    O património cultural imaterial está relacionado com a criação cultural (saber-dizer e saber-fazer) de uma determinada comunidade. Ele é transmitido de geração em geração, especialmente, através da herança cultural e histórica. O turismo criativo tem, de certa forma, a sua base no património cultural imaterial. O presente artigo tem como objetivo principal descrever a atividade cultural criativa ‘bonecos de meia’ oferecida pelo projeto ‘Saidas de Mestre’ da MARCA-ADL (Associação Desenvolvimento Local). Para atingir o objetivo seguiu-se uma metodologia qualitativa baseada na observação não-participante. Os resultados mostraram que a atividade permite uma experência educativa memorável para os participantes.     O presente trabalho tem como âmbito identificar e descrever comportamentos, atitudes e ações no contexto da hotelaria enquanto medidas cooperativas para a sustentabilidade ambiental, retirando-se perspetivas do lado do cliente e do lado do gestor. A sustentabilidade é um tema que tem ganho uma relevância cada vez maior a nível nacional e mundial, a crescente preocupação com o estado do planeta proporciona uma reflexão maior sobre as ações humanas no quotidiano que, neste sentido, devem minimizar os impactos por meio de produtos, serviços, procedimentos e técnicas relacionadas com um desenvolvimento ambiental mais sustentável. Através da revisão de literatura foi possível identificar e caracterizar elementos importantes para formulação da questão de investigação, servindo como meio conceptual dos conceitos abordados ao longo desta dissertação e dando significado às questões abordadas. De forma a responder às questões de investigação, este estudo explorou por intermédio de questionários a opinião de 320 indivíduos sobre a sustentabilidade ambiental na indústria hoteleira. Simultaneamente investigou através de entrevistas ao corpo de administração de 2 hotéis, 2 grupos hoteleiros e 1 alojamento local as motivações e dificuldades para adotar medidas sustentáveis nas suas unidades. Com efeito, os resultados permitiram concluir que a sustentabilidade ambiental tem vindo a ganhar uma importância maior na vida dos inquiridos e acarreta também uma importância considerável para indústria hoteleira, não obstante entendeu-se que os inquiridos ainda consideram outras comodidades mais importantes na seleção de um hotel ou alojamento local em relação às medidas ambientais sustentáveis praticadas pela unidade, ao mesmo tempo, vii chega-se à conclusão que a gestão hoteleira tem atuado sobre a proteção ambiental dos seus estabelecimentos, mas que o modo como implementam medidas varia de acordo com as estratégia de mercado que estabelecem. The present work aims to identify and describe behaviors, attitudes and actions in the context of hospitality as cooperative measures for environmental sustainability in order to get perspectives from the client side and the manager side. Sustainability is a topic that has gained increasing relevance at national and global level, the growing concern with the state of the planet provides a greater reflection on human actions in daily life, which, in this sense, should minimize impacts through products, services, procedures and techniques related to more sustainable environmental development. Through the literature review, it was possible to identify and characterize important elements that helps formulating the research question, serving as a conceptual means of the concepts covered throughout this dissertation and giving meaning to the issues addressed. In order to answer the research questions, this study explored, through questionnaires, the opinion of 320 individuals about the environmental sustainability in the hotel industry. At the same time, through interviews with the board of directors of 2 hotels, 2 hotel groups and 1 local accommodation, it was investigated the motivations and difficulties about adopting sustainable measures in their units. In fact, the results allowed to conclude that environmental sustainability has been gaining a greater importance in the life of the respondents and also entails considerable importance for the hotel industry, although it was understood that the respondents still consider more important other facilities while selecting a hotel or local accommodation in relation to the sustainable environmental measures practiced by the unit, at the same time, it is concluded that the hotel management has been acted on the environmental protection of its x establishments, but the way they implement measures varies according to the strategies that they establish.

