legal forms, promising sectors for RECs, main barriers for developing RECs. Furthermore, the stakeholders’ familiarity with REDII and REC as a concept is explored, as well as national and local policies and support mechanisms that are seen as relevant for cross-country/region transfer.

With the increase in energy of the Large Hadron Collider to a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV for Run 2, events with dense environments, such as in the cores of high-energy jets, became a focus for new physics searches as well as measurements of the Standard Model. These environments are characterized by charged-particle separations of the order of the tracking detectors sensor granularity. Basic track quantities are compared between 3.2 fb$^{-1}$ of data collected by the ATLAS experiment and simulation of proton-proton collisions producing high-transverse-momentum jets at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The impact of charged-particle separations and multiplicities on the track reconstruction performance is discussed. The efficiency in the cores of jets with transverse momenta between 200 GeV and 1600 GeV is quantified using a novel, data-driven, method. The method uses the energy loss, dE/dx, to identify pixel clusters originating from two charged particles. Of the charged particles creating these clusters, the measured fraction that fail to be reconstructed is $0.061 \pm 0.006 \textrm{(stat.)} \pm 0.014 \textrm{(syst.)}$ and $0.093 \pm 0.017 \textrm{(stat.)}\pm 0.021 \textrm{(syst.)}$ for jet transverse momenta of 200-400 GeV and 1400-1600 GeV, respectively. Rats were divided in three groups. The first group was exposed to tobacco smoke (6 h per day, for 5 days), the second group was treated with alcohol (2 g/kg), and the third group was exposed to tobacco smoke and treated with alcohol. Earlier exposure to tobacco smoke had an insignificant impact on the elimination of alcohol, but caused a significant increase in the volume of distribution, which could be caused by an increase in the first-pass effect. In contrast, inhaling tobacco smoke decreased acetic aldehyde concentrations in the first hour after alcohol administration. The major finding of this study was that a single dose of ethyl alcohol increases the rate of elimination of cotinine, the major metabolite of nicotine. This was demonstrated by a reduced biological half-life (t(0.5)) and mean resident time (MRT).

Nikulina; The phytoplankton in the inner Neva Estuary is described from data obtained from 1996 to 2000. The seasonal dynamics of the phytoplankton biomass are characterized by a bimodal curve with a summer maximum. The average seasonal biomass was approximately3 mg l-1, the maximum biomass was 8-11 mg l-1. The species composition and quantitative parameters were compared to those observed in the 1980s. A notable, nearly 1.5-2 fold, increase in the biomass in the summer-autumn period and the predominance of Oscillatoria species among the blue-greenalgae were observed. A decline in the nutrient load in the water body at the end of the 1990s appeared to be insufficient to bringabout a decrease in the proportion of Oscillatoria algae in the total species composition or a decline in the biomass ofthe entire phytoplankton community. In 2000 a certain change in the structural composition of the phytoplankton complex was noted. Species that had been predominantin the 1980s and had lost their advantage in the early 1990s, regained their earlier status.

C.; Śliwowski, Zbigniew; Drozdowicz, Danuta; Kwiecień, Sławomir; Pawlik, Michał; Pajdo, Robert; Konturek, Stanisław; Pawlik, Wiesław; Hahn, E. G.;Ghrelin, identified in oxyntic mucosa has been recently implicated in the control of food intake and growth hormone (GH) release but whether this hormone can influence the gastric secretion and gastric mucosal integrity have been little studied. We compared the effects of intraperitoneal (i.p.) and intracerebroventricular (i.c.v.) administration of ghrelin on gastric secretion in rats equipped with gastric fistula (GF) and gastric lesions induced in rats by 75% ethanol and ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) with or without vagotomy or functional ablation of afferent sensory nerves by capsaicin. The number and the area of gastric lesions was measured by planimetry, the GBF was assessed by H(2)-gas clearance method and blood was withdrawn for the determination of the plasma ghrelin and gastrin levels. Ghrelin (5-80 microg/kg i.p. or 600-5000 ng/rat i.c.v.) increased gastric acid secretion and attenuated gastric lesions induced by ethanol and I/R. These protective effects of ghrelin were accompanied by the significant rise in the gastric mucosal blood flow (GBF) and plasma ghrelin and gastrin levels. Ghrelin given i.p. or injected i.c.v. in standard doses 20 microg/kg or 5000 ng/kg, respectively, significantly attenuated the gastric mucosal damage and significantly raised the GBF. Ethanol applied i.g. in smaller concentrations (12.5% and 25%) produced a significant increase in plasma immunorective ghrelin levels and this effect was inhibited in rats receiving ethanol in higher concentrations (75% and 100%). Ghrelin-induced protection after its i.p. or i.c.v. administration and accompanying increase in the GBF were completely abolished by vagotomy and capsaicin-deactivation of sensory nerves. Concurrent treatment with CGRP added to ghrelin restored the gastroprotective and hyperemic effects of ghrelin applied i.p. or i.c.v. in rats with capsaicin denervation. We conclude that central and peripheral ghrelin exerts a potent protective and gastric secretory effects in rats exposed to ethanol and I/R, and that these actions involve vagal nerve integrity, partially depending upon afferent nerves and hyperemia mediated by sensory neuropeptides such as CGRP released from these nerves.
