The type of project is Erasmus Learning mobility for students and staff. The objectives are following: To motivate students and staff to become mobile. To encourage Reykjavik University to create links and enrich the cooperation with other Universities within Europe. To allow students to make the most of their University studies and broaden their minds by going abroad on exchange or internship for one or two semesters. To promote the exchange/internship of expertise and experience on pedagogical methods. The number of students using the grant was 53 and most and the distribution between academic departments was rather even. There is an increase in internships abroad. The number of staff and teacher exchange was 42 thereof 12 teachers. We believe that the benefits for the students are that they come out more mature as individuals with a good ability to work and communicate in a transnational environment as well as developing a stronger and broader network within Europe and worldwide. The benefits for teachers and staff are that they are more open to new ideas, they become more innovative and ready to develop new ideas in teaching and administration. Focused international partnerships provide access to know-how and experience to share as well as active collaboration on education and innovation. Consequently, mobility broadens the capabilities of the university.

The project was created to develop cooperation with institutions within three different countries, China, New-Zealand and Indonesia. China: The aim was to built up a tradition in student and staff exchange between two Chinese universities, Tianjin University and China University of Geoscience through dual degree agreements already signed. The cooperation with Tianjin University in China is built on a dual degree agreement signed in 2014. Two students pursuit their studies during one academic year at Reykjavík University within the frame of the project. The aim was to give the Chinese students the opportunity to be introduced to the concept of Icelandic specialization in Geothermal engineering studies. It hopefully provides the students with the professional skills to prepare them to compete in job markets globally. The project has help us to continue to develop our already existing partnership. The tradition of student exchange is already here and we foresee further exchanges in the light of how successful these exchanges were and we already have a demand for fore cooperation. Regarding the China University of Geoscience there have not been any exchange so far but we foresee to bring to live the agreement since we have good experience with Tianjin. The second project with China was successful as well. The exchange between RU and the Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) in the field of Computer Science was productive and very positive. The two institutions have developed closer ties thanks to the staff exchanges, and are now in a position to stipulate formal agreements for exchanges of faculty and students, and to carry out joint research on themes of common interest.New Zealand: The director of Icleand School of Energy went to University of Auckland in New Zealand. From an academic perspective the trip to New Zealand was planned to a) assist a Reykjavik University Master student to settle in for a four month period studying at the University of Auckland, and b) plan for senior geothermal reservoir engineers at the University of Auckland to teach a class in geothermal reservoir simulation at Reykjavik University. the rest of the time at the University of Auckland the director spent catching up on the latest developments in geothermal reservoir modeling. In this period she also liaised with the senior members of the group to organize the Master-level course in geothermal reservoir modeling in May 2018. It was not possible to grant the student for his stay whereas the allocation was for staff mobility for 9 days. Indonesia:This project could not be realized. The reason for that can be traced to changes of director of the Iceland School of Energy that resulted in a lack of resources to pursue the mobility within the time frame of the project. However, the cooperation with the University of Gadjah Mada is active whereas Reykjavík University has sent a student to Indonesia on exchange but not within the project period of this project.