    Cada vez mais, os consumidores exigem empresas com negócios responsáveis e sustentáveis, estando os termos Responsabilidade Social Corporativa, Sustentabilidade e ESG na ordem do dia no mundo empresarial. Assiste-se por parte das empresas à sua incorporação, desenvolvendo estratégias de forma a integrar as preocupações mais atuais aos níveis sociais, ambientais e de governação nas suas atividades e operações. Para além das empresas puderem ajudar a mitigar estas preocupações, os investimentos nestas áreas podem trazer-lhes diversos benefícios. Este estudo pretende analisar qual a perceção dos consumidores sobre estes temas e a importância que têm para os mesmos, aplicando-se a um caso prático sobre a seguradora Fidelidade. Com base num inquérito preparado para este fim, cujas respostas eram anónimas, pretendeu-se medir a perceção atual que os consumidores têm sobre a Fidelidade e estudar as formas de aumentar a sua perceção a futuro. More and more, consumers demand companies with responsible and sustainable businesses, becoming terms such as Corporate Social Responsibility, Sustainability, and ESG a part of day by day of the recent enterprise world. Those are being incorporated by enterprises, which are developing strategies to integrate the most recent concerns at social, environmental and governance levels into their activities and operations. Beyond the fact of companies might be able to mitigate these concerns, investments in these areas can reward them with several benefits. This thesis aims to analyse the perception of consumers on these themes and its importance for them, applying it to a practical case about the insurance company Fidelidade. Based on a survey designed for this purpose, whose answers were anonymous, it was evaluated the current perception that consumers have about Fidelidade, as well as it was studied how to increase their perception in the future.

    Um nearly zero-energy building (nzeb) é um edifício que produz tanta ou mais energia quanto a que consome num ano típico. As medidas de eficiência assumem um papel de tal forma preponderante na redução das necessidades de consumo que, através da captação de energias renováveis, se torna possível alcançar um balanço de energia zero. Actualmente, a abordagem mais comum é usar a rede pública como fonte e dissipador dessa energia eléctrica. O conceito tem-se expandido de forma notória, dentro ou fora do território nacional, sendo hoje possível aprendermos os conceitos inerentes aos edifícios de energia zero a partir de importantes projectos, como é exemplo disso o edifício Solar XXI em Lisboa. Este documento procura abordar o tema de forma prática e acessível, do ponto de vista das preocupações da arquitectura. Para isso, contribui um caso de estudo que pretende compor uma lógica integradora de várias estratégias determinantes no comportamento térmico do edifício, com intenções de arquitetura contemporânea que se querem fiéis aos seus princípios. A nearly zero-energy building (nzeb) is a sort of building that produces as much or more energy than it consumes in an average year. The efficiency measures play an important role to reduce energy consumption such that the balance of energy needs can be supplied with renewable technologies in order to reach a zero energy result. Today’s approach is usually to use the public grid as a source and a way to dissipate this electric energy. This concept has been spreading in a notorious way in and outside our national territory. With this intention, it is possible today to learn the underlying concepts of the energy zero buildings through several projects, such as the Solar XXI building in Lisbon. This Document approaches this subject in a practical and accessible way, from the point of view of architecture concerns. Additionally it contributes with a case study that develops a set of several strategies that are determinant in the building’s thermal behaviour alongside with contemporary architecture intentions that are supposed to follow their own principles.

    This study aimed to identify potential sources of organic matter in sediment, using stable isotopes of carbon (delta13C) and nitrogen (delta15N). Sediment samples were gathered from the margin and in center of three subsystems: Ivinheima, Paraná and Baia, in August/2001. The samples were fractionated granulometrically and separated by size (< 200 µm; 70-200 µm; > 70 µm), prepared and sent to CENA / USP, for identifying the isotopes proportions. Significant differences were detected in the isotopic ratios of the sediment only between sampling stations. The Baía channel presented the lowest delta13C values, while the highest ones were recorded in Paraná river. At this last, delta15N values were negative (-14.41‰). We did not verify significant difference in isotopic composition between the particle sizes of sediment, and between the sampling points. The main sources of carbon for the sediment were C3 macrophytes, periphyton and particulate organic carbon (POC).

