The research deals with the issue of slums, urban sprawl on agriculture land and its impact on the city of Baghdad. This topic needs close attention because it has become a problem facing the city of Baghdad through recruiting agricultural lands and converting them to residential homes in addition to the transgression on the state lands and building abuses. This research deals with the causes of slums, irregular urban sprawl and risks of excesses on land uses of land in Baghdad. In this research, we try to know the extent to which these problems have affected the city of Baghdad. The research methodology based on the descriptive methodology to clarify the factors affecting urban sprawl at the expense of agricultural land, using studies in government and service institutions and images from satellites to clarify the size of urban sprawl over periods after the 2003 war. Finally, a conclusion and future solutions were set to solve these problems.

Biodiversity analysis underlies macroevolutionary studies and allows to identify mass extinctions. Numerous studies of mass extinctions show that geological factors play a central role in determining the diversity dynamics. The late Cretaceous extinction is of interest to science as the closest to us extinction of the five mass extinctions that occurred in the Phanerozoic. There is currently no scientific consensus on the scenario in which the extinction occurred on land. In order to assess the features of superorderDinosauriadevelopment during the Cretaceous-Paleogene, the authors have analysed the diversity of terrestrial taxa of Mesozoic dinosaurs. Based on data from the paleobiodb paleontological database using the Python programming language and its libraries, the features of the species diversity ofDinosauriahave been studied. An attempt was made to quantify the species diversity of this group based on the ratio of predators to herbivores using data on dinosaur food types. The simulated diversity data were compared with observed patterns and existing estimates. It is likely that less than one-third of the dinosaurs that existed are currently known, as indicated by the geography of the fossils, and the proportions of dinosaurs by type of diet.

Abstract. This paper discusses the features of such a unique land plot type as the unified land use. This type of a land plot appeared by virtue of the Russian Federal Law No. 28-FZ “On the State Land Cadastre” dated January 2, 2000. However, the current land legislation does not contain such a term. Currently, the unified land use cannot be formed, but previously registered land still exists in the state cadastre. In addition to a number of features in the land register procedure, the unified land use has no restrictions and freely participates in civilian circulation. Land plots that are the unified land use may be subject to all types of transformation specified in 11.9 of the Land Code of the Russian Federation, with the transformation into two types: the so-called ordinary plot and multi-contour land plot. It should also be noted that there is no term of multi-contour land plot in the land legislation. Some authors draw an analogy between the unified land use and a multi-contour land plot. However, there are a number of differences.

The study discusses the impact of open cuts for the extraction of common minerals on soil resources and agricultural lands in Moscow region (MR). For this, the features of soil cover in Moscow region and the distribution of soil types by their use as agricultural resources were analyzed. Further, it was determined which types of soils are subject to varying degrees of open cut load. As a result, a schematic map of the soil cover with open cut load zones was made. It is shown which agricultural lands exposed to open cuts of varying intensity. A conclusion is made about the types of soil cover, which accounts for the greatest and least open cut load, as well as the degree of impact of open cuts on agricultural land resources and the correlation between the degree of open cut load and type of agricultural land use. It is shown that the most fertile soils, which occupy only 2.9% of the MR area, are not affected by the open cut load at all. The greatest open cut load is associated with agricultural lands, represented mainly by various sod-podzolic soils, which occupy 70.5% of the territory of the Moscow region. If economic trends and population growth rates in the Moscow region continue until 2030, we should expect a further increase in the influence of open cut load on agricultural land towards its intensification.

The impact of coal mining in Kuzbass on the ecosystem of the region is studied in the article. Large-scale mining operations have led to land disturbance over large areas. The coal industry development program, which provides for a significant increase in production, will further aggravate the identified problem. There are a lot of reclamation mechanisms, they must be implemented comprehensively, be high-tech. Large-scale disturbance of land resources, and land retirement, its pollution and littering are the most significant problems requiring a primary solution. The mechanism of state and regional legal regulation of disturbed land reclamation is proposed. Improving the quality of reclamation will be facilitated by the development of a strategy for the environmental remediation, which would be included into the Concept for reclamation of disturbed lands.

From 2016, on the territory of the Belgorod region, the project ‘Formation of a system for maintenance and reproduction of fieldprotective woodlands (forest belts) on agricultural lands in the Belgorod region’ is being implemented. The main goal of this project is to ensure safety and maintenance in proper condition of at least 50 thousand hectares of protective woodland (forest belts) on the territory of the Belgorod region by securing responsibility of specific land users and (or) local authorities. Based on the results of this work, materials for calculating the areas of former farms in the Belgorod region were collected and systematized; on the territories of urban and rural settlements of the Belgorod region, on basis of the data obtained, an inventory of field-protective, gully forest belts and forest belts, adjacent to local highways, has to be carried out, an inventory of forest belts adjacent to highways of regional importance has to be carried out, municipal applications for cleaning and mulching forest belts has to be drawn up. Thus, assessment of the state of forest belts of the Belgorod region and their subsequent restoration or revegetation is carried out.

The article considers the analytical and statistical materials unfolding parameters of economic and ecological crime in Kemerovo Oblast. The close interrelation of quality indicators of the presented groups of crime is caused by the specifics of the coal-mining region. The illegal coal-mining developing in the territory of Kemerovo Oblast within the decades led to the irreversible ecological effects: pollution of rivers, air, soil, deforestation, etc. The administration of Kemerovo Oblast and the enterprises of the coal-mining industry paid attention to the problem not bringing desirable results. Formed in 2011 upon the request of the governor of Kemerovo Oblast the Prosecutor’s Office on the supervision of respecting the rule of law in the coal-mining industry combines the efforts of Rostekhnadzor (the Federal Service for Ecological, Technological and Nuclear Supervision) and Rosprirodnadzor (the Federal Service for Nature Management Supervision) for the prevention of proliferation of crimes in this sphere. Kemerovo State University combines the efforts of scientific community, executive authorities, public organizations and not indifferent residents of Kemerovo Oblast to recognize and prevent economic and ecological offenses. Kemerovo State University has been regularly holding the ecological and tax forums on its basis in recent years. They let bring the factors causing threat of the national security of the region and country in general to the authorities and the public.

The technology of desalination of fine-textured soils using deep tillage, leaching operations and chemical reclamation agents includes the calculation of doses of ameliorants and leaching requirements, methods and timing of reclamation, soil treatment, selection of crops, and the need for fertilizers on reclamation lands. The stages of preparation of the fields before the application of ameliorants are reviewed. Initially, the fields are divided into lots, the location of loose ameliorants clamps is determined. The options for overall and selective land reclamation are considered. When conducting selective reclamation, it is necessary to locate the solonetzic spots and mark them with range poles. The options for cultivating the soil of irrigated lands characterized by increased density of the subsurface soil horizon of more than 1.4 t/m3 are reviewed. The most pressed are the solonetzic soils with a poor structure or without it. The most preferred methods of cultivating degraded soils (deep loosening or plowing) are identified, which are one of the necessary techniques to provide the greatest depth, degree and speed of soil desalinization. The options for leaching of chloride-sulfate loamy soils, chloride-sulfate salinization and soda salinization are considered.
