Measurements were realised by a comparative approach with interspecific cultivation of fourteen arable weeds growing with a domestic species cultivated at a large scale: the winter wheat (Triticum aestivum var Darius). Results show that arable weeds characterised by an important biomass and allocation of biomass to the stems are responsible for a decrease in wheat biomass, and for the ear, a decrease in height, biomass and number of seeds. These results are discussed in view of predicting competitive abilities of arable weeds with a simple method and for the conservation of arable weeds since some of them are among the most threatened species of the European flora.

This would likely affect the relative competitive position of Quebec in North America. Using the Delphi technique and partial budgets, climate change scenarios for the 2050 period were elaborated and their impact on relative competitiveness assessed for Quebec and its competitors in North America. Results indicate that Quebec competitive position would improve due to more favorable conditions for corn and apple production and due to worsen conditions for the competitors in maple syrup production.

Dans la zone cotonnière ouest du Burkina Faso, la variabilité et la diversité des revenus des exploitations agricoles familiales (EAF) demandent pour ces dernières des accompagnements appropriés. Objectifs. Cet article rend compte de cette diversité et des besoins d’accompagnement selon les types d’EAF identifiés. Méthode. Les données ont été collectées par la méthode active de recherche participative et par enquête auprès d’un échantillon raisonné de 120 exploitations dans la commune de Koumbia. Une analyse en composante principale avec des indicateurs économiques de l’EAF suivie d’une classification ascendante hiérarchique ont été appliquées. Les caractéristiques structurelles, les pratiques de production agro-pastorales, les perceptions des chefs d’EAF sur les contraintes et opportunités de production agropastorale ont été comparées par une analyse de variance. Résultats. Les résultats montrent trois types d’exploitations : les exploitations à faible revenu culture (agriculteurs), à fort revenu culture (agro-éleveurs) et à revenu élevage (éleveurs). À la lumière de leurs structures, pratiques de production, performances technico-économiques et opportunités de production agricole, leur accompagnement peut porter sur plusieurs innovations durables communes ou spécifiques des types identifiés. Des accompagnements sur la gestion des ressources de l’exploitation, les bonnes pratiques de gestion de la fertilité des sols et des animaux sont communs aux trois types d’EAF. Les cultures fourragères, l’embouche et la production laitière sont spécifiques aux agro-éleveurs et éleveurs. L’amélioration de la valeur nutritive des résidus de cultures et l’entretien des bœufs de trait conviennent plus aux agriculteurs. Conclusions. Pour réussir, le processus d’accompagnement doit prendre en compte ces spécificités et la notion de durabilité.

During a 6 month period, 14 patients were treated for benign renal cyst using an ultrasound guided puncture. Presenting complaints were flank pain (12 cases), hypertension (1 case), polycythaemia (1 case). Only cyst of 5 centimeters diameter or more were assigned to this treatment. After needle puncture, the cyst was evacuated and then filled with sterile 95% alcohol. Clinical and anatomical results, after 6 months, were good in 9 cases, 2 cases showed good anatomical results with persistence of initial symptoms, and there were 3 failures corresponding to large cysts of 10 cm diameter or more. Percutaneous alcoholization of moderate benign cysts is a safe, simple and reliable method.

La race sicilo-sarde est la seule race ovine laitière tunisienne. Elle est à la base d’une micro-filière de production de fromages. Son effectif s’est effondré dans les années 1990 en raison de choix économiques et politiques peu favorables ainsi que d’un manque de maitrise technique des élevages, mettant la pérennité de cette filière en danger. Toutefois, des initiatives pour la préserver sont entreprises depuis quelques années. Cette revue de la littérature, scientifique et professionnelle, fait le point sur les connaissances actuelles de la filière laitière ovine et présente les actions en cours ou à entreprendre en faveur de sa sauvegarde. Littérature. La race sicilo-sarde affiche des niveaux de production laitière faibles mais améliorables, même dans des conditions extensives. Les conduites d’élevage (allaitement/sevrage/traite) et de reproduction devraient être revues afin d’accroitre la production laitière. De même, la voie génétique devrait être mobilisée par la mise en place d’un schéma de sélection appuyé sur le relevé de phénotypes d’intérêt en ferme (quantité et qualité de lait, morphologie mammaire) et/ou par introduction de sang sarde en recourant à l’insémination artificielle. Conclusions. Un regain d’intérêt pour la race sicilo-sarde en Tunisie est constaté depuis 2005, à travers une réorganisation de la filière, insufflant un nouveau dynamisme au sein de la profession. Les marges importantes de progrès ont été mises en évidence, tant au niveau des animaux que des éleveurs. L’aval de la filière doit aussi aider à une meilleure identification des produits et du terroir de production auprès des consommateurs. Ainsi se dessineront de nouvelles opportunités de développement de cette micro-filière, seule à même d’assurer sa durabilité.

