It will do so by advancing existing, mature public transport-oriented, user-centric applications leveraging digital technologies, and piloting them to mature, market-ready TRL7-9 solutions. An “Operating System” for Public Transport Operators will be developed building on an already existing Demand Responsive Transit platform, enabling new modules for managing public transport operations, including Artificial Intelligence to enhance existing algorithms to match demand and offer. APIs and webhooks will power different kinds of integrations. These include an information layer for travelers and city stakeholders on air quality using Copernicus data. Curated information and KPIs will be disseminated to the public transport industry through the "Global Observatory of EU Space Data & Services in Public Transport", and selected data sets will be shared in a decentralised way following the EU Data Spaces reference architecture. As a result of JULIA, SMEs participating in the project are expected to raise their Return on Investment (ROI) by more than 20% by 2028, while +200.000 vehicles will potentially be equipped with Galileo advanced features beyond the project. Outreach of the project results toward the global public transport industry will be maximised through a bold dissemination strategy led by ERTICO and POLIS.

This is hindered by inconvenient mobility infrastructure, inadequate services and insufficient governance for short-distance travel, negatively impacting active modes’ safety and security. REALLOCATE’s main objective is to pave the way towards climate-neutral, safe, inclusive and smart European cities through integrated and innovative sustainable urban mobility solutions that will address the needs of diverse groups and communities, while rebalancing street space allocation. The project will empower 10 twinned Mission Cities (Gothenburg-Tampere, Heidelberg-Utrecht, Lyon-Warsaw, Budapest-Zagreb, Barcelona-Bologna) by providing horizontal thematic expertise, supporting them to build a local innovation ecosystem to develop and deploy zero-emission, shared, inclusive, active and human-centred mobility interventions. Pilots in 15 urban and peri-urban unsafe areas will demonstrate innovative urban space management and reallocation strategies for sustainable modes (with a specific focus on active modes), having in mind safety, inclusivity, affordability and a just transition to climate neutrality overall. Solutions include innovative urban design, behavioural nudging, smart technological and data-driven solutions to reduce actual and perceived road safety risks, all contributing to achieving climate neutrality by 2030. The pilots will be the learning and testing environments for integrated approaches to foster knowledge transfer and collaborative learning to staff in cities through mentoring and capacity building, knowledge exchange, twinning and work shadowing. The project’s impact will be exponentially increased by engaging 10 Cascade Cities in capacity building activities, and providing them with replication packages and guidelines resulting in implementation plans for replicating at least one of the innovative solutions piloted.

The eBRT2030 project is developed through three main lines: 1) The development of technology-focused key innovative solutions for BRT, both at system and subsystem level, at level of vehicle, infrastructure, operation, and IoT connectivity 2) 7 demos of BRT system innovative solutions in real-operation, both city-&operator-led and BRT system-focused, or focused on specific technology innovation at subsystem level that are ready for BRT operations, in Europe and outside Europe (in Latin America and East-Africa), and fully integrated in the whole urban mobility scenario 3) the definition a new European concept of Bus Rapid Transit for year 2030, benefitting of evaluation, multiplication and replication of the real-operation test of innovations, that improve the performance of the whole European urban bus system. All cities in eBRT2030 have BRT lines already in operation or launched within 2023, and strongly committed to innovate with electrification, automation, connectivity technology tailored to the characteristics of European bus operations.
