    Authors: Habisch, Thomas;

    Hintergrund: Wärmedämmstoffe sind ein entscheidender Faktor für klimabelastende Einflüsse eines Gebäudes auf die Umwelt. Ausgelöst durch die Energiekrise Anfang der 1970er Jahre und ursprünglich durch den wirtschaftlichen Anreiz vorangetrieben, entwickelten sich Wärmedämmstoffe in den letzten Jahrzehnten zu einem festen Bestandteil im Gebäudebau. Heute werden mit modernsten Rechenmethoden zahlreiche Kennwerte ermittelt, um den geeigneten Dämmstoff in der passenden Ausführung für den jeweiligen Anwendungsbereich zu ermitteln. Ständig werden neue Produkte mit verbesserten Eigenschaften auf den Markt gebracht und den Konsumenten wird ein schwer überschaubares Produktportfolio geboten. Ziel: Ziel der Arbeit ist der Vergleich von Dämmstoffen auf anorganischer Basis mit nach-wachsenden Naturstoffen. Unter Betrachtung des gesamten Lebenszyklus sollen die Umweltauswirkungen der verschiedenen Materialien festgestellt werden. Darüber hinaus sollen auch weitere Aspekte, wie beispielsweise rechtliche Grundlagen und die geeigneten Einsatz-gebiete, betrachtet werden. Methodik: Eine systematische Literaturrecherche fand in Fachbibliotheken sowie online in für das Bauwesen relevanten Datenbanken und Zeitschriften statt. Ergebnisse: Da es keinen Dämmstoff gibt, der sich für alle Anwendungsgebiete eines Gebäudes eignet, ist eine pauschale Antwort nicht möglich. Bezüglich der Anwendbarkeit kann jedoch gesagt werden, dass synthetische Produkte häufig sehr robust und wiederstandfähig sind und daher eher für Bereiche mit größeren Belastungen (z.B. Perimeterdämmung) geeignet sind. Naturprodukte hingegen sind meist diffusionsoffen und haben sehr gute Fähigkeiten hinsichtlich der Feuchtigkeitsregulierung. Betrachtet man die Umweltauswirkungen, haben synthetische Produkte logischerweise den Nachteil, dass sie aus fossilen Rohstoffen gewonnen werden. Darüber hinaus ist ihre Herstellung meist auch energieaufwändiger als jene der Naturstoffe. Entlastend für die synthetischen Produkte ist jedoch zu nennen, dass beispielsweise bei der Herstellung von Glaswolle ein nennenswerter Anteil mit Altglas abgedeckt wird und viele der verwendeten fossilen Rohstoffe noch in ausreichender Menge vorhanden sind. Naturprodukte werden aus nachwachsen-den Rohstoffen gewonnen und benötigen in der Regel auch weit weniger Energie bei ihrem Herstellungsprozess. Schlussfolgerung: Um die Klimaziele erreichen zu können, bedarf es in Zukunft klare Konzepte und konsequent umgesetzte Maßnahmen zur Steigerung der Energieeffizienz von Ge-bäuden, zur Steigerung des Anteils von Erneuerbaren Energieträgern als Raumheizung, zur Steigerung der Energieeffizienz der privaten Stromnachfrage sowie zur Senkung von Treibhausgasemissionen. Eine wichtige Rolle bei der Erreichung der Klimaziele kommt den Wärmedämmstoffen zu. Durch ihren Einsatz senken sie den Heizwärmebedarf von Gebäuden. Dadurch sinken der Energieverbrauch sowie die an die Umwelt abgegeben Emissionen von Gebäuden. Keywords Dämmstoffe, Ökologische Naturstoffe, anorganische - organische Produkte, Nachhaltigkeit, ökologisch Background: Heat insulators are an essential factor for noxious impacts of a building to the environment. Due to the oil crisis in the early seventies heat insulators were used on buildings to reduce heating costs. Heat insulators became a fixed part in building industry. Nowadays state of the art methods are used to determine the best heat insulator for each application. New products with better insulating characteristics are constantly presented to the market which offers the customer a wide selection of heat insulators. Purpose: Purpose of this bachelor thesis is a comparison of heat insulators made from mineral resources compared to heat insulators made from renewable resources. The examina-tion of the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) illustrates the environmental impact of different materials. In addition, lawful background and appropriate areas of applications are considered as well. Methodology: A systematic research of literature has been done in compartment libraries as well as in online data bases and compartment journals. Results: There is no heat insulator that can be used in every area of application. A comparison of applicableness has shown that synthetic products are more resistant. There-fore, they are prevalent used in areas with high strains. Natural products are most of the time diffusion furnace and have good competences by controlling moisture. Synthetic products have worse impacts on the environment because they are made of fossil resources. Furthermore, synthetic products often have a higher energy consumption during their production. The usage of recycling materials can reduce the negative environmental impacts. Conclusions: In order to reach the climate targets, it is necessary raise the energy efficiency and share of renewable energy carriers for space heating of buildings. Contrariwise the ex-pulsion of greenhouse gases needs to be reduced. Heat insulator are playing an in important role to accomplish the climate targets. The usage of heat insulators causes a reduction of energy consumption with means that a reduced amount of emissions is released into the en-vironment.     Authors: Michitsch, Lisa Marie;

