Kiseleva, Sophia in OpenAIREThis work is devoted to the wave energy in the Caspian Sea analysis for the period from 1979 to 2020. Wave energy calculations were performed using the WAVEWATCH III wave model on an irregular grid with a step of up to 900 m in the coastal zone. Results are obtained on the spatial variability of the wave energy flux and its seasonal variability. The maximum values of the energy flux are about 5 kW/m of the wave front and appear in the central part of the Caspian Sea. Availability of wave energy of 1 kW/m in the central part of the Caspian Sea is 50-55%, in the northern part – no more than 20%, and in the southern part – 30-45%. The seasonal variability of the energy flux analysis for three points located in different parts of the sea has been carried out. Seasonal changes in the energy flow are most pronounced in the central part of the sea: in the summer months, the energy flow is 2-5 kW/m, and in winter it increases to 7-10 kW/m. The maximum average monthly flow of wave energy was 18.5 kW/m of the wave front.

Lukashov, a chair professor of Department of Geomorphology and Paleogeography in Geographical Faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University, professor emeritus of Lomonosov MSU, Dr. habil. of geographical sciences. The point is potentially interesting regions of Russia referring to exploitation of geothermal resources. Besides the well known Caucasus and Kamchatka, A.A. Lukashov focuses on the several zones with higher geothermal heat flow, including North-East of Siberia, Baykal Rift, South of Western Siberia, Polar Urals, and Leningrad region, noting also, that combined use of the geothermal and other local energy sources on these areas is possible in a number of situations. He also touches the issue of interconnection between geothermal flows and hydrocarbon fields.

States in the Mediterranean region that have already experienced the effects of these changes need to take the climate factor into account when managing water resources. Using the example of the Republic of Cyprus, specific adaptation measures were studied and evaluated on the basis of their effectiveness, sustainability in the face of climate change uncertainty and their sustainability in the environmental, socio-economic sectors, as well as potential barriers and risks associated with the implementation of adaptation. The presented review showed that many of the measures taken, which are considered to address the impact of climate change on water resources, increase the adaptive capacity of the water sector, but its overall vulnerability remains high, as water demand is still not met in certain areas and / or for certain uses during a drought.

Fedorova, Ekaterina in OpenAIREBased on the calculations of the Earth's insolation, changes in the annual meridional insolation gradient were determined in the period from 3000 BC to 2999. Changes in the meridional insolation gradient are associated with changes in the angle of inclination of the Earth's rotation axis. Based on the regression model, it is shown that the trends of changes in the near-surface air temperature and ocean surface temperature (the temperature regime of the global climate) by 69.3-84.1% are determined by the insolation contrast. The insolation contrast generically (by radiative heat source and sink regions) reflects long-term changes in the meridional gradient of insolation, which regulates the intensity of meridional radiative heat transfer in the ocean–atmosphere system.
