This research examines the role of poverty and logistical operations under the circumstance of environmental deterioration with panel data of ASEAN states from 2007 to 2017. The system-generalized method of moments (GMM) was adopted due to the presence of endogeneity. The results indicate that poverty and logistical operations have significant and positive relationship with greater environmental degradation. Because poor people are not skilled, they have to consume natural resources in original and unsustainable way for their survival and profits, which results in greater level of deforestation. On another hand, lacking fuel-efficient/green vehicles and green practices in logistical operations of ASEAN countries, logistics activities mainly depend on fossil fuel consumption, which generates greater carbon emission, methane, and greenhouse emissions that can directly damage the environment and become a primary source of climate change. Therefore, reduction in environmental degradation can be achieved through reduction in poverty and encouraging renewable energy and green practices in logistical operations. In addition, this study also provides detailed policy implications to regulatory bodies and corporate sector in order to improve environmental sustainability through adoption of green practices and reduction in poverty.

AbstractThis endeavor explores the nexus between health expenditure, consumption of renewable energy, economic growth, and the quality of the environment in 10 central European nations from 2005 to 2018 utilizing the techniques of fully generalized least square (FGLS) and generalized method of moments (GMM) estimation. The outcomes reveal the significant association between health, economic, and environmental factors with green energy utilization. The utilization of fossil fuels negatively influences the quality of the environment and boosts the risk of several diseases associated with the undernourishment and respiratory system and thus increases the death ratio. Furthermore, the utilization of operations based on renewable energy usage exerts a substantial favorable influence upon residents of Central European (CE) nations and thus helps decrease health and pollution‐related expenses. So, there needs to be a collaboration among all the stakeholders so that green growth in the service and industrial sectors can be achieved.

In today's era, the world economy needs to move towards a green transformation. Green total factor productivity provides the judgment about a country or region's ability to achieve long-term sustainable development goals. However, many factors considerably affect green total factor productivity that needs to be explored and clarified. This panel study investigates the link between technological input, environmental policies, governmental involvement, manufacturing and logistics industry cooperation, renewable energy consumption, and green total factor productivity in the context of Chinese's manufacturing and logistics industry. Hypotheses are tested through fully modified ordinary least squares (FMOLS) and dynamic ordinary least squares (DOLS) econometric technique. The study used 12 cities data mainly taken from China Urban Statistical Yearbook (2005-2019) and National Economic and Social Development Statistics Bulletin. The results indicate that technological input, environmental policies, governmental involvement, manufacturing and logistics industry cooperation, and renewable energy consumption are significantly linked to green total factor productivity. The result also implies that the factors mentioned above have a crucial role in the transformation process. Moreover, the current research results will help popularize green total factor productivity and provide a new starting point for reducing non-renewable energy consumption and environmental pollution.

