description Publicationkeyboard_double_arrow_right Article , Other literature type 2020Publisher:EDP Sciences Authors: Prashant Patunkar; Sunil V. Dingare; Virendra Bhojwani;Evaporative cooling is one of the techniques to lower the ambient air temperature according to the requirements. The technique includes the injection of moisture in the coming air, thus increasing its specific humidity. This technique can cool the air up to wet bulb temperature of the incoming air. In the recent past, the techniques are developed to lower the temperature of air without addition of moisture in the incoming air. These techniques demonstrate that the incoming air temperature can be approached near the dew point temperature of the incoming air. The present paper essentially focuses on the recent theoretical and experimental research of dew point evaporative coolers. Different flow configurations of heat exchange mediums, optimization of geometrical parameters, performance parameters (wet bulb and dew point effectiveness), energy efficiency ratio and energy saving potential are the key elements to study the prospects of dew point evaporative coolers over the conventional refrigeration systems operated by mechanical means. Dew point evaporative cooling technology is environmental friendly and has the potential in reducing the impact on earth due to global warming.

Only in recent years IEQ has been investigated as a whole. Today, IEQ occupies the same place of energy efficiency in the design of buildings, especially those with high performance level as the Zero-Energy Buildings (ZEB). The research deals with an experimental campaign during the cooling season carried out in a ZEB laboratory that involved 100 participants aimed at evaluating the IEQ and the indoor environments (e.g. thermal and air quality). The test consists in a survey, during which each participant is required to answer a questionnaire about how he feels the indoor environment. The experimental campaign was completed with a monitoring activity aimed at detecting the main environmental variables that can affect the participants’ answers. Collected data were treated with regression techniques to highlight possible relationships between them. The results show how in a building with high levels of energy performances the air quality plays a key role on occupants’ evaluation.

Furthermore, this usage leads to the process of increasing accumulated thermal energy per unit mass concentration to be achieved in a much beneficial and reliable manner. In comparison to these materials, well-known and widely–used solid and liquid ones are mainly associated with productivity and efficiencylosses. One of the methods, having desirable attributes for substantial enhancement in the energy productivity of phase change materials is proved to be the addition of solid nanoparticles with a large coefficient of thermal conductivity. This work focuses on numerical and experimental investigation the influence of nanoparticles of various materials and sizes on the processes of thermal energy storage in paraffin. In particular, the proceeding data of the thermophysical properties of paraffin with nanoparticles as being found by the optical spectroscopy method. Moreover, due to comprehensive results in experimental and numerical studies, the heat accumulating capacity of the phase change materials, as well as the dynamics and profile of the melting boundary around cylindrical heat sources were reported to be determined. Besides, the comparison of heatstorage capacity for phase change materials with and without nanoparticles is managed.

Using the example of the Moscow region, we reveal regularities in the change in the structure of heat sources and the organization of the main elements of the heat supply system. In addition, we propose an improved method for the formation of the marginal tariff for heat taking into account the structure of heat sources and allowing to eliminate the existing disadvantages of introducing market-based pricing methods. Moreover, we develop a mechanism for the sustainable development of centralized heat supply systems based on the organization of competitive selection of heat suppliers and the method of forming the maximum heat tariff.
