    Oskarshamn is one of the municipalities being discussed as a possible site for disposal of nuclear waste from the Swedish nuclear power plants, and there has been inquiries made for a pilot study in the area. In view of this the local council of Oskarshamn appointed a ´Youth team´, consisting of ten young politicians from all political parties represented in the local council. The aim of the team was to inform and create debate among adolescents about how to store the radioactive waste from nuclear power plants. The purpose of this survey, addressed to young people in Oskarshamn, was to shed light on their opinion towards a pilot study and possible disposal of nuclear waste in Oskarshamn. The respondents had to answer questions about their opinion on the use of nuclear power in Sweden, if they believed nuclear power to be abolished by year 2010, and about their general interest in issues concerning energy and nuclear power. Other questions concerned risks associated with nuclear power, the influence different groups have/ought to have when it comes to disposal of nuclear waste, and if the respondent would accept a decision to dispose nuclear waste in Oskarshamn. A number of questions dealt with the suggested pilot study; if the respondent was for or against a pilot study; who should decide about the pilot study; if there had been enough information about the study; and if the respondent had attended any meeting, signed any petition, contacted any politician, contacted or participated in mass media, or tried to influence anyone´s opinion on any issue concerning the pilot study. The respondents also had to state the issues they considered to be important to study in a pilot study. Furthermore the respondents had to give their opinion about a number of risks discussed in connection with disposal of nuclear waste in Oskarshamn. Other questions concerned the influence on job opportunities and tourism. Demographic items include age, gender, marital status, children, education, occupation, and trade union membership.     Authors: SOM Institute, University Of Gothenburg;

    Since 1986 the SOM-institute has been carrying out an annual nation-wide survey - the National SOM - in order to identify the Swedish public's habits and attitudes on the topics of society, politics and media. National SOM 2007 is accordingly the twentysecond survey in this series. The SOM-institute is a collaboration between three departments/institutes at Göteborg University: the Institute for Journalism and Mass Communication, the Department of Political Science, and the Center for Public Sector Research (CEFOS). A number of research projects are involved in the National SOM - most from one of these three institutions, but also external projects are involved. Since 1998 the survey includes two nation representative samples and uses two different mail questionnaires. One of the questionnaires mainly deals with questions on politics, economy and working life, while the other mainly deals with media, culture and life style. The data collection is carried out in parallel and under identical conditions. In 2007 approximately one fifth of the questions asked in the two questionnaires are common for both samples, for example questions about media habits, political attitudes, leisure activities, and social background. The questionnaire on politics include ten different subject fields: news and media; politics, society and democracy; radio, television and the internet; Sweden's relations to the surrounding world; society and public service; environment and energy; knowledge and society; activities, interests, and values; work life; and background questions. The media questionnaire is divided into nine subject fields: news and papers; politics, society and democracy; radio and television; media technology, mobile telephony and internet; periodicals, books and libraries; movies and theatre; activities, interests, and values; work life and background questions. Purpose: The main purpose is to establish time series that enable researchers to analyse how various changes in society affect people's attitudes and behaviour. Detta är den tjugoandra undersökningen i serien Riks-SOM, en nationell frågeundersökning med syfte att kartlägga den svenska allmänhetens vanor och attityder på temat samhälle, opinioner och medier. Riks-SOM 2007 genomfördes som två undersökningar med två representativa urval och två olika formulär, där datainsamlingarna genomfördes parallellt och under identiska förhållanden. De båda formulären skiljer sig något åt i det att tyngdpunkten i det ena formuläret ligger på politik och samhälle, medan det andra har en tonvikt på frågor om medier, kultur och livsstil. Ungefär en femtedel av frågorna är gemensamma för de båda frågeformulären och kan därmed analyseras med dubbla urvalsstorleken som grund. Politikformuläret (Riks-1) innehåller tio olika frågeområden: nyheter och medier; politik, samhälle och demokrati; radio, tv och internet; omvärldsfrågor; samhälle och service; miljö och energi; kunskap och samhälle; aktiviteter, intressen och värderingar; arbetsliv; samt bakgrundsfrågor. Medieformuläret (Riks-2) tar upp nio frågeområden: nyheter och tidningar; politik, samhälle och demokrati; radio och tv; medieteknik, mobiltelefoni och internet; tidskrifter, böcker och bibliotek; film och teater; aktiviteter, intressen och värderingar; arbetsliv; samt bakgrundsfrågor. Syfte: Huvudsyftet är att etablera tidsserier som gör det möjligt att analysera hur olika samhällsförändringar påverkar människors attityder och beteenden.

