The St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences pursues an internationalization strategy that is firmly grounded in the following areas: 1) increased opportunities for academic mobility for students and staff, 2) close co-operation with relevant partner universities, 3) participation in national and international research projects, 4) enriching projects that foster internationalization at home, and 5) equipping graduates with international competencies. Erasmus mobility is a major component of the international activities described above. In the academic year 2018/19, Erasmus mobility numbers were quite satisfactory across the spectrum of students, lecturers and staff, given the size of the institution. All of the six academic departments - Media and Economics, Media and Digital Technologies, Computer Science and Security, Rail Technology and Mobility, Health Sciences, Social Sciences - have evaluated and consolidated existing university partnerships and have forged new ties. Collaboration continues to focus mainly on European partners, although several new partnership agreements have been concluded outside of Europe (mainly Asia). Partnerships have been strengthened by means of sustained and often well-balanced bilateral exchanges and multilateral projects (e.g. Erasmus Knowledge Alliances or jointly organized conferences) in teaching and research.