Cependant, pour y parvenir, il faut des politiques énergétiques axées sur les facteurs qui déterminent la croissance économique verte (GEG). Par conséquent, la présente étude examine le lien à long terme entre GEG et certains facteurs qui déterminent son comportement à l'aide de données annuelles de 1990 à 2020 pour l'Organisation de coopération et de développement économiques. Les preuves empiriques reposent sur des estimateurs de deuxième génération comprenant des tests de dépendance transversale, des tests de Westerlund et une méthode de régression quantile momentanée. Les analyses empiriques révèlent la pertinence de l'efficacité énergétique, des énergies renouvelables et de la technologie en tant que prédicteurs positifs de GEG. Complémentairement, les résultats révèlent que l'intégrité du gouvernement joue un rôle essentiel dans la mise en œuvre de processus de production plus efficaces et respectueux de l'environnement. À partir des résultats obtenus, plusieurs suggestions politiques sont issues de l'élaboration d'une politique énergétique visant à atténuer la dégradation de l'environnement. A través de un proceso de producción basado en bajas emisiones de carbono, lograr el desarrollo sostenible es el objetivo deseado de los diversos actores sociales y políticos de todo el mundo. Sin embargo, lograr esto requiere políticas energéticas centradas en los factores que determinan el crecimiento económico verde (GEG). En consecuencia, el estudio actual investiga el nexo a largo plazo entre GEG y algunos factores que determinan su comportamiento utilizando datos anuales de 1990 a 2020 para la Organización para la Cooperación y el Desarrollo Económicos. La evidencia empírica se basa en estimadores de segunda generación que comprenden pruebas de dependencia transversal, pruebas de Westerlund y un método de regresión cuantitativa de momento. Las retroalimentaciones de los análisis empíricos descubren la pertinencia de la eficiencia energética, la energía renovable y la tecnología como predictores positivos de GEG. Además, los hallazgos revelan que la integridad del gobierno desempeña un papel esencial en la implementación de procesos de producción más eficientes y respetuosos con el medio ambiente. Les analyses empiriques révèlent la pertinence de l'efficacité énergétique, des énergies renouvelables et de la technologie en tant que prédicteurs positifs de GEG. Complémentairement, les résultats révèlent que l'intégrité du gouvernement joue un rôle essentiel dans la mise en œuvre de processus de production plus efficaces et respectueux de l'environnement. À partir des résultats obtenus, plusieurs suggestions politiques sont issues de l'élaboration d'une politique énergétique visant à atténuer la dégradation de l'environnement. A través de un proceso de producción basado en bajas emisiones de carbono, lograr el desarrollo sostenible es el objetivo deseado de los diversos actores sociales y políticos de todo el mundo. Sin embargo, lograr esto requiere políticas energéticas centradas en los factores que determinan el crecimiento económico verde (GEG). En consecuencia, el estudio actual investiga el nexo a largo plazo entre GEG y algunos factores que determinan su comportamiento utilizando datos anuales de 1990 a 2020 para la Organización para la Cooperación y el Desarrollo Económicos. La evidencia empírica se basa en estimadores de segunda generación que comprenden pruebas de dependencia transversal, pruebas de Westerlund y un método de regresión cuantitativa de momento. Las retroalimentaciones de los análisis empíricos descubren la pertinencia de la eficiencia energética, la energía renovable y la tecnología como predictores positivos de GEG. Through a production process based on low carbon emissions, achieving sustainable development is the desired goal of the various social and political actors around the world.However, achieving this requires energy policies focused on the factors that determine green economic growth (GEG).Consequently, the current study investigates the long-run nexus between GEG and some factors that determine its behaviour using annual data from 1990 to 2020 for the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development.The empirical evidence relies on second-generation estimators comprising cross-sectional dependence tests, Westerlund tests, and method of moment quantile regression.Feedbacks from the empirical analyses uncover the pertinence of energy efficiency, renewable energy, and technology as positive predictors of GEG.Complementarily, the findings reveal that the Integrity of the Government plays an essential role in implementing more efficient and environmentally friendly production processes.From the results found, several policy suggestions are derived from being considered to develop an energy policy aimed at mitigating environmental degradation. من خلال عملية إنتاج تعتمد على انبعاثات كربونية منخفضة، فإن تحقيق التنمية المستدامة هو الهدف المنشود لمختلف الجهات الفاعلة الاجتماعية والسياسية في جميع أنحاء العالم. ومع ذلك، يتطلب تحقيق ذلك سياسات طاقة تركز على العوامل التي تحدد النمو الاقتصادي الأخضر (GEG). وبالتالي، فإن الدراسة الحالية تحقق في العلاقة طويلة المدى بين GEG وبعض العوامل التي تحدد سلوكها باستخدام البيانات السنوية من 1990 إلى 2020 لمنظمة التعاون الاقتصادي والتنمية. تعتمد الأدلة التجريبية على الجيل الثاني من المقدرين الذين يشملون اختبارات الاعتماد عبر القطاعات، واختبارات Westerlund، وطريقة الانحدار الكمي اللحظي. تكشف ردود الفعل من التحليلات التجريبية عن أهمية كفاءة الطاقة والطاقة المتجددة والتكنولوجيا كمؤشرات إيجابية لـ GEG. بالإضافة إلى ذلك، تكشف النتائج أن نزاهة الحكومة تلعب دورًا أساسيًا في تنفيذ عمليات إنتاج أكثر كفاءة وصديقة للبيئة. من النتائج التي تم العثور عليها، تم استخلاص العديد من اقتراحات السياسات من النظر فيها لتطوير سياسة طاقة تهدف إلى التخفيف من التدهور البيئي.

Considering the importance of green economic growth and environmental sustainability in the discussion, it is crucial to understand its critical contributing factors and to draw results implications for the green policy. This research used the data of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) member countries for a period from 2005 to 2017. It adopted the panel autoregressive distributed lag technique to examine the hypotheses. The findings revealed that environmental sustainability is strongly and positively associated with national scale-level green practices, including renewable energy, regulatory pressure, and eco-friendly policies, and sustainable use of natural resources. Conversely, in our model, the "regulatory pressure" has an insignificant effect on economic growth. A necessary contribution of the present study is that a positive effect of green practices on national scale economic and environmental variables, particularly in the scenario of SAARC member states, can be noticed. At the end of the present study, we have provided policy implications for regulatory authorities and discussed potential areas for future research.

