    Authors: SOM Institute, University Of Gothenburg;

    Detta är den fjärde undersökningen i serien Riks-SOM, en nationell frågeundersökning med syfte att kartlägga den svenska allmänhetens vanor och attityder på temat samhälle, opinioner och medier. 1989 års undersökning består av sju sammanhållna delar: massmedier; politik och samhälle; energi, kärnkraft och miljö; Sveriges förhållande till omvärlden; boende, kommunala förhållanden och fritid; radiolyssnande samt bakgrundsuppgifter. Genom att frågor ställts på ett likartat sätt över tid finns det i SOM-serien tidsserier om bland annat medieanvändning, politik, kärnkraftsopinion och förtroende för olika samhällsinstitutioner och grupper. Många frågor har ställts i en eller flera tidigare SOM-undersökningar, men i Riks-SOM 1989 finns även ett antal frågeställningar som ej använts i tidigare undersökningar. Bland annat fick respondenterna bedöma olika risker för svenska folkets liv och hälsa. Nya frågeställningar berörde även Sveriges förhållande till EG och vad ett eventuellt svenskt medlemskap skulle innebära för miljön, arbetsmarknaden, sociala tryggheten, den ekonomiska utvecklingen samt tilltron till svensk neutralitet. Respondenterna fick också ange hur nöjd man var med den kommunala servicen inom ett tiotal verksamhetsområden. Andra nya frågor berörde radiolyssnande, hur ofta och när man lyssnar på olika radiokanaler samt olika anledningar att lyssna på lokal- respektive närradio. Syfte: Huvudsyftet är att etablera tidsserier som gör det möjligt att analysera hur olika samhällsförändringar påverkar människors attityder och beteenden. This dataset contains information from the fourth SOM-survey. The questionnaire was divided into seven subject fields: mass media; politics and society; energy, nuclear power and environment; Sweden's relation to other countries; residential environment, local conditions and leisure; radio listening; and background. Many of the questions are replications of questions asked in previous SOM-surveys, but there is also a number of questions not asked in previous surveys. The respondents had to give their opinion on how seriously a number of risks threaten life and health of the Swedish people. There are a number of questions concerning the European Community: the respondent´s opinion on mass media coverage of the EC-issue; the opinion on a Swedish membership´s influence on the environment, labour market, social security, economic development and the Swedish neutrality; and the attitude of the political parties toward a Swedish approach to the EC. The respondents had to indicate how satisfied they were with the local authority services in a number of areas. Other questions dealt with radio listening, how often and when the respondent listened to different radio channels. Furthermore the respondent had to compare regional and local radio. Purpose: The main purpose is to establish time series that enable researchers to analyse how various changes in society affect people's attitudes and behaviour.

    Authors: SOM Institute, University Of Gothenburg;

    Since 1986 the research project ´Samhälle Opinion Massmedia´ (SOM) has been carrying out an annual nation-wide survey of Swedish opinions. This is accordingly the eleventh survey in this series. The questionnaire was divided into six subject fields: mass media; politics and society; Sweden´s relations to the rest of the world; energy, nuclear power and environment; leisure; and background. Most of the questions are replications of questions asked in one or several previous SOM-surveys. New media questions dealt with how often the respondent read local advertisement papers as well as daily papers on the internet. The respondent also had to state if a number of statements corresponded with qualities held by the morning and evening papers the respondent used to read, and to indicate if criticism directed towards daily papers could be applied on papers read by the respondent. Respondents were also asked about their opinion on the function of democracy in Sweden, attitudes towards proposals how to reduce unemployment, and to give their opinion on the possibility to reduce unemployment by 50 percent until year 2000. Furthermore the respondents had to rank the most important and second most important goals for Sweden to work towards during the coming ten years. Respondents were also asked if they could consider to undertake political assignments for the political party they sympathize with. Other questions dealt with qualities possessed by three different political parties and their party leaders as well as by three different mass media; attitudes towards referendum held in certain issues as well as general attitudes toward referenda; and different group´s influence on programs supplied by the non commercial television channels as well as the commercial channel TV4. Respondents had to state if they believed one in general can trust most people, they also had to tell how satisfied they were with their own life, and to tell their knowledge of foreign languages. Purpose: The main purpose of the surveys is to establish time series that enable researchers to analyse how various changes in society affect people's attitudes and behaviour. Detta är den elfte undersökningen i serien Riks-SOM, en nationell frågeundersökning med syfte att kartlägga den svenska allmänhetens vanor och attityder på temat samhälle, opinioner och medier. 1996 års undersökning består av sex sammanhållna delar: massmedier; politik och samhälle; Sveriges förhållande till omvärlden; energi, kärnkraft och miljö; fritid; samt bakgrundsfrågor. Genom att frågor ställts på ett likartat sätt över tid finns det i SOM-serien tidsserier om bland annat medieanvändning, politik, kärnkraftsopinion och förtroende för olika samhällsinstitutioner och grupper. Nya mediefrågor behandlar bland annat läsning av lokala annonsblad och tidningsläsning på internet; egenskaper hos de morgon- och kvällstidningar som respondenten läser och huruvida den kritik som riktats mot morgon- och kvällspress är tillämpbar på de tidningar respondenten brukar läsa. Andra nya frågeställningar berörde åsikten om hur demokratin fungerar i Sverige; åsikter om hur arbetslösheten kan minskas; och inställning till möjligheten att halvera arbetslösheten till år 2000. Därutöver fick respondenten ranka vilka mål som Sverige bör arbeta mot de kommande tio åren: upprätthålla lag och ordning; ge enskilda människor större möjlighet att påverka politiska beslut; bekämpa prisstegringarna; eller skydda yttrandefriheten. Andra frågor berörde respondentens benägenhet att åta sig politiska uppdrag; egenskaper hos tre olika partier och dess partiledare samt hos tre olika medier; åsikter om folkomröstningar i olika specifika frågor samt om folkomröstningar mera allmänt; olika gruppers inflytande på vilka program som sänds i Sveriges Television respektive TV4; samt respondentens språkkunskaper. Därutöver fick respondenten ange om man i allmänhet kan lita på de flesta människor eller om man bör vara försiktig i kontakten med andra och hur nöjd man på det hela taget är med det liv man lever. Syfte: Huvudsyftet är att etablera tidsserier som gör det möjligt att analysera hur olika samhällsförändringar påverkar människors attityder och beteenden.