    Currently there is a growing concern about climate change resulting from increased CO2 emissions, leading to an increasing demand of buildings that are more sustainable and energy efficient. The AEC industry have been acquiring more demanding standards of sustainability and energy efficiency, requiring analysis processes to be more complex and integrated with each other. Therefore, it has become vital to implement BIM, enabling greater efficiency in the collaborative process between actors. Thus, the use of BIM can contribute to sustainability through forecasting energy consumption and their usage costs with credibility, reliability and consistency of results.     Apesar da importância da implementação de práticas sustentáveis estar devidamente comprovada e ser compreendida por grande parte da população, a ampla aplicação e implementação dos conceitos de construção sustentável ainda não é uma realidade. Diversos estudos têm sido realizados com o objetivo de compreender o porquê desta fraca aplicação tendo concluído que um dos principais fatores para tal é o facto de as práticas sustentáveis serem consideradas mais caras. Vários estudos provaram que muitas das medidas de sustentabilidade possuem custos inferiores às tradicionais numa perspetiva do ciclo de vida. Contudo, os profissionais do sector ainda não estão consciencializados deste facto e por isso não implementam medidas de construção sustentável. Neste artigo é apresentada uma metodologia de análise de custoͲbenefício de medidas de reabilitação sustentável, que pretende ultrapassar esta barreira e promover a implementação de práticas sustentáveis. The importance of implementing sustainable practices in buildings is duly proved and understood by the majority of the population. However, its implementation is not yet a reality. Some studies have been performed with the goal of understand this lack of use of sustainable solutions, among building sector stakeholders. The conclusion is that one of the main factors contributing to this is related with economic constraints. Several studies have proven that many sustainable practices correspond to minor costs than traditional practices in a life cycle perspective. However, the building sector stakeholders are not aware of this and do not implement sustainable practices commonly. In this paper a costâ benefit methodology willing to cross this barrier and promote the sustainable practices implementation is presented.

    O aparecimento de novas correntes de design como, por exemplo, o eco-design, o design social e inclusivo ou o slow design, são primordiais ao nível da gestão de recursos, da relação Homem - natureza, das deficiências e limitações humanas e da sustentabilidade do nosso planeta. O presente estudo explora as perspectivas do papel do design no artesanato. Numa abordagem teórica examina conceitos como: design, o papel do designer, as novas correntes de design e o design para a sustentabilidade. O trabalho prático incide na análise de entrevistas efectuadas a estilistas e artesãos no sentido de perceber a viabilidade de um trabalho conjunto. Os resultados preliminares confirmam que as ideias do design sustentável são perfeitamente adequadas a um contexto de artesanato têxtil como se demonstra nas expressões recolhidas como: emoções, tempo, valorização e fazer à mão. The appearance of new currents of design, for example, eco-design, social and inclusive design or slow design, are essentials for the management of resources, the relationship man - nature, human weaknesses and limitations and for the sustainability of our planet. This study explores the perspectives and the role of design in the handcraft. In a theoretical approach, it examines concepts such as design, the designer's role, the new currents of design and design for sustainability. The practical work focuses on analysis of interviews with designers and craftsmen in order to realize the feasibility of a joint work. Preliminary results confirm that the ideas of sustainable design are perfectly suited to a context of textile crafts as demonstrated in the expressions collected as emotions, time, value enhancement and hand made.     Dissertação de Mestrado Integrado em Engenharia Mecânica apresentada à Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia O conforto térmico é algo cada vez mais valorizado pelo ser humano, sendo fundamental para a sua produtividade e o seu bem-estar. Porém, assegurar condições de conforto térmico tem consequências energéticas, económicas e ambientais. Os órgãos de governo da União Europeia consideram que o aumento da eficiência energética dos edifícios é algo de extrema importância, devido a estes serem grandes consumidores de energia. Logo, um método eficaz de reduzir custos energéticos e económicos e impactos ambientais passa por tornar os edifícios muito eficientes energeticamente. A eficiência energética de um edifício está diretamente relacionada com a qualidade das suas soluções construtivas. Uma forma de melhorar as características das soluções construtivas é o uso de isolamento térmico, de modo a diminuir as trocas de calor entre o exterior e o interior de um edifício. O presente estudo tinha como objetivo a realização de uma análise económica, energética e ambiental da aplicação do isolamento térmico aos edifícios do continente europeu. Esta análise permitiu compreender a