Biodiesel is used in Europe as an additive to diesel fuel to reduce soot emissions (including carcinogens), as well as to improve the balance of carbon dioxide on the planet. Using the biodiesel in internal combustion engines tends to show higher nitrogen oxides emissions compared to diesel. In this paper, the impact of flame temperature, ignition delay and density on NOx formation of biodiesel and its component for both stationary engine and automotive engine were analysed. Emissions of nitrogen oxides increase with increasing load. In no-load modes, biodiesel shows lower emissions of nitrogen oxides than diesel.

Value of the air temperature change in the compartment was calculated. The balance method of the spent heat is used to assess the level of keeping a proper temperature environment in the bus saloon when a comfortable microclimate is created for passengers via the proper conditioning system functioning. Models of the heat transmission notions were used for calculation regarding different categories of the heat load creation. A developed numeric algorithm was introduced in the article as well as a program for modelling the transitory heat processes in the compartment of the city bus equipped with an air-conditioner enabling to take into account various constructive decisions in the system of comfortable provision of city buses and model unstable heat processes.

The article is devoted to the use of Park’s vector method for operational control of the rotor condition of induction motors of traction and auxiliary drives of railway rolling stock. In the course of the analysis, it was established that in order to increase the reliability and efficiency of the operation of vehicles, it is necessary to improve and implement diagnostic systems for monitoring the current state of the most damaged elements of induction electric motors built into the drive. This paper presents the development of a new approach to monitoring the state of a squirrel-cage rotor, which is based on the use of Park’s vector approach. In the course of the research, the issue of taking into account the asymmetric power supply of the engine during the diagnostic period during industrial operation was solved, which affects the accuracy of determining the degree of damage to the rotor. On the basis of the conducted research, the algorithm of the module for diagnosing the state of the squirrel-cage rotor of an induction motor has been developed for practical use in the built-in on-board systems of vehicles, which allows us to determine the degree of damage and monitor the development of the rotor defect during operation, including in automated mode.