Results show that arable weeds characterised by an important biomass and allocation of biomass to the stems are responsible for a decrease in wheat biomass, and for the ear, a decrease in height, biomass and number of seeds. These results are discussed in view of predicting competitive abilities of arable weeds with a simple method and for the conservation of arable weeds since some of them are among the most threatened species of the European flora.

This would likely affect the relative competitive position of Quebec in North America. Using the Delphi technique and partial budgets, climate change scenarios for the 2050 period were elaborated and their impact on relative competitiveness assessed for Quebec and its competitors in North America. Results indicate that Quebec competitive position would improve due to more favorable conditions for corn and apple production and due to worsen conditions for the competitors in maple syrup production.

Dans la zone cotonnière ouest du Burkina Faso, la variabilité et la diversité des revenus des exploitations agricoles familiales (EAF) demandent pour ces dernières des accompagnements appropriés. Objectifs. Cet article rend compte de cette diversité et des besoins d’accompagnement selon les types d’EAF identifiés. Méthode. Les données ont été collectées par la méthode active de recherche participative et par enquête auprès d’un échantillon raisonné de 120 exploitations dans la commune de Koumbia. Une analyse en composante principale avec des indicateurs économiques de l’EAF suivie d’une classification ascendante hiérarchique ont été appliquées. Les caractéristiques structurelles, les pratiques de production agro-pastorales, les perceptions des chefs d’EAF sur les contraintes et opportunités de production agropastorale ont été comparées par une analyse de variance. Résultats. Les résultats montrent trois types d’exploitations : les exploitations à faible revenu culture (agriculteurs), à fort revenu culture (agro-éleveurs) et à revenu élevage (éleveurs). À la lumière de leurs structures, pratiques de production, performances technico-économiques et opportunités de production agricole, leur accompagnement peut porter sur plusieurs innovations durables communes ou spécifiques des types identifiés. Des accompagnements sur la gestion des ressources de l’exploitation, les bonnes pratiques de gestion de la fertilité des sols et des animaux sont communs aux trois types d’EAF. Les cultures fourragères, l’embouche et la production laitière sont spécifiques aux agro-éleveurs et éleveurs. L’amélioration de la valeur nutritive des résidus de cultures et l’entretien des bœufs de trait conviennent plus aux agriculteurs. Conclusions. Pour réussir, le processus d’accompagnement doit prendre en compte ces spécificités et la notion de durabilité.

During a 6 month period, 14 patients were treated for benign renal cyst using an ultrasound guided puncture. Presenting complaints were flank pain (12 cases), hypertension (1 case), polycythaemia (1 case). Only cyst of 5 centimeters diameter or more were assigned to this treatment. After needle puncture, the cyst was evacuated and then filled with sterile 95% alcohol. Clinical and anatomical results, after 6 months, were good in 9 cases, 2 cases showed good anatomical results with persistence of initial symptoms, and there were 3 failures corresponding to large cysts of 10 cm diameter or more. Percutaneous alcoholization of moderate benign cysts is a safe, simple and reliable method.

La race sicilo-sarde est la seule race ovine laitière tunisienne. Elle est à la base d’une micro-filière de production de fromages. Son effectif s’est effondré dans les années 1990 en raison de choix économiques et politiques peu favorables ainsi que d’un manque de maitrise technique des élevages, mettant la pérennité de cette filière en danger. Toutefois, des initiatives pour la préserver sont entreprises depuis quelques années. Cette revue de la littérature, scientifique et professionnelle, fait le point sur les connaissances actuelles de la filière laitière ovine et présente les actions en cours ou à entreprendre en faveur de sa sauvegarde. Littérature. La race sicilo-sarde affiche des niveaux de production laitière faibles mais améliorables, même dans des conditions extensives. Les conduites d’élevage (allaitement/sevrage/traite) et de reproduction devraient être revues afin d’accroitre la production laitière. De même, la voie génétique devrait être mobilisée par la mise en place d’un schéma de sélection appuyé sur le relevé de phénotypes d’intérêt en ferme (quantité et qualité de lait, morphologie mammaire) et/ou par introduction de sang sarde en recourant à l’insémination artificielle. Conclusions. Un regain d’intérêt pour la race sicilo-sarde en Tunisie est constaté depuis 2005, à travers une réorganisation de la filière, insufflant un nouveau dynamisme au sein de la profession. Les marges importantes de progrès ont été mises en évidence, tant au niveau des animaux que des éleveurs. L’aval de la filière doit aussi aider à une meilleure identification des produits et du terroir de production auprès des consommateurs. Ainsi se dessineront de nouvelles opportunités de développement de cette micro-filière, seule à même d’assurer sa durabilité.
