The first sheet contains metadata defining all variable names.Spring12__CCN_dormagg_with_psych_variables.xlsx “Campus Conservation Nationals” (CCN) is a recurring, nation-wide electricity and water-use reduction competition among dormitories on college campuses. We conducted a two year empirical study of the competition’s effects on resource consumption and the relationship between conservation, use of web technology and various psychological measures. Significant reductions in electricity and water use occurred during the two CCN competitions examined (n = 105,000 and 197,000 participating dorm residents respectively). In 2010, overall reductions during the competition were 4% for electricity and 6% for water. The top 10% of dorms achieved 28% and 36% reductions in electricity and water respectively. Participation was larger in 2012 and reductions were slightly smaller (i.e. 3% electricity). The fact that no seasonal pattern in electricity use was evident during non-competition periods suggests that results are attributable to the competition. Post competition resource use data collected in 2012 indicates that conservation behavior was sustained beyond the competition. Surveys were used to assess psychological and behavioral responses (n = 2,900 and 2,600 in 2010 and 2012 respectively). Electricity reductions were significantly correlated with: web visitation, specific conservation behaviors, awareness of the competition, motivation and sense of empowerment. However, participants were significantly more motivated than empowered. Perceived benefits of conservation were skewed towards global and future concerns while perceived barriers tended to be local. Results also suggest that competitions may be useful for “preaching beyond the choir” – engaging those who might lack prior intrinsic or political motivation. Although college life is distinct, certain conclusions related to competitions, self-efficacy, and motivation and social norms likely extend to other residential settings.

However, in chemistry education, this environmental information has applicability in teacher training. Thus, the purpose in this research is to present the concept of life-cycle assessment as a socio-scientific issue, and to investigate its implications for teacher development, according to Henry Giroux's theory. The research was carried out with 10 Chemistry undergraduate students, and the analysis has a qualitative character, substantiated by reports on academic internship experiences as a tool for data collection. These were analyzed by Laurence Bardin's precepts. As a result, the undergraduate students reframed their experience of chemistry undergraduate studies, towards global, inseparable, interdisciplinary and essential content for critical citizenship education.

Due to its clinical relevance, to explore the solid-state properties for excipient compatibility in the product quality review process is essential. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffraction and thermal analysis (thermogravimetry/derivative thermogravimetry (TG/DTG), differential thermal analysis (DTA), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC)) were applied. The compatibility studies evidenced that starch pregelatinized, colloidal silicon dioxide, and talc are fully compatible with azathioprine. However, stearic acid, magnesium stearate, and mannitol are incompatible after heat supply at temperatures easily reached by industrial processing. The nonlinear Vyazovkin isoconversional treatment performed the kinetic study of the thermal degradation. The activation energies were determined to clarify the influence of each excipient on the thermal drug stability, an essential procedure in the pharmaceutical development, and all over the commercial live span, in Good Manufacturing Practices.

Therefore, obtaining a correct temperature storage of vaccines has been a challenge due to the lack of electricity to maintain the recommended storage temperatures. Currently, most of the vaccines have to be stored at temperatures between +2 °C and +8 °C at the service delivery points. For many years, photovoltaic power has been used for vaccine refrigerators with a lead-acid battery to store electric energy and to provide the start-up current that drives the compressor. The problem with this technology is that the lifetime of the battery is short due to deep discharging of the battery during periods with low sunshine/irradiance. The development of solar “direct drive” refrigerators started in 1999 at Danish Technological Institute (DTI). It was demonstrated that the energy capacity of ice produced by a compressor is at least of the same magnitude as the lead-acid battery. As of to date (February 2016), 24 direct-drive vaccine coolers from eight different manufacturers are listed on the WHO PQS website, with the technology being one of the fastest growing technologies in the vaccine cold chain. This paper endeavours to expound on the current status and discusses how the technology could be used for other purposes in the future.