influência da aplicação de isolamento térmico na eficiência energética dos edifícios e assim perceber a influência desta medida nos custos energéticos, económicos e ambientais do ciclo de vida completo dos edifícios localizados no continente europeu. Adicionalmente, fez-se uma verificação de qual o material isolante térmico mais adequado. A análise foi efetuada segundo as perspetivas económica, energética e ambiental. Os custos do conforto térmico dependem da tipologia de uso do edifício e do tipo de clima. Assim, de forma a representar as tipologias do edificado europeu foram selecionados seis edifícios diferentes, sendo estes: um apartamento e uma moradia (edifícios residenciais), uma clínica (edifício de serviços com funcionamento permanente), uma escola e uma agência bancária (edifícios de serviços com funcionamento intermitente) e um supermercado (edifício de comércio com funcionamento intermitente. Para representar o clima do continente europeu foram selecionadas 5 localizações, em função do número de graus-dia de aquecimento e de arrefecimento, envolvendo assim 5 tipos de clima: Málaga (quente), Lisboa (moderado), Valladolid (frio), Varsóvia (muito frio), Reykjavik (extremamente frio). Recorreu-se à folha de cálculo CalProTerm para a obtenção das propriedades termofísicas das soluções construtivas opacas e ao software SEnergEd para a realização da simulação do comportamento energético, económico e ambiental do ciclo de vida dos edifícios. A versão do software SEnergEd disponibilizada não realizava a análise ambiental do ciclo de vida do edifício, pelo que foi necessário proceder à implementação desta vertente, munindo este software com os algoritmos necessários à realização do cálculo de impactos ambientais.Os resultados obtidos mostram, em termos muito genéricos, que a aplicação de isolamento térmico à envolvente opaca dos edifícios do continente europeu é mais benéfica em termos energéticos e em termos ambientais do que sob a perspetiva económica. Adicionalmente, a espessura ótima de isolamento térmico depende da tipologia de edifício, do tipo de clima e da perspetiva com que foi efetuada a análise (energética, ambiental ou económica). Thermal comfort is something increasingly valued by the human being, being fundamental for their productivity and well-being. However, ensuring thermal comfort conditions has energy, economic and environmental consequences. The Governing Bodies of the European Union consider that increasing the energy efficiency of buildings is extremely important, especially due to being one of the major energy consumers. Therefore, an effective method of reducing energy and economic costs and environmental impacts is to make buildings very energy efficient. The energy efficiency of a building is directly related to the quality of its constructive solutions. One way to improve the characteristics of constructive solutions is the use of thermal insulation, so as to decrease heat exchanges between the outside and the interior of a building.The present study aimed to carry out an economic, energy and environmental analysis of the application of thermal insulation to buildings on the European continent. This analysis made it possible to understand the influence of the application of thermal insulation on the energy efficiency of buildings and thus to understand the influence of this measure on the energy, economic and environmental costs of the complete life cycle of buildings located on the European continent. Additionally, a verification was made of which is the most suitable thermal insulating material. The analysis was carried out according to the economic, energy and environmental perspectives. Thermal comfort costs depend on the type of use of the building and the type of climate. Thus, to represent the typologies of European buildings, six different buildings were selected, namely: an apartment and a house (residential buildings), a clinic (service building with permanent operation), a school and a bank branch (buildings of services with intermittent operation) and a supermarket (commercial building with intermittent operation. To represent the climate of the European continent, 5 locations were selected, depending on the number of degree-days of heating and cooling, thus involving 5 types of climate: Malaga (hot), Lisbon (moderate), Valladolid (cold), Warsaw (very cold), Reykjavik (extremely cold).The CalProTerm spreadsheet was used to obtain the thermophysical properties of the opaque constructive solutions, the SEnergEd software was used to simulate the energy, economic and environmental behavior of the buildings' life cycle. The version of the SEnergEd software initially available did not carry out the environmental analysis of the building's life cycle, therefore it was necessary to implement this aspect, providing this software with the algorithms necessary to carry out the calculation of environmental impacts.The results obtained showed, in very general terms, that the application of thermal insulation to the opaque envelope of buildings on the European continent is more beneficial in energy and environmental terms than from an economic perspective. Additionally, the optimal thickness of thermal insulation depends on the type of building, the type of climate and the perspective from which the analysis was carried out (energy, environmental or economic).

