description Publicationkeyboard_double_arrow_right Article 2010Publisher:Universidade Federal de São Carlos Authors: Luci Ines Bassetto;O presente trabalho trata dos conceitos e práticas da Responsabilidade Social e Sustentabilidade Empresarial. This work deals with the concepts and practices of Social Responsibility and Corporate Sustainability. The main goal of this study is to show how COPEL has been adopting such practices as part of its Social Responsibility and Sustainability management. In this sense, we proposed the following specific objectives: a) identify and characterize COPEL's indicators and accounting reports to measure and present the results of its sustainable management and b) Identify and analyze the sustainable actions performed by the company. The 2005 Management Report was used as an analysis tool. The analysis indicated COPEL's great deal of effort to meet social responsibility requirements by incorporating the concept of the Instituto Ethos Institute to develop its management model and, as sustainable business, implementing actions through the following platforms: as a signatory of the Global Compact, as a company sustainable through BOVESPA ISE-2005, and the adoption of certain principles of the Millennium Development Goals and AA 1000 standard. The main indicator used in the analysis was in accordance with the GRIs. By meeting all principles of GRI to prepare the report, although being the first report, the analysis indicated that COPEL is very advanced in terms of implementation of indicators. For an environment that requires that the economic result are obtained by integrating social and environmental actions, the data collected failed to identify the integration of social and environmental actions with the economic results since the guidelines GRI (INSTITUTO ETHOS, 2002) have not yet advanced to that degree of detail.

The extractive economy at issue is related to a species usually known as leather fern (Rumohra adiantiformis (G.Forest.) Ching). It is estimated that 3,000 families in the region perform this non-regulated activity, whi-ch is their only source of income. The sustainability degree of farmers was calculated from information related to environmental, social and eco-nomic dimensions, and to productivity, stability, equity, resilience, and autonomy criteria. The analysis focused on the comparison among the In-dexes Related to Dimension (IRD), Criteria (IRC) and Sustainability (IRS) of each kind of production system. The results pointed to the existence of four kinds of production systems, and three of them were included in this research. The sustainability indexes showed that the production system type 3 was the most sustainable, followed by type 2 and, fi nally, type 1.

Partnerships in global health stand in an important position when discussing global health. During the 5th National Congress of Tropical Medicine, some central themes in this area were discussed: research, implementation and funding. This paper aims to reflect upon each theme, highlighting the most relevant aspects for the future and present of global health partnerships. It is based on the various presentations and the ensuing discussion, also relying on a literature review on the referred three central themes. Global health partnerships aim to reverse and overcome the North/South asymmetries at different levels: training, access, knowledge, funding, research, education and science development; contributing towards the construction of a knowledge-based society, aiming at sustainable development and universal health coverage. These partnerships are increasingly understood as critical to attaining all SDGs, but there is also the need to ensure that they do not harm any of the stakeholders. They must be balanced and symmetrical, reflecting the interests of all parties involved, fostering the inclusion of all partners in every stage. Therefore, partnerships in global health may be truly effective, leading to innovative ways of articulation, implementation and funding. publishersversion published

E.; Henriques, M. J. A.;Climate change is bound to impact the water cycle and water availability, compounding the sustainable management of its quantity and quality. Groundwater is bound to suffer the impacts of climate change, coupled with those of land use changes, population and its lifestyles evolution. Climate change studies normaly have a 50 to 100 years horizon, which is a challenge for decision makers, who usually rely on relatively short therm data and projections to implement their management policies. BINGO Project tries to address this gap, by providing information of climate change impacts, including those of extreme events, on the water cycle for the short-tomedium term. Climate change impacts on groundwater rely on mathematical modeling, using recharge projections obtained from the climate forecasts of the Regional Climate Models set up for Europe. Sea level change is also a component of this analysis and its ensuing impacts of saltwater intrusion on the coastal and estuarine areas of Aluviões do Tejo and Bacia do Tejo-Sado/Margem Esquerda aquifers. 4p DHA/NRE

Therefore, it is necessary to develop cost-effective practices to reduce the vulnerability of olive crops to the adverse impacts of environmental stresses. Rainfed olive trees were sprayed with zeolites, natural crystalline aluminosilicates, and its effects on photosynthetic activity, phenolic composition, antioxidant activity, leaf minerais concentrations, plant growth, yield, and olive oil quality were assessed. Zeolites application enhanced photosynthetic activity, as well the concentrations of N, Mg, Cu, Zn and Mn in leaves, and changed the secondary metabolism, with decrease oftotal phenols, ortho-diphenols and total antioxidant activity, signs of lower oxidative stress. As consequence, zeolites boosted plant growth, crop yield, and size and weight of fruits. The foliar spray did not significantly affect the oil quality indices free acidity, peroxide value and Km and K270 coefficients. This study strongly suggests that folial' zeolites might be an effective strategy to mitigate the adverse environmental conditions. description Publicationkeyboard_double_arrow_right Article 2010Publisher:Universidade Federal de São Carlos Authors: Luci Ines Bassetto;O presente trabalho trata dos conceitos e práticas da Responsabilidade Social e Sustentabilidade Empresarial.

4p DHA/NRE

For this purpose, primary data was obtained through the application of 15 questionnaires to beneficiaries and the equal number to non-beneficiaries in Baturite, Iguatu and Quixada counties, totaling 90 questionnaires. The sustainability index, employment and farm income per cultivated hectare were calculated to measure the impact of the program on the sustainable development, generation of income and employment on family farms of beneficiaries. Based on the descriptive analysis and the application of the t Student test, Chi-Square test and Mann-Whitney U test, comparisons between the selected groups of family farming were promoted. Results showed that the beneficiaries and non-beneficiaries have a low sustainability level. Pronaf had a positive impact, but not significant on farm income generation, and positive effect on the creation of employment.

This internship report aims to present an analysis and reflection of teaching and extralegal activities throughout the Supervised Pedagogical Internship, developed in Escola Secundária Dr. ª Maria Cândida, in Mira, during the school year 2020/2021. In addition, I intend to reflect on the application of didactic-pedagogical strategy, in this specific case the Application of Media in Geographic and Environmental Education, the specific case of the newspaper applied to the theme of Climate Change. The report is divided in three parts. The first part, where the general description of the school is made, accompanied by the geographic framing, class, internship nucleus and the activities carried out throughout the internship. The second part is directed towards the theoretical and scientific reflection associated with the theme of didactic application. The theme of the scientific component is Climate Change and its impacts on human health, as well as the emergence or resurgence of parasitic diseases in Europe. In the third part, the didactic strategy is presented, the newspaper made by the students, accompanied by the results obtained from the survey carried out to the teachers of the grouping and to the students about it. In this chapter there is also a reflection on distance learning and the impacts on learning for both teachers and students. The objectives proposed for this strategy were positive, since I obtained the desired feedback from the students, as well as all the dedication in the construction of the newspaper.