    Neben den Krankheiten Anorexia nervosa, Bulimie nervosa und Binge-Eating-Disorder existiert noch eine andere immer häufiger auftretende Essstörung, die vor allem durch übermäßigen Sport ausgelöst wird: Anorexia athletica. Anorexia athletica, oder auch athletische Nervosa genannt, tritt besonders häufig bei AthletInnen auf, die einen Leistungssport ausüben, bei dem viel Wert auf einen schlanken Körper gelegt wird, wie z.B. Skispringen, Radfahren, Klettern und Langstreckenlauf (Reel, 2013, S.25).Wenn auch Anorexia athletica bis dato noch nicht laut ICD 10 und 11 (International Code of Deseases) als eigene Krankheit aufgelistet sei, besteht für Betroffene ein großes Risiko, ausgehend von Anorexia athletica an einer Vollform der Anorexia nervosa zu erkranken. Ein typisches Merkmal für SportlerInnen mit Anorexia athletica ist die starke Verminderung des eigenen Körpergewichts durch eine zu geringe Kalorienzufuhr bei zusätzlich hoher sportlicher Belastung. Wesentlich ist, dass im Gegensatz zur Magersucht, eine Körperschemastörung keine Begleiterscheinung ist. Die Dauer der Erkrankung beschränkt sich im Normalfall auf den Zeitraum, in dem der übermäßige Sport betrieben wird. Das verminderte Essverhalten dient lediglich dazu, eine bestimmte Leistungsfähigkeit zu erzielen und nicht dazu, so dünn wie möglich zu sein. Die erreichte Leistungsfähigkeit und der damit verbundene Erfolg führt zu einer konstanten Aufrechterhaltung des gestörten Essverhaltens. Wenn die Komponenten sportliche Leistungsfähigkeit und Körpergewicht nicht zueinander in Relation gesetzt werden, kann es dazu kommen, dass sowohl die gewünschte Leistung nicht mehr erbracht werden kann, als auch, dass negative Auswirkungen auf die Gesundheit entstehen (Hoffmann, 2009, S. 6). Ein zu gering gewählter Kalorienwert kann zu einer hormonellen Regulationsstörung und folglich zum Ausbilden einer sekundären Amenorrhö, sowie einer Osteopenie/Osteoperose führen (Friedmann-Bette, 2012, S.7). Neben Auswirkungen wie die Störung des Energiestoffwechsels, hormonelles Ungleichgewicht und Mangel an Mineralien und Vitaminen, spielen auch psychische Störungen als Nebenerscheinung für Betroffene eine wichtige Rolle (Hoffmann, 2009, S. 1). In addition to anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge-eating disorder, there is another increasingly common eating disorder that is triggered primarily by excessive exercise: anorexia athletica. Anorexia athletica, or athletic nervosa, is especially common in athletes who participate in competitive sports that place a lot of emphasis on a lean body, such as ski jumping, cycling, rock climbing, and long-distance running (Reel, 2013, p. 25).Even if anorexia athletica has not yet been listed as a separate disease according to ICD 10 and 11 (International Code of Diseases), there is a high risk of progressing from anorexia athletica to a full-blown form of Anorexia nervosa. A typical characteristic for athletes with anorexia athletica is the strong reduction of their own body weight due to a too low calorie intake, with an additional high athletic load. It is essential that, in contrast to anorexia, a body schema disorder is not an accompanying symptom. The duration of the disease is normally limited to the period in which people practice the excessive sport. The reduced eating behaviour serves only to tell a certain performance and not to be as thin as possible. The achieved performance and the associated success leads to a constant maintenance of the disturbed eating behaviour. If the components of athletic performance and body weight are not put into relation, it can come to the fact that the desired performance can no longer be achieved and that negative effects on health arise (Hoffmann, 2009, p. 6). A calorie value that is too low can lead to a hormonal regulation disorder and consequently to the development of secondary amenorrhea and osteopenia/osteoperosis. (Friedmann-Bette, 2012, p. 7). In addition to effects such as the disturbance of energy metabolism, hormonal imbalance and deficiency of minerals and vitamins, psychological side effects also play an important role (Hoffmann, 2009, p. 1).

    Authors: Poßegger, David;