    Climate change is bound to impact the water cycle and water availability, compounding the sustainable management of its quantity and quality. Groundwater is bound to suffer the impacts of climate change, coupled with those of land use changes, population and its lifestyles evolution. Climate change studies normaly have a 50 to 100 years horizon, which is a challenge for decision makers, who usually rely on relatively short therm data and projections to implement their management policies. BINGO Project tries to address this gap, by providing information of climate change impacts, including those of extreme events, on the water cycle for the short-tomedium term. Climate change impacts on groundwater rely on mathematical modeling, using recharge projections obtained from the climate forecasts of the Regional Climate Models set up for Europe. Sea level change is also a component of this analysis and its ensuing impacts of saltwater intrusion on the coastal and estuarine areas of Aluviões do Tejo and Bacia do Tejo-Sado/Margem Esquerda aquifers. 4p DHA/NRE

    O património cultural imaterial está relacionado com a criação cultural (saber-dizer e saber-fazer) de uma determinada comunidade. Ele é transmitido de geração em geração, especialmente, através da herança cultural e histórica. O turismo criativo tem, de certa forma, a sua base no património cultural imaterial. O presente artigo tem como objetivo principal descrever a atividade cultural criativa ‘bonecos de meia’ oferecida pelo projeto ‘Saidas de Mestre’ da MARCA-ADL (Associação Desenvolvimento Local). Para atingir o objetivo seguiu-se uma metodologia qualitativa baseada na observação não-participante. Os resultados mostraram que a atividade permite uma experência educativa memorável para os participantes.     O presente trabalho tem como âmbito identificar e descrever comportamentos, atitudes e ações no contexto da hotelaria enquanto medidas cooperativas para a sustentabilidade ambiental, retirando-se perspetivas do lado do cliente e do lado do gestor. A sustentabilidade é um tema que tem ganho uma relevância cada vez maior a nível nacional e mundial, a crescente preocupação com o estado do planeta proporciona uma reflexão maior sobre as ações humanas no quotidiano que, neste sentido, devem minimizar os impactos por meio de produtos, serviços, procedimentos e técnicas relacionadas com um desenvolvimento ambiental mais sustentável. Através da revisão de literatura foi possível identificar e caracterizar elementos importantes para formulação da questão de investigação, servindo como meio conceptual dos conceitos abordados ao longo desta dissertação e dando significado às questões abordadas. De forma a responder às questões de investigação, este estudo explorou por intermédio de questionários a opinião de 320 indivíduos sobre a sustentabilidade ambiental na indústria hoteleira. Simultaneamente investigou através de entrevistas ao corpo de administração de 2 hotéis, 2 grupos hoteleiros e 1 alojamento local as motivações e dificuldades para adotar medidas sustentáveis nas suas unidades. Com efeito, os resultados permitiram concluir que a sustentabilidade ambiental tem vindo a ganhar uma importância maior na vida dos inquiridos e acarreta também uma importância considerável para indústria hoteleira, não obstante entendeu-se que os inquiridos ainda consideram outras comodidades mais importantes na seleção de um hotel ou alojamento local em relação às medidas ambientais sustentáveis praticadas pela unidade, ao mesmo tempo, vii chega-se à conclusão que a gestão hoteleira tem atuado sobre a proteção ambiental dos seus estabelecimentos, mas que o modo como implementam medidas varia de acordo com as estratégia de mercado que estabelecem. The present work aims to identify and describe behaviors, attitudes and actions in the context of hospitality as cooperative measures for environmental sustainability in order to get perspectives from the client side and the manager side. Sustainability is a topic that has gained increasing relevance at national and global level, the growing concern with the state of the planet provides a greater reflection on human actions in daily life, which, in this sense, should minimize impacts through products, services, procedures and techniques related to more sustainable environmental development. Through the literature review, it was possible to identify and characterize important elements that helps formulating the research question, serving as a conceptual means of the concepts covered throughout this dissertation and giving meaning to the issues addressed. In order to answer the research questions, this study explored, through questionnaires, the opinion of 320 individuals about the environmental sustainability in the hotel industry. At the same time, through interviews with the board of directors of 2 hotels, 2 hotel groups and 1 local accommodation, it was investigated the motivations and difficulties about adopting sustainable measures in their units. In fact, the results allowed to conclude that environmental sustainability has been gaining a greater importance in the life of the respondents and also entails considerable importance for the hotel industry, although it was understood that the respondents still consider more important other facilities while selecting a hotel or local accommodation in relation to the sustainable environmental measures practiced by the unit, at the same time, it is concluded that the hotel management has been acted on the environmental protection of its x establishments, but the way they implement measures varies according to the strategies that they establish.