This paper reveals new opportunities to advance supplier selection (SS) research from a multidimensional perspective. Moreover, this study aims to formalise SS knowledge to enable the appropriate selection of sustainable, resilient and circular criteria.Design/methodology/approachThis study is developed in two stages: first, a systematic literature review is conducted to select relevant papers. Descriptive and thematic analyses are employed to analyze criteria, solving approaches and case studies. Second, a criterion knowledge-based framework is developed and validated by experts to be implemented as ontology using Protégé software.FindingsEvaluating the viability of suppliers need further studies to integrate other criteria and to align SS objectives with research advancement. Artificial intelligence tools are needed to revolutionize and optimize the traditional techniques used to solve this problem. Literature lucks frameworks for specific sectors. The proposed ontology provides a consistent criteria knowledge base.Practical implicationsFor academics, the results of this study highlight opportunities to improve the viable SS process. From a managerial perspective, the proposed ontology can assist managers in selecting the appropriate criteria. Future works can enrich the proposed ontology and integrate this knowledge base into an information system.Originality/valueThis study contributes to promoting knowledge about viable SS. Capitalizing the knowledge base of criteria in a computer-interpretable manner supports the digitalization of this critical decision.

CO2 emissions are the leading causes of deterioration in air quality and global warming. Likewise, it has been shown that clean energy reduces air pollution, so this would be a way out of environmental pollution. Some previous studies have focused on knowing the determinants of environmental pollution; however, they have omitted the State's role. Thus, this study explores the long-term nexus between CO2 emissions and renewable energy, energy efficiency, fossil fuels, GDP, property rights from 1995 to 2019 in nine developed countries. The results reveal a long-term equilibrium relationship in developed European countries, but not in developed non-European countries. The main results show that renewable energy and energy efficiency are negatively correlated with CO2 emissions. In developed European countries, a 1% increase in renewable energy consumption represents a 0.03% decrease in CO2 emissions. Finally, some policy measures are suggested to achieve environmental sustainability.

The aim of this study is to examine the association between national economic and environmental indicators with green logistics performance in a time series data of UK since 1981 to 2016. The research used autoregressive distributed lag method to understand the long-run and short-run relationships of national scale economic (foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows, per capita income) and environmental indicators (total greenhouse gases, fossil fuel, and renewable energy) on green logistics. In the short run, the research findings indicate that the green logistics and renewable energy have positive relationship, while fossil fuel is negatively correlated with green logistics operations. On the other hand, in the long run, the results show that FDI inflows, renewable energy sources, and per capita income have statistically significant and positive association with green logistics activities, while foreign investments attracted by environmental friendly policies and practices adopted in global logistics operations, which not only increase the environmental sustainability but also enhance economic activities with greater export opportunities in the region.

The aim of this study is to examine the association between national economic and environmental indicators with green logistics performance in a time series data of UK since 1981 to 2016. The research used autoregressive distributed lag method to understand the long-run and short-run relationships of national scale economic (foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows, per capita income) and environmental indicators (total greenhouse gases, fossil fuel, and renewable energy) on green logistics. In the short run, the research findings indicate that the green logistics and renewable energy have positive relationship, while fossil fuel is negatively correlated with green logistics operations. On the other hand, in the long run, the results show that FDI inflows, renewable energy sources, and per capita income have statistically significant and positive association with green logistics activities, while foreign investments attracted by environmental friendly policies and practices adopted in global logistics operations, which not only increase the environmental sustainability but also enhance economic activities with greater export opportunities in the region.

This research examines the role of poverty and logistical operations under the circumstance of environmental deterioration with panel data of ASEAN states from 2007 to 2017. The system-generalized method of moments (GMM) was adopted due to the presence of endogeneity. The results indicate that poverty and logistical operations have significant and positive relationship with greater environmental degradation. Because poor people are not skilled, they have to consume natural resources in original and unsustainable way for their survival and profits, which results in greater level of deforestation. On another hand, lacking fuel-efficient/green vehicles and green practices in logistical operations of ASEAN countries, logistics activities mainly depend on fossil fuel consumption, which generates greater carbon emission, methane, and greenhouse emissions that can directly damage the environment and become a primary source of climate change. Therefore, reduction in environmental degradation can be achieved through reduction in poverty and encouraging renewable energy and green practices in logistical operations. In addition, this study also provides detailed policy implications to regulatory bodies and corporate sector in order to improve environmental sustainability through adoption of green practices and reduction in poverty.

