The DEXi-Pépi method was developed in order to have a global approach for improving aboveground nursery culture systems. This method, adapted from DEXiPM® model, is a hierarchical multi-criteria and qualitative model that includes 89 entry criteria: (i) 56 criteria dependent of the culture system, (ii) 23 criteria linked to the context and system-dependent and (iii) 10 criteria linked to the context and independent of the system. Several criteria are redundant in the assessment (26). The number of entry criteria for each pillar of sustainability is unbalanced, partly reflecting the imbalance of knowledge on some pillars. The DEXi-Pépi model is a prototype that will evolve as the use increases and according to the users’ expectations.

For further information contact us at helpdesk@openaire.eudescription Publicationkeyboard_double_arrow_right Doctoral thesis 2012 FrancePublisher:HAL CCSD Authors: Lacour , Joaneson; In rural and peri-urban areas of Haiti, organic wastes and residues generated mainly by agricultural activities and agribusiness, are traditionally valued in situ in animal feeding as feed, in the fertilization of the soil as organic conditioner and/or for energy purposes as fuels. In parallel, the organic wastes of the cities are predominantly eliminated without any form of segregation in non-controlled landfills. This research work aimed to place the emphasis on the opportunity of valuing these wastes by biomethanation as an alternative way of biological treatment of organic biodegradable wastes. The exercise of assessment of organic wastes production has highlighted a loss of wastes-resources estimated at about 2 960 000 tons of dry matter per annum, potentially convertible to 367 500 000 Nm3 of methane or 310 000 toe, corresponding to approximately 16% of recovery of the final energy demand of the households of the whole country. The experimental approach at laboratory scale allowed to assess the ultimate biomethane potential different types of agricultural wastes like bagasse, cabbage and cattle, pigs and chickens manures as well as the possibilities of optimizing the kinetics of anaerobic digestion by some inexpensive means as the reduction of the particles size, the increase of ratio IVS/SVS, the nutrient balance and the synergy effects of co-digestion.

The acute toxicity was evaluated using mice.Acute toxicity of ethanolic extract of E. arborea showed no sign of toxicity at dose of 5 g/kg B.W. Our extracts have important antioxidant properties. The efficient concentration of the ethanolic extract (10.22 μg/ml) required for decreasing initial DPPH concentration by 50% was comparable to that of standard solution butyl-hydroxy-toluene (BHT) (8.87 μg/ml). The administration of ethanolic extract at doses of 200 and 400mg/kg B.W. was able to prevent plantar oedema and exhibited a significant inhibition against carrageenan-induced inflammation when compared to the control group (NaCl 0.9%) but comparable to those of diclofenac (reference drug). Our results show that the leaves of E. arborea may contain some bioactive compounds which are responsible for the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities observed here. Our finding may indicate the possibility of using the extracts of this plant to prevent the antioxidant and inflammatory processes.

The “Climate workshops” held on two territories in Burgundy were observed. Referring to the methods of «territorial design», they gathered local actors and researchers to introduce a collective debate on the adaptation of the water management according to the climate change effects. They represented an unusual participation time, compared to Local Water Commissions which are, in France, the institutional framework of the local water governance. The adoption of an interpretative mode allowed knowledge circulation and hybridization between scientists and local stakeholders. This action-research provides lessons on ways of establishing a dialogue among scientists and non-scientists, the implementation of territorial design methods to deal with uncertainty and a better understanding of representations of adaptation for water management.

The material applied to this gradient is composed either of smooth microsomes prepared from healthy animals, or of total microsomes prepared from cat treated by 50 per cent ethanol (0.6 g/100 g body weight, administered by stomach tube). A light fraction (d : 1.10) is obtained by the two procedures. It does not show any glucose-6-phosphatase activity, but is enriched in sialyltransferase, known as a marker enzyme for Golgi apparatus. It also contains the three enzymes implicated in the biosynthetic pathway for UDP-glucose (glucokinase, phosphoglucomutase and UTP : glucose-1-phosphate uridylyltransferase). UDP-glucose being the ultimate substrate in membranous glucosylation reactions, these results could support the hypothesis that sugar-nucleotides necessary for the glycoprotein biosynthesis are produced in the Golgi vesicles directly.

The project aims to coordinate and mutually enrich the ongoing works in different disciplines by enrolling the researchers in a Foresight approach. It is based on a holistic view of the technical and value chain. It analyses both forms of impact of climate change and the diversity of adaptation strategies. At first, we review the issues and the definition of adaptation. We then present a summary of the work done on the impacts of climate change and adaptation strategies. Adapatation combines technical innovations (varietal selection, agronomic practices, oenological processes...), with spatial strategies, institutional changes and the possibility of changing representations of wine consumers. In the last part, the LACCAVE project is presented in its general direction and according to its different working packages. In conclusion, implications for research are suggested, highlighting the ability to build cooperative relationships with growers and their organizations across regional clusters.