    Authors: SOM Institute, University Of Gothenburg;

    This is the second study in the series of SOM-surveys carried out in Western Sweden exclusively. The questionnaire was divided into six subject fields: mass media; politics and society; the municipality of Göteborg; energy, nuclear power and environment; leisure and housing; and background. Many of the questions are replications of questions asked in SOM-survey Western Sweden 1992 (SSD 0460), but there is also a number of new questions. These questions dealt with time spent listening to the radio, viewing morning television and reading morning paper; impression of morning television; amount of local government issues read in the local paper; confidence in a number of Swedish mass media; opinion on a number of statements concerning the regional division of Sweden. Respondents living in Göteborg had to answer a number of questions dealing with the magazine ´Vårt Göteborg´, published by Göteborg local authority. Other questions specific for respondents living in Göteborg dealt with the neighbourhood committees and their activities. Respondents also had to give their opinion on a number of proposals concerning local environmental issues. Furthermore they had to indicate how often they had participated in a number of leisure activities the last twelve months. Purpose: Study attitudes and behaviors that are linked to local and regional issues and phenomena Detta är den andra studien i serien SOM-undersökningar genomförda i Västsverige. Undersökningens frågeformulär var indelat i sex områden: massmedia; politik och samhälle; Göteborgs kommun; energi, kärnkraft och miljö; fritid och boende; samt bakgrundsfrågor. Ett stort antal frågor är replikationer av de som ställdes i 1992 års Väst-SOM, men det finns även ett antal nya frågor. En ny fråga behandlar morgonvanor; hur lång tid man ägnar åt radiolyssnande, tittande på morgon-TV och läsning av morgontidning under perioden 5.00-10.00. Andra nya frågor tar upp inställning till morgon-TV, läsning av kommunalt material i den lokala tidningen, förtroendet för ett antal svenska massmedier, inställning till den regionala indelningen, inställning till ett antal förslag att förbättra kommunens miljö samt fritidsaktiviteter under det senaste året. Respondenter bosatta i Göteborg fick också besvara ett antal frågor om den av Göteborgs kommun utgivna informationstidningen 'Vårt Göteborg' samt om stadsdelsnämnderna och dess verksamhet. Syfte: Studera attityder och beteenden som är knutna till lokala och regionala frågor och företeelser

    Authors: SOM Institute, University Of Gothenburg;

