This was proven in a large class of models for energies that do not grow too fast with the system size. Considering the example of the generalized random energy model, we show that the conjecture breaks down for energies proportional to the volume of the system, and describe the far more complex behavior that then sets in.

These networks need to be be engineered in terms of cost, energy and spectral efficiency, number of connected devices and latency. Cognitive Radio (CR) is one of the promising techniques to meet the above mentioned requirements that operates at microwave frequencies and exploits underutilized spectrum bands. Universal Filtered Multi-Carrier (UFMC) is a new channel judgment method that use multicarrier modulation scheme. UFMC is consider like an applicant for the 5th Generation of wireless communication systems and replaces OFDM .Latest research indicates that cellular networks are better operated with the novel UFMC with enhanced performance in terms of improved spectral efficiency, less usage of energy as well as latency. However, an emerging area of Information and Communication technology (ICT) are Cognitive radio based Sensor Networks (CSNs). Even basic observations using empirical approach can reveal important observations, especially if the above mentioned latest channel estimation technique (UFMC) , is tried and observed for CSNs. The option of CSNs as test bed is based on abundant use of the supporting in various social and military setups. In this work, part of frequency synchronization and channel estimation are explore and correlate with OFDM and UFMC systems with CSNs as testbed, primarily with a computer-aided software simulator and also with real time experimentation in special laboratory if resources permit.

For further information contact us at helpdesk@openaire.eudescription Publicationkeyboard_double_arrow_right Article 2018Publisher:HAL CCSD Authors: Pflaum, Peter; Alamir, Mazen; Lamoudi, Mohamed Yacine;International audience; Electric vehicle charging stations (EVCSs) come along with great challenges for the power grid due to their highly uncertain load characteristic. This is particularly the case for charging stations located in nonresidential areas, such as commercial centers, company sites, or car-rental stations. For a safe and sustainable operation of the power grid, distribution system operators require reliable load forecasts of such charging stations. In this brief, a robust EVCS management strategy is proposed, which provides a day-ahead upper limit profile of the EVCS's power consumption. In real time, this upper limit profile is strictly respected while guaranteeing-at a configurable probability-the Quality of Service. The strategy is based on randomized algorithms and relies on a statistic occupancy model of the EVCS while not requiring any online forecasts of each EVs' arrival and departure schedules. In a case study based on statistic data, which has been provided by the Euref Campus in Berlin, the feasibility and relevance of the proposed approach are demonstrated.

We review some rigorous results confirming the validity of this conjecture. In the context of the SK models, we analyse the limits of the validity of the conjecture for energy levels growing with the volume of the system. In the case of the Generalised Random energy model, we give a complete analysis for the behaviour of the local energy statistics at all energy scales. In particular, we show that, in this case, the REM conjecture holds exactly up to energies EN < βcN, where βc is the critical temperature. We also explain the more complex behaviour that sets in at higher energies.

Frascolla, Valerio
Frascolla, Valerio in OpenAIREMobile devices, at each new release of the standards and following users' continuous requests of new services, have to support more and more features, which are also becoming more and more demanding from the computational point of view. As a consequence, being able to fulfil new requirements and at the same time to provide power efficient chips is nowadays the most important challenge for mobile devices system designers. To tackle this challenge, novel system level performance and power modeling approaches have been proposed allowing hardware/software (HW/SW) architectures to be explored right at the very first steps of a System-on-Chip (SoC) design flow. However, existing solutions have limited support for the power optimization of the memory system (including SDRAM) that may occupy more than 70% of a chip area and consume more than 30% of the total energy. In this paper, we propose a SystemC-TLM-based simulation framework at Electronic System Level (ESL), which is able to support the joint exploration of a SoC architecture and its memory configuration. This new framework helps in optimizing the SoC energy consumption while matching the required performance in terms of power and performance, as well as of memory bandwidth and latency.

We present a biophysical model of promoter search by Escherichia coli RNA polymerase. We use an unconventional weight matrix derived from promoter strength data to extract the energy landscape common to a large set of known promoters. This exhibits a continuous strengthening of the binding energy when approaching the transcription start site from either side. During promoter search, the RNA polymerase slides along the DNA double helix (one-dimensional diffusion) after randomly binding to it. We discuss the possibility that the sliding has a sequence-dependent component, which implies that the energy landscape influences the movement with respect to speed, direction and efficiency. Based on this assumption, we relate the obtained energy landscape around the promoters to the one-dimensional diffusion of the RNA polymerase. Our analytical results suggest that the sequence-dependent random walk slows down and gets directed upon entering a region of 500 bp around the transcription start site, which significantly increases the efficiency of promoter search. These results may explain how the RNA polymerase is able to find the promoter in biologically relevant times out of a vast excess of non-target sites. Moreover, they provide evidence for a sequence-dependent component of one-dimensional diffusion.

The main advantage in this architecture is the capability of setting banks in low power modes when they are not accessed, such that only the accessed bank is maintained in active mode. In this paper, an heuristic approach is developed at system level to find, both an efficient allocation of application's tasks to memory banks, and the corresponding memory configuration that lessen the energy consumption: number of banks and the size of each bank. Experiments on a multimedia application show the effectiveness of this approach.