    Angesichts steigender Energiekosten und zunehmender ökologischer Verantwortung stehen Firmen vor der Herausforderung, ihre Energieeffizienz zu optimieren, ohne dabei die Qualität und Verfügbarkeit ihrer IT-Dienste zu beeinträchtigen. Load Shifting, die zeitliche oder räumliche Verlagerung des Energieverbrauchs, bietet eine vielversprechende Lösung zur Kostensenkung und ökologischen Nachhaltigkeit. Es werden zuerst relevante Grundlagen und Begrifflichkeiten eingeführt, darunter die Definitionen von Load Shifting, Demand Side Management und verschiedenen Cloud-Modellen, sowie die Unterscheidung von Load Shifting und Peak Shaving. Das Hauptergebnis dieser Arbeit ist die Entwicklung eines Leitfadens zur Implementierung von Load Shifting-Strategien für Unternehmen. Im Hauptteil der Arbeit werden zunächst die Grundlagen beschrieben, gefolgt von der Darstellung einer Projektarbeit, die Load Shifting-Strategien in der Praxis analysiert und entwickelt. Basierend auf den Ergebnissen dieser Projektarbeit wird ein detaillierter Empfehlungsleitfaden für Unternehmen erarbeitet. Dieser Leitfaden umfasst unter anderem eine unternehmensspezifische Analyse, Identifikation von Potenzialen, Risikoanalyse, sowie einen schrittweisen Umsetzungsplan. Des Weiteren wird die Auswahl passender Technologien und die Integration der Load Shifting-Strategien in bestehende Prozesse thematisiert. Load Shifting stellt nicht nur eine technische Herausforderung, sondern auch eine organisatorische Gelegenheit dar, um Energieverbrauchsmuster zu optimieren und die IT-Strategie eines Unternehmens mit den übergeordneten Zielen der Nachhaltigkeit und Kosteneffizienz zu verbinden. Durch den praxisorientierten Ansatz des Empfehlungsleitfadens wird eine konkrete Hilfestellung für Unternehmen bereitgestellt, um Load Shifting-Initiativen planvoll und erfolgreich zu implementieren. Abschließend wird ein Ausblick auf zukünftige Entwicklungen und Forschungsfelder im Bereich Load Shifting in der Unternehmens-IT gegeben. Die Arbeit leistet damit einen Beitrag zur aktuellen Diskussion über Energieeffizienz und Nachhaltigkeit in der IT und bietet Unternehmen praktische Lösungsansätze zur Bewältigung der damit verbundenen Herausforderungen. In Anbetracht der steigenden Energiepreise und des wachsenden Bewusstseins für Umweltverantwortung steht zu erwarten, dass die Anwendung von Load Shifting-Strategien in naher Zukunft zu einem wichtigen Bestandteil fortschrittlicher Unternehmensführung aufsteigen wird. Given rising energy costs and increasing ecological responsibility, companies are facing the challenge of optimizing their energy efficiency without compromising the quality and availability of their IT services. Load shifting, the temporal or spatial relocation of energy consumption, offers a promising solution for cost reduction and ecological sustainability. First, relevant fundamentals and terminology are introduced, including the definitions of Load Shifting, Load Management, and various cloud models, as well as the differentiation between Load Shifting and Peak Shaving. The main outcome of this work is the development of a guideline for implementing Load Shifting strategies for businesses. In the main part of the work, the fundamentals are first described, followed by the presentation of a project work that analyzes and develops load shifting strategies in practice. Based on the results of this project work, a detailed recommendation guide for companies is developed. This guide includes, among other things, a company-specific analysis, identification of potentials, risk analysis, as well as a step-by-step implementation plan. Furthermore, the selection of suitable technologies and the integration of load shifting strategies into existing processes are discussed. Load Shifting represents not only a technical challenge but also an organizational opportunity to optimize energy consumption patterns and align a company's IT strategy with overarching goals of sustainability and cost efficiency. The practical approach of the recommendation guideline provides concrete assistance for businesses to systematically and successfully implement Load Shifting initiatives. Finally, an outlook on future developments and research areas in the field of Load Shifting in enterprise IT is provided. The paper thereby contributes to the current discussion on energy efficiency and sustainability in IT and offers practical solutions for companies to address associated challenges. Considering the rising energy prices and growing awareness of environmental responsibility, it is expected that the adoption of Load Shifting strategies will become a crucial component of advanced corporate management in the near future.

    Authors: Oppenauer, Klaus Siegfried;

    Elektrizität spielt eine entscheidende Rolle in Bezug auf Nachhaltigkeit, da sie in vielen Fällen eine essenzielle Grundlage für moderne Technologien zur Minderung von Treibhausgasemissionen darstellt. Für die zielgerichtete Förderung von effizienten Nachhaltigkeitsmaßnahmen ist ein umfassendes Verständnis über die Wirkung alternativer Technologien unter Berücksichtigung komplexer Strompreisbildungsmechanismen von zentraler Bedeutung. Um die Gesamteffizienz umweltfreundlicher Technologien umfassend zu bewerten, müssen alle anfallenden Kosten, Emissionen, Steuern und Förderungen über den vollständigen Lebenszyklus einer Nachhaltigkeitsmaßnahme im Vergleich zur bestehenden konventionellen Technologie bilanziert werden. Unter Berücksichtigung dieser Aspekte wurden als Merkmal dieser Arbeit umfassende Berechnungsmodelle hergeleitet. Die entwickelten Analysemethoden versuchen einen Beitrag zu leisten, um unterschiedliche um-weltpolitische Maßnahmen kombiniert hinsichtlich ökonomischer und ökologischer Effizienz parallel zu bewerten. Mit Hilfe der vorgestellten Methoden wurden exemplarisch die beiden Nachhaltigkeitsmaßnahmen Elektromobilität und Photovoltaik für private Haushalte hinsichtlich Effizienz auf mikroökonomischer Ebene analysiert und makroökonomische Auswirkungen abgeschätzt. Electricity plays a crucial role in terms of sustainability, as in many cases it is essential for modern technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. For the targeted promotion of effi-cient sustainability measures, a comprehensive understanding of the impact of alternative technologies, considering complex electricity pricing mechanisms, is of central importance. To comprehensively assess the overall efficiency of environmentally friendly technologies, all costs, emissions, taxes and subsidies incurred must be accounted for over the entire life cycle of a sustainability measure compared to existing conventional technology. Taking these as-pects into account, comprehensive calculation models were derived as a feature of this work. The developed analysis methods try to contribute to the parallel evaluation of different envi-ronmental policy measures combined regarding economic and ecological efficiency. With the help of the methods presented, the two sustainability measures electromobility and photovol-taics for private households were analyzed regarding efficiency at the microeconomic level and macroeconomic effects were estimated.