    Detta är den tjugofjärde undersökningen i serien Riks-SOM, en nationell frågeundersökning med syfte att kartlägga den svenska allmänhetens vanor och attityder på temat samhälle, opinioner och medier. Mellan 1998 och 2008 genomfördes Riks-SOM som två undersökningar med två representativa urval och två olika formulär, där datainsamlingarna genomfördes parallellt och under identiska förhållanden. År 2009 utökades undersökningen ytterligare till tre delundersökningar, med ett urval om totalt 9 000 personer. Samtidigt kortades formulären något. De tre formulären skiljer sig något åt i det att tyngdpunkten i Riks-1 ligger på politik och samhälle; i Riks-2 på medier och kultur; i Riks-3 på livsstil och hälsa. Ungefär en femtedel av frågorna ingick i samtliga tre frågeformulär och kan därmed analyseras med tredubbla urvalsstorleken som grund. Det rör sig dels om SOM-undersökningens grundfrågor om politik och medier samt en stor mängd livsstils- och bakgrundsfrågor, dels om frågor som syftar till att belysa frågeställningar som fordrar ett större urval av svarspersoner för statistiskt säkerställda analyser. Riks-1 innehåller elva olika frågeområden: nyheter och medier; politik, samhälle och demokrati; tv; omvärldsfrågor; samhälle och service; miljö; energi; kunskap och samhälle; aktiviteter, intressen och värderingar; arbetsliv; samt bakgrundsfrågor. Riks-2 tar upp nio frågeområden: nyheter och medier; politik, samhälle och demokrati; radio och tv; svininfluensan; internet och andra medier; tidningar, böcker och bibliotek; aktiviteter, intressen och värderingar; arbetsliv; samt bakgrundsfrågor. Riks-3 omfattar åtta frågeområden: nyheter och medier; politik, samhälle och demokrati; medier, kultur och intressen; sjukvård och offentlig service; aktiviteter, intressen och värderingar; hälsa; arbetsliv; samt bakgrundsfrågor. Syfte: Huvudsyftet är att etablera tidsserier som gör det möjligt att analysera hur olika samhällsförändringar påverkar människors attityder och beteenden. Since 1986 the SOM-institute has been carrying out an annual nation-wide survey - the National SOM - in order to identify the Swedish public's habits and attitudes on the topics of society, politics and media. National SOM 2009 is accordingly the twenty-fourth survey in this series. Since 1998 the survey includes two nation representative samples and uses three different mail questionnaires. One fifth of the questions asked in the three questionnaires are common for both samples, for example questions about media habits, political attitudes, leisure activities, and social background. Purpose: The main purpose is to establish time series that enable researchers to analyse how various changes in society affect people's attitudes and behaviour.

    Authors: SOM Institute, University Of Gothenburg;

    Since 1986 the research project ´Samhälle Opinion Massmedia´ (SOM) has been carrying out an annual nation-wide survey of Swedish opinions. This is accordingly the eleventh survey in this series. The questionnaire was divided into six subject fields: mass media; politics and society; Sweden´s relations to the rest of the world; energy, nuclear power and environment; leisure; and background. Most of the questions are replications of questions asked in one or several previous SOM-surveys. New media questions dealt with how often the respondent read local advertisement papers as well as daily papers on the internet. The respondent also had to state if a number of statements corresponded with qualities held by the morning and evening papers the respondent used to read, and to indicate if criticism directed towards daily papers could be applied on papers read by the respondent. Respondents were also asked about their opinion on the function of democracy in Sweden, attitudes towards proposals how to reduce unemployment, and to give their opinion on the possibility to reduce unemployment by 50 percent until year 2000. Furthermore the respondents had to rank the most important and second most important goals for Sweden to work towards during the coming ten years. Respondents were also asked if they could consider to undertake political assignments for the political party they sympathize with. Other questions dealt with qualities possessed by three different political parties and their party leaders as well as by three different mass media; attitudes towards referendum held in certain issues as well as general attitudes toward referenda; and different group´s influence on programs supplied by the non commercial television channels as well as the commercial channel TV4. Respondents had to state if they believed one in general can trust most people, they also had to tell how satisfied they were with their own life, and to tell their knowledge of foreign languages. Purpose: The main purpose of the surveys is to establish time series that enable researchers to analyse how various changes in society affect people's attitudes and behaviour. Detta är den elfte undersökningen i serien Riks-SOM, en nationell frågeundersökning med syfte att kartlägga den svenska allmänhetens vanor och attityder på temat samhälle, opinioner och medier. 1996 års undersökning består av sex sammanhållna delar: massmedier; politik och samhälle; Sveriges förhållande till omvärlden; energi, kärnkraft och miljö; fritid; samt bakgrundsfrågor. Genom att frågor ställts på ett likartat sätt över tid finns det i SOM-serien tidsserier om bland annat medieanvändning, politik, kärnkraftsopinion och förtroende för olika samhällsinstitutioner och grupper. Nya mediefrågor behandlar bland annat läsning av lokala annonsblad och tidningsläsning på internet; egenskaper hos de morgon- och kvällstidningar som respondenten läser och huruvida den kritik som riktats mot morgon- och kvällspress är tillämpbar på de tidningar respondenten brukar läsa. Andra nya frågeställningar berörde åsikten om hur demokratin fungerar i Sverige; åsikter om hur arbetslösheten kan minskas; och inställning till möjligheten att halvera arbetslösheten till år 2000. Därutöver fick respondenten ranka vilka mål som Sverige bör arbeta mot de kommande tio åren: upprätthålla lag och ordning; ge enskilda människor större möjlighet att påverka politiska beslut; bekämpa prisstegringarna; eller skydda yttrandefriheten. Andra frågor berörde respondentens benägenhet att åta sig politiska uppdrag; egenskaper hos tre olika partier och dess partiledare samt hos tre olika medier; åsikter om folkomröstningar i olika specifika frågor samt om folkomröstningar mera allmänt; olika gruppers inflytande på vilka program som sänds i Sveriges Television respektive TV4; samt respondentens språkkunskaper. Därutöver fick respondenten ange om man i allmänhet kan lita på de flesta människor eller om man bör vara försiktig i kontakten med andra och hur nöjd man på det hela taget är med det liv man lever. Syfte: Huvudsyftet är att etablera tidsserier som gör det möjligt att analysera hur olika samhällsförändringar påverkar människors attityder och beteenden.

