    Abstract In this letter, the local fractional similarity solution is addressed for the non-differentiable diffusion equation. Structuring the similarity transformations via the rule of the local fractional partial derivative operators, we transform the diffusive operator into a similarity ordinary differential equation. The obtained result shows the non-differentiability of the solution suitable to describe the properties and behaviors of the fractal content.

    <abstract><p>An analysis of steady two-dimensional boundary layer MHD (magnetohydrodynamic) nanofluid flow with nonlinear thermal radiation across a horizontally moving thin needle was performed in this study. The flow along a thin needle is considered to be laminar and viscous. The Rosseland estimate is utilized to portray the radiation heat transition under the energy condition. Titanium dioxide (TiO$ _2 $) is applied as the nanofluid and water as the base fluid. The objective of this work was to study the effects of a magnetic field, thermal radiation, variable viscosity and thermal conductivity on MHD flow toward a porous thin needle. By using a suitable similarity transformation, the nonlinear governing PDEs are turned into a set of nonlinear ODEs which are then successfully solved by means of the homotopy analysis method using Mathematica software. The comparison result for some limited cases was achieved with earlier published data. The governing parameters were fixed values throughout the study, i.e., $ k_1 $ = 0.3, $ M $ = 0.6, $ F_r $ = 0.1, $ \delta_\mu $ = 0.3, $ \chi $ = 0.001, $ Pr $ = 0.7, $ Ec $ = 0.5, $ \theta_r $ = 0.1, $ \epsilon $ = 0.2, $ Rd $ = 0.4 and $ \delta_k $ = 0.1. After detailed analysis of the present work, it was discovered that the nanofluid flow diminishes with growth in the porosity parameter, variable viscosity parameter and magnetic parameter, while it upsurges when the rate of inertia increases. The thermal property enhances with the thermal conductivity parameter, radiation parameter, temperature ratio parameter and Eckert number, while it reduces with the Prandtl number and size of the needle. Moreover, skin friction of the nanofluid increases with corresponding growth in the magnetic parameter, porosity parameter and inertial parameter, while it reduces with growth in the velocity ratio parameter. The Nusselt number increases with increases in the values of the inertia parameter and Eckert number, while it decliens against a higher estimation of the Prandtl number and magnetic parameter. This study has a multiplicity of applications like petroleum products, nuclear waste disposal, magnetic cell separation, extrusion of a plastic sheet, cross-breed powered machines, grain storage, materials production, polymeric sheet, energy generation, drilling processes, continuous casting, submarines, wire coating, building design, geothermal power generations, lubrication, space equipment, biomedicine and cancer treatment.</p></abstract>

    The main object of this paper is to investigate the Helmholtz and diffusion equations on the Cantor sets involving local fractional derivative operators. The Cantor-type cylindrical-coordinate method is applied to handle the corresponding local fractional differential equations. Two illustrative examples for the Helmholtz and diffusion equations on the Cantor sets are shown by making use of the Cantorian and Cantor-type cylindrical coordinates.

    The main object of this paper is to investigate the Helmholtz and diffusion equations on the Cantor sets involving local fractional derivative operators. The Cantor-type cylindrical-coordinate method is applied to handle the corresponding local fractional differential equations. Two illustrative examples for the Helmholtz and diffusion equations on the Cantor sets are shown by making use of the Cantorian and Cantor-type cylindrical coordinates.

    Abstract The non-differentiable asymptotic approximation theory is first proposed in this article. One illustrative example for testing the free damped vibrations problem involving local fractional differential operator is given. The obtained result is remarkably simple and efficient to show the fractal behavior of a linear oscillator in fractal medium. Some graphical evidences are also provided.

    In this article, a novel wavelet collocation method based on Fibonacci wavelets is proposed to solve the dual-phase-lag (DPL) bioheat transfer model in multilayer skin tissues during hyperthermia treatment. Firstly, the Fibonacci polynomials and the corresponding wavelets along with their fundamental properties are briefly studied. Secondly, the operational matrices of integration for the Fibonacci wavelets are built by following the celebrated approach of Chen and Haiso. Thirdly, the proposed method is utilized to reduce the underlying DPL model into a system of algebraic equations, which has been solved using the Newton iteration method. Towards the culmination, the effect of different parameters including the tissue-wall temperature, time-lag due to heat flux, time-lag due to temperature gradient, blood perfusion, metabolic heat generation, heat loss due to diffusion of water, and boundary conditions of various kinds on multilayer skin tissues during hyperthermia treatment are briefly presented and all the outcomes are portrayed graphically.

    Local fractional derivatives were investigated intensively during the last few years. The coupling method of Sumudu transform and local fractional calculus (called as the local fractional Sumudu transform) was suggested in this paper. The presented method is applied to find the nondifferentiable analytical solutions for initial value problems with local fractional derivative. The obtained results are given to show the advantages.

