    This research developed a new integrated method for addressing the deficiencies and gaps generally found in past studies on benchmarking and for benchmarking intellectual capital (IC) in the underdeveloped domain of logistics. To resolve the lack of consideration of relationships among past benchmarking concepts and the impacts of their managerial factors, as well as to examine the wide range of elements and indicators of IC influencing the sustainable development of organizations, the proposed approach integrated the analytic network process and the concept of thinking and non-thinking assets with the generic benchmarking procedure. This new hybrid method was implemented in four commercial companies in courier service. The proposed method prioritized and identified the magnitudes of the factors focused upon, including the IC elements, and their performance measures by considering the fundamental characteristics of intangible assets. The obtained results highlight that management focuses on the IC of the best performer and other companies. This benchmarked outcome showed gaps and improvement as well as sustainable development opportunities for inferior logistics companies. The improved framework provides more systematic and specific benchmarking processes to consider, obtain, and compare the in-depth details of IC management. Moreover, ours is the first research on benchmarking that specifically focused on IC management in logistics service providers.

    The issues of the relationship between the innovative maturity of enterprises, the orientation of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to the principles of sustainability, and the expansion of their participation in sustainable development with business efficiency are very important and interesting. In this case, it is important to find a good balance between a policy that focuses on sustainable development and businesses’ needs. This will help SME companies be as efficient as possible and have the least amount of impact on the environment. This is especially important for countries where small- and medium-sized businesses are the main driving force of the country’s economy. This research aims to examine how the conceptualizations of intellectual capital (e.g., relational capital, social capital, and structural capital) affect open innovation and sustainability-oriented initiatives to foster open sustainability innovation for small- and medium-sized businesses. Using structural equation modeling based on second-order factor analysis, survey data were collected from 481 SMEs in Thailand. Intellectual capital in SMEs enhances opportunity recognition in SMEs to develop open sustainability innovation, while sustainability-oriented initiatives and an open innovation strategy should be well-placed. SMBs and business policymakers should pay attention to the idea of intellectual capital in terms of socio-rational resources, in which open sustainability innovation projects could be developed through sustainable cooperation.

    Several studies have concentrated on cooling the PV module temperature (TPV) to enhance the system’s electrical output power and efficiency in recent years. In this review study, PCM-based cooling techniques are reviewed majorly classified into three techniques: (i) incorporating raw/pure PCM behind the PV module is one of the most straightforward techniques; (ii) thermal additives such as inter-fin, nano-compound, expanded graphite (EG), and others are infused in PCM to enhance the heat transfer rate between PV module and PCM; and (iii) thermal collectors that are placed behind the PV module or inside the PCM container to minimize the PCM usage. Advantageously, these techniques favor reusing the waste heat from the PV module. Further, in this study, PCM thermophysical properties are straightforwardly discussed. It is found that the PCM melting temperature (Tmelt) and thermal conductivity (KPCM) become the major concerns in cooling the PV module. Based on the literature review, experimentally proven PV-PCM temperatures are analyzed over a year for UAE and Islamabad locations using typical meteorological year (TMY) data from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) data source in 1 h frequency.

    The growth of the global economy in recent years has resulted in an increase in infrastructure projects worldwide and consequently, this has led to an increase in the quantity of waste generated. Two recycled materials, namely garnet residues (GR) and tire-derived aggregates (TDA), were used to improve mechanical properties of soft clay (SC) subgrade in this study. GR was evaluated as a replacement material in SC prior to Type I Portland cement stabilization. TDA was also studied as an elastic material in cement-stabilized SC–GR. The laboratory tests on the cement–TDA-stabilized SC–GR included unconfined compressive strength (UCS), indirect tensile stress (ITS) and indirect tensile fatigue (ITF). Microstructural analysis on the cement–TDA-stabilized SC–GR was also performed to illustrate the role of GR and TDA contents on the degree of hydration. The UCS of cement-stabilized SC–GR increased when cement content increased from 0% to 2%. Beyond 2% cement content, the UCS development was slightly slower, possibly due to the presence of insufficient water for hydration. The GR reduces the specific surface and particle contacts of the SC–GR blends to be bonded with cementitious products. The optimum SC:GR providing the highest UCS was found to be 90:10 for all cement contents. Increased amounts of GR led to a reduction in UCS values due to its high water absorption, resulting in the insufficient water for the cement hydration. Moreover, the excessive GR replacement ratio weakened the interparticle bond strength due to its smooth and round particles. The TDA addition can enhance the fatigue resistance of the cement-stabilized SC–GR. The maximum fatigue life was found at 2% TDA content. The excessive TDA caused large amounts of micro-cracks in cement–TDA-stabilized SC–GR due to the low adhesion property of TDA. The SC:GR = 90:10, cement content = 2% and TDA content = 2% were suggested as the optimum ingredients. The outcome of this research will promote the usage of GR and TDA to develop a green high-fatigue-resistant subgrade material.

