Oskarshamn is one of the municipalities being discussed as a possible site for disposal of nuclear waste from the Swedish nuclear power plants, and there has been inquiries made for a pilot study in the area. In view of this the local council of Oskarshamn appointed a ´Youth team´, consisting of ten young politicians from all political parties represented in the local council. The aim of the team was to inform and create debate among adolescents about how to store the radioactive waste from nuclear power plants. The purpose of this survey, addressed to young people in Oskarshamn, was to shed light on their opinion towards a pilot study and possible disposal of nuclear waste in Oskarshamn. The respondents had to answer questions about their opinion on the use of nuclear power in Sweden, if they believed nuclear power to be abolished by year 2010, and about their general interest in issues concerning energy and nuclear power. Other questions concerned risks associated with nuclear power, the influence different groups have/ought to have when it comes to disposal of nuclear waste, and if the respondent would accept a decision to dispose nuclear waste in Oskarshamn. A number of questions dealt with the suggested pilot study; if the respondent was for or against a pilot study; who should decide about the pilot study; if there had been enough information about the study; and if the respondent had attended any meeting, signed any petition, contacted any politician, contacted or participated in mass media, or tried to influence anyone´s opinion on any issue concerning the pilot study. The respondents also had to state the issues they considered to be important to study in a pilot study. Furthermore the respondents had to give their opinion about a number of risks discussed in connection with disposal of nuclear waste in Oskarshamn. Other questions concerned the influence on job opportunities and tourism. Demographic items include age, gender, marital status, children, education, occupation, and trade union membership. De delades in i två grupper baserat på deras fysiska aktivitetsnivåer, enligt WHO riktlinjer. This study employed a mixed-method approach combining interviews and data from the Measuring Energy Expenditure and Dietary Intake at Different Activity Levels (MEDAL) project. A seven-day food record provided detailed insights into participants' food intake, focusing on protein sources and carbon footprint (CO2e). Participants, aged 18-40, were recruited from Gothenburg University and local sports clubs between October 2020 and April 2021. They were divided into two groups based on their physical activity levels, following WHO guidelines. Data collection included semi-structured interviews and a seven-day food record using the Nutrition Data online tool. Resting energy expenditure was measured using indirect calorimetry. The interviews explored food shopping habits, dietary preferences, and climate impact considerations without directly informing participants of the climate focus to avoid bias. Quantitative data were analyzed with statistical tests, while qualitative insights were triangulated with food records to assess climate-conscious and sustainable food consumption practices. The analysis was guided by social practice theory, focusing on the interplay between participants' attitudes and behaviors. Statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS, and significant findings were determined with a p-value of 0.05 or lower.

There are many technical applications of heat exchangers in our community.A common type is the cross-flow heat exchangers in which the air-flow is perpendicularto the pipes with liquid. The area for heat convection is increasedby adding fins on the pipes. In this bachelor thesis, performed in the Schoolof Industrial Engineering and Management at KTH, the mentioned heat exchangeris studied. The goal is to create a numerical model for heat exchangersin ventilation systems that are used in big buildings in the climate of a Swedishsummer. This specific case requires that both heat- and mass transportis included in the model. The heat exchanger is divided in both the direction of the air-flow as well asthe liquid-flow in the model. This is done to make a step-wise calculation ofthe heat transfer. The temperature of the fins is depending on the temperatureand enthalpy of both flows. The temperature differs on the fins and iscalculates by dividing the fins in a net of temperature-points. The equilibriumsolution is iterated from heat conduction within the plate and heat convectionfrom the air-flow.The model is evaluated by simulating a test-case of typical data from a Swedishsummer through a heat exchanger with a geometry that could occur in a largebuilding. The result was a colder, dehumidified air flow out of the exchanger.Further evaluation of the model is made by extensive sensitivity analysis ofthe parameters which is allowed to change by the user. The analysis is madeby plotting the result and comparing with the equations in the model. The model has several restrictions. There are limitations of the number ofpipes and their placements. The model is based on steady-state.