    Theoretical influence of the buoyancy and thermal radiation effects on the MHD (magnetohydrodynamics) flow across a stretchable porous sheet were analyzed in the present study. The Darcy–Forchheimer model and laminar flow were considered for the flow problem that was investigated. The flow was taken to incorporate a temperature-dependent heat source or sink. The study also incorporated the influences of Brownian motion and thermophoresis. The general form of the buoyancy term in the momentum equation for a free convection boundary layer is derived in this study. A favorable comparison with earlier published studies was achieved. Graphs were used to investigate and explain how different physical parameters affect the velocity, the temperature, and the concentration field. Additionally, tables are included in order to discuss the outcomes of the Sherwood number, the Nusselt number, and skin friction. The fundamental governing partial differential equations (PDEs), which are used in the modeling and analysis of the MHD flow problem, were transformed into a collection of ordinary differential equations (ODEs) by utilizing the similarity transformation. A semi-analytical approach homotopy analysis method (HAM) was applied for approximating the solutions of the modeled equations. The model finds several important applications, such as steel rolling, nuclear explosions, cooling of transmission lines, heating of the room by the use of a radiator, cooling the reactor core in nuclear power plants, design of fins, solar power technology, combustion chambers, astrophysical flow, electric transformers, and rectifiers. Among the various outcomes of the study, it was discovered that skin friction surges for 0.3 ≤F1≤ 0.6, 0.1 ≤k1≤ 0.4 and 0.3 ≤M≤ 1.0, snf declines for 1.0 ≤Gr≤ 4.0. Moreover, the Nusselt number augments for 0.5 ≤R≤ 1.5, 0.2 ≤Nt≤ 0.8 and 0.3 ≤Nb≤ 0.9, and declines for 2.5 ≤Pr≤ 5.5. The Sherwood number increases for 0.2 ≤Nt≤ 0.8 and 0.3 ≤Sc≤ 0.9, and decreases for 0.1 ≤Nb≤ 0.7.

Some testing examples are given to illustrate the capability of the proposed method for the heat-conduction equation on a Cantor set and the damped wave equation in fractal strings.     Abstract In this letter, the local fractional similarity solution is addressed for the non-differentiable diffusion equation. Structuring the similarity transformations via the rule of the local fractional partial derivative operators, we transform the diffusive operator into a similarity ordinary differential equation. The obtained result shows the non-differentiability of the solution suitable to describe the properties and behaviors of the fractal content.

    <abstract><p>An analysis of steady two-dimensional boundary layer MHD (magnetohydrodynamic) nanofluid flow with nonlinear thermal radiation across a horizontally moving thin needle was performed in this study. The flow along a thin needle is considered to be laminar and viscous. The Rosseland estimate is utilized to portray the radiation heat transition under the energy condition. Titanium dioxide (TiO$ _2 $) is applied as the nanofluid and water as the base fluid. The objective of this work was to study the effects of a magnetic field, thermal radiation, variable viscosity and thermal conductivity on MHD flow toward a porous thin needle. By using a suitable similarity transformation, the nonlinear governing PDEs are turned into a set of nonlinear ODEs which are then successfully solved by means of the homotopy analysis method using Mathematica software. The comparison result for some limited cases was achieved with earlier published data. The governing parameters were fixed values throughout the study, i.e., $ k_1 $ = 0.3, $ M $ = 0.6, $ F_r $ = 0.1, $ \delta_\mu $ = 0.3, $ \chi $ = 0.001, $ Pr $ = 0.7, $ Ec $ = 0.5, $ \theta_r $ = 0.1, $ \epsilon $ = 0.2, $ Rd $ = 0.4 and $ \delta_k $ = 0.1. After detailed analysis of the present work, it was discovered that the nanofluid flow diminishes with growth in the porosity parameter, variable viscosity parameter and magnetic parameter, while it upsurges when the rate of inertia increases. The thermal property enhances with the thermal conductivity parameter, radiation parameter, temperature ratio parameter and Eckert number, while it reduces with the Prandtl number and size of the needle. Moreover, skin friction of the nanofluid increases with corresponding growth in the magnetic parameter, porosity parameter and inertial parameter, while it reduces with growth in the velocity ratio parameter. The Nusselt number increases with increases in the values of the inertia parameter and Eckert number, while it decliens against a higher estimation of the Prandtl number and magnetic parameter. This study has a multiplicity of applications like petroleum products, nuclear waste disposal, magnetic cell separation, extrusion of a plastic sheet, cross-breed powered machines, grain storage, materials production, polymeric sheet, energy generation, drilling processes, continuous casting, submarines, wire coating, building design, geothermal power generations, lubrication, space equipment, biomedicine and cancer treatment.</p></abstract>

    The main object of this paper is to investigate the Helmholtz and diffusion equations on the Cantor sets involving local fractional derivative operators. The Cantor-type cylindrical-coordinate method is applied to handle the corresponding local fractional differential equations. Two illustrative examples for the Helmholtz and diffusion equations on the Cantor sets are shown by making use of the Cantorian and Cantor-type cylindrical coordinates.