    Authors: SOM Institute, University Of Gothenburg;

    Since 1986 the SOM-institute has been carrying out an annual nation-wide survey of Swedish opinions. This is accordingly the seventeenth survey in this series. The SOM-institute is a collaboration between three departments at Göteborg University: the Institute for Journalism and Mass Communication, the Department of Political Science, and the School of Public Administration. Since 1998 the survey includes two nation representative samples and uses two different mail questionnaires. One third of the questions asked in the two questionnaires are common for both samples, for example questions about media habits, political attitudes, leisure activities, and social background. Both questionnaires in National SOM 2002 include nine different subject fields. A large number of the questions are common for both questionnaires, hence they can be studied with double sample size. Both questionnaires include the subject fields: politics and society; possession of technical equipment and the internet; and background questions. The questionnaire on politics also include: mass media; Sweden's relationship to the surrounding world; energy, nuclear power and the future; work and industry; leisure time, interests and health; and democracy and influence. The media questionnaire include: news and papers; mass media and society; the EU summit meeting in Göteborg; libraries; leisure time; and 'Your yesterday'. Purpose: The main purpose is to establish time series that enable researchers to analyse how various changes in society affect people's attitudes and behaviour. Detta är den sjuttonde undersökningen i serien Riks-SOM, en nationell frågeundersökning med syfte att kartlägga den svenska allmänhetens vanor och attityder på temat samhälle, opinioner och medier. Riks-SOM 2002 genomfördes som två undersökningar med två representativa urval och två olika formulär, där datainsamlingarna genomfördes parallellt och under identiska förhållanden. Frågeformulären skiljer sig något åt i det att tyngdpunkten i det ena formuläret ligger på politik och samhälle, medan det andra har en tonvikt på frågor om medier, kultur och livsstil. Ett stort antal frågor är gemensamma för båda frågeformulären och kan därmed bearbetas med dubbel urvalsstorlek. Båda formulären innehåller nio olika frågeområden. Gemensamma frågeområden är: politik och samhälle; teknikinnehav och internet; samt bakgrund. Politikformuläret innehåller även: massmedier; Sveriges förhållande till omvärlden; energi, kärnkraft, miljö och framtid; arbete och industri; fritid, intresse och hälsa; samt demokrati och inflytande. Medieformuläret tar även upp: nyheter och tidningar; massmedier och samhälle; EU:s toppmöte i Göteborg; bibliotek; fritid; samt 'Din gårdag'. Syfte: Huvudsyftet är att etablera tidsserier som gör det möjligt att analysera hur olika samhällsförändringar påverkar människors attityder och beteenden.