    Cada vez mais, os consumidores exigem empresas com negócios responsáveis e sustentáveis, estando os termos Responsabilidade Social Corporativa, Sustentabilidade e ESG na ordem do dia no mundo empresarial. Assiste-se por parte das empresas à sua incorporação, desenvolvendo estratégias de forma a integrar as preocupações mais atuais aos níveis sociais, ambientais e de governação nas suas atividades e operações. Para além das empresas puderem ajudar a mitigar estas preocupações, os investimentos nestas áreas podem trazer-lhes diversos benefícios. Este estudo pretende analisar qual a perceção dos consumidores sobre estes temas e a importância que têm para os mesmos, aplicando-se a um caso prático sobre a seguradora Fidelidade. Com base num inquérito preparado para este fim, cujas respostas eram anónimas, pretendeu-se medir a perceção atual que os consumidores têm sobre a Fidelidade e estudar as formas de aumentar a sua perceção a futuro. More and more, consumers demand companies with responsible and sustainable businesses, becoming terms such as Corporate Social Responsibility, Sustainability, and ESG a part of day by day of the recent enterprise world. Those are being incorporated by enterprises, which are developing strategies to integrate the most recent concerns at social, environmental and governance levels into their activities and operations. Beyond the fact of companies might be able to mitigate these concerns, investments in these areas can reward them with several benefits. This thesis aims to analyse the perception of consumers on these themes and its importance for them, applying it to a practical case about the insurance company Fidelidade. Based on a survey designed for this purpose, whose answers were anonymous, it was evaluated the current perception that consumers have about Fidelidade, as well as it was studied how to increase their perception in the future.

    Um nearly zero-energy building (nzeb) é um edifício que produz tanta ou mais energia quanto a que consome num ano típico. As medidas de eficiência assumem um papel de tal forma preponderante na redução das necessidades de consumo que, através da captação de energias renováveis, se torna possível alcançar um balanço de energia zero. Actualmente, a abordagem mais comum é usar a rede pública como fonte e dissipador dessa energia eléctrica. O conceito tem-se expandido de forma notória, dentro ou fora do território nacional, sendo hoje possível aprendermos os conceitos inerentes aos edifícios de energia zero a partir de importantes projectos, como é exemplo disso o edifício Solar XXI em Lisboa. Este documento procura abordar o tema de forma prática e acessível, do ponto de vista das preocupações da arquitectura. Para isso, contribui um caso de estudo que pretende compor uma lógica integradora de várias estratégias determinantes no comportamento térmico do edifício, com intenções de arquitetura contemporânea que se querem fiéis aos seus princípios. A nearly zero-energy building (nzeb) is a sort of building that produces as much or more energy than it consumes in an average year. The efficiency measures play an important role to reduce energy consumption such that the balance of energy needs can be supplied with renewable technologies in order to reach a zero energy result. Today’s approach is usually to use the public grid as a source and a way to dissipate this electric energy. This concept has been spreading in a notorious way in and outside our national territory. With this intention, it is possible today to learn the underlying concepts of the energy zero buildings through several projects, such as the Solar XXI building in Lisbon. This Document approaches this subject in a practical and accessible way, from the point of view of architecture concerns. Additionally it contributes with a case study that develops a set of several strategies that are determinant in the building’s thermal behaviour alongside with contemporary architecture intentions that are supposed to follow their own principles.

    This study aimed to identify potential sources of organic matter in sediment, using stable isotopes of carbon (delta13C) and nitrogen (delta15N). Sediment samples were gathered from the margin and in center of three subsystems: Ivinheima, Paraná and Baia, in August/2001. The samples were fractionated granulometrically and separated by size (< 200 µm; 70-200 µm; > 70 µm), prepared and sent to CENA / USP, for identifying the isotopes proportions. Significant differences were detected in the isotopic ratios of the sediment only between sampling stations. The Baía channel presented the lowest delta13C values, while the highest ones were recorded in Paraná river. At this last, delta15N values were negative (-14.41‰). We did not verify significant difference in isotopic composition between the particle sizes of sediment, and between the sampling points. The main sources of carbon for the sediment were C3 macrophytes, periphyton and particulate organic carbon (POC).