    Bei der vorliegenden Bachelorarbeit handelt es sich um eine Ausarbeitung der Charakteristika von sogenannten Ethikbanken. Es wird ihr Geschäftsmodell analysiert und gefragt, welchen Mehrwert diese für die Gesellschaft leisten bzw. zu leisten beabsichtigen. Des Weiteren wird gefragt, in welcher Form sich Ethikbanken von traditionellen Banken unterscheiden und welche Gemeinsamkeiten es zwischen ihnen gibt. Dafür soll untersucht werden, inwieweit Kriterien aus den Bereichen Umwelt, Soziales und verantwortungsvolle Unternehmensführung (ESG-Kriterien) bei beiden Arten von Banken berücksichtigt werden. Zusätzlich wird im Rahmen dieser Bachelorarbeit auf den Begriff der „Verantwortung“ genauer eingegangen. Dabei wird auf das Werk „Prinzip Verantwortung“ von Hans Jonas Bezug genommen und gefragt, inwiefern dieses auch für (Ethik)Banken von Bedeutung ist.Für die Ausarbeitung dieser Bachelorarbeit wurde auf bestehende wissenschaftliche Fachliteratur zurückgegriffen. Zur Ausarbeitung der Theorie wurden hauptsächlich Bücher und Zeitschriften verwendet. Für die Ausarbeitungen der Unterschiede und Gemeinsamkeiten wurde auf Informationen aus den jeweiligen Geschäftsberichten, Nachhaltigkeitsberichten, Verhaltenskodizes sowie auf Unternehmensvisionen und -missionen zurückgegriffen.Schlagwörter: Ethikbanken, Sozialbanken, Nachhaltigkeit, Verantwortung, Werte, Umwelt, nachhaltige Banken This thesis deals with the characteristics of so-called ethical banks. It analyses their business model and asks what added value they provide or intend to provide for society. Furthermore, this thesis asks in what way ethical banks differ from traditional banks and what they have in common. Therefore, it will be examined to what extent criteria from the areas of environment, social matters and responsible corporate governance (ESG criteria) are taken into account in both types of banks. In addition, the term "responsibility" will be dealt with in more detail in the context of this bachelor thesis. Reference will be made to the work "The Imperative of Responsibility" by Hans Jonas and asked to what extent this is also relevant for (ethical) banks.For the elaboration of this bachelor’s thesis, reference was made to existing scientific literature. Books and journals were mainly used to elaborate the theory. For the elaboration of the differences and similarities, information from the respective annual reports, sustainability reports, codes of conduct as well as corporate visions and missions were used.

    Authors: Krenn, Stefan Eduard;

