This project, in similarity with other Mobility projects that CENFIM in a continuously way leads, integrates the same objectives and expectations as always, which are characteristic to this European Initiative: Encouraging the growth of professional and personal skills in trainees, extending trainees perspective in relation to professional practice, and strengthening the social, cultural and linguistic dimension through mobility experience provided in other European contexts, giving them a greater sense of European identity and citizenship and contributing to a greater potentiality for mobility in the European Union. This Organization also believes that the opportunity to develop Mobilities in foreign countries reaches two purposes that are of most relevant: one is to promote the excellence in learning, enabling merit as a reward, that stimulate a greater achievement from the trainees in the learning process through objective selection criteria, other is enhancing professional skills and providing new opportunities for employment in Europe, although our trainees have full employability in Portugal in their sector.Aware of the impact that these experiences bring to the trainees in the local communities where CENFIM is placed, and on the other hand our national dimension (13 training centres across different territorial and industrial areas) and the high number of trainees, it was our requirement to decentralised the project, to distribute it into the various regions where we operate, in order to extend as much as possible the impact of these enriching experiences, not only professional, but also social and cultural. In the aftermath of this project, we are proud to have fully achieved these objectives/strategies, as the 30 Mobility for Trainees were fully realized, providing professional experiences (internships) in companies from 7 different countries, distributed by 4 different career prospects (Mechatronics, CNC Programming and Operation, Industrial Maintenance and Refrigeration and Climatization), involving young people from regions as distinct as Sines, Santarém, Peniche, Caldas da Rainha, Marinha Grande, Porto, Ermesinde, Amarante and Trofa, and we are convinced that this geographical heterogeneity has a strong positive impact on the local populations. It was therefore a project of great geographical diversity in the origin and destination of the trainees. It should be remarked that all Mobilities were carried out in a job-training context (Companies from the sector), which were recognized as “Workplace Practice” within the courses the students attended. For this reason these mobilities were evaluated according to CENFIM training evaluation requirements, and all learners had good evaluations with several cases of merit. The Staff mobilities were focused on study visits to homologous institution of CENFIM, that also were intermediate Partners for the trainees’ mobilities as well. So, it had not only been possible to know them better and to exchange experience within the context of industry and training in different European countries (not only boosting their professional skills but also the cultural and social context that these opportunities for contact with different European contexts and organizations necessarily brings); but it also allowed, coinciding the trip dates to allow the staff to accompany the trainees mobilities in their first week, in order to support their integration and the organizational issues of their placements. Unfortunately, one of the staff flow (6 staff) that targeted specific objectives did not occur. This was a long-desired opportunity to visit and acquire skills from a relevant entity as a supplier but also a coach in CNC technology but, unfortunately, despite the many efforts for the right scheduling, it was impossible to match calendars and compromises on a side-by-side basis for these mobilities occur. This even led to a request to extend the project, but the mobilities of these 6 staff were not possible. In short, this project provided 39 Mobilities, involving 10 distinct regions (besides the above-mentioned, Lisbon was one of the cities that provided beneficiaries), to countries as distinct as Spain, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Finland, United Kingdom and Lithuania, contributing to a very strong impact on the beneficiaries' life and work experience, and also bringing a huge increase in CENFIM's European cooperation skills and visibility in communities that are usually less privileged in this kind of initiatives.
