Open Access Mandate for Publications and Research data assignment_turned_in Project2026 - 2028Partners:Selçuk UniversitySelçuk UniversityFunder: European Commission Project Code: 101244228Funder Contribution: 165,205 EURThe growing demand for organic poultry, particularly chickens, presents a challenge for the industry to offer sustainable alternatives while ensuring animal health under less controlled organic conditions. Organic quail farming emerges as a viable option, but the absence of controlled environments makes quails more prone to health and productivity issues. Nutraceuticals like B vitamins offer a promising solution, yet no studies have determined the optimal supplementation levels for organic quails under these conditions. OrganiQ addresses this by investigating the effects of thiamine (B1), pyridoxine (B6), and cobalamin (B12) to improve quail growth (WP1), physiological responses (WP2), gut microbiome dynamics (WP3), and meat and egg quality (WP4). The goal is to identify the ideal dosage and combination of these vitamins to boost productivity, health, and product quality in non-controlled environments. Using an interdisciplinary approach that integrates animal production, microbiology, bioinformatics, and food science, I aim to develop evidence-based dietary recommendations for organic quail farming. Selçuk University, known for its expertise in avian production and led by Prof. Olgun, provides the perfect environment for this research. Additionally, secondments at the University of Salamanca and Estación Tecnológica de la Carne will enhance my skills in microbiological and meat quality analysis while further developing my leadership capabilities. OrganiQ will equip me with practical experience and interdisciplinary knowledge, preparing me to manage multidisciplinary teams and pursue European funding opportunities, ultimately enabling me to establish my own research group in sustainable animal production.

It is a multidisciplinary academic field that systematically examines the interaction between people and the environment. In this context, it is thought that by making a consortium application on the themes of sustainable development and environmental protection, this diversity of environmental research will provide a wide range in terms of reinforcing the capacities and international scope of the organisations participating in the consortium. The main objective of the mobility consortium is to contribute in building of knowledge, skills and attitudes on environmental issues, climate change and sustainable development. In parallel to this, the consortia aims to increase the number of mobility opportunities in green forward-looking fields which:•fostering the development of competences, •enhancing career prospects and •engaging participants in subject areas,•promoting more sustainable means of transport•working with international partners to improve global environmental standards•increasing the quality of mobility activities through all Consortium member institutions’ expertise and experienceIn this context, the main mobility activities of the consortium will include internships and training activities allowing beneficiaries to grow personally and professionally. Staff activities towards academicians and administrators will also play an important role in achieving the above mentioned goals. However the new Erasmus programme has new mobility types which our consortium is ready to carry out such as short term doctoral mobilities, blended intensive mobilities and so on. All activities should be designed in an eco-friendly manner and should incorporate green practices in all facets. Addressing these needs and issues marks the starting point of the consortium for sustainability, which aims to encourage and empower students, academic and administrative staff at HEIs to act as catalysts for change within their communities, be it through family, friends and their community at large.Sustainable development is an important global vision in the globalizing world. Realizing this vision requires multidimensional research and taking social, political and economic decisions. Therefore universities are one of the stakeholders which have crucial roles and responsibilities in achieving goals of sustainable development. While building a consortium, the focus was on universities that attached importance to sustainable development goals and work on this topic. Building a consortium on this global topic will both increase solidarity between higher education institutions and other stakeholders and improve cooperation opportunities by sharing good practices. The characteristics of the selected Internship Consortium partners also support this cooperation to achieve successful results in the short- medium and long term. Indeed, they are the institutions/ organizations that are well-equipped in subjects such as the successful execution of the project, the creation of the team necessary for the project to reach its purpose and the expected result, the completion of the preparatory activities, the employment of personnel and the training of the personnel that will directly benefit the process, and can contribute to the transfer of experience and expertise. In addition, the field of activity of the stakeholders is in line with the project goals, goals and objectives. Establishing such an internship consortium thus contributes to this cooperation, and have the potential to achieve the following impacts at the institutional/organisational, local, regional, national and/or international levels: Short term impacts: Directing human resources to be sent from Turkey to abroad for a certain period of time as part of the internship, to the institutions/organizations working especially in the fields of the protection of environment, based on the principles of sustainable development and sustainability, producing environmentally friendly / compatible policies, Mid-term impacts: Sharing the experiences and outputs obtained, Long term impacts: Transferring/ adapting the outputs and good practice examples obtained by establishing a green campus to the education curriculum and practices of Selçuk University, which is the applicant institution, and transferring them to the consortium partners and, Sharing experiences with other institutions as a good consortium practice, supporting the establishment of more consortiums and supporting the culture of cooperation at the European level, Being a part of the programme “Accelerating Education for the SDGs in Universities” conducted under the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) aiming to implementing and mainstreaming Education for the SDGs.