    Angesichts des fortsetzenden Trends zur Installation von PV-Anlagen auf Privathäusern, der sinkenden Preise für die benötigte Hardware und dem anhaltenden Anstieg des Anteils erneuerbarer Energien im Stromnetz, ist nach den Höchstständen der Strompreise und der Einspeisevergütung zwischen Ende 2021 und 2023 nun eine preisliche Entspannung eingetreten. Für Betreiber:innen von PV-Anlagen bedeuten der niedrigeren Marktpreis für Strom sowie die geringere Einspeisevergütung pro Kilowattstunde, dass der Anteil des Eigenverbrauchs der PV-Anlage erhöht werden sollte: Ein wesentlicher Schritt, um die Wirtschaftlichkeit der Anlage weiterhin zu gewährleisten. Außerdem kann durch den verstärkten Eigenverbrauch die finanzielle Abhängigkeit von schwankenden Marktpreisen und Vergütungssätzen reduziert werden. Um den Eigenverbrauch von Strom aus Photovoltaikanlagen zu steigern, werden vor allem Akkusysteme eingesetzt, die meistens an Hybrid-Wechselrichter angeschlossen sind. Diese Systeme können den Eigenverbrauchsanteil deutlich erhöhen, weisen jedoch nach wie vor ein mäßiges Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis auf, wenn die zu erwartende Lebensdauer von Wechselrichtern und Akkus sowie der typische Stromverbrauch von Haushalten berücksichtigt werden. Eine weitere Strategie zur Nutzung von Überschussstrom ist die Umwandlung in Wärmeenergie, die in Form von Brauchwarmwasser in jedem Haushalt benötigt wird. Dafür gibt es PV-geführte (bzw. Überschuss-) Heizstäbe, auch PV-Heizstäbe genannt. Diese Nutzungsmethode stellt eine interessante Alternative zu traditionellen Heizsystemen, die oft noch auf fossile Brennstoffe angewiesen sind, bei der Warmwasserbereitung vor allem während der Sommermonate dar. Trotz aller Bemühungen zum Kesseltausch der österreichischen Regierung gibt es insgesamt in Österreich laut Bundesministerium (BMK) noch rund 500.000 Ölheizungen und 840.000 Gasheizungen. Außerdem tendieren laut einer EWO-Umfrage über 50 % der Besitzer:innen von Ölheizungen zum Weiterbetrieb ihrer Anlage, während 15 % ihre Anlage erneuern würden. Das sind Zahlen, die die Relevanz dieser Arbeit verdeutlichen: In vielen Haushalten wird das Brauchwarmwasser weiterhin und langfristig mit fossilen Brennstoffen erwärmt – mit entsprechenden Systemen könnten allerdings Kosten und CO2-Emissionen direkt gedrückt wer-den. In dieser Arbeit werden theoretische Berechnungen durchgeführt, die verschiedene Heizungstypen wie Öl-, Gas-, Pellet- und Wärmepumpenheizungen berücksichtigen. In einem ersten Schritt werden aus aktuellen Marktpreisen thermische kWh-Preise für alle Vergleich-Systeme erstellt. Diese können dann auf ein Szenario angewendet werden, das die tägliche Warmwasserbereitung in Haushalten simulieren soll. Im weiteren Schritt werden die CO2-Emissionen auf die Szenario-Berechnungen angewandt und berechnet. Dadurch lässt sich aufzeigen, wie die Sektorenkopplung in Haushalten nicht nur die finanzielle Bilanz verbessert, sondern auch den Bedarf an fossilen Brennstoffen reduzieren kann. Anschließend werden die Kosten und die CO2-Emissionen in einer gemeinsamen Aussage kombiniert, um einen umfassenderen Vergleich der Systeme darstellen zu können. Dabei wird der Zeitraum außerhalb der Heizperiode betrachtet, um eine vollständige Deaktivierung der Primärheizungsanlage zu erreichen. Dieser Ansatz zielt darauf ab, das Potenzial für Energieeinsparungen und die Verringerung der CO2-Emissionen durch die ausschließliche Nutzung von Photovoltaikstrom zur Warmwassergenerierung zu maximieren – auch, weil in den Sommermonaten ein Überschuss an PV-Strom vorhanden ist. Zur Abrundung der Ergebnisse wird ein praktisches Beispiel einer PV-Anlage sowohl mit als auch ohne PV-Heizstab untersucht, um die entsprechenden finanziellen Ersparnisse und Reduktionen der CO2-Emissionen in einer Stichprobe zu bestätigen. Das Resultat zeigt, dass durch die aktuellen Energiepreise und die geringen Kosten für PV-Anlagen, eine Kombination von PV-Anlagen und der Warmwasserbereitung per PV-Heizstab – vor allem bei fossilen Heizkesseln – ratsam ist. Damit können sowohl Kosten als auch CO2 eingespart werden. Für andere Heizungstypen kann keine direkte Empfehlung ausgesprochen werden, wenn der Blick rein auf Kosten und CO2 liegt. Das praktische Beispiel konnte genauso eine positive Bilanz ziehen. Trends in der Energiepolitik, günstige Stromtarife (wie tagsüber Floater), Weiterentwicklungen in den einzelnen Technologien und eine stärkere Einbeziehung von Umweltauswirkungen können die Relevanz des zugrundeliegenden Themas weiter bestärken. Given the ongoing trend towards installing photovoltaic (PV) systems on private houses, decreasing hardware costs, and the rising share of renewable energies in the power grid, a price relaxation has occurred following the peak electricity prices and feed-in tariffs between late 2021 and 2023. For PV system operators, this means that due to lower market prices for electricity and reduced feed-in tariffs per kilowatt-hour, increasing the self-consumption rate of their own PV system is essential. This step is crucial to maintain the economic viability of the system. By increasing self-consumption, the financial dependency on fluctuating market prices and feed-in tariffs can be reduced. To enhance the self-consumption of electricity from photovoltaic systems, battery systems are used, which are usually connected to hybrid inverters. These systems can significantly increase the self-consumption rate but still have a moderate price-performance ratio, especially when considering the expected lifespan of inverters and batteries as well as the typical household electricity consumption. An additional strategy for utilizing excess electricity is converting it into thermal energy, which is needed daily in the form of hot water in every household. For this purpose, PV-driven (or surplus) heating elements, also known as PV heating rods, are used. This method presents an interesting alternative to traditional heating systems for hot water production, particularly during the summer months, which often still rely on fossil fuels. Despite the Austrian government's efforts, there are still around 500,000 oil heaters and 840,000 gas heaters in Austria according to the Federal Ministry (BMK). Furthermore, according to an EWO survey, over 50 % of oil heater owners intend to continue operating their systems, while 15 % plan to upgrade their existing systems. These figures highlight the relevance of this study, as many households will continue to use fossil fuels for hot water production, and corresponding systems can directly reduce costs and CO2 emissions. This study conducts theoretical calculations considering various heating types such as oil, gas, pellet, and heat pump systems. Initially, thermal kWh prices for all comparison systems are calculated based on current market prices. These prices are then applied to a scenario simulating daily hot water production in households. Subsequently, CO2 emissions are calculated and applied to the scenario calculations. This approach demonstrates how sector coupling in households can not only improve the financial balance but also reduce the reliance on fossil fuels. The study combines costs and CO2 emissions to provide a comprehensive comparison of the systems. The focus is on the period outside the heating season to enable complete deactivation of the primary heating system. This approach aims to maximize the potential for energy savings and CO2 emission reductions through the exclusive use of PV electricity for hot water generation, especially given the surplus of PV electricity during the summer months. To complement the results, a practical example of a PV system with and without a PV heating rod is examined to confirm the corresponding financial savings and CO2 emission reductions in a case study. The results show that, due to current energy prices and the low costs of PV systems, combining PV systems with hot water production via PV heating rods is particularly advisable for fossil fuel boilers, as this can save both costs and CO2 emissions. For other heating types, no direct recommendation can be made when focusing solely on costs and CO2 emissions. The practical example also achieved a positive balance. Trends in energy policy, cheaper electricity tariffs (such as floaters, during the day), further developments in individual technologies and a stronger consideration of environmental impacts can further strengthen the relevance of this basic topic.

