// Electricity generation in Venezuela is dominated by fossil fuels and large-scale hydroelectric plants, predominating over other energy sources. The objective of this research is to determine the solar photovoltaic and wind potential and to propose scenarios of hybrid electric energy systems for Toas Island, Zulia State. In the first part, a documentary research on this potential was carried out, then with data obtained from solar irradiation and wind speed, through Global Solar, NASA Power and the use of the Homer application, a feasible project of a micro grid applied to Toas Island, Almirante Padilla Municipality, Zulia State, was presented. Thus demonstrating that the photovoltaic, wind, battery and interconnection scenario is the best applicable option, with a levelized cost of electricity of 0.3 $/kWh, offering greater reliability and availability, with the possibility of transmitting surpluses to the electric grid.

AMADEUS is a H2020 project that researches on materials and solid-state devices for very high temperature energy storage and conversion. By exploring silicon-based alloys as new phase change materials (PCMs), latent heat higher than 1000 kWh/m3 is achievable, which implies a very high energy density. In addition, silicon-based PCMs lead to storage temperatures well beyond 1000 ºC, well beyond that of current state-of-the-art thermal energy storage (TES). This paper describes the project R&D activities and first results, and comments on challenges towards a new kind of systems combining latent heat energy storage in molten silicon with thermionic and thermophotovoltaic solid state heat-to-power conversion.

In this issue we address the practice of rainwater harvesting in different settings, presenting experiences from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, and Paraguay. Some of the papers were originally presented at the IX International Meeting of the WATERLAT-GOBACIT Network“Water, Rights, and Utopias: priorities in the process of democratization of water politics“, João Pessoa, Paraiba, Brazil, 3-7 September 2018. Article 1 was authored by David Sauri, from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain, co-editor of this issue. The article provides an overall introduction to the topic of rainwater harvesting. Article 2, by Martin Sanzana Calvet, Institute of Strategic Studies for Human Development (INEDH), Concepción, Bio-Bio, Chile, addresses the practice of fog catching in arid and semi arid regions of Chile. In Article 3, Daniel Tagle-Zamora, University of Guanajuato, Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico, presents findings from research on the implementation of public policies oriented at the provision of rainwater catchment technologies, mostly for domestic use ,in several municipalities of the semi arid State of Guanajuato, Mexico. Article 4 was co-authored by Roberto de Sousa Miranda, Federal University of the interior of Pernambuco and Federal University of Campina Grande, Paraiba, Brazil, and Laiany Tassila Ferreira, Federal Rural University of Pernambuco, Brazil. The article discusses the implementation of a national plan to provide rainwater cisterns in the semi arid region of North eastern Brazil, with emphasis on the experience of the State of Paraiba. Finally, Article 5, by Ana Maria Attias Sole and Ricardo Lombardo Lopez, from the North-eastern National University, Resistencia, Chaco, Argentina, provides an overview of the historic legacy of water practices and technologies inherited fromthe“syncretism”between indigenous communities (Tupi-Guarani), and the Jesuit territorial expansion that took place between the early seventeenth and the mid eighteenth centuries in a large region of South America encompassing parts of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. The article focuses mainly on examples from Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay, and provides insights into the significance of historical-cultural research in the production of knowledge about rainwater technologies and the associated culture and practices, which also contributes to our network’s Thematic Area 7, Water-related Art, Communication, Culture, and Education.

The Draft Framework Law on Climate Change establishes the necessary procedures to elaborate Chile's Long Term Climate Strategy (LTCS). Article 5 states that the LTCS must include a prior report by the Scientific Advisory Committee on Climate Change. In this context, the Committee prepares this report to be submitted to the Chilean Ministry of Environment to be used as an input in the elaboration of the LTCS. The Committee members took over one or more chapters for review and comment, according to their experience and expertise.

The industrialisation and modern technification of our society has favoured the genesis of global problems. Physical Education Didactics is facing serious problems of sustainability. There are increasingly strong tendencies that preach a Physical Education that makes motor behaviour sustainable, favouring learning, procedures, evaluations, materials and resources that facilitate sustainable behaviour and a balanced and healthy life. We present a systematic review of educational experiences in sustainable physical activity programmes. Aim: To obtain scientific evidence on sustainable physical education didactics for children and adolescents during the present decade, to compare studies that relate physical education to sustainable practices and to determine research efforts to develop sustainable physical education patterns in schoolchildren and adolescents. Methods: The search descriptors used were: physical activity, childhood, youth, environment and sustainability. Records were limited to those published in English, French and Spanish between January 2010 and December 2020. 11 studies fulfilled the review requirements: 5 considered sustainability in relation to healthy habits, 4 studied sustainable Physical Education programmes and 2 assessed nature protection activities. Results & discussion: with the selected articles we appreciate that it is necessary to develop a new didactics together with a new sustainable physical education, but also a sustainable sport eminently respectful with the person, with their limits, that does not take unnecessary risks and that carries out daily practices with the aim of restoring the damage caused, of care, of rest, so that the athlete, who demands so much and so much from their body, learns to look after it and give it everything it needs to be able to live in a peaceful, happy and healthy way. Conclusions: In the last decade there are not enough studies on sustainability of physical activity in youth and childhood. There is a lack of studies on responsible, tolerant physical activity and on the role of women in youth and childhood. Currently 84\% of the world's energy matrix comes from the burning of fossil fuels, production system that cause social and environmental problems in the vulnerable regions. The situation has forced a rethinking of the global energy model, pointing to renewable sources as the ideal substitute for the current production system. Bioenergy contributes to the diversification of the energy matrix without increasing the emissions that accelerate climate change. It is obtained from materials derived from biological sources, such as crop residues of agricultural processes. These materials contain an important calorific value that can be used for the generation of electrical energy and/or the production of biofuel. Through the patentometric study for the period 2013 -- 2018, the technological trend was determined in the inventions related to biodiésel, bioethanol and biogas, in order to obtain a global panorama of bioenergy; generating productivity indicators according to year, country, institution and International Patent Classification (IPC) codes. China is identified as a leader in technological innovations in biodiésel and biogas. While the United States leads the patent registry in the production of bioethanol.

[Climate change and dermatological diseases: what can we do?] Editorial: Giving a higher level of health information to people will ensure that society, and our reference population, acquires an adequate perception of risk on the problem of climate change, which would lead to each individual adopting healthy behaviors such as following correct habits of skin protection and hydration, acquiring a responsible attitude towards the prevention of environmental contamination of their local environment (work and home); all of it in order to avoid unnecessary dermatological risks (skin infections, allergies ...). Also, we need greater awareness of citizens, authorities, politicians and health professionals to develop climate change adaptation and mitigation measures, This fact necessarily involves promoting research in this field and implementing the good practices that arise.

The pandemic has exposed the ontological vulnerability shared by all human beings, but also the way in which socioeconomic inequalities affect the inequitable distribution of specific or situational vulnerabilities. On the other hand, it has also brought to the fore the profound interdependence we share among all people, which also extends to non-human agents and the environment. This article presents a general analysis of vulnerability in the context of COVID-19, proposing, in particular, that it is an appropriate category for analyzing the essential interdependence of human beings with their fellow human beings, with other living beings and with the environment.