    Electric vehicles (EVs) are proportionally increasing day-by-day with the inclusion of upgraded technology toward considered zero carbon emission efforts. To mitigate greenhouse gas emissions from the transportation sector, grid-to-vehicle (G2V) and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technologies are getting significant attention nowadays. EVs equipped with modern technology can help to stabilize the power grids through load-balancing topology during peak hours. The improvement in EVs can support the surroundings in numerous ways, such as power grid voltage and frequency regulations, harmonics distortions, accessible solar energy implemented to the grids, and peak load stabilizations. This literature review analyzes G2V and V2G impacts in more depth, namely opportunities, improvements in strategies, operation, control, issues, and new technology adoptions. This paper emphasizes the possibilities of bringing advancements in EV technology, smooth operations between grids and EVs, fast bidirectional charging and discharging scopes, control of grids and EVs structures, issues, benefits, pitfalls, challenges, and recommendations.

    The mechanism of liquefaction and the factors that cause liquefaction behavior have previously been examined and evaluated, both analytically and experimentally; construction including liquefaction countermeasures is being implemented, based on these findings. This study presents a theoretical visualization of the mechanism of liquefaction generation and evaluates the behavior of particles in the ground. Specifically, an MPSM-DEM coupled CAE system (CAES) is employed to view the events beneath the ground, modeled three-dimensionally when an external acceleration is applied to simulate seismic waves and reveals the behavior below the surface. The numerical simulation of the liquefaction phenomenon, as represented by an MPSM-DEM coupled CAES system, clearly showed the mechanism of liquefaction generation and contributed to the design and accountability of more economical and sustainable liquefaction countermeasures, regardless of the field of specialization.

    The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) focus on reducing inequality while promoting economic growth, environmental protection, and access to critical services. The latest Multidimensional Poverty Index report shows that Thailand’s Multidimensional Poverty Index has decreased. This study analyzes factors that significantly affect the increase in sustainable livelihood potential development based on 37 indicators determined from a relevant questionnaire. The sample size was 17,536 households from 3612 villages and 193 districts, covering 20 provinces of Thailand, which is a region with a low Human Achievement Index (HAI). The data are analyzed and processed using structural equation modeling (SEM) statistical methods in order to confirm the factor structure and indicate the appropriateness of the empirical data according to the required criteria. It is found that sustainable living potential development includes 5 dimensions based on 37 indicators in Thailand, with natural capital being the most important, followed by human capital, financial capital, social capital, and physical capital. This research is expected to help community leaders or local agencies to prioritize projects or activities that improve the quality of life of people in each locality, including evaluating policies and various interventions, thus enabling the explanation of phenomena and statistical measurements.

    The purpose of this paper is to assess the gaps in the adoption of crop insurance in Thailand and suggest possible solutions relating to policy support and framework, implementation mechanisms, technology adoption, and awareness amongst farmers. The methodology includes a literature review, interaction with officials, rice experts and insurance experts, and discussion with farmers. A study was undertaken at province level to assess the impact of using rainfall index as a threshold. Additionally, focused group discussions (FGD) were conducted with rice farmers at the village level. Key issues targeted in the FGD were to understand the behavior and practices during droughts, impact of drought on crop yield, methods already in use to reduce the impact, such as plantation of drought-resistant rice, and the adoption of crop insurance. Data availability is a challenge and has led to withdrawal of Weather Index Insurance (WII) in 2015. WII have threshold levels based on historical rainfall. Adoption of coping mechanisms, such as drought-resistant rice and irrigation increases the chances of adverse selection. In absence of ground based weather data, a combination of satellite agriculture drought information can be used to make crop insurance more attractive as it would help in reducing basis risk and improving insurers and farmers’ confidence in the product. Discussion with farmers, insurance companies, and the Bank of Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) in Thailand suggested low awareness among farmers about the potential benefits of weather index insurance products. Relatively low compensation is also an obstacle. Proper marketing and awareness raising campaigns should also accompany the introduction of index-based insurance products.