    Authors: Kühl, Vanessa;

    Diverse Statistiken verdeutlichen, dass Frauen in Führungspositionen noch immer stark unterrepräsentiert sind. Obwohl der Frauenanteil unter den Hochschulabschlussabsolventen und Hochschulabschlussabsolventinnen größer ist als der von Männern, sind Frauen in Führungspositionen weitgehend schwächer vertreten. Die Energiebranche ist eine männlich geprägte Branche. Speziell in dieser Branche ist der Frauenanteil verhältnismäßig noch immer sehr gering. In diesem Sinne ist das Ziel dieser Bachelorarbeit, auf Basis einer Literaturanalyse und empirische Forschung, die Ursachen für die Unterrepräsentanz, Barrieren und begünstigende Faktoren für einen Karriereaufstieg von Frauen in das mittlere Management zu identifizieren um darauf aufbauend, eine Handlungsempfehlung zur Förderung von Frauen, für Personalentwicklung und Personalabteilung der Unternehmen in der Energiebranche Österreichs, abzuleiten. Anhand der empirischen Forschung werden praktische Implikationen der theoretischen Erkenntnisse geprüft, gegenübergestellt und ergänzt. Die Ergebnisse der vorliegenden Arbeit zeigen zahlreiche Barrieren für Frauen am Arbeitsmarkt auf, welche den Anteil an Frauen in Führungspositionen im mittleren Management beeinflussen und erläutert, dass die bereits gesetzten Maßnahmen zu einer Erhöhung des Frauenanteils und einem Umdenken in den Unternehmen geführt, aber der erwünschte Effekt noch nicht erzielt wurde. Es müssen Maßnahmen in der Vereinbarkeit von Beruf und Familie durch flexible Arbeitszeitenmodelle und verbesserter Kinderbetreuungsangebote getroffen werden. Zusätzlich sollte der Rekrutierungsprozess transparenter, Einstiegsmöglichkeiten von Netzwerken erleichtert und betriebseigene sowie Gender Mainstreaming Ziele gesetzt werden. Various statistics show that women are still severely underrepresented in leadership positions. Although the proportion of women among university graduates is higher than that of men, women are largely underrepresented in management positions. The energy industry is a male-dominated industry, and in this industry in particular, the proportion of women is still relatively very low. In this sense, the aim of this bachelor thesis is, based on a literature analysis and empirical research, to identify the causes for the underrepresentation, barriers, and beneficial factors for a career advancement of women in middle management and, based on this, to derive a recommendation for action, for the advancement of women, for human resources development and human resources departments of companies in the energy industry in Austria. Based on empirical research, practical implications of the theoretical findings are examined, contrasted, and supplemented. The results of this study show numerous barriers for women in the labor market, which influence the proportion of women in management positions in middle management and explain that the measures already taken have led to an increase in the proportion of women and a change in thinking in the companies but have not yet achieved the desired effect. Measures must be taken to reconcile work and family life through flexible working time models and improved childcare options. In addition, the recruitment process should be made more transparent, entry opportunities for networks should be made easier and company-specific objectives and gender mainstreaming objectives should be set.

    Authors: Habisch, Thomas;

    Hintergrund: Wärmedämmstoffe sind ein entscheidender Faktor für klimabelastende Einflüsse eines Gebäudes auf die Umwelt. Ausgelöst durch die Energiekrise Anfang der 1970er Jahre und ursprünglich durch den wirtschaftlichen Anreiz vorangetrieben, entwickelten sich Wärmedämmstoffe in den letzten Jahrzehnten zu einem festen Bestandteil im Gebäudebau. Heute werden mit modernsten Rechenmethoden zahlreiche Kennwerte ermittelt, um den geeigneten Dämmstoff in der passenden Ausführung für den jeweiligen Anwendungsbereich zu ermitteln. Ständig werden neue Produkte mit verbesserten Eigenschaften auf den Markt gebracht und den Konsumenten wird ein schwer überschaubares Produktportfolio geboten. Ziel: Ziel der Arbeit ist der Vergleich von Dämmstoffen auf anorganischer Basis mit nach-wachsenden Naturstoffen. Unter Betrachtung des gesamten Lebenszyklus sollen die Umweltauswirkungen der verschiedenen Materialien festgestellt werden. Darüber hinaus sollen auch weitere Aspekte, wie beispielsweise rechtliche Grundlagen und die geeigneten Einsatz-gebiete, betrachtet werden. Methodik: Eine systematische Literaturrecherche fand in Fachbibliotheken sowie online in für das Bauwesen relevanten Datenbanken und Zeitschriften statt. Ergebnisse: Da es keinen Dämmstoff gibt, der sich für alle Anwendungsgebiete eines Gebäudes eignet, ist eine pauschale Antwort nicht möglich. Bezüglich der Anwendbarkeit kann jedoch gesagt werden, dass synthetische Produkte häufig sehr robust und wiederstandfähig sind und daher eher für Bereiche mit größeren Belastungen (z.B. Perimeterdämmung) geeignet sind. Naturprodukte hingegen sind meist diffusionsoffen und haben sehr gute Fähigkeiten hinsichtlich der Feuchtigkeitsregulierung. Betrachtet man die Umweltauswirkungen, haben synthetische Produkte logischerweise den Nachteil, dass sie aus fossilen Rohstoffen gewonnen werden. Darüber hinaus ist ihre Herstellung meist auch energieaufwändiger als jene der Naturstoffe. Entlastend für die synthetischen Produkte ist jedoch zu nennen, dass beispielsweise bei der Herstellung von Glaswolle ein nennenswerter Anteil mit Altglas abgedeckt wird und viele der verwendeten fossilen Rohstoffe noch in ausreichender Menge vorhanden sind. Naturprodukte werden aus nachwachsen-den Rohstoffen gewonnen und benötigen in der Regel auch weit weniger Energie bei ihrem Herstellungsprozess. Schlussfolgerung: Um die Klimaziele erreichen zu können, bedarf es in Zukunft klare Konzepte und konsequent umgesetzte Maßnahmen zur Steigerung der Energieeffizienz von Ge-bäuden, zur Steigerung des Anteils von Erneuerbaren Energieträgern als Raumheizung, zur Steigerung der Energieeffizienz der privaten Stromnachfrage sowie zur Senkung von Treibhausgasemissionen. Eine wichtige Rolle bei der Erreichung der Klimaziele kommt den Wärmedämmstoffen zu. Durch ihren Einsatz senken sie den Heizwärmebedarf von Gebäuden. Dadurch sinken der Energieverbrauch sowie die an die Umwelt abgegeben Emissionen von Gebäuden. Keywords Dämmstoffe, Ökologische Naturstoffe, anorganische - organische Produkte, Nachhaltigkeit, ökologisch Background: Heat insulators are an essential factor for noxious impacts of a building to the environment. Due to the oil crisis in the early seventies heat insulators were used on buildings to reduce heating costs. Heat insulators became a fixed part in building industry. Nowadays state of the art methods are used to determine the best heat insulator for each application. New products with better insulating characteristics are constantly presented to the market which offers the customer a wide selection of heat insulators. Purpose: Purpose of this bachelor thesis is a comparison of heat insulators made from mineral resources compared to heat insulators made from renewable resources. The examina-tion of the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) illustrates the environmental impact of different materials. In addition, lawful background and appropriate areas of applications are considered as well. Methodology: A systematic research of literature has been done in compartment libraries as well as in online data bases and compartment journals. Results: There is no heat insulator that can be used in every area of application. A comparison of applicableness has shown that synthetic products are more resistant. There-fore, they are prevalent used in areas with high strains. Natural products are most of the time diffusion furnace and have good competences by controlling moisture. Synthetic products have worse impacts on the environment because they are made of fossil resources. Furthermore, synthetic products often have a higher energy consumption during their production. The usage of recycling materials can reduce the negative environmental impacts. Conclusions: In order to reach the climate targets, it is necessary raise the energy efficiency and share of renewable energy carriers for space heating of buildings. Contrariwise the ex-pulsion of greenhouse gases needs to be reduced. Heat insulator are playing an in important role to accomplish the climate targets. The usage of heat insulators causes a reduction of energy consumption with means that a reduced amount of emissions is released into the en-vironment.     Authors: Michitsch, Lisa Marie;

