The environment (leisure place) is among the new activities in the rural area and to come as an alternative activity to solve the socio-economic problems. The factor that more it contributed to reduce total population went to the migration of great part of the rural population for other states and not for the urban area, as it happened with adjacent cities. First of all is questioned: How the new activities in the rural way? What does come to engaging importance in the area? How is this appear by the population? The methodology is been significance of bibliographical sources and empiric data. The elaboration of this study intends a project of division into lots of small farms for leisure place in Sertanópolis-Pr. Many chemical compounds are found in the earth atmosphere acting as “greenhouse gases”. They are important since they prevent the total reflection of sun rays. However, the level of some of those gases, mainly the carbonic acid (CO2), has been increasing at the rate of 25 percent since the large-scale industrialization process which began 150 years ago. Within the last 20 years, CO2 has been corresponding to 84 percent of the gases coming from human activities, and 82 percent is the result of the burning of fossil fuels. Taking into account that the population increase and the arise of new technologies continue to demand energy at an ever-increasing rate, it is peremptory the search for alternative and more sustainable energetic solutions. Within this context, the biodiesel production, which is a fuel coming from the biomass and having the objective of replacing the Diesel oil, is one of the alternatives. This article aims at considering the sustainability of the biodiesel production system through the soybean culture. It aims at developing an illustrative reflection to investigate, from the soybean culture, whether the biodiesel production is sustainable (stricto senso). Considering that the culture cultivation uses as production factors the exhaustible natural resources, this work approaches the problem systematically, taking into account the social, environmental and economic dimensions. The method of research chosen is the exploratory one and it is used secondary data to infer statistically, at the light of theoretical referential, the sustainable development, and, considering the biodiesel laws in Brazil, how that supposed production way of “sustainable energy” will occur. The results show that there wasn’t “full sustainability” in any of the dimensions. However, it’s concluded that this energetic alternative must be pursued, but it implies the need of betterment and balancing of the actions in each one of the bottlenecks and dimensions.

A principal conclusão reforça a viabilidade econômica, e sócio ambiental dessa produção. Ao permitir a produção com base na agricultura familiar, contribui para a diminuição do êxodo rural, os benefícios se mostram em toda a cadeia produtiva irradiando outros setores produtivos gerando desenvolvimento local sustentável.----------------------------This study aims to analyze some economic and socio-environment implications of biodiesel, emphasizing the perspectives for the insertion of the state of Rio Grande do Sul in the production. The methodology used comprehends two phases: first, a bibliographic review on world biodiesel production and market, and the peculiarity of the Brazilian case. In a second moment, it was sought to explain the perspective for this state in the production of biodiesel, based on the application of questionnaires to some key people linked to producing plants and city halls in the cities involved in the production. The main conclusion supports the economic and socio-environment feasibility of this production. By allowing production, based on family agriculture, it contributes in the decreasing of the number of people leaving rural areas, and the benefits are sensed in the whole productive chain through the support of other productive sectors and the generation of sustained local development.

----------------------------------------------The great necessity for reducing the dependency upon oil due to its price, which is constantly increasing, the concern about the environment (Kyoto Protocol) and the increasing demand for flex cars have highlighted the role of ethanol - a totally renewable source of energy. The supply and demand for this biofuel are increasing in the past years and with a great chance to keep strong and dynamic for many years. In this context, the objective of the study was to analyse which variables affected the supply and demand for ethanol in Brazil, considering the period from 1995 to 2006. The method of analysis used was a simultaneous equilibrium model by means of two stages, least squares with correction of the variance by the generalized method of moments (GMM). To illustrate the use of the model in policy simulation it is studied the effect of a relative increase in oil price in the market of ethanol, ceteris paribus. The results of the model were significant, but what is interesting is that the alcohol did not appear to be a perfect substitutive for gasoline in the mentioned period, since his fundamental role was of an additive of gasoline.

The ceramist art of the city counts on famous artists, what it makes of city one of the biggest centers of excellency in the art of the modeling of clay in the country. At the moment, the State of Pernambuco shelters part of the two very important ecosystem for the biodiversity of the planet, the Atlantic tropical forest and the Caatinga, which presents a serious state of environmental degradation, where the impacts vary since small areas of deforestations, until areas in process of desertification. This work intends to analyze the demand for forest biomass for the craftsmen of the city of Tracunhaém, in Pernambuco state. The activities developed for the craftsmen of the city of Tracunhaém present a great potential impact, therefore besides using the clay for the confection of its products, they also use the wood as first source of energy, what it makes them to deserve a special attention in the field of the research, therefore through a systematic accompaniment, new technological alternatives can be developed, mainly in the field of the supported forest production, that duly based in one efficient politics, can also open space for the implantation of forest projects in these regions, that not only aim at the supplying of the ovens of the craftsmen of the locality in study, but, of other enterprises, that due the its peculiarities, also offer demand for forest products. The data in allow them assure that in the year of 1998, the craftsmen had consumed 1,235 m³ of firewood. Beside, in the period of accomplishment of the research, there were 32 ovens using the firewood in activity, for only one electric oven. With relation to the amount of firewood used for month, it was verified that each oven consumes in average 5,67 st/month, making with that the sector presents a monthly total demand of 181,5 st/month. This research evidenced that the city of Tracunhaém has for tradition the use of vegetal coal by the ovens of ceramics, this activity provoked a drastic reduction in the local vegetation and it tends to aggravate, if urgent measure will not taken in account.

The coastal aquaculture led by the shrimp farming is rapidly expanding in the developing countries, and not less expressive are the initiatives to develop the rural aquaculture. Besides that the consolidation of the new paradigm of sustainable development, the aquaculture needs to be investigated regarding its sustainability. In this sense, having the systemic method as theoretical foundation, indicators are proposed to evaluate the sustainability of a project being carried out in the Castanhão reservoir, in Jaguaribara-CE, called Curupati-Peixe Project, that cultivates Nile Tilápia in net-ponds. The sustainability dimensions evaluated are economic-social, technological and environmental, that are considered here as subsystems. Theses indicators showed that the pisciculture project of Curupati-Peixe had a median level of sustainability, being the social dimension the one that contributed more to the observed performance.