    Abstract The non-differentiable asymptotic approximation theory is first proposed in this article. One illustrative example for testing the free damped vibrations problem involving local fractional differential operator is given.     In this article, a novel wavelet collocation method based on Fibonacci wavelets is proposed to solve the dual-phase-lag (DPL) bioheat transfer model in multilayer skin tissues during hyperthermia treatment. Firstly, the Fibonacci polynomials and the corresponding wavelets along with their fundamental properties are briefly studied. Secondly, the operational matrices of integration for the Fibonacci wavelets are built by following the celebrated approach of Chen and Haiso. Thirdly, the proposed method is utilized to reduce the underlying DPL model into a system of algebraic equations, which has been solved using the Newton iteration method. Towards the culmination, the effect of different parameters including the tissue-wall temperature, time-lag due to heat flux, time-lag due to temperature gradient, blood perfusion, metabolic heat generation, heat loss due to diffusion of water, and boundary conditions of various kinds on multilayer skin tissues during hyperthermia treatment are briefly presented and all the outcomes are portrayed graphically.

    Local fractional derivatives were investigated intensively during the last few years. The coupling method of Sumudu transform and local fractional calculus (called as the local fractional Sumudu transform) was suggested in this paper. The presented method is applied to find the nondifferentiable analytical solutions for initial value problems with local fractional derivative. The obtained results are given to show the advantages.

    Theoretical influence of the buoyancy and thermal radiation effects on the MHD (magnetohydrodynamics) flow across a stretchable porous sheet were analyzed in the present study. The Darcy–Forchheimer model and laminar flow were considered for the flow problem that was investigated. The flow was taken to incorporate a temperature-dependent heat source or sink. The study also incorporated the influences of Brownian motion and thermophoresis. The general form of the buoyancy term in the momentum equation for a free convection boundary layer is derived in this study. A favorable comparison with earlier published studies was achieved. Graphs were used to investigate and explain how different physical parameters affect the velocity, the temperature, and the concentration field. Additionally, tables are included in order to discuss the outcomes of the Sherwood number, the Nusselt number, and skin friction. The fundamental governing partial differential equations (PDEs), which are used in the modeling and analysis of the MHD flow problem, were transformed into a collection of ordinary differential equations (ODEs) by utilizing the similarity transformation. A semi-analytical approach homotopy analysis method (HAM) was applied for approximating the solutions of the modeled equations. The model finds several important applications, such as steel rolling, nuclear explosions, cooling of transmission lines, heating of the room by the use of a radiator, cooling the reactor core in nuclear power plants, design of fins, solar power technology, combustion chambers, astrophysical flow, electric transformers, and rectifiers. Among the various outcomes of the study, it was discovered that skin friction surges for 0.3 ≤F1≤ 0.6, 0.1 ≤k1≤ 0.4 and 0.3 ≤M≤ 1.0, snf declines for 1.0 ≤Gr≤ 4.0. Moreover, the Nusselt number augments for 0.5 ≤R≤ 1.5, 0.2 ≤Nt≤ 0.8 and 0.3 ≤Nb≤ 0.9, and declines for 2.5 ≤Pr≤ 5.5. The Sherwood number increases for 0.2 ≤Nt≤ 0.8 and 0.3 ≤Sc≤ 0.9, and decreases for 0.1 ≤Nb≤ 0.7.

    Theoretical influence of the buoyancy and thermal radiation effects on the MHD (magnetohydrodynamics) flow across a stretchable porous sheet were analyzed in the present study. The Darcy–Forchheimer model and laminar flow were considered for the flow problem that was investigated. The flow was taken to incorporate a temperature-dependent heat source or sink. The study also incorporated the influences of Brownian motion and thermophoresis. The general form of the buoyancy term in the momentum equation for a free convection boundary layer is derived in this study. A favorable comparison with earlier published studies was achieved. Graphs were used to investigate and explain how different physical parameters affect the velocity, the temperature, and the concentration field. Additionally, tables are included in order to discuss the outcomes of the Sherwood number, the Nusselt number, and skin friction. The fundamental governing partial differential equations (PDEs), which are used in the modeling and analysis of the MHD flow problem, were transformed into a collection of ordinary differential equations (ODEs) by utilizing the similarity transformation. A semi-analytical approach homotopy analysis method (HAM) was applied for approximating the solutions of the modeled equations. The model finds several important applications, such as steel rolling, nuclear explosions, cooling of transmission lines, heating of the room by the use of a radiator, cooling the reactor core in nuclear power plants, design of fins, solar power technology, combustion chambers, astrophysical flow, electric transformers, and rectifiers. Among the various outcomes of the study, it was discovered that skin friction surges for 0.3 ≤F1≤ 0.6, 0.1 ≤k1≤ 0.4 and 0.3 ≤M≤ 1.0, snf declines for 1.0 ≤Gr≤ 4.0. Moreover, the Nusselt number augments for 0.5 ≤R≤ 1.5, 0.2 ≤Nt≤ 0.8 and 0.3 ≤Nb≤ 0.9, and declines for 2.5 ≤Pr≤ 5.5. The Sherwood number increases for 0.2 ≤Nt≤ 0.8 and 0.3 ≤Sc≤ 0.9, and decreases for 0.1 ≤Nb≤ 0.7.