For further information contact us at helpdesk@openaire.eudescription Publicationkeyboard_double_arrow_right Bachelor thesis 2014 SwedenPublisher:KTH, Energiteknik Authors: Vestberg, Ola; Kajnäs, Carl;Teknikföretaget Compower avser att marknadsföra en Mikrogasturbin (MGT) med nya patent inom området. Technology company Compower intends to market a Micro gas turbine (MGT) with new patents in the field, called ET10. This MGT is using external combustion instead of the conventional internal combustion MGTs that are on the market today. The MGT is a small scale heat and power unit that uses combustion gases to generate electricity using a turbine shaft and produce heating power using heat exchangers. However, ET10 does not produce electrical power sufficient to be commercially viable. One possible solution to this was given as to inject steam into the turbine cycle. The purpose of this study was to find a way to redistribute energy in the system to generate and provide the intended cycle with water vapor and thereto to convey a design suggestion for making this solution possible in order to improve the performance of the machine. The desired electrical power is 2-3 kW at an outdoor temperature of 15 ℃ to go through with the idea. The method to find a solution was to use a thermodynamic model to first theoretically calculate various possible solutions (scenarios) to generate the steam that is supposed to increase the turbine power. These scenarios involve different component configurations. The theoretical values thereby obtained were then used as a basis to implement technical components to the original system. This in order to realize the scenario that best enhances system performance. The results of this study were partly to develop the theoretical model and test results that the simulation gave. This result suggests that the target value of 2-3 kW electrical power is achievable. The extended result was how the problem was solved for generating steam in the system. The proposal of the new design includes a Helical Coil – heat exchanger in combination with a Spiral Coil – heat exchanger.

In order to highlight the changes in the real estate market this thesis has examined rental agreements for physical stores in Uppsala municipality. The purpose of this report was to clarify if and how the design of the rental agreements has amended over time, examine which parameters that have influenced the design and study the rental development. The parameters that have been examined regarding the impact on agreement design were e-commerce, business cycles and sustainability. About 500 rental agreements were analysed, interviews were conducted with real estate owners and tenants as well as databases containing information about the real estate market were investigated. The analysis showed that the turnover based rent is the most frequent used rental form during the time period. The turnover based rent consists in numerous cases of a minimum rent which rarely is transcended. The conclusion also indicated that the use of rent free periods has increased and that e-commerce has yet not affected the rental agreements, evidence exists of a future impact. Indicators have been found that the rental development is affected by business cycle changes. The sustainability aspect has changed the behavior of tenants and real estate owners and today it appears an increasingly amount of green agreements.

; Building sustainably is something that is becoming increasingly more common within the real estate and construction industry. To take advantage of already existing materials, cultural values and adapt to the building in front of you is ...

In addition, the numbers of indoor bandy arenas are increasing. The cooling systems installed today should be able to lower its energy consumption with 10-30%.In this thesis, Ronneby ice-arena has been researched. This artificial cooling facility was inaugurated 2011 and is one of the newest in Sweden. This is an outdoor ice field for bandy and therefor has no roof or walls to cover the field. Ronneby ice-arena has problems with uneven cooling distribution of the ice field. This results in cracks and uneven ice quality. These problems also result in higher energy consumption than necessary. To find a solution for the uneven cooling of the ice field flow measurements were carried out in the brine circuit. To get a better understanding of the cooling distribution, temperature measurements were carried out on the brine feeding lines. A calculation has been performed on what energy savings a speed control of the brine circulation pumps depending on the outdoor temperature could generate. Another calculation was made to see the possible savings with a windshield around the field. In this thesis the benefits of a heat recovery system on the cooling compressors refrigerant has been investigated. The heat recovery system could heat the locker rooms, the clubhouse, the showers and the hot water for the Zambonis. In order to perform the necessary calculation for this thesis, Fredriksbergs BK and Ronneby municipality provided operating data. The actions proposed to Ronneby ice-arena to solve the uneven cooling of the ice field is to change the location of the brine feeding line connection point. At the same time this work is carried out it’s suggested that the brine feed and return lines get insulated. When the uneven cooling problems have been solved, a speed control system should be installed to control the brine circulation pumps, in order to lower the electricity consumption. Ronneby ...

The plant is highly adaptable andwill cultivate in almost any soil. It has excellent remediation properties and has shown to be relatively consistent when itcomes to crop yields. The aim of this literature survey is to examine how hemp can be used to be considered asustainable energy crop in Sweden through database searches and interviews. Hemps characteristics as an energy cropand its remediation properties is evaluated and compared with other plants that are used in Sweden. The result showsthat hemp is a competitive crop when used for solid fuel and that a closed-loop solution is achievable. Further studiesare needed for a closed-loop solution to be possible when using hemp as a biogas crop, mainly for establishing asustainable waste treatment.
