In addition to an interdisciplinary approach, internationality is one of the European University Viadrina’s (EUV) most important founding principles. Internationality means placing Viadrina firmly in the European university landscape. Within this context, the European and worldwide mobility of students and teaching staff is just as vital as qualifications which are recognized internationally and international cooperation inteaching and research. The EUV plays an especially important international role as a “bridge” to be crossed in both directions between Western Europe and East-Central Europe. In this respect, the EUV is not only to be understood as an academic body but also as a decidedly political project. Within the framework of the Erasmus Partnership and its political and economic associations with the relevant target states, the EUV is concentrating increasingly on Eastern European states and their relations to the EU. These partner states are subjects for research as well as cooperation partners with their own regional expertise. They have clearly increased in relevance for the EUV’s internationalization strategy. Therefore, the EUV places emphasis not only on a quantitative development of mobility but also on a qualitative improvement in its cooperation with selected partner universities. This involves the extension and intensification of joint research projects, dual and multiple degrees together with exchange programmes for students and staff.We have been able to achieve the majority of our quantitative and qualitative aims. Mobility has been greatly increased in both directions leading to increased scientific cooperation with the participating universities. The consequent strengthening of the profile of the EUV and its positioning in the target countries is invaluable and, therefore, Erasmus+ KA103 projects will continue to play a significant role in our internationalization strategy in the future.

Das Projekt bestand in der Organisation von Veranstaltungen für Studierende zum Thema Mobilität der EU-Bürger, die sich insgesamt über drei Semester erstreckten. Die Seminare hatten einen wegbereitenden Charakter und erweckten großes Interesse bei den Studierenden. Die Projektkoordinatorin beschränkte sich hierbei nicht nur auf reine Lehrveranstaltungen. Die Studierenden organisierten Debatten, Webinars und Interviews mit Experten, die anschließend in Form von Aufnahmen Eingang in den Blog fanden, der als Produkt des Seminars entstand. Die Studierenden nahmen auch an Hospitationen und ganztägigen Seminaren in Berlin teil, bei denen sie Gelegenheit hatten, mit lokalen Politikern sowie Vertretern von Migrantenorganisationen zu sprechen. Zu diesen Veranstaltungen wurden Gäste eingeladen, die die Vielfalt des Themas widerspiegelten, z.B. ein Vertreter einer türkischen Migrantenorganisation und ein Rechtsanwalt für Sozialrecht. Dadurch erlangten die Studierenden einzigartiges, praktisches Wissen über die Konsequenzen der Mobilität in Europa. Um auch dem digitalen Charakter der Mobilität gerecht zu werden, wurden im Rahmen der Veranstaltung zwei Internetauftritte erstellt: ein Blog über die EU-weite Mobilität sowie die Website eines informellen Thinktanks, der den Herausforderungen der Mobilität zwischen Polen und Deutschland gewidmet ist.

This action supports physical and blended mobility of higher education students and staff from/to third countries not associated to Erasmus+. Students in all study fields and cycles can take part in a study period or traineeship abroad. Higher education teaching and administrative staff can take part in professional development activities abroad, as well as staff from the field of work in order to teach and train students or staff at higher education institutions.