    Efficient and sustainable transportation is crucial for addressing the environmental and social challenges associated with urban mobility. Accurate estimation of travel time plays a pivotal role in traffic management and trip planning. This study focused on leveraging machine learning models to enhance travel time estimation accuracy on toll roads under diverse traffic conditions. Two models were developed for travel time estimation under a variety of traffic conditions on the Don Muang Tollway, Bangkok, Thailand: a long short-term memory (LSTM) recurrent neural network model and a support vector regression (SVR) model. Missing data were treated using the proposed segment-based data imputation method. Unlike other studies, the effects of missing input data on the travel time model performance were also analyzed. Traffic parameters, such as speed and flow, along with other relevant parameters (time of day, day of the week, holiday indicators, and a missing data indicator), were fed into each model to estimate travel time on each of the four specific routes. The LSTM and SVR results had similar performance levels based on evaluating the all-day pooled data. However, the mean absolute percentage errors were lower for LSTM during peak periods, while SVR performed slightly better during off-peak periods. Additionally, LSTM coped substantially better than SVR with unusual traffic fluctuations. The sensitivity analysis of the missing input data in this study also revealed that the LSTM model was more robust to the high degree of missing data than the SVR model.

    The energy-intensive characteristics of the computations performed by graphics processing units (GPUs) in proof-of-work (PoW) blockchain technology are readily apparent. The optimization of GPU feature configuration is a complex subject that significantly impacts a system’s energy consumption and performance efficiency. The primary objectives of this study are to examine and improve the energy consumption characteristics of GPUs, which play a crucial role in the functioning of blockchains and the mining of cryptocurrencies. This study examines the complex relationship between GPU configurations and system architecture components and their effects on energy efficiency and sustainability. The methodology of this study conducts experiments involving various GPU models and mining software, evaluating their effectiveness across various configurations and environments. Multilinear regression analysis is used to study the complex relationships between critical performance indicators like power consumption, thermal dynamics, core speed, and hash rate and their effects on energy efficiency and performance. The results reveal that strategically adjusting GPU hardware, software, and configuration can preserve substantial energy while preserving computational efficiency. GPU core speed, temperature, core memory speed, ETASH algorithms, fan speed, and energy usage significantly affected the dependent computational-efficiency variable (p = 0.000 and R2 = 0.962) using multilinear regression analysis. GPU core speed, temperature, core memory speed, fan speed, and energy usage significantly affected efficient energy usage (p = 0.000 and R2 = 0.989). The contributions of this study offer practical recommendations for optimizing the feature configurations of GPUs to reduce energy consumption, mitigate the environmental impacts of blockchain operations, and contribute to the current research on performance in PoW blockchain applications.

    This research developed a new integrated method for addressing the deficiencies and gaps generally found in past studies on benchmarking and for benchmarking intellectual capital (IC) in the underdeveloped domain of logistics. To resolve the lack of consideration of relationships among past benchmarking concepts and the impacts of their managerial factors, as well as to examine the wide range of elements and indicators of IC influencing the sustainable development of organizations, the proposed approach integrated the analytic network process and the concept of thinking and non-thinking assets with the generic benchmarking procedure. This new hybrid method was implemented in four commercial companies in courier service. The proposed method prioritized and identified the magnitudes of the factors focused upon, including the IC elements, and their performance measures by considering the fundamental characteristics of intangible assets. The obtained results highlight that management focuses on the IC of the best performer and other companies. This benchmarked outcome showed gaps and improvement as well as sustainable development opportunities for inferior logistics companies. The improved framework provides more systematic and specific benchmarking processes to consider, obtain, and compare the in-depth details of IC management. Moreover, ours is the first research on benchmarking that specifically focused on IC management in logistics service providers.

    The issues of the relationship between the innovative maturity of enterprises, the orientation of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to the principles of sustainability, and the expansion of their participation in sustainable development with business efficiency are very important and interesting. In this case, it is important to find a good balance between a policy that focuses on sustainable development and businesses’ needs. This will help SME companies be as efficient as possible and have the least amount of impact on the environment. This is especially important for countries where small- and medium-sized businesses are the main driving force of the country’s economy. This research aims to examine how the conceptualizations of intellectual capital (e.g., relational capital, social capital, and structural capital) affect open innovation and sustainability-oriented initiatives to foster open sustainability innovation for small- and medium-sized businesses. Using structural equation modeling based on second-order factor analysis, survey data were collected from 481 SMEs in Thailand. Intellectual capital in SMEs enhances opportunity recognition in SMEs to develop open sustainability innovation, while sustainability-oriented initiatives and an open innovation strategy should be well-placed. SMBs and business policymakers should pay attention to the idea of intellectual capital in terms of socio-rational resources, in which open sustainability innovation projects could be developed through sustainable cooperation.