This study assessed the hand hygiene performance in French nursing homes using the consumption of alcohol-based hand rubs (AHRs) as a surrogate. Nursing homes from the 17 French regions were contacted to collect their AHR consumption and occupancy in 2018 and 2019. A total of 1290 nursing homes from 15 French regions participated in the survey. The estimated median number of hand hygiene actions per resident-day was 1.48 (interquartile range: 1.04-2.03) in 2018 and 1.60 (1.10-2.26) in 2019. A significantly higher AHR consumption was observed in public nursing homes with an infection control team or link nurse.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of increasing sulfate concentrations on chromium removal, to evaluate the effect of the presence of Cr(VI) on sulfate removal by Streptomyces sp. MC1 and to analyze the differential protein expression profile in the presence of this metal for the identification of proteins repressed or overexpressed. In the presence of Cr(VI) but in the absence of sulfate ions, bacterial growth was negligible, showing the Cr(VI) toxicity for this bacterium. However, the sulfate presence stimulated bacterium growth and Cr(VI) removal, regardless of its concentrations. Streptomyces sp. MC1 showed ability to remove chromium and sulfate simultaneously. Also, the sulfate presence favored the decrease of total chromium concentration from supernatants reaching a decrease of 50% at 48 h. In presence of chromium, seven proteins were down‐expressed and showed homology to proteins involved in protein biosynthesis, energy production and free radicals detoxification while two proteins involved in oxidation‐reduction processes identified as dihydrolipoamide dehydrogenase and S‐adenosyl‐l‐methionine synthase were overexpressed.

Herein, crystalline electrode films of LiCoO2 (LCO) are formed on a high Li+ conductive crystalline‐glass solid electrolyte sheet, Li1.3Al0.3Ti2(PO4)3 (LATP) (σ25 °C = 1 × 10−4 S cm−1), at room temperature by aerosol deposition (AD), and the effects of the annealing temperature on the interfacial resistivities (Rint) at the LCO/LATP are investigated. The Rint visibly increases by annealing over 500 °C with the growth of Co3O4 as a reactant. In contrast, Rint is reduced to ≈100 Ω cm2 by low‐temperature annealing at 250–350 °C due to superior contact through the structural rearrangement of an artificial metastable interface formed by the AD. These results are applied to bulk‐type Ox‐SSB, Li/Li7La3Zr2O12(LLZ)/LCO–LATP, and our best Ox‐SSB delivers a discharge capacity of 100 mA cm−2 at 100 °C.

The first sheet contains metadata defining all variable names.Spring12__CCN_dormagg_with_psych_variables.xlsx “Campus Conservation Nationals” (CCN) is a recurring, nation-wide electricity and water-use reduction competition among dormitories on college campuses. We conducted a two year empirical study of the competition’s effects on resource consumption and the relationship between conservation, use of web technology and various psychological measures. Significant reductions in electricity and water use occurred during the two CCN competitions examined (n = 105,000 and 197,000 participating dorm residents respectively). In 2010, overall reductions during the competition were 4% for electricity and 6% for water. The top 10% of dorms achieved 28% and 36% reductions in electricity and water respectively. Participation was larger in 2012 and reductions were slightly smaller (i.e. 3% electricity). The fact that no seasonal pattern in electricity use was evident during non-competition periods suggests that results are attributable to the competition. Post competition resource use data collected in 2012 indicates that conservation behavior was sustained beyond the competition. Surveys were used to assess psychological and behavioral responses (n = 2,900 and 2,600 in 2010 and 2012 respectively). Electricity reductions were significantly correlated with: web visitation, specific conservation behaviors, awareness of the competition, motivation and sense of empowerment. However, participants were significantly more motivated than empowered. Perceived benefits of conservation were skewed towards global and future concerns while perceived barriers tended to be local. Results also suggest that competitions may be useful for “preaching beyond the choir” – engaging those who might lack prior intrinsic or political motivation. Although college life is distinct, certain conclusions related to competitions, self-efficacy, and motivation and social norms likely extend to other residential settings.

However, in chemistry education, this environmental information has applicability in teacher training. Thus, the purpose in this research is to present the concept of life-cycle assessment as a socio-scientific issue, and to investigate its implications for teacher development, according to Henry Giroux's theory. The research was carried out with 10 Chemistry undergraduate students, and the analysis has a qualitative character, substantiated by reports on academic internship experiences as a tool for data collection. These were analyzed by Laurence Bardin's precepts. As a result, the undergraduate students reframed their experience of chemistry undergraduate studies, towards global, inseparable, interdisciplinary and essential content for critical citizenship education.