    Authors: Boalt, Gunnar; Ekman, Gunnar; Hultgren, Sten; Stiftelsen För Opinionsanalyser;

    This is the first survey in a collection of studies on Swedish opinion conducted during the period 1979-1985. While the purpose has been to collect rather detailed information on the public opinion, the questionnaires have been very extensive and the number of variables in each survey amount to 500 or more. A core of questions asked annually makes it possible to study changes in opinion over time. Swedish opinion 1979 included questions on: the importance of a number of changes in one´s own personal conditions and the opinion on the ability of a number of institutions, individuals and political authorities to achieve something that the respondent benefits from; the importance of a number of issues and the opinion on the ability of a number of organizations and political authorities to achieve something in these issues; opinion on the influence a number of organizations and groups have in society; the respondent´s own well being at present; work and working conditions; political party with best ideas to achieve improvements in a number of fields; personal responsibilities. The respondents had to indicate if they agreed or disagreed with a number of statements concerning politics and also to indicate political parties standing for that opinion. Other questions dealt with the politicians and the society; vote in 1976 and voting intention at a hypothetical election the same day; important factors when deciding how to vote; wage-earner´s investment funds; nuclear power; action groups´ possibilities to achieve something; nationalization of private companies; opinion on the way insurance companies, banks and publishing companies manage their affairs; opinion on a number of issues concerning work, income, influence at the work place and other social conditions; influences on the respondent´s political standpoint; sources of information; political standpoint at home, in school and among friends; share holding and reasons for holding shares; union membership; things important for being satisfied with work and work place; bank saving; attitude toward work and work place; membership; shop-hours; reading frequencies for a number of daily papers, weeklies and magazines; political opinion of daily papers read; membership in book clubs. Background variables include information on gender, age, region, marital status, occupation, income and education. Därutöver fick respondenten ranka vilka mål som Sverige bör arbeta mot de kommande tio åren: upprätthålla lag och ordning; ge enskilda människor större möjlighet att påverka politiska beslut; bekämpa prisstegringarna; eller skydda yttrandefriheten. Andra frågor berörde respondentens benägenhet att åta sig politiska uppdrag; egenskaper hos tre olika partier och dess partiledare samt hos tre olika medier; åsikter om folkomröstningar i olika specifika frågor samt om folkomröstningar mera allmänt; olika gruppers inflytande på vilka program som sänds i Sveriges Television respektive TV4; samt respondentens språkkunskaper. Därutöver fick respondenten ange om man i allmänhet kan lita på de flesta människor eller om man bör vara försiktig i kontakten med andra och hur nöjd man på det hela taget är med det liv man lever. Syfte: Huvudsyftet är att etablera tidsserier som gör det möjligt att analysera hur olika samhällsförändringar påverkar människors attityder och beteenden.