    Currently there is a growing concern about climate change resulting from increased CO2 emissions, leading to an increasing demand of buildings that are more sustainable and energy efficient. The AEC industry have been acquiring more demanding standards of sustainability and energy efficiency, requiring analysis processes to be more complex and integrated with each other. Therefore, it has become vital to implement BIM, enabling greater efficiency in the collaborative process between actors. Thus, the use of BIM can contribute to sustainability through forecasting energy consumption and their usage costs with credibility, reliability and consistency of results.     Apesar da importância da implementação de práticas sustentáveis estar devidamente comprovada e ser compreendida por grande parte da população, a ampla aplicação e implementação dos conceitos de construção sustentável ainda não é uma realidade. Diversos estudos têm sido realizados com o objetivo de compreender o porquê desta fraca aplicação tendo concluído que um dos principais fatores para tal é o facto de as práticas sustentáveis serem consideradas mais caras. Vários estudos provaram que muitas das medidas de sustentabilidade possuem custos inferiores às tradicionais numa perspetiva do ciclo de vida. Contudo, os profissionais do sector ainda não estão consciencializados deste facto e por isso não implementam medidas de construção sustentável. Neste artigo é apresentada uma metodologia de análise de custoͲbenefício de medidas de reabilitação sustentável, que pretende ultrapassar esta barreira e promover a implementação de práticas sustentáveis. The importance of implementing sustainable practices in buildings is duly proved and understood by the majority of the population. However, its implementation is not yet a reality. Some studies have been performed with the goal of understand this lack of use of sustainable solutions, among building sector stakeholders. The conclusion is that one of the main factors contributing to this is related with economic constraints. Several studies have proven that many sustainable practices correspond to minor costs than traditional practices in a life cycle perspective. However, the building sector stakeholders are not aware of this and do not implement sustainable practices commonly. In this paper a costâ benefit methodology willing to cross this barrier and promote the sustainable practices implementation is presented.

    O aparecimento de novas correntes de design como, por exemplo, o eco-design, o design social e inclusivo ou o slow design, são primordiais ao nível da gestão de recursos, da relação Homem - natureza, das deficiências e limitações humanas e da sustentabilidade do nosso planeta. O presente estudo explora as perspectivas do papel do design no artesanato. Numa abordagem teórica examina conceitos como: design, o papel do designer, as novas correntes de design e o design para a sustentabilidade. O trabalho prático incide na análise de entrevistas efectuadas a estilistas e artesãos no sentido de perceber a viabilidade de um trabalho conjunto. Os resultados preliminares confirmam que as ideias do design sustentável são perfeitamente adequadas a um contexto de artesanato têxtil como se demonstra nas expressões recolhidas como: emoções, tempo, valorização e fazer à mão. The appearance of new currents of design, for example, eco-design, social and inclusive design or slow design, are essentials for the management of resources, the relationship man - nature, human weaknesses and limitations and for the sustainability of our planet. This study explores the perspectives and the role of design in the handcraft. In a theoretical approach, it examines concepts such as design, the designer's role, the new currents of design and design for sustainability. The practical work focuses on analysis of interviews with designers and craftsmen in order to realize the feasibility of a joint work. Preliminary results confirm that the ideas of sustainable design are perfectly suited to a context of textile crafts as demonstrated in the expressions collected as emotions, time, value enhancement and hand made.     Dissertação de Mestrado Integrado em Engenharia Mecânica apresentada à Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia O conforto térmico é algo cada vez mais valorizado pelo ser humano, sendo fundamental para a sua produtividade e o seu bem-estar. Porém, assegurar condições de conforto térmico tem consequências energéticas, económicas e ambientais. Os órgãos de governo da União Europeia consideram que o aumento da eficiência energética dos edifícios é algo de extrema importância, devido a estes serem grandes consumidores de energia. Logo, um método eficaz de reduzir custos energéticos e económicos e impactos ambientais passa por tornar os edifícios muito eficientes energeticamente. A eficiência energética de um edifício está diretamente relacionada com a qualidade das suas soluções construtivas. Uma forma de melhorar as características das soluções construtivas é o uso de isolamento térmico, de modo a diminuir as trocas de calor entre o exterior e o interior de um edifício. O presente estudo tinha como objetivo a realização de uma análise económica, energética e ambiental da aplicação do isolamento térmico aos edifícios do continente europeu. Esta análise permitiu compreender a influência da aplicação de isolamento térmico na eficiência energética dos edifícios e assim perceber a influência desta medida nos custos energéticos, económicos e ambientais do ciclo de vida completo dos edifícios localizados no continente europeu. Adicionalmente, fez-se uma verificação de qual o material isolante térmico mais adequado. A análise foi efetuada segundo as perspetivas económica, energética e ambiental. Os custos do conforto térmico dependem da tipologia de uso do edifício e do tipo de clima. Assim, de forma a representar