    Authors: Poßegger, David;

    Authors: Oppenauer, Klaus Siegfried;

    Angesichts des fortsetzenden Trends zur Installation von PV-Anlagen auf Privathäusern, der sinkenden Preise für die benötigte Hardware und dem anhaltenden Anstieg des Anteils erneuerbarer Energien im Stromnetz, ist nach den Höchstständen der Strompreise und der Einspeisevergütung zwischen Ende 2021 und 2023 nun eine preisliche Entspannung eingetreten. Für Betreiber:innen von PV-Anlagen bedeuten der niedrigeren Marktpreis für Strom sowie die geringere Einspeisevergütung pro Kilowattstunde, dass der Anteil des Eigenverbrauchs der PV-Anlage erhöht werden sollte: Ein wesentlicher Schritt, um die Wirtschaftlichkeit der Anlage weiterhin zu gewährleisten. Außerdem kann durch den verstärkten Eigenverbrauch die finanzielle Abhängigkeit von schwankenden Marktpreisen und Vergütungssätzen reduziert werden. Um den Eigenverbrauch von Strom aus Photovoltaikanlagen zu steigern, werden vor allem Akkusysteme eingesetzt, die meistens an Hybrid-Wechselrichter angeschlossen sind. Diese Systeme können den Eigenverbrauchsanteil deutlich erhöhen, weisen jedoch nach wie vor ein mäßiges Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis auf, wenn die zu erwartende Lebensdauer von Wechselrichtern und Akkus sowie der typische Stromverbrauch von Haushalten berücksichtigt werden. Eine weitere Strategie zur Nutzung von Überschussstrom ist die Umwandlung in Wärmeenergie, die in Form von Brauchwarmwasser in jedem Haushalt benötigt wird. Dafür gibt es PV-geführte (bzw. Überschuss-) Heizstäbe, auch PV-Heizstäbe genannt. Diese Nutzungsmethode stellt eine interessante Alternative zu traditionellen Heizsystemen, die oft noch auf fossile Brennstoffe angewiesen sind, bei der Warmwasserbereitung vor allem während der Sommermonate dar. Trotz aller Bemühungen zum Kesseltausch der österreichischen Regierung gibt es insgesamt in Österreich laut Bundesministerium (BMK) noch rund 500.000 Ölheizungen und 840.000 Gasheizungen. Außerdem tendieren laut einer EWO-Umfrage über 50 % der Besitzer:innen von Ölheizungen zum Weiterbetrieb ihrer Anlage, während 15 % ihre Anlage erneuern würden. Das sind Zahlen, die die Relevanz dieser Arbeit verdeutlichen: In vielen Haushalten wird das Brauchwarmwasser weiterhin und langfristig mit fossilen Brennstoffen erwärmt – mit entsprechenden Systemen könnten allerdings Kosten und CO2-Emissionen direkt gedrückt wer-den. In dieser Arbeit werden theoretische Berechnungen durchgeführt, die verschiedene Heizungstypen wie Öl-, Gas-, Pellet- und Wärmepumpenheizungen berücksichtigen. In einem ersten Schritt werden aus aktuellen Marktpreisen thermische kWh-Preise für alle Vergleich-Systeme erstellt. Diese können dann auf ein Szenario angewendet werden, das die tägliche Warmwasserbereitung in Haushalten simulieren soll. Im weiteren Schritt werden die CO2-Emissionen auf die Szenario-Berechnungen angewandt und berechnet. Dadurch lässt sich aufzeigen, wie die Sektorenkopplung in Haushalten nicht nur die finanzielle Bilanz verbessert, sondern auch den Bedarf an fossilen Brennstoffen reduzieren kann. Anschließend werden die Kosten und die CO2-Emissionen in einer gemeinsamen Aussage kombiniert, um einen umfassenderen Vergleich der Systeme darstellen zu können. Dabei wird der Zeitraum außerhalb der Heizperiode betrachtet, um eine vollständige Deaktivierung der Primärheizungsanlage zu erreichen. Dieser Ansatz zielt darauf ab, das Potenzial für Energieeinsparungen und die Verringerung der CO2-Emissionen durch die ausschließliche Nutzung von Photovoltaikstrom zur Warmwassergenerierung zu maximieren – auch, weil in den Sommermonaten ein Überschuss an PV-Strom vorhanden ist. Zur Abrundung der Ergebnisse wird ein praktisches Beispiel einer PV-Anlage sowohl mit als auch ohne PV-Heizstab untersucht, um die entsprechenden finanziellen Ersparnisse und Reduktionen der CO2-Emissionen in einer Stichprobe zu bestätigen. Das Resultat zeigt, dass durch die aktuellen Energiepreise und die geringen Kosten für PV-Anlagen, eine Kombination von PV-Anlagen und der Warmwasserbereitung per PV-Heizstab – vor allem bei fossilen Heizkesseln – ratsam ist. Damit können sowohl Kosten als auch CO2 eingespart werden. Für andere Heizungstypen kann keine direkte Empfehlung ausgesprochen werden, wenn der Blick rein auf