    Several studies have concentrated on cooling the PV module temperature (TPV) to enhance the system’s electrical output power and efficiency in recent years. In this review study, PCM-based cooling techniques are reviewed majorly classified into three techniques: (i) incorporating raw/pure PCM behind the PV module is one of the most straightforward techniques; (ii) thermal additives such as inter-fin, nano-compound, expanded graphite (EG), and others are infused in PCM to enhance the heat transfer rate between PV module and PCM; and (iii) thermal collectors that are placed behind the PV module or inside the PCM container to minimize the PCM usage. Advantageously, these techniques favor reusing the waste heat from the PV module. Further, in this study, PCM thermophysical properties are straightforwardly discussed. It is found that the PCM melting temperature (Tmelt) and thermal conductivity (KPCM) become the major concerns in cooling the PV module. Based on the literature review, experimentally proven PV-PCM temperatures are analyzed over a year for UAE and Islamabad locations using typical meteorological year (TMY) data from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) data source in 1 h frequency.

    The growth of the global economy in recent years has resulted in an increase in infrastructure projects worldwide and consequently, this has led to an increase in the quantity of waste generated. Two recycled materials, namely garnet residues (GR) and tire-derived aggregates (TDA), were used to improve mechanical properties of soft clay (SC) subgrade in this study. GR was evaluated as a replacement material in SC prior to Type I Portland cement stabilization. TDA was also studied as an elastic material in cement-stabilized SC–GR. The laboratory tests on the cement–TDA-stabilized SC–GR included unconfined compressive strength (UCS), indirect tensile stress (ITS) and indirect tensile fatigue (ITF). Microstructural analysis on the cement–TDA-stabilized SC–GR was also performed to illustrate the role of GR and TDA contents on the degree of hydration. The UCS of cement-stabilized SC–GR increased when cement content increased from 0% to 2%. Beyond 2% cement content, the UCS development was slightly slower, possibly due to the presence of insufficient water for hydration. The GR reduces the specific surface and particle contacts of the SC–GR blends to be bonded with cementitious products. The optimum SC:GR providing the highest UCS was found to be 90:10 for all cement contents. Increased amounts of GR led to a reduction in UCS values due to its high water absorption, resulting in the insufficient water for the cement hydration. Moreover, the excessive GR replacement ratio weakened the interparticle bond strength due to its smooth and round particles. The TDA addition can enhance the fatigue resistance of the cement-stabilized SC–GR. The maximum fatigue life was found at 2% TDA content. The excessive TDA caused large amounts of micro-cracks in cement–TDA-stabilized SC–GR due to the low adhesion property of TDA. The SC:GR = 90:10, cement content = 2% and TDA content = 2% were suggested as the optimum ingredients. The outcome of this research will promote the usage of GR and TDA to develop a green high-fatigue-resistant subgrade material.

    Electric vehicles (EVs) are proportionally increasing day-by-day with the inclusion of upgraded technology toward considered zero carbon emission efforts. To mitigate greenhouse gas emissions from the transportation sector, grid-to-vehicle (G2V) and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technologies are getting significant attention nowadays. EVs equipped with modern technology can help to stabilize the power grids through load-balancing topology during peak hours. The improvement in EVs can support the surroundings in numerous ways, such as power grid voltage and frequency regulations, harmonics distortions, accessible solar energy implemented to the grids, and peak load stabilizations. This literature review analyzes G2V and V2G impacts in more depth, namely opportunities, improvements in strategies, operation, control, issues, and new technology adoptions. This paper emphasizes the possibilities of bringing advancements in EV technology, smooth operations between grids and EVs, fast bidirectional charging and discharging scopes, control of grids and EVs structures, issues, benefits, pitfalls, challenges, and recommendations.

    The mechanism of liquefaction and the factors that cause liquefaction behavior have previously been examined and evaluated, both analytically and experimentally; construction including liquefaction countermeasures is being implemented, based on these findings. This study presents a theoretical visualization of the mechanism of liquefaction generation and evaluates the behavior of particles in the ground. Specifically, an MPSM-DEM coupled CAE system (CAES) is employed to view the events beneath the ground, modeled three-dimensionally when an external acceleration is applied to simulate seismic waves and reveals the behavior below the surface. The numerical simulation of the liquefaction phenomenon, as represented by an MPSM-DEM coupled CAES system, clearly showed the mechanism of liquefaction generation and contributed to the design and accountability of more economical and sustainable liquefaction countermeasures, regardless of the field of specialization.

