As a high-quality FR resource, community integrated energy station (CIES) can effectively respond to frequency deviation caused by renewable energy generation, helping to solve the frequency problem of power system. This paper proposes an optimal planning model of CIES considering FR service. First, the model of FR service is established to unify the time scale of FR service and economic operation. Then, an optimal planning model of CIES considering FR service is proposed, with which the revenue of participating in the FR service is obtained under market mechanism. The flexible electricity pricing model is introduced to flatten the peak tie-line power of CIES. Case studies are conducted to analyze the annual cost and the revenue of CIES participating in FR service, which suggest that providing ancillary services can bring potential revenue.

Ground source heat pumps (GSHPs) are now widely used in community integrated energy systems (CIES) because of their high efficiency in energy conversion. However, the coefficient of performance (COP) of GSHPs is unstable if the soil temperature changes with seasonal imbalanced cooling and heating loads, thus downgrading the overall performance of CIES. In this paper, an annual optimization model for CIES that considers the seasonal balance of GSHPs is established. Then, a day-ahead operation strategy based on the pre-allocated load of the GSHP in the yearly balance is proposed while considering the uncertainties in daily conditions. The proposed strategy is validated on a practical CIES in China and assessed on a year-round time scale. The results show that the operation of CIES can be stable, economical and sustainable while ensuring the seasonal balance of the GSHP.

The distribution network is characterised by flexible interconnections and expansions based on soft open points, which enables it to dispatch power flow over the entire system with enhanced controllability and compatibility. Herein, we propose a multi-resource dynamic coordinated planning method of flexible distribution network that allows allocation strategies to be determined over a long-term planning period. Additionally, we establish a probabilistic framework to address source-load uncertainties, which mitigates the security risks of voltage violations and line overloads. A practical distribution network is adopted for flexible upgrading based on soft open points, and its cost benefits are evaluated and compared with that of traditional planning approaches. By adjusting the acceptable violation probability in chance constraints, a trade-off between investment efficiency and operational security can be realised.

Edge computing technology can effectively solve huge challenges posed by the large number of terminal devices accessing and massive data processing in digital distribution networks. Burst tasks, such as faults and data requests from the cloud, can occur at any time for edge computing devices in distribution networks. These tasks are unpredictable and usually hold the highest priority and must be completed as soon as possible. Although resources can be reserved partially at each period in the pre-scheduled operation plan, they may still be insufficient to handle burst tasks adequately. A real-time resource dispatch approach for burst tasks is developed in this study to address the above problems. The concept of flexibility for edge computing devices is presented, determining the real-time dispatch duration. Real-time resource dispatch and task handling processing are analyzed in detail, considered as task real-time dispatch models, computation process real-time dispatch constraints, and resource limitation constraints. The proposed real-time resource dispatch approach takes full advantage of the transferable characteristics for partial original plan tasks to adjust the pre-scheduled operation plan and release flexible resources for immediate processing of the burst task, completing burst tasks quickly and minimizing the impact for previous planned tasks on the edge computing device. The capability of the proposed method to efficiently deal with the burst tasks is also verified by the case study.
