"In the academic years 2018-2021, the University of Bialystok (UwB) implemented the fourth, Erasmus+ KA107 project with the following partner universities: a) Kosovo: University of Prishtina ""Hasan Prishtina""; b) Ukraine: ""Lviv Polytechnic"" National University, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv; Odessa I.I. Mechnikov National University; c) Russian Federation: Smolensk State University, Immanuel Kant Baltic University (Kaliningrad); d) Belarus: Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, Baranovichi State University, Belarusian State University; e) Armenia: Yerevan State University; f) Canada: University of Quebec Montreal (UQAM); g) Serbia: University of Belgrade; h) Thailand: Silpakorn University; i) United States: Michigan State University, Indiana University - Purdue University of Indianapolis; i) Georgia: Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University; j) Vietnam: Nong Lam University, Vietnam National University - University of Science Ho Chi Minh City (VNUHCM). The project concerned SMS, STT and STAmobilities. The implementation of the Erasmus+ programme, despite the occurrence of the Covid-19 pandemic, was successful, both in terms of compliance with the ECHE Charter, the Erasmus Policy Statement (EPS), the UwB Development Strategy 2014-2024 and the development strategies of the partner universities. According to UwB's assessment, the planned qualitative and quantitative objectives were achieved to a large extent. UwB and partner universities ensured equal access to the programme, treatment, and recognition of mobility for all participants. All information concerning project implementation was made available on the UwB website, on the websites of individual departments/institutes and on the websites of partner universities. Participants were provided with support from UwB and partner universities before, during and after mobility. Mobility of mixed character was implemented for the first time. The universities have managed to implement objectives included in the development strategy, . e.g: developing cooperation with foreign partners, improving qualifications of the academic staff (also in terms of foreign language skills and establishing contacts abroad, participation in international projects), development of students through participation in international exchanges. The length of stay at UwB per student from partner countries was over 4 months. In the course of the project, women more often carried out mobility. In the case of students it was 60% of all participants, and - employees - 60.87%. This is due to women showing more activity, striving to broaden their horizons to be more competitive in the labour market, quite dominated by men. For studies, In the academic years 2018-2020, 4 students came to UwB to pursue a study program at the Faculty of Law (from Kaliningrad, Pristina, Tbilisi, Yerevan). For the first time under KA107 project it was possible to realize SMS mobility (student from the Faculty of Physics) to Indianapolis (USA). UwB and partner universities supported reintegration of returning programme participants and enabled them to share experiences gained with other students/staff. As far as project results and impact are concerned, it should be noted that students' and staff's mobility had a very positive impact on their self -development, competence development, and professional careers. Erasmus+ KA107 programme implemented by UwB and partner universities had a positive impact on local and regional communities. The incoming students, carrying out mobility at UwB, took part in a number of initiatives, which brought long-term benefits to various community stakeholders. Participation in the programme contributed to increasing the importance of UwB and partner universities in the international arena and developing cooperation at the European/international level. High indicators of satisfaction of the mobility participants testify to the good quality of the implemented project, which had a direct impact on the continuation of the cooperation within Erasmus+ KA107 and resulting in obtaining funding from projects within the KA107 calls 2019-2021 and 2020-2022. The partner universities participating in the project will actively increase the number of mobilities and will strive to implement mobility in physical, virtual or mixed form as efficiently as possible. UwB and partner universities will continue to maintain high standards in accordance with the European Commission requirements and introduce new solutions, which will allow the project to function and its continuation."

Year 2016/2017 was the 18th year of the participation of the University of Bialystok (UwB) in the Erasmus+ programme. UwB cooperated with 162 partner institutions, under 215 inter-institutional agreements. The number of partner institutions has been increased by 19 compared to the last year. UwB completed all the programme's activities: student mobilities (SMS and SMP), as well as staff mobilities (STA and STT).The implementation of Erasmus+ programme was in accordance to the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE), Erasmus Policy Statement (EPS) and the Development Strategy of UwB for the period 2014 to 2024 (adopted by the Senate in 2014), also from the perspective of the achievement of the planned quantitative goals. UwB ensured equal access, equal treatment and full recognition of mobilities of all participants. The information related to the project was available at the UwB website. Participants had constant support from UwB before, during and after mobility. UwB was able to achieve the main goals from the Development Strategy of UwB, such as: the development of cooperation with foreign partners, the improvement of competences of the academic staff (also in the field of foreign languages and international contacts), the development of students through participation in international exchange, the increase in the number of foreign students in the total number of UwB students, the acquisition of the staff’s experience in teaching in foreign languages. In 2016/2017 UwB completed the following number of mobilities within KA103 project: : 60 SMS (107 416 EUR), 30 SMP ( 58 396 EUR), 33 STA (25 125 EUR), 33 STT (27 560 EUR) and spent a total amount of 218 497 EUR. Organizational support received by UwB was 46 200 EUR. Originally, the University was granted 78 SMS and 79 students applied. Eventually however, only 60 of them left. 19 people resigned owing to circumstances beyond UwB’s control. The average length of mobility per student amounted to approx. 5 months. 10 students out of 60, came from disadvantaged backgrounds. 30 students and graduates undertook traineeships. For the first time two people from disadvantaged backgrounds (financed from PO WER funds) also participated in this category. The average length of a work placement of a student/graduate was 4 months. In 2016/2017, 33 staff mobilities within the STA took place. 16 teachers from foreign universities visited UwB. 33 UwB employees visited institutions abroad for training purposes. 1 employee of the partner institutions undertook the traineeship at UwB. As for the incoming students participating in SMS, UwB hosted 59 of them. 20 students studied for the full academic year. 50 studied at UwB during the winter semester (30 of them only in the winter semester), and 29 students – during the summer semester (9 of them only in the summer semester). The faculties predominantly chosen by the foreign students were: Economics and Management and Law. 4 people participated in the Erasmus+ traineeship programme at UwB. Given the significant benefits of the programme for numerous beneficiaries, University supported the reintegration of mobile participants and facilitated the use of their experience for the benefit of both UwB as well as its students/staff. As for the results and impact attained, the students and staff mobilities had a very large impact on their development, their careers and the increase of their competences. Erasmus+ programme implemented by UwB had a big impact on the local community and region. Both outgoing students from the previous years and incoming students, took part in a series of initiatives, that have benefited various subjects of the local community. Benefits are considered as a long-term. The participation in the programme has contributed to the increase of the significance of UwB in the international arena and its ability to cooperate on European/international level. An example of such an increase is continuance of cooperation with: Serbia, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and Kosovo - within KA107 project. The high satisfaction rates for mobility participants proved the good quality of the project implemented by the University. In the future UwB intends to: continue the Erasmus+ programme, actively expand the number of partners and participants, as well as to aim at the most efficient implementation of mobilities. The University will continue to maintain high standards in compliance with the requirements of the European Commission and introduce new solutions that will improve administration of the programme.
