Next to the national scope of duties it carries out various international projects and is therefore globally connected and worldwide active. Daily thousands of German Police Officers are involved in various international and intercultural situations. These international ties at political and social levels make it necessary that the Federal Police adapts and develops continuously. The self-perception of the police and political goals require a diverse as well as people-oriented force, which defines itself through citizen-inspired actions and a grasp of the needs of those citizens. The necessity to strengthen the intercultural competence of the officers is thus obvious. The challenge which needs to be tackled now is to complement the theoretical education of officers within the middle management level who learn about European Aspects, intercultural competences and diversity but have had no opportunity so far, due to the narrow training curriculum, to gain practical experience in international cooperation. Due to the Corona pandemic unfortunately only two young police officers were given the possibility to gain these practical experiences abroad following the completion of their police training in Germany. During an internship the officers were integrated into Swedish police authority departments for two weeks and perform daily tasks without exercising executive powers. The participants were selected for this purpose by the Directorates of the Federal Police in a decentralized and fair procedure. The mobilities serve the cooperation of European police forces and the networking of the forces among themselves. They promote the development of key competences in the participating police officers by allowing them to collect practical experience at an early stage of their professional career. The participants got to know the local procedures and practices. They learned to have confidence in the work of other European border authorities and got to know different approaches to similar problems. A view of various possible solutions was given and an understanding of methods learned, which may differ from the German practices. The participants were empowered to respond openly to new challenges. In the long term, the result strengthens a network of European police officers who provide the citizens within the EU with more security and freedom. Crime, in particular cross-border crime may be answered more quickly and effectively.

One of the main assumptions formulated in the internationalization strategy in the field of police vocational education and training is to intensify the participation of WMP in international educational projects. They are aimed mainly at the exchange of information, experience and good practices used by European police to regulate and balance learning processes and procedures. Training-teaching staff that participate in the training transmits the acquired experience and knowledge during cascading trainings to the WMP employees as well as towards non-police entities. The project takes into account the WMP internationalization strategy, which assumes that each participant will receive full support enabling them to take part in an international training project as well as further selfimprovement. The training activities of this project are also in line with the strategic objective of WMP, which aims to strengthen international regional cooperation, in particular, in the area of organized economic crime and combating cross-border criminal groups, which corresponds to the subject of the project. The exchange of experience and knowledge will ensure closer cooperation between project partners and will broaden the scope of international cooperation to a large extent. The following partner institutions expressed their willingness to participate in our project: Riga Municipal Police, Vilnius County Police HQ, Munich Police HQ, Police Academy of the Republic of Croatia, National Police General Directorate of Bulgaria, Hungarian National Police HQ, General Inspectorate of Romanian Police, Cyprus Police,Macedonian Police. The project assumes a cycle of 1-week visits of 6-person WMP trainer groups in the above institutions. Visits at partner institutions will be based on daily service observation (job shadowing), discussion of practical aspects of using tools and methods used in identifying people and verifying identity documents as a skill to comprehensively assess a set of traits and behaviors of a person - in particular in the psychological field aspects of identity verification, and to develop new forms and procedures for professional development in this area. Hence the main goal of the project - extending the offer of professional training of municipal police officers by raising professional qualifications at the national and European level in the area of identity verification - document control. Raising knowledge and competences of teaching staff in this area will also contribute to more effective fight against terrorism and organized criminal groups, including groups dealing with trafficking in human beings and significantly hinders their criminal activity. The main objective, directly related to the practice of the implementation of the tasks of the European police services, will be achieved by raising the participants' knowledge in the following thematic areas: - Identity control - ways of deceiving the controlling party, as well as organizational and psychological determinants of effective control; - Verification of the person's identity based on the data contained in the document - psychological reaction aspects of the controlled; - Control of the appearance and image of the person; - Verification of data contained in the document; - Comparison of the description data; - Evaluation of progression; - Questioning from data; - Forcing interaction of the controlled party; - Proceeding in the case of lack of orders understanding of or lack of reaction to orders by controlled person; - Verification of documents secured against forgery; - Specification of culturally conditioned behaviors; - Document in the light of law. The project will last 18 months. Although initially it was assumed that 3 mobility projects will take place with the participation of 15 participants, thanks to the wide interest in its subject, 9 partners have expressed their willingness to cooperate with the WMP training-teaching staff, dealing with organizing, coordinating and implementing various training projects for policemen and employees of the Warsaw garrison. Thanks to the exchange of experiences and good practices with the above-mentioned polices, a new vocational training program that takes into account changes taking place in Europe will be created, the implementation of which will have a direct impact on the security of citizens. This program will be a part of the "" Diversity of Vocational Training Program "", which was created during the implementation of the previous project implemented under the Erasmus + program; • traditional direct trainings and cascading trainings • printed teaching materials and information on IT site"