Due to its clinical relevance, to explore the solid-state properties for excipient compatibility in the product quality review process is essential. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffraction and thermal analysis (thermogravimetry/derivative thermogravimetry (TG/DTG), differential thermal analysis (DTA), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC)) were applied. The compatibility studies evidenced that starch pregelatinized, colloidal silicon dioxide, and talc are fully compatible with azathioprine. However, stearic acid, magnesium stearate, and mannitol are incompatible after heat supply at temperatures easily reached by industrial processing. The nonlinear Vyazovkin isoconversional treatment performed the kinetic study of the thermal degradation. The activation energies were determined to clarify the influence of each excipient on the thermal drug stability, an essential procedure in the pharmaceutical development, and all over the commercial live span, in Good Manufacturing Practices.

Therefore, obtaining a correct temperature storage of vaccines has been a challenge due to the lack of electricity to maintain the recommended storage temperatures. Currently, most of the vaccines have to be stored at temperatures between +2 °C and +8 °C at the service delivery points. For many years, photovoltaic power has been used for vaccine refrigerators with a lead-acid battery to store electric energy and to provide the start-up current that drives the compressor. The problem with this technology is that the lifetime of the battery is short due to deep discharging of the battery during periods with low sunshine/irradiance. The development of solar “direct drive” refrigerators started in 1999 at Danish Technological Institute (DTI). It was demonstrated that the energy capacity of ice produced by a compressor is at least of the same magnitude as the lead-acid battery. As of to date (February 2016), 24 direct-drive vaccine coolers from eight different manufacturers are listed on the WHO PQS website, with the technology being one of the fastest growing technologies in the vaccine cold chain. This paper endeavours to expound on the current status and discusses how the technology could be used for other purposes in the future.

This study assessed the hand hygiene performance in French nursing homes using the consumption of alcohol-based hand rubs (AHRs) as a surrogate. Nursing homes from the 17 French regions were contacted to collect their AHR consumption and occupancy in 2018 and 2019. A total of 1290 nursing homes from 15 French regions participated in the survey. The estimated median number of hand hygiene actions per resident-day was 1.48 (interquartile range: 1.04-2.03) in 2018 and 1.60 (1.10-2.26) in 2019. A significantly higher AHR consumption was observed in public nursing homes with an infection control team or link nurse.

MC1 and to analyze the differential protein expression profile in the presence of this metal for the identification of proteins repressed or overexpressed. In the presence of Cr(VI) but in the absence of sulfate ions, bacterial growth was negligible, showing the Cr(VI) toxicity for this bacterium. However, the sulfate presence stimulated bacterium growth and Cr(VI) removal, regardless of its concentrations. Streptomyces sp. MC1 showed ability to remove chromium and sulfate simultaneously. Also, the sulfate presence favored the decrease of total chromium concentration from supernatants reaching a decrease of 50% at 48 h. In presence of chromium, seven proteins were down‐expressed and showed homology to proteins involved in protein biosynthesis, energy production and free radicals detoxification while two proteins involved in oxidation‐reduction processes identified as dihydrolipoamide dehydrogenase and S‐adenosyl‐l‐methionine synthase were overexpressed.

Herein, crystalline electrode films of LiCoO2 (LCO) are formed on a high Li+ conductive crystalline‐glass solid electrolyte sheet, Li1.3Al0.3Ti2(PO4)3 (LATP) (σ25 °C = 1 × 10−4 S cm−1), at room temperature by aerosol deposition (AD), and the effects of the annealing temperature on the interfacial resistivities (Rint) at the LCO/LATP are investigated. The Rint visibly increases by annealing over 500 °C with the growth of Co3O4 as a reactant. In contrast, Rint is reduced to ≈100 Ω cm2 by low‐temperature annealing at 250–350 °C due to superior contact through the structural rearrangement of an artificial metastable interface formed by the AD. These results are applied to bulk‐type Ox‐SSB, Li/Li7La3Zr2O12(LLZ)/LCO–LATP, and our best Ox‐SSB delivers a discharge capacity of 100 mA cm−2 at 100 °C.
