EntreComp for Teachers (ECT) aims to improve the quality (and inclusiveness) of school education through making direct policy and practice based links between the professionalization of teachers, educators and leaders and how this can be supported by developing the capacity of teachers to deliver entrepreneurship education through their teaching. The ‘content’ of a professional skill framework will be drawn from the EntreComp framework, designed to support learners in developing the kinds of creative and critical thinking skills they need for life and employment. This framework is chosen because it meets European-wide policy imperatives, offers consistency to the quality assurance of the project and enables teachers to tailor and align their own professional learning to student focused outcomes. This will be the first time in Europe that a teacher focused skills framework has been developed to address the high priority yet difficult-to-address teaching area of entrepreneurship education. Project Outcomes: 1. Co-constructed and tested EntreComp for Teachers - a Professional Entrepreneurial Skills Framework for Teachers inspired by EntreComp, developed in close consultation with learners, teachers, school leaders, community and business 2. Clear understanding of how a professional entrepreneurial competences framework is applicable to all curriculum areas 3. Demonstration of the effectiveness of the principle of Deliberate Practice in teaching to drive effective CPS and support lifelong learning mind-sets for teachers 4. Training model for teachers through initial teacher education and continuing professional development using an innovative and collaborative social learning media environment (loopme.io) 5. A policy toolkit outlining why and how the PESF can be embedded into existing ITE and CPD at national and regional level, developed in consultation with European and national/regional policy-makers

In collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders, the SHERPA project will investigate, analyse and synthesise our understanding of the ways in which smart information systems (SIS; the combination of artificial intelligence and big data analytics) impact ethics and human rights issues. It will develop novel ways of understanding and addressing SIS challenges, evaluate with stakeholders, and advocate the most desirable and sustainable solutions. SHERPA will: (1) represent and visualise the ethical and human rights challenges of SIS through case studies, scenarios and artistic representations, (2) work with a range of stakeholders to identify their concerns and preferred solutions (via interviews, a large-scale online survey, a Delphi study, a stakeholder board), (3) develop and publish a workbook on responsible development of SIS, (4) present technical and regulatory options (e.g., terms of reference for a regulator), (5) validate and prioritise the proposals through multi-stakeholder focus groups, and (6) advocate, promote and implement the most promising solutions through targeted dissemination and communication activities. The SHERPA consortium has 11 partners from six European countries (representing academia, industry, civil society, standards bodies, ethics committees, art).

The DIRECTIVE 2009/128/EC ON THE SUSTAINABLE USE OF PESTICIDES gives directions for attaining the sustainable use of pesticides in the EU. The objective is to minimize risks and impacts for the environment and human health by promoting alternative strategies. Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is one of the cornerstones of the Directive. NOVATERRA aims to reduce the use and negative impacts of CONTENTIOUS PLANT PROTECTION PRODUCTS (PPP) for integrated pest, disease and weed management in the two main Mediterranean crops in Europe: grapevines and olives. NOVATERRA will develop a pool of novel, integrated and sustainable strategies, technically and economically viable, resulting from three different approaches: a) To develop novel combinations of ALTERNATIVE, non-synthetic PRODUCTS and biological control techniques for plant protection, b) To optimize the application and dosage of PPP through SMART FARMING technologies and c) To mitigate the appearance of pest and diseases through the use of new SOIL MANAGEMENT strategies. Those approaches will be evaluated and validated in a combination of integrated solutions for updating and improving IPM strategies. Indicators for measuring the impact of crop management and protection on human health, air, water, soil, biodiversity, energy will be implemented. Further analyses will be done in terms of economic cost-benefit for farmers to adopt the different techniques and farmers and consumers’ willingness to pay. The consortium composition will guarantee a multi-actor approach with contributions coming from research institutions, growers, technological SMEs, auxiliary industry and relevant associations. Finally, the Exploitation Plan together with the Communication and Dissemination Plan will ensure the outreach of results among the stakeholders in the European farming sector. NOVATERRA outputs will also be key for further discussion with policymakers in terms of EU plant health policies and risk assessment around PPPs usage.