    Authors: Hedberg, Per; Sundquist, Göran;

    Oskarshamn is one of the municipalities being discussed as a possible site for disposal of nuclear waste from the Swedish nuclear power plants, and there has been inquiries made for a pilot study in the area. In view of this the local council of Oskarshamn appointed a ´Youth team´, consisting of ten young politicians from all political parties represented in the local council. The aim of the team was to inform and create debate among adolescents about how to store the radioactive waste from nuclear power plants. The purpose of this survey, addressed to young people in Oskarshamn, was to shed light on their opinion towards a pilot study and possible disposal of nuclear waste in Oskarshamn. The respondents had to answer questions about their opinion on the use of nuclear power in Sweden, if they believed nuclear power to be abolished by year 2010, and about their general interest in issues concerning energy and nuclear power. Other questions concerned risks associated with nuclear power, the influence different groups have/ought to have when it comes to disposal of nuclear waste, and if the respondent would accept a decision to dispose nuclear waste in Oskarshamn. A number of questions dealt with the suggested pilot study; if the respondent was for or against a pilot study; who should decide about the pilot study; if there had been enough information about the study; and if the respondent had attended any meeting, signed any petition, contacted any politician, contacted or participated in mass media, or tried to influence anyone´s opinion on any issue concerning the pilot study. The respondents also had to state the issues they considered to be important to study in a pilot study. Furthermore the respondents had to give their opinion about a number of risks discussed in connection with disposal of nuclear waste in Oskarshamn. Other questions concerned the influence on job opportunities and tourism. Demographic items include age, gender, marital status, children, education, occupation, and trade union membership.     Authors: SOM Institute, University Of Gothenburg;

    Authors: SOM Institute, University Of Gothenburg;

In 2006 approximately one fourth of the questions asked in the two questionnaires are common for both samples, for example questions about media habits, political attitudes, leisure activities, and social background. The questionnaire on politics include ten different subject fields: news and media; politics, society and democracy; Sweden's relations to the surrounding world; possession of technical equipment and internet; society and public service; environment and energy; knowledge and society; activities, interests, and values; work life; and background questions. The media questionnaire is divided into eleven subject fields: news and papers; politics, society and democracy; television and radio; possession of technical equipment, internet and mobile telephony; periodicals, books and libraries; movies and theatre; media and society; the dog in society; activities, interests, and values; work life and background questions. Purpose: The main purpose is to establish time series that enable researchers to analyse how various changes in society affect people's attitudes and behaviour.

    Authors: SOM Institute, University Of Gothenburg;