as tipologias do edificado europeu foram selecionados seis edifícios diferentes, sendo estes: um apartamento e uma moradia (edifícios residenciais), uma clínica (edifício de serviços com funcionamento permanente), uma escola e uma agência bancária (edifícios de serviços com funcionamento intermitente) e um supermercado (edifício de comércio com funcionamento intermitente. Para representar o clima do continente europeu foram selecionadas 5 localizações, em função do número de graus-dia de aquecimento e de arrefecimento, envolvendo assim 5 tipos de clima: Málaga (quente), Lisboa (moderado), Valladolid (frio), Varsóvia (muito frio), Reykjavik (extremamente frio). Recorreu-se à folha de cálculo CalProTerm para a obtenção das propriedades termofísicas das soluções construtivas opacas e ao software SEnergEd para a realização da simulação do comportamento energético, económico e ambiental do ciclo de vida dos edifícios. A versão do software SEnergEd disponibilizada não realizava a análise ambiental do ciclo de vida do edifício, pelo que foi necessário proceder à implementação desta vertente, munindo este software com os algoritmos necessários à realização do cálculo de impactos ambientais.Os resultados obtidos mostram, em termos muito genéricos, que a aplicação de isolamento térmico à envolvente opaca dos edifícios do continente europeu é mais benéfica em termos energéticos e em termos ambientais do que sob a perspetiva económica. Adicionalmente, a espessura ótima de isolamento térmico depende da tipologia de edifício, do tipo de clima e da perspetiva com que foi efetuada a análise (energética, ambiental ou económica). Thermal comfort is something increasingly valued by the human being, being fundamental for their productivity and well-being. However, ensuring thermal comfort conditions has energy, economic and environmental consequences. The Governing Bodies of the European Union consider that increasing the energy efficiency of buildings is extremely important, especially due to being one of the major energy consumers. Therefore, an effective method of reducing energy and economic costs and environmental impacts is to make buildings very energy efficient. The energy efficiency of a building is directly related to the quality of its constructive solutions. One way to improve the characteristics of constructive solutions is the use of thermal insulation, so as to decrease heat exchanges between the outside and the interior of a building.The present study aimed to carry out an economic, energy and environmental analysis of the application of thermal insulation to buildings on the European continent. This analysis made it possible to understand the influence of the application of thermal insulation on the energy efficiency of buildings and thus to understand the influence of this measure on the energy, economic and environmental costs of the complete life cycle of buildings located on the European continent. Additionally, a verification was made of which is the most suitable thermal insulating material. The analysis was carried out according to the economic, energy and environmental perspectives. Thermal comfort costs depend on the type of use of the building and the type of climate. Thus, to represent the typologies of European buildings, six different buildings were selected, namely: an apartment and a house (residential buildings), a clinic (service building with permanent operation), a school and a bank branch (buildings of services with intermittent operation) and a supermarket (commercial building with intermittent operation. To represent the climate of the European continent, 5 locations were selected, depending on the number of degree-days of heating and cooling, thus involving 5 types of climate: Malaga (hot), Lisbon (moderate), Valladolid (cold), Warsaw (very cold), Reykjavik (extremely cold).The CalProTerm spreadsheet was used to obtain the thermophysical properties of the opaque constructive solutions, the SEnergEd software was used to simulate the energy, economic and environmental behavior of the buildings' life cycle. The version of the SEnergEd software initially available did not carry out the environmental analysis of the building's life cycle, therefore it was necessary to implement this aspect, providing this software with the algorithms necessary to carry out the calculation of environmental impacts.The results obtained showed, in very general terms, that the application of thermal insulation to the opaque envelope of buildings on the European continent is more beneficial in energy and environmental terms than from an economic perspective. Additionally, the optimal thickness of thermal insulation depends on the type of building, the type of climate and the perspective from which the analysis was carried out (energy, environmental or economic).

    Climate change is bound to impact the water cycle and water availability, compounding the sustainable management of its quantity and quality. Groundwater is bound to suffer the impacts of climate change, coupled with those of land use changes, population and its lifestyles evolution. Climate change studies normaly have a 50 to 100 years horizon, which is a challenge for decision makers, who usually rely on relatively short therm data and projections to implement their management policies. BINGO Project tries to address this gap, by providing information of climate change impacts, including those of extreme events, on the water cycle for the short-tomedium term. Climate change impacts on groundwater rely on mathematical modeling, using recharge projections obtained from the climate forecasts of the Regional Climate Models set up for Europe. Sea level change is also a component of this analysis and its ensuing impacts of saltwater intrusion on the coastal and estuarine areas of Aluviões do Tejo and Bacia do Tejo-Sado/Margem Esquerda aquifers. 4p DHA/NRE