Kosten und CO2 liegt. Das praktische Beispiel konnte genauso eine positive Bilanz ziehen. Trends in der Energiepolitik, günstige Stromtarife (wie tagsüber Floater), Weiterentwicklungen in den einzelnen Technologien und eine stärkere Einbeziehung von Umweltauswirkungen können die Relevanz des zugrundeliegenden Themas weiter bestärken. Given the ongoing trend towards installing photovoltaic (PV) systems on private houses, decreasing hardware costs, and the rising share of renewable energies in the power grid, a price relaxation has occurred following the peak electricity prices and feed-in tariffs between late 2021 and 2023. For PV system operators, this means that due to lower market prices for electricity and reduced feed-in tariffs per kilowatt-hour, increasing the self-consumption rate of their own PV system is essential. This step is crucial to maintain the economic viability of the system. By increasing self-consumption, the financial dependency on fluctuating market prices and feed-in tariffs can be reduced. To enhance the self-consumption of electricity from photovoltaic systems, battery systems are used, which are usually connected to hybrid inverters. These systems can significantly increase the self-consumption rate but still have a moderate price-performance ratio, especially when considering the expected lifespan of inverters and batteries as well as the typical household electricity consumption. An additional strategy for utilizing excess electricity is converting it into thermal energy, which is needed daily in the form of hot water in every household. For this purpose, PV-driven (or surplus) heating elements, also known as PV heating rods, are used. This method presents an interesting alternative to traditional heating systems for hot water production, particularly during the summer months, which often still rely on fossil fuels. Despite the Austrian government's efforts, there are still around 500,000 oil heaters and 840,000 gas heaters in Austria according to the Federal Ministry (BMK). Furthermore, according to an EWO survey, over 50 % of oil heater owners intend to continue operating their systems, while 15 % plan to upgrade their existing systems. These figures highlight the relevance of this study, as many households will continue to use fossil fuels for hot water production, and corresponding systems can directly reduce costs and CO2 emissions. This study conducts theoretical calculations considering various heating types such as oil, gas, pellet, and heat pump systems. Initially, thermal kWh prices for all comparison systems are calculated based on current market prices. These prices are then applied to a scenario simulating daily hot water production in households. Subsequently, CO2 emissions are calculated and applied to the scenario calculations. This approach demonstrates how sector coupling in households can not only improve the financial balance but also reduce the reliance on fossil fuels. The study combines costs and CO2 emissions to provide a comprehensive comparison of the systems. The focus is on the period outside the heating season to enable complete deactivation of the primary heating system. This approach aims to maximize the potential for energy savings and CO2 emission reductions through the exclusive use of PV electricity for hot water generation, especially given the surplus of PV electricity during the summer months. To complement the results, a practical example of a PV system with and without a PV heating rod is examined to confirm the corresponding financial savings and CO2 emission reductions in a case study. The results show that, due to current energy prices and the low costs of PV systems, combining PV systems with hot water production via PV heating rods is particularly advisable for fossil fuel boilers, as this can save both costs and CO2 emissions. For other heating types, no direct recommendation can be made when focusing solely on costs and CO2 emissions. The practical example also achieved a positive balance. Trends in energy policy, cheaper electricity tariffs (such as floaters, during the day), further developments in individual technologies and a stronger consideration of environmental impacts can further strengthen the relevance of this basic topic.

    Authors: Kühl, Vanessa;
