assignment_turned_in ProjectPartners:MUP, MUPMUP,MUPFunder: European Commission Project Code: 2018-1-CZ01-KA103-046997Funder Contribution: 295,210 EURThe project has started three years ago with aim to support MUP students and staff with financial means for their mobilities across Erasmus+ countries. Hence the trendsto travel across Europe is rather decreasing in number of students mobilities so is the situation at Metropolitan university Prague. Based on those facts it has been decided to apply for rather lower total grant amount than in previous years to ensure that the means are going be distributed. On the other hand, due to the promotion activities the number of staffs that had been interested to participate on mobilities was more than 70 (to compare with previous years where approximate number of academic mobilities were 10 per academic year) as well as there was the interest of students therefore the requested amount of 450864 euro, approved by the National agency was considered as appropriate amount for MUP. During the 2019 we were able to send abroad on Erasmus+ mobility 24 staff and about 65 students on study stays and roughly 20 for traineeships. Due to the distribution of information there were about 70 students for study stays after the first selection round interested to participate on Erasmus+ exchange in 2020 as well as more than 60 staff. Some mobilities has been already planned and approved with partner universities and some Mobility agreements were already signed. Insomuch as the pandemics hit Europe early in 2020 most of the mobilities were cancelled due to travel restrictions and serious threat of the COVID19 virus. The 2020 brought a break to mobilities. Some students that left on their mobilities for summer semester early in 2020 has decided to stay in destinations of their mobilities, about half of the students came back to CZ either to finish the mobility online or start the semester with delay at MUP. The MUP management was very flexible and allowed those students to finish the semester with no restrictions not to cause any delay in their studies. The quantitative measures as described in the original project application has not been met due to the effect on the COVID 19 pandemics on mobilities and traveling in general. In the project application MUP has requested project of 24 months duration in the amount of 212 mobilities and a budget 393 464 EUR in total, OM excluded. Due to the pandemics MUP has applied for project extension last year and the National agency has extended the project for additional 12 months. Both parties have sign the amendment Nr. 2. The extension of the project brought the opportunity to include several more mobilities into the project among others traineeship mobilities and two more staff mobilities. In total MUP has realized 160 mobilities.

All these mobilities were implemented on the basis of pre-concluded contracts with partner universities and adequately balanced mobility between participating universities were prefered. The project was organized by 2 administrative staff. Mobility of students has been opened for Bachelor, Master PhD. students. The total mobility participantswere 21 - number of students were 13 (9 incoming and 4 outgoing) and 6 teachers (4 incoming and 2 outgoing) and 2 employees from MUP to India. For students, mobility is a contribution to the new experience gained through the study, for teachers, the greatest contribution to the possibilities of practical teaching abroad and the acquisition of experience and new impetus for further pedagogical activity. Employees have gained experience from the work of Manipal University in India in the field of international relations and faculty work for future student Exchange activities. For all project participants, the linguistic contribution of participation in mobility was also significant even in India because one MUP participant is speaking hindi. It was the first activity funded from the Erasmus budget to non-EU countries and from non-EU countries to the EU and since the begining it was seen that it is the most important to open the exchange of staff first and to recognize the possibilities of partner universities for future student exchange.Collaboration with universities in the USA was the largest, with a total of 10 exchanges, including 7 students (4 incoming and 3 outgoing) at 2 US universities, with most of the mobility being carried out between MUP and The John Marschall Law School in Chicago where is existing long-term cooperation in the area of industrial rights and patent law, not only in the context of student mobility, but there is real active participation of teachers in exchange programs, and within this project, 3 mobility of teachers have been funded between MUP and JMLS (including 2 from the USA).Mutual cooperation with the EGE Rabat University in Morocco has greatly strengthened thanks to the grant received with the exchange of students and the interest of both parties is to develop existing cooperation. In particular, activites were concentrated on student mobility (2 incoming and 2 outgoing), while the mobility of teachers and staff was not implemented in this project but it was realised with the another credit mobility project.Indian Manipal University is the only non-EU university with a Double Degree agreement, and a grant project was used in this area of cooperation, and two students from Manipal University were admitted to take part in a Master's degree program at MUP, and one teacher participated in lessons at MUP. Further mobility involved the participation of two teachers who were sent out of the MUP for training to get acquainted with the conditions of study of European studies at this Indian university. These experiences will be used for the further development of mutual exchanges between students and teachers. Collaboration with the Mexican University is also among the traditional partners, where intensive university cooperation is taking place, focusing mainly on student mobility. With the support of this project, 1 student and one teacher from Mexico were admitted. To Mexico 2 participants for MUP were sent (1 PhD. student and 1 teacher).