    Detta är den tjugofjärde undersökningen i serien Riks-SOM, en nationell frågeundersökning med syfte att kartlägga den svenska allmänhetens vanor och attityder på temat samhälle, opinioner och medier. Mellan 1998 och 2008 genomfördes Riks-SOM som två undersökningar med två representativa urval och två olika formulär, där datainsamlingarna genomfördes parallellt och under identiska förhållanden. År 2009 utökades undersökningen ytterligare till tre delundersökningar, med ett urval om totalt 9 000 personer. Samtidigt kortades formulären något. De tre formulären skiljer sig något åt i det att tyngdpunkten i Riks-1 ligger på politik och samhälle; i Riks-2 på medier och kultur; i Riks-3 på livsstil och hälsa. Ungefär en femtedel av frågorna ingick i samtliga tre frågeformulär och kan därmed analyseras med tredubbla urvalsstorleken som grund. Det rör sig dels om SOM-undersökningens grundfrågor om politik och medier samt en stor mängd livsstils- och bakgrundsfrågor, dels om frågor som syftar till att belysa frågeställningar som fordrar ett större urval av svarspersoner för statistiskt säkerställda analyser. Riks-1 innehåller elva olika frågeområden: nyheter och medier; politik, samhälle och demokrati; tv; omvärldsfrågor; samhälle och service; miljö; energi; kunskap och samhälle; aktiviteter, intressen och värderingar; arbetsliv; samt bakgrundsfrågor. Riks-2 tar upp nio frågeområden: nyheter och medier; politik, samhälle och demokrati; radio och tv; svininfluensan; internet och andra medier; tidningar, böcker och bibliotek; aktiviteter, intressen och värderingar; arbetsliv; samt bakgrundsfrågor. Riks-3 omfattar åtta frågeområden: nyheter och medier; politik, samhälle och demokrati; medier, kultur och intressen; sjukvård och offentlig service; aktiviteter, intressen och värderingar; hälsa; arbetsliv; samt bakgrundsfrågor. Syfte: Huvudsyftet är att etablera tidsserier som gör det möjligt att analysera hur olika samhällsförändringar påverkar människors attityder och beteenden. Since 1986 the SOM-institute has been carrying out an annual nation-wide survey - the National SOM - in order to identify the Swedish public's habits and attitudes on the topics of society, politics and media. National SOM 2009 is accordingly the twenty-fourth survey in this series.

    Authors: SOM Institute, University Of Gothenburg;

    Authors: SOM Institute, University Of Gothenburg;

One of the questionnaires mainly deals with questions on politics, economy and working life, while the other mainly deals with media, culture and health. One third of the questions asked in the two questionnaires are common for both samples, for example questions about media habits, political attitudes, leisure activities, and social background. Both questionnaires in National SOM 2002 include nine different subject fields. A large number of the questions are common for both questionnaires, hence they can be studied with double sample size. Both questionnaires include the subject fields: politics and society; possession of technical equipment and the internet; and background questions. The questionnaire on politics also include: mass media; Sweden's relationship to the surrounding world; energy, nuclear power and the future; work and industry; leisure time, interests and health; and democracy and influence. The media questionnaire include: news and papers; mass media and society; the EU summit meeting in Göteborg; libraries; leisure time; and 'Your yesterday'. Purpose: The main purpose is to establish time series that enable researchers to analyse how various changes in society affect people's attitudes and behaviour. Detta är den sjuttonde undersökningen i serien Riks-SOM, en nationell frågeundersökning med syfte att kartlägga den svenska allmänhetens vanor och attityder på temat samhälle, opinioner och medier. Riks-SOM 2002 genomfördes som två undersökningar med två representativa urval och två olika formulär, där datainsamlingarna genomfördes parallellt och under identiska förhållanden. Frågeformulären skiljer sig något åt i det att tyngdpunkten i det ena formuläret ligger på politik och samhälle, medan det andra har en tonvikt på frågor om medier, kultur och livsstil. Ett stort antal frågor är gemensamma för båda frågeformulären och kan därmed bearbetas med dubbel urvalsstorlek. Båda formulären innehåller nio olika frågeområden. Gemensamma frågeområden är: politik och samhälle; teknikinnehav och internet; samt bakgrund. Politikformuläret innehåller även: massmedier; Sveriges förhållande till omvärlden; energi, kärnkraft, miljö och framtid; arbete och industri; fritid, intresse och hälsa; samt demokrati och inflytande. Medieformuläret tar även upp: nyheter och tidningar; massmedier och samhälle; EU:s toppmöte i Göteborg; bibliotek; fritid; samt 'Din gårdag'. Syfte: Huvudsyftet är att etablera tidsserier som gör det möjligt att analysera hur olika samhällsförändringar påverkar människors attityder och beteenden.
