description Publicationkeyboard_double_arrow_right Article 2024 United KingdomPublisher:Informa UK Limited Funded by:EC | DTADDEC| DTADDAlejandro Jiménez Rios; Maria Nogal; Vagelis Plevris; Rafael Ramirez; Margarita L. Petrou;Despite its recent adoption, Industry 5.0 has attracted significant attention from researchers across various fields. However, the Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Management, Operation, and Conservation (AECMO&C) industry, particularly in the context of built cultural heritage conservation, has lagged in this regard. This study aims to gain a deeper understanding of conservation professionals’ perceptions regarding the adoption of Industry 5.0 principles and enabling technologies, as well as the perceived barriers and the skills needed to address them. A survey questionnaire was designed, tested, and implemented to collect relevant data. Analysis of the collected data reveals that, although there is a clear recognition of the significance of Industry 5.0 principles and enabling technologies, their application in built cultural heritage conservation remains limited. Future initiatives should prioritise bridging knowledge gaps, enhancing training programmes, and securing necessary resources to overcome these existing barriers.

In this review paper, we computationally analyze a vast volume of published articles in the field of Adaptive Learning, as obtained by the Scopus Database. Particularly, we use a query with search terms targeting the area of Adaptive Learning Systems by utilizing a combination of specific keywords. Accordingly, we apply a multidimensional scaling algorithm to construct bibliometric maps for keywords, authors, and references. Subsequently, we present the computational results for the studied dataset, reveal significant patterns appearing in the field of adaptive learning and the inter-item associations, and interpret the findings based on the current state-of-the-art literature in the area. Furthermore, we demonstrate the time-series of the evolution of the research terms, their trends over time, as well as their prevalent statistical associations.

Petrou, Margarita; Ramirez, Rafael; Plevris, Vagelis; +1 AuthorsJiménez Rios, Alejandro; L. Petrou, Margarita; Ramirez, Rafael; Plevris, Vagelis; Nogal, Maria;Industry 4.0 has led to digitalization and an increase in industrial activity. However, it has recently been recognized as inadequate for achieving European goals by 2030. Therefore, a novel Industry 5.0 paradigm has emerged in response to the unexpected negative effects caused by its predecessor. Industry 5.0 is mainly based on three foundational ideas: i) human-centrism, ii) resilience, and iii) sustainability. Human-centric solutions and human-machine-interaction; bio-inspired technologies and smart materials; real time-based digital twins and simulation; cyber safe data transmission, storage, and analysis; artificial intelligence; and energy efficiency and trustworthy autonomy have been recognized as the enabling technologies of this transformative vision. This paper outlines the protocol adopted to conduct a systematic literature review with the aim of exploring how the Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Management, Operation, and Conservation (AECMO&C) industry can adapt and be better prepared to embrace novel Industry 5.0 principles and enabling technologies, ultimately resulting in enhanced conservation practices for the built cultural heritage environment. Registration The protocol has been registered on Open Science Framework (24/02/2024) and follows the PRISMA-P guidelines.

Petrou, Margarita;Despite being adopted only recently, Industry 5.0 has already attracted significant attention from researchers in various fields. However, the Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Management, Operation, and Conservation (AECMO&C) industry, particularly in the context of built cultural heritage conservation, has been left behind. Thus, the aim of this work is to better understand the perceptions of conservation professionals regarding the adoption of Industry 5.0 principles and enabling technologies, the perceived barriers and needed skills to overcome them. A survey questionnaire has been designed, tested, and implemented. After analysing and discussing the information collected, it has been concluded that while there is a clear recognition of the importance of Industry 5.0 principles and enabling technologies, their adoption in built cultural heritage conservation remains limited. Future efforts should focus on bridging knowledge gaps, enhancing training, and securing resources to overcome existing barriers.