This project uses the notion of the 'surveillant assemblage' proposed by Haggerty & Ericson (2000) and inspired by Deleuze & Guattari (1988) as the starting point to provide a better understanding of how surveillance technologies are governed Surveillance practices threaten the privacy of citizens and visitors of public gatherings, but they also have a social impact and economic cost. The first overarching purpose of the GATHERINGS project consists of three ambitions: - to improve the efficacy of surveillance in order to render public gatherings safer - to increase the fairness and transparency of surveillance by making it more privacy-friendly, - to boost feasibility of surveillance for involved stakeholder by making it more cost-effective, both economically and socially. The second overarching purpose is to identify gaps in terms of awareness among professionals and citizens, and bringing about international harmonisation of good practices and common standards with regard to the privacy-friendly, socially sensitive, cost-effective surveillance of safer public gatherings. In order to respond to the call priorities, the GATHERINGS project will: - develop common standards, to maximise privacy and data protection in surveillance practices - develop an accessible matrix, to be used by surveillance professionals, local administrations and event organisers, to weigh security against privacy, economic cost and social impact - set up an international network of surveillance professionals, administrations, experts, policy makers and citizens - develop an awareness-raising programme for citizens and civil society - develop an awareness-raising programme for surveillance professionals - formulate policy recommendations - search for synergies with other ongoing security research projects

Given the ever-increasing travel both on land and sea, delays and queues are often observed at cases where people are crossing border. These delays create huge frustration for the citizens and at the same time put extra burden to the border authorities staff. In Europe, airports have managed to improve to a certain extend the border crossing through the facial recognition booths for European citizens that own an RFID enabled passport, however there are still huge queues observed. For non-European citizens, the situation is even worse. The border control for land and sea are placing all the effort to the border authorities staff requiring from them to check the passports of the travellers as well as to control the luggage and baggage. Reasonably, even without huge number of travellers, large delays and queues are observed. ODYSSEUS will enable citizens to seamlessly cross the border without stopping, while reducing the workload and improving productivity for Border Guard Authorities by providing highly detailed risk analysis. ODYSSEUS will leverage the power of digital technology offering to citizens the appropriate tools to cross land and sea borders in a secure and seamless manner without stopping while equipping the border authorities with novel tools for secure identity verification and unobtrusive vehicle/luggage/cargo checks, eliminating long delays at border areas. The proposed technologies will allow citizens to cross borders without any intervention by just leveraging their smartphones combined with strong and continuous identity verification. Remote vehicle/luggage scanning through X-Rays and UAVs, will allow authorities to remotely perform the appropriate controls.

One of them is developing a chatbot, which will employ empathetic language and inform victims on ways to get help and assistance, as well as refer them to hotline numbers, police or other first responders to de-escalate violent situations. The chatbot will also familiarize citizens with the different types of DV, how to prevent, detect and investigate it. With victims’ consent, an integrated data platform will gather court-proof evidence to be used to build a legal case, and record trends on the nature, frequency and circumstances of the DV. A key activity of the ISEDA project will be providing training to primarily PAs through interactive learning. Participants will develop the necessary skills to better assess DV situations, respond accordingly and provide better assistance to victims and a just treatment to their cases. Awareness on DV will be further improved through campaigns integrating victims' input, via informational guides, posters and videos. Education Programs will focus on sensitizing and engaging students, fostering know-how on deconstructing toxic gender stereotypes and GBV and promoting healthy relationships and zero tolerance to violence. The ISEDA project will also promote and implement perpetrator programs as an alternative to imprisonment and a chance for positive change, as such programs have the potential to significantly increase the quality of life of both victims and perpetrators. Overall, the ISEDA project, employing multidisciplinary expertise and addressing the different aspects of DV, has the potential to significantly enhance the fight against DV on a European level and contribute to the establishment of the necessary robust long-lasting structures to eliminate it.
