FastTrack presents a suite of interlinking methods that provide local authorities with opportunities to learn from the best, capturing and presenting the experiences of those who have successfully accelerated transition. FastTrack’s twin-track core learning programme includes five separate FastTrack Capacity Building Weeks over 24 months: 1. Deep learning and exchange within the consortium, across four topic-based clusters guided by interests expressed by our 24 authorities. Each event will be led by an Ambassador (from Antwerp, Bologna, Budapest or Stockholm), supported by technical partners (WP2) 2. Meet the FastTrackers events, where 24 authorities will be introduced to skills and learning on cross-cutting topics (such as data, funding and governance) and will develop innovations with insights and inputs from external stakeholders recruited through a FastTrack database (including innovation networks, projects, funders, and end-users) (WP3) This programme will be informed by a rapid, intense review of innovation and exchange practices (WP1). An internal, competitive programme will fund small-scale “springboard studies”, rewarding outstanding innovation ideas with the most widespread internal interest and greatest potential for applicability and replicability across the EU. In culmination, programme pillars will be gathered in a performance management activity to oversee 24 deployment plans, as authorities rapidly refine, focus and develop innovations (WP4). Exploitable recommendations for process, and new solutions, technologies and approaches, will be supported by a further outreach phase, giving extra opportunity for on-the-ground deployment to be reflected in FastTrack’s final recommendations and results.

Outdoor illumination, artificial sky glow, domestic lighting, light-emitting screens, etc. entrain circadian clock. Despite scientific evidence on the pathogenic role of circadian rhythms disruption in predisposing to NCDs, affecting sleep, metabolism, immune function and many aspects of behavior and mood, EU cities are mostly focusing on improving lighting services’ efficiency, reducing costs and emissions, but failing to consider lighting impacts on health and wellbeing. Through an open-online Urban Lighting and Health Atlas, ENLIGHTENme will collect and systematize existing data and good practices on urban lighting and will perform an accurate study on the correlations among health, wellbeing, lighting and socio-economic factors in 3 pilot cities -Amsterdam, Bologna and Tartu, where a target district will be selected due to its exposure to artificial light and to reflect social inequalities. Through the establishment of Lighting Urban Labs within the district, citizens and stakeholders will co-create innovative Lighting Urban Plans measures and define the implementation of a smart outdoor lighting system and indoor lighting changes in a pilot area within the district. There, a population-based study on elderly – addressed as a vulnerable group particularly prone to suffer circadian misalignment – will allow to assess lighting-dependent risks on mental and health conditions and surveys involving the overall district population and users will allow assess the impacts of urban lighting on quality of life and wellbeing. The results will allow to develop a dedicated Decision Support System and guidelines and recommendation on the impact of lighting on health and wellbeing, proposing innovative lighting policies, measures, technologies and interventions aiming at improving citizens’ health and wellbeing in cities. ENLIGHTENme is a part of the European Cluster on Urban Health.

Since the year 2000 Hansa Berufskolleg Unna has offered European internships supported by the European Union. In 2011 our school received the award of 'School of Europe' by the government of North Rhine Westphalia. The overall idea of Europe has been implemented in our school's programme. In 2016 we were repeatedly awarded, which gives proof of our longstanding educational work with regard to Europe. In Novemer 2018 we achieved the certificate of 'International Mobility' by the County Administration of Arnsberg for having sent 10% of all trainees abroad (see newspaper article attached).Number/Profile of participants/description of activities:58 participants could successfully fulfill work placements in Ireland, England, Belgium, Poland, Turkey and Spain. Among this group, 15 trainees of industry served a three-month-lasting part of their traineeship in Cork, Ireland. We are very proud to learn that the majority of these Trainees voluntarily faced the additional exam as foreign language correspondent in English at the Chamber of commerce in Dortmund. Apart from trainees in industry, a large number of new apprentices from wholesale, IT and Office Management could be won in 2018. Their sending companies (KIK, Woolworth, OTC Pharma,...) are actively represented on the European market and highly value the expansion of intercultural and business experience.DHL is an important local partner with reference to vocational trainings and offers a huge number of trainees in logistics and warehousing the possibility of going abroad with ERASMUS. Especially with regard to organising the final EUROPASS ceremonies, DHL has often served as host and which has strengthened the links between our school and local businesses. The professional background of our participants was not only limited to business, but extended on to trainees of the Health Service that carried out work placements in a Turkish hospital in Manavgat. Especially the German patients are very relieved to have German speaking staff, who gained unique medical and administrative experience. For all mobilities it is of utmost importance to offer work placements whose challenges clearly refer to the daily activities required in the German training companies. IT-trainees mainly faced tasks in EDP, whereas trainees of the wholesale and office management dealt with business-related activities. This is done to ensure that our young people can transfer and expand their professional knowledge. Thanks to the longstanding relationships to our European partners as well as tight agreements within our Europe team staff, the large majority of participants were more than satisfied. Results and effects:As in the years before, the stays abroad immensely broadened the intercultural, professional and personal horizons of our trainees. The new partner in Logrono/Spain was evaluated very positively by our two participants - one of them, a trainee of logistics successfully finished his traineeship and has lately started his new job at his Spanish host company in July 2019!The students that went to England reported how fast they could brush up their English being accommodated in host families. The trainees of Belgium and Poland were again strongly impressed by the different types of food and the hearty welcome. We were quite proud that our Belgish Twin School also sent 4 trainees to Unna to carry out work placements financed by ERASMUS. Longterm effects:The links between the local and European companies, our County Unna and our school could be hugely strengthened. Furthermore the networking activities between local Europe Schools has largely increased (see attached newspaper article on Network cooperation).

SPINE adopts an equity centred design thinking approach, leading the transition to a more efficient, sustainable, resilient, and inclusive PT system. A network of collaborative LLs is developed to foster transferability, while an intersectional view of the transport system users is applied. Four Lead City LLs in Antwerp, Bologna, Tallin and Las Palmas will be established, and a series of co-creation activities will take place where multiple stakeholders will be actively engaged in the development and demonstration of efficient, replicable, and socially acceptable innovative mobility solutions, advancing existing assets. The SPINE approach involves the creation of (a) innovative simulation and Digital Twining (DT) tools, along with open data and behavioural models, that will allow the building of scenarios combining different mobility interventions (push and pull measures along with supporting policies) and the implementation of the most promising ones; (b) data-driven impact assessment models that will foster the twinning, transferability and adaptation of the successful solutions of the four LLs in seven Twining Cities - Barreiro, Valladolid, Zilina, Sibenik, Hrakleion, Gdynia and Rouen-. SPIRE sets a high ambitious plan for the co-design and implementation of 55 smart greens inclusive mobility solutions. The SPINE consortium brings together a multidisciplinary team of 39 partners from 16 countries. The unique mix of experienced transport engineers, Public transport Operators, computer scientists, data analysts, transport modelers, social scientists, urban planners, policy analysts, software providers, within our consortium assures the comprehensive approach to the challenges, scope, expected impact and the successful delivery of the project.