In today's era, the world economy needs to move towards a green transformation. Green total factor productivity provides the judgment about a country or region's ability to achieve long-term sustainable development goals. However, many factors considerably affect green total factor productivity that needs to be explored and clarified. This panel study investigates the link between technological input, environmental policies, governmental involvement, manufacturing and logistics industry cooperation, renewable energy consumption, and green total factor productivity in the context of Chinese's manufacturing and logistics industry. Hypotheses are tested through fully modified ordinary least squares (FMOLS) and dynamic ordinary least squares (DOLS) econometric technique. The study used 12 cities data mainly taken from China Urban Statistical Yearbook (2005-2019) and National Economic and Social Development Statistics Bulletin. The results indicate that technological input, environmental policies, governmental involvement, manufacturing and logistics industry cooperation, and renewable energy consumption are significantly linked to green total factor productivity. The result also implies that the factors mentioned above have a crucial role in the transformation process. Moreover, the current research results will help popularize green total factor productivity and provide a new starting point for reducing non-renewable energy consumption and environmental pollution.

Cependant, pour y parvenir, il faut des politiques énergétiques axées sur les facteurs qui déterminent la croissance économique verte (GEG). Par conséquent, la présente étude examine le lien à long terme entre GEG et certains facteurs qui déterminent son comportement à l'aide de données annuelles de 1990 à 2020 pour l'Organisation de coopération et de développement économiques. Les preuves empiriques reposent sur des estimateurs de deuxième génération comprenant des tests de dépendance transversale, des tests de Westerlund et une méthode de régression quantile momentanée. Les analyses empiriques révèlent la pertinence de l'efficacité énergétique, des énergies renouvelables et de la technologie en tant que prédicteurs positifs de GEG. Complémentairement, les résultats révèlent que l'intégrité du gouvernement joue un rôle essentiel dans la mise en œuvre de processus de production plus efficaces et respectueux de l'environnement. À partir des résultats obtenus, plusieurs suggestions politiques sont issues de l'élaboration d'une politique énergétique visant à atténuer la dégradation de l'environnement. En consecuencia, el estudio actual investiga el nexo a largo plazo entre GEG y algunos factores que determinan su comportamiento utilizando datos anuales de 1990 a 2020 para la Organización para la Cooperación y el Desarrollo Económicos. Through a production process based on low carbon emissions, achieving sustainable development is the desired goal of the various social and political actors around the world.However, achieving this requires energy policies focused on the factors that determine green economic growth (GEG).Consequently, the current study investigates the long-run nexus between GEG and some factors that determine its behaviour using annual data from 1990 to 2020 for the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development.The empirical evidence relies on second-generation estimators comprising cross-sectional dependence tests, Westerlund tests, and method of moment quantile regression.Feedbacks from the empirical analyses uncover the pertinence of energy efficiency, renewable energy, and technology as positive predictors of GEG.Complementarily, the findings reveal that the Integrity of the Government plays an essential role in implementing more efficient and environmentally friendly production processes.From the results found, several policy suggestions are derived from being considered to develop an energy policy aimed at mitigating environmental degradation. من خلال عملية إنتاج تعتمد على انبعاثات كربونية منخفضة، فإن تحقيق التنمية المستدامة هو الهدف المنشود لمختلف الجهات الفاعلة الاجتماعية والسياسية في جميع أنحاء العالم. ومع ذلك، يتطلب تحقيق ذلك سياسات طاقة تركز على العوامل التي تحدد النمو الاقتصادي الأخضر (GEG). وبالتالي، فإن الدراسة الحالية تحقق في العلاقة طويلة المدى بين GEG وبعض العوامل التي تحدد سلوكها باستخدام البيانات السنوية من 1990 إلى 2020 لمنظمة التعاون الاقتصادي والتنمية. تعتمد الأدلة التجريبية على الجيل الثاني من المقدرين الذين يشملون اختبارات الاعتماد عبر القطاعات، واختبارات Westerlund، وطريقة الانحدار الكمي اللحظي. تكشف ردود الفعل من التحليلات التجريبية عن أهمية كفاءة الطاقة والطاقة المتجددة والتكنولوجيا كمؤشرات إيجابية لـ GEG. بالإضافة إلى ذلك، تكشف النتائج أن نزاهة الحكومة تلعب دورًا أساسيًا في تنفيذ عمليات إنتاج أكثر كفاءة وصديقة للبيئة. من النتائج التي تم العثور عليها، تم استخلاص العديد من اقتراحات السياسات من النظر فيها لتطوير سياسة طاقة تهدف إلى التخفيف من التدهور البيئي.