    The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) focus on reducing inequality while promoting economic growth, environmental protection, and access to critical services. The latest Multidimensional Poverty Index report shows that Thailand’s Multidimensional Poverty Index has decreased. This study analyzes factors that significantly affect the increase in sustainable livelihood potential development based on 37 indicators determined from a relevant questionnaire. The sample size was 17,536 households from 3612 villages and 193 districts, covering 20 provinces of Thailand, which is a region with a low Human Achievement Index (HAI). The data are analyzed and processed using structural equation modeling (SEM) statistical methods in order to confirm the factor structure and indicate the appropriateness of the empirical data according to the required criteria. It is found that sustainable living potential development includes 5 dimensions based on 37 indicators in Thailand, with natural capital being the most important, followed by human capital, financial capital, social capital, and physical capital. This research is expected to help community leaders or local agencies to prioritize projects or activities that improve the quality of life of people in each locality, including evaluating policies and various interventions, thus enabling the explanation of phenomena and statistical measurements.

    The purpose of this paper is to assess the gaps in the adoption of crop insurance in Thailand and suggest possible solutions relating to policy support and framework, implementation mechanisms, technology adoption, and awareness amongst farmers. The methodology includes a literature review, interaction with officials, rice experts and insurance experts, and discussion with farmers. A study was undertaken at province level to assess the impact of using rainfall index as a threshold. Additionally, focused group discussions (FGD) were conducted with rice farmers at the village level. Key issues targeted in the FGD were to understand the behavior and practices during droughts, impact of drought on crop yield, methods already in use to reduce the impact, such as plantation of drought-resistant rice, and the adoption of crop insurance. Data availability is a challenge and has led to withdrawal of Weather Index Insurance (WII) in 2015. WII have threshold levels based on historical rainfall. Adoption of coping mechanisms, such as drought-resistant rice and irrigation increases the chances of adverse selection. In absence of ground based weather data, a combination of satellite agriculture drought information can be used to make crop insurance more attractive as it would help in reducing basis risk and improving insurers and farmers’ confidence in the product. Discussion with farmers, insurance companies, and the Bank of Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) in Thailand suggested low awareness among farmers about the potential benefits of weather index insurance products. Relatively low compensation is also an obstacle. Proper marketing and awareness raising campaigns should also accompany the introduction of index-based insurance products.

    Efficient and sustainable transportation is crucial for addressing the environmental and social challenges associated with urban mobility. Accurate estimation of travel time plays a pivotal role in traffic management and trip planning. This study focused on leveraging machine learning models to enhance travel time estimation accuracy on toll roads under diverse traffic conditions. Two models were developed for travel time estimation under a variety of traffic conditions on the Don Muang Tollway, Bangkok, Thailand: a long short-term memory (LSTM) recurrent neural network model and a support vector regression (SVR) model. Missing data were treated using the proposed segment-based data imputation method. Unlike other studies, the effects of missing input data on the travel time model performance were also analyzed. Traffic parameters, such as speed and flow, along with other relevant parameters (time of day, day of the week, holiday indicators, and a missing data indicator), were fed into each model to estimate travel time on each of the four specific routes. The LSTM and SVR results had similar performance levels based on evaluating the all-day pooled data. However, the mean absolute percentage errors were lower for LSTM during peak periods, while SVR performed slightly better during off-peak periods. Additionally, LSTM coped substantially better than SVR with unusual traffic fluctuations. The sensitivity analysis of the missing input data in this study also revealed that the LSTM model was more robust to the high degree of missing data than the SVR model.

    The energy-intensive characteristics of the computations performed by graphics processing units (GPUs) in proof-of-work (PoW) blockchain technology are readily apparent. The optimization of GPU feature configuration is a complex subject that significantly impacts a system’s energy consumption and performance efficiency. The primary objectives of this study are to examine and improve the energy consumption characteristics of GPUs, which play a crucial role in the functioning of blockchains and the mining of cryptocurrencies. This study examines the complex relationship between GPU configurations and system architecture components and their effects on energy efficiency and sustainability. The methodology of this study conducts experiments involving various GPU models and mining software, evaluating their effectiveness across various configurations and environments. Multilinear regression analysis is used to study the complex relationships between critical performance indicators like power consumption, thermal dynamics, core speed, and hash rate and their effects on energy efficiency and performance. The results reveal that strategically adjusting GPU hardware, software, and configuration can preserve substantial energy while preserving computational efficiency. GPU core speed, temperature, core memory speed, ETASH algorithms, fan speed, and energy usage significantly affected the dependent computational-efficiency variable (p = 0.000 and R2 = 0.962) using multilinear regression analysis. GPU core speed, temperature, core memory speed, fan speed, and energy usage significantly affected efficient energy usage (p = 0.000 and R2 = 0.989). The contributions of this study offer practical recommendations for optimizing the feature configurations of GPUs to reduce energy consumption, mitigate the environmental impacts of blockchain operations, and contribute to the current research on performance in PoW blockchain applications.
