"The growing mobility that closely links geographic and political realities once perceived as distant, and even the unstoppable globalization of economies, have highlighted the need of integrated approaches that wisely combine the intervention of European policies with the governance choices implemented at local level by the Countries of destination of the flows. The role of local authorities in the European migration scenario is increasingly important, both for government and reception policies, and for interlocutors and implementers of European directives on immigration issues. Anci-Emilia Romagna represents a regional network of Municipalities. It is involved in numerous hospitality projects. In Italy it is a regional reference for the training of municipal administrative and government officials. ""Municipal leadership on immigrant integration"" is a Life learning program for ANCI ER personnel, included in a two-year European development plan, which will allow a strengthening of skills in the following areas of relevance: 1. improve the intercultural skills of the mobility staff; 2. develop the skills of personnel involved in international cooperation projects, integration and management of migratory flows; 3. create or improve the European dimension of training; 4. strengthen management with new ICT solutions. The objectives will be achieved through job shadowing activities at European associations of Municipalities based in Brussels, Maastricht and at the Municipality of Ciudad Real, while specific training courses will be held in Germany, Malta, Belgium, United Kingdom, Netherlands and Ireland. The skills acquired will contribute to the development of the Municipalities associated with Anci-Emilia Romagna with: - new plans for continuous training and updating for the staff of the Municipalities; - greater openness to innovative solutions for welcoming migrants; - greater capacity for coordination and management of European funds. The project will bring new skills in the practices of management of migratory phenomena on the territory from a technical and administrative point of view, but also ability in bringing together the groups and individuals of marginalized, isolated and vulnerable communities, generating virtuous integration mechanisms. ANCI Emilia Romagna hopes for an improvement in the provision of training and support services to Municipalities and to create opportunities to show and share the results achieved with regional, national and European institutions, to discuss and propose new policies and new strategies for shared intervention on the issue of migration. To contribute to the promotion of the values of the European Union connected to the governance policies on the themes of the reception of migrants and refugees, also through the strengthening of the cooperation between organizations of different Member States."