Considering the importance of green economic growth and environmental sustainability in the discussion, it is crucial to understand its critical contributing factors and to draw results implications for the green policy. This research used the data of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) member countries for a period from 2005 to 2017. It adopted the panel autoregressive distributed lag technique to examine the hypotheses. The findings revealed that environmental sustainability is strongly and positively associated with national scale-level green practices, including renewable energy, regulatory pressure, and eco-friendly policies, and sustainable use of natural resources. Conversely, in our model, the "regulatory pressure" has an insignificant effect on economic growth. A necessary contribution of the present study is that a positive effect of green practices on national scale economic and environmental variables, particularly in the scenario of SAARC member states, can be noticed. At the end of the present study, we have provided policy implications for regulatory authorities and discussed potential areas for future research.

This paper reveals new opportunities to advance supplier selection (SS) research from a multidimensional perspective. Moreover, this study aims to formalise SS knowledge to enable the appropriate selection of sustainable, resilient and circular criteria.Design/methodology/approachThis study is developed in two stages: first, a systematic literature review is conducted to select relevant papers. Descriptive and thematic analyses are employed to analyze criteria, solving approaches and case studies. Second, a criterion knowledge-based framework is developed and validated by experts to be implemented as ontology using Protégé software.FindingsEvaluating the viability of suppliers need further studies to integrate other criteria and to align SS objectives with research advancement. Artificial intelligence tools are needed to revolutionize and optimize the traditional techniques used to solve this problem. Literature lucks frameworks for specific sectors. The proposed ontology provides a consistent criteria knowledge base.Practical implicationsFor academics, the results of this study highlight opportunities to improve the viable SS process. From a managerial perspective, the proposed ontology can assist managers in selecting the appropriate criteria. Future works can enrich the proposed ontology and integrate this knowledge base into an information system.Originality/valueThis study contributes to promoting knowledge about viable SS. Capitalizing the knowledge base of criteria in a computer-interpretable manner supports the digitalization of this critical decision.

CO2 emissions are the leading causes of deterioration in air quality and global warming. Likewise, it has been shown that clean energy reduces air pollution, so this would be a way out of environmental pollution. Some previous studies have focused on knowing the determinants of environmental pollution; however, they have omitted the State's role. Thus, this study explores the long-term nexus between CO2 emissions and renewable energy, energy efficiency, fossil fuels, GDP, property rights from 1995 to 2019 in nine developed countries. The results reveal a long-term equilibrium relationship in developed European countries, but not in developed non-European countries. The main results show that renewable energy and energy efficiency are negatively correlated with CO2 emissions. In developed European countries, a 1% increase in renewable energy consumption represents a 0.03% decrease in CO2 emissions. Finally, some policy measures are suggested to achieve environmental sustainability.

CO2 emissions are the leading causes of deterioration in air quality and global warming. Likewise, it has been shown that clean energy reduces air pollution, so this would be a way out of environmental pollution. Some previous studies have focused on knowing the determinants of environmental pollution; however, they have omitted the State's role. Thus, this study explores the long-term nexus between CO2 emissions and renewable energy, energy efficiency, fossil fuels, GDP, property rights from 1995 to 2019 in nine developed countries. The results reveal a long-term equilibrium relationship in developed European countries, but not in developed non-European countries. The main results show that renewable energy and energy efficiency are negatively correlated with CO2 emissions. In developed European countries, a 1% increase in renewable energy consumption represents a 0.03% decrease in CO2 emissions. Finally, some policy measures are suggested to achieve environmental sustainability.

The aim of this study is to examine the association between national economic and environmental indicators with green logistics performance in a time series data of UK since 1981 to 2016. The research used autoregressive distributed lag method to understand the long-run and short-run relationships of national scale economic (foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows, per capita income) and environmental indicators (total greenhouse gases, fossil fuel, and renewable energy) on green logistics. In the short run, the research findings indicate that the green logistics and renewable energy have positive relationship, while fossil fuel is negatively correlated with green logistics operations. On the other hand, in the long run, the results show that FDI inflows, renewable energy sources, and per capita income have statistically significant and positive association with green logistics activities, while foreign investments attracted by environmental friendly policies and practices adopted in global logistics operations, which not only increase the environmental sustainability but also enhance economic activities with greater export opportunities in the region.