The consortium includes 10 members. The most successful University is the CZU, where the amount of mobilities realized through the consortium is the largest. The CZU is the only member of a consortium that has not yet organized traineeships at the university level and all placements are being implemented through a consortium. Three of the consortium members did not send any students nor graduates in this year. The strategy of the consortium's work is based on a wide range of fields of study at various universities and thus also on the acquisition of a suitable trainee for a foreign partner. The search for foreign partners is based mainly on previous long-term partnership and contacts, yet we are still looking for new opportunities. New opportunities are being successfully found through other projects, personal visits to institutions, long-term cooperation, visits to student fairs and institutions, cooperation with consortia in other EU countries, involvement in the program and recently through projects or other networks (e.g. EPALE). As a speciality there is also a possibility to get new contacts using the prestigious membership of the European Association of Cities, Institutions and Second Chance Schools (E2C). In addition, consortium staff is looking for options for traineeships in their daily work. We are looking for more opportunities through students and graduates who have already completed their traineeship and are willing to help. The main objective of the consortium is to continue to strengthen the European dimension in education at universities, to deepen the cooperation of educational institutions and businesses and other institutions to promote the quality of higher education and sustainable development, particularly in the social sciences, economics and business, international relations, agriculture. The experience gained by students, teachers and other staff of participating institutions can be easily compared to the level of foreign universities, whether education and acquired knowledge are in line with market needs.Last but not least, we know about the importance of the enriching experience from abroad for the students themselves.Educa International, o.p.s operates in the Czech Republic as a consortium Educa for already 10 years. The consortium focuses primarily on traineeships and on recent graduates, and last year also on employee mobility. We now intend to extend our activity to study at universities in partner and program countries (study mobility, traineeship mobility in the field of study and employee mobility for teaching or training). This is due to the fact that some smaller universities and higher vocational schools do not have enough staff to organize the Erasmus mobility in the best way. Very often they have a low number of mobility participants and do not have resources to hire an Erasmus expert for this work. Therefore small private higher education institutions prefer to transfer this to the consortium. They can only be involved in part of selection of the student and later activities such as the promotion of Erasmus in schools, the organization of selection and nomination of students and other mobility participants. The Educa consortium has responsibility for the administrative part of the mobility process, including financial responsibility, when implementing the Erasmus+ program. In this contract period, the offer of traineeships was extended to traineeships for university graduates and also for staff mobility. The contribution of the consortium is for all stakeholders as there is an increase in the number of trainees' mobility annually. This also includes the mobility of university graduates. In the first period, a small number of graduates participated on mobilities but now the number is higher. The consortium's activities will help small higher education institutions and higher vocational schools to implement training programs at partner universities and to implement staff training and student and graduate traineeships. Staff mobility (teaching and training) enhances participants' competencies and strengthens the internationalization of participating universities. The expected benefits are also the improvement of the quality of administrative activities (OLS, Mobility Tool, mobility agreements, Interim and Final Reports) as these administrative activities are often a barrier for these small institutions with a small number of mobility participants. The Erasmus coordinator of these universities are usually teachers and coordinating Erasmus is an additional activity and they do not have the opportunity and time to devote sufficient attention to the administrative part of the program.
