This paper describes a bidirectional twisted single-phase single-stage buck-boost dc-ac converter based on an output unfolding circuit. This solution is derived by the combination of an inverting buck-boost dc-dc converter and an unfolding circuit. The operation principle, component design guidelines, along with the control approach are presented. The zero-crossing distortion problem is discussed and solved by a simple approach. The simulation and experimental results confirm all theoretical statements. Loss distribution and achievable efficiency are analyzed. Finally, the pros and cons of the proposed solution, along with the most promising application field, are analyzed and discussed in the conclusion.

The effect of torques from uneven loading of the belt on the possibility of its torsion is investigated. It is shown, that the angle of rotation of the tape depends not only on the magnitude of the applied torque, but also on the design of the BTC, the geometric characteristics of the section of the tubular belt, the physical properties of its material. The effect of the coefficient of friction of the belt on the rollers on the possibility of its rotation has been investigated for various belt loading options with maximum irregularity. It is shown, that with a decrease in the load of the belt, the danger of its torsion increases. The boundaries, in which the coefficient of friction of the belt on the rollers must be found, are determined, so that the torsion of the belt does not occur.

Pavelets; V. N. Komashchenko; K. V. Kolezhuk; Yu. N. Bobrenko;Abstract Some new structures of thin-film solar converters (SC) based on heterojunctions (HJ) with intermediate semiconductor layers are suggested. Thin protective layers and a quasi-electric field incorporated into the space charge region (SCR) prevent cross-diffusion of HJ components and increase efficiency of charge carrier separation. They also decrease the diode dark current and provide high stability of the converter parameters. Thin (∼ 0.1 μ M) (CdSe) x (ZnTe) 1− x or Zn x Cd 1− x Se layers were used as graded band-gap layers. They were places between a photosensitive II-VI-compound (CdTe, CdSe, CdSe x Te 1− x ) base layer and the transparent Cu 1.8 S layer. The above structures were prepared by vacuum closed space sublimation. The properties of these compounds were studied by electron microscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) with ion etching. The photoelectron properties of structures such as Cu 1.8 S/(CdSe) x )(ZnTe) 1− x /CdSe are presented in detail. The manufacturing technology for the integrated solar batteries based on CdTe, CdSe, and CdSe x Te 1− x compounds was developed. The solar cell parameters under low illumination intensities are comparable to those of solar batteries based on c-Si and a-Si. The competitiveness of the polycrystalline thin-film SC is due to ease and low cost of fabrication (as compared with c-Si and a-Si) and also to the extended photosensitivity range (as compared to a-Si).

It was established that for the numerical solution of thermal problems of heat transfer in the strip-roll system described by equations of unsteady heat conduction, the finite difference method is the most effective. For the further numerical solution of the problems of unsteady thermal conductivity of the strip and rolls during hot rolling, the sections of slabs and rolls were divided by a conditional mesh. Energy balance equations with subsequent finite-difference Fourier approximation for possible options of the mesh nodes occurring in solving the two-dimensional problem of unsteady heat conduction. When solving the heat balance problems for both the strip and the rolls, the performed transformations make it possible to switch from solving the nonlinear heat conduction problem to solving the linearized problem. It was also shown that when calculating the thermal state of the active zone in which cyclic temperature changes occur during one revolution, it becomes possible to switch from solving a problem in a cylindrical coordinate system to solving it in a rectangular coordinate system. Transition to solving a one-dimensional strip-roll system greatly simplifies the calculation. The solution of the III boundary-value problem for the roll and comparison of the obtained results with the results of solutions for the strip-roll system enables the theoretical determination of the heat transfer coefficient in the deformation zone. The study results can be used to determine temperature and speed mode of cooling a thin strip during its rolling as well as set tasks for designing special equipment for accelerated cooling in a production stream of strip rolling mills

This article presents the possibility of evaluating the efficiency of the heat exchange element with a special stamping plate, which is based on the results of computer simulation. The method is based on a comparative analysis of convective heat transfer models implemented in ANSYS using a k-ε turbulence model. To conduct the study, 3D models of three different types of cavity geometry formed between two heat exchange plates (flat plate, chevron plate, and plate with conical stampings) were built. Simulation was performed by finite element analysis in ANSYS for channels formed by the three types of plates, one of which is a new configuration. The results of hydrodynamic and heat exchange parameters allowed for establishing the efficiency of convective heat exchange for plates of known structures and to compare them with the proposed one. It was found that the plates with conical stamping form the smallest channels through which the fluid moves. The velocity of the coolant is uniform throughout the cross section of the channel and equal to 0.294 m/s; the value of the heat transfer coefficient is the largest of the three models and is 5339 W/(m K), while the pressure drop is 1060 Pa. Taking into account the simulation results, the best heat transfer parameters were shown by the channel formed by plates with conical stamping and the highest pressure drop. To increase the efficiency, indicated by the ratio of heat transfer coefficients to hydraulic resistance, the geometry of the plate with conical stamping was optimized. As a result of optimization, it was found that the optimal geometric parameters of the heat exchange plate with conical stamping were achieved at a 55° inclination angle and 1.5 mm height for the cone. The results of this study can be used in the design of heat exchange elements of new structures with optimal parameters for highly efficient heating of liquid coolants.

The main objective of the research is to assess the ability of the Ukrainian economy and its individual industries to ensure, in the conditions of economic growth, a stable reduction of natural gas consumption and, consequently, to reduce dependence on its imports. Six types of relationships were identified between the change in sectoral added value and the change in the consumption of certain energy resources, in particular natural gas. The conditions are established under which the growth of sectoral added value is accompanied by a decrease in the consumption of certain energy resources. The index of sectoral efficiency of the use of certain energy resources was proposed and a model of the decomposition of the growth rate of this indicator was constructed. Quantitative indicators of measuring economic barriers on the way to introduction of energy-saving technologies are presented. Conditions under which economic growth is accompanied by a decrease in the level of dependence of the economy on imports of energy resources are modeled. The dynamics of natural gas consumption by sectors of the Ukrainian economy is analyzed. It is proved that reduction of natural gas consumption due to increased energy efficiency occurs mainly in industries with an average value of share of the cost of purchasing this energy in the total operating expenses. An estimation is undertaken of the possibility of achieving independence of the Ukrainian economy from the import of natural gas in different scenarios of changing main parameters that determine the probability of such an achievement.
