"With 33 participants from ten partner countries (Poland, Romania, Croatia, Italy, Finland, Lithuania, Portugal, Spain, Turkey and Greece) we explored, in a unique, sensorial travel, the meaning behind creative citizenship. We used corporeal and sensorial communication, learned the importance of play, understood the wisdom beyond ancestral rituals and traditions, and practiced silence as a necessary condition for communication. We investigated the relationship between body memory, sensorial languages and theatrical creation and learned how we can apply the Sensory Labyrinth Theatre (SLT) methodology in our own community.Inspired by the work of Theatre Anthropologist Enrique Vargas, and further developed by director Iwan Brioc, Sensory Labyrinth Theatre is a participative arts process that leads to the creation of a onetime, unique performance. In Sensory Labyrinth Theatre there is no easy line that can be drawn between the audience and the players. The stage is everywhere including in the shared moment, so the observer and the observed become one. The “spectators” are invited to take an active role as they become travelers in a symbolic and oneiric journey. The idea of using Sensory Labyrinth Theatre as a tool for community building and empowerment with the young people, comes from the researches that show that, unfortunately, often young people have no voice or influence in many of the contexts in which they find themselves. Furthermore, teenagers are often unequipped and under supported to participate fully and feel like they are making meaningful contributions to society. This is especially the case for young people who are disadvantaged or members of a minority groups, such as young people with a migrant history or refugees. As youth workers, we are searching for new, innovative, participative ways to get our youth actively involved in the local communities, to develop their sense of community and to empower them. Project objectives: To introduce the participants to SLT methodology and explore how it can be used as a tool in youth work, with a focus on building a sense of community and develop creative citizenshipsTo raise participants ability to communicate non-verbally and sensorial and to practice mindfulness To explore the application opportunities of the methodology in engaging, motivating and generating a sense of community for young people coming from different disadvantaged groups, with a focus on youth with migrant history and refugeesTo invigorate a dialogue in international non-formal education community about innovation in youth work approaches through participative arts To share knowledge about the ERASMUS+ programme and to create a network for the development of common projects in the near futureThe activities foreseen in the training course were inspired by various fields and specialisations: applied arts and participative theatre, meditation, mindfulness and other Eastern practices, non-formal education and theory of change, development psychology and community theories. Thus, the methodology of work includes the use of a variety of non-formal methods and tools to generate learning and long term impact on the participants. The training course took place in Kazimierz Dolny, Poland, in the month of September 2017. During the training course the participants have developed their own labyrinth theatre performance and they invited members from the local community from Kazimierz Donly to join it. The ""spect-actors"" participating in our performance were mostly students with migrant history from Ukraine and Belarus, that highly appreciated the experience, defining it as ""intense"", ""amazing"" and ""beautiful"". We also created Sense and Sensibility.Toolkit that offers an insight view on Sensory Labyrinth Theatre methodology and two short videos documenting our own journey into the labyrinth, during those nine days of training."
