OCEANIDS aims at building user-driven applications and tools, which act as an enabling technological layer for regional authorities & stakeholders in order to achieve a more resilient and inclusive systemic pathway to a Blue Economy in coastal regions. Brining spatial and non-spatial data & services under a single-access window platform for Climate-Informed Maritime Spatial Planning (CI-MSP), the project will allow a more integrated seascape management of coastal regions. The project delivers a Decision Support tool (the OCEANIDS Decision Support Platform - O-DSP), with an over-arching target to collect, harmonise and curate existing climate data services, making data accessible, reusable and interoperable for the development of local adaptation strategies. OCEANIDS facilitates access to knowledge, data & digital services critical for better understanding and managing climate risks, enhancing adaptive capacities and sup-porting transformative innovations. In addition, OCEANIDS sees inclusivity as an enabling, and required, factor towards a Blue Economy. The project has a strong focus on behavioural change, both on individual as well as on a systemic level, en-abling participating regions and communities to better understand and use potential social tipping points and systemic leverage points to accelerate transformative changes towards climate resilience. To achieve this, it promotes inclusive and deliberative governance through meaningful engagement and dialogue between citizens and stakeholders. This will be achieved using case-specific tools (i.e. ephemeral social networks) leveraging local citizens assemblies for bot-tom up deliberation, cultivating a culture of civic engagement, thus empowering individuals to take action in their own communities. Finally, the project will contribute to mobilising sustainable finance and resources towards adaptation at scale and closing climate protection gap.

IMPRESSIVE project focuses in developing a universal-relocatable platform for real time management of marine pollution events in the wider area of EU harbors and their vicinities, easy to manipulate and use from the harbor control post. EO monitoring and advanced modeling of these areas are of great interest as the large ship activity, ship traffic and ship refueling, addresses them as highly risky for pollutant spills and waste waters. The product will be consisting of integrated operational services relying on: * A satellite monitoring service processing Sentinel 1, 2, 3 satellite images and Copernicus Marine products to identify polluting events (oil spills and waste water discharges), to generate alerts and provide their position and features in near real time. * A software package that once an event is located will provide forecast of its drift and fate, based on coupling between the pollutant fate and transport and the hydrodynamic numerical models, supporting decision making and the maneuvering of the autonomous vehicles with advanced positioning technologies. * A set of risk mapping services based on the integration of time series of remote sensing and modeling products. * A set of specifically designed Autonomous Surface Vehicle (ASV) and a drone (UAV) equipped with remote sensing instruments and a sampler device (on board of the ASV), remotely operated from the Headquarter Control Post for operational monitoring missions and/or accidental/illegal oil spills and other polluting events. * A local rapid-response integrated system of near real time satellite/ASV/drone/model/forecast/risk mapping survey information and products, to support/improve the decision making process in any particular spilling event that may occur inside or outside the harbor or in near coastal areas. The product will be accompanied by an action protocol and will be tested & validated as an operational pilot in Puerto de la Luz (Gran Canaria), Taranto port (Italy), Rafina port (Greece).

Emerging industries, as high-potential growth sectors in early stage development, can be effectively supported by cross-sectoral cluster-facilitated innovation towards the creation of new value chains and the opening up of new markets. Earth Observation-derived information has been widely proven to improve productivity (e.g. reduced fertiliser, pesticide, water, labour inputs in precision agriculture), outputs (e.g. solar farm yield), and eco-friendliness (e.g. carbon footprint monitoring of industrial activities) in the emerging food, energy and environment industries. In designing, developing and delivering sustainable services that meet the needs of these industries, European SMEs need to be supported in accessing knowledge, capital, technology and markets. Recognising this need, PARSEC aspires to build a cross-sectoral/cross-border ecosystem whereby SMEs and innovative start-ups will gain: Access to knowledge (provision of a holistic portfolio of support services, including market, technology and investment training/ information as well as tailored coaching support); Access to technology (through three large scale demonstrators, acting as enablers for the development of new EO-based products/services); Access to capital (an innovative selection and funding scheme to ensure selection of high-potential ideas); Access to market (incl. cross-border and cross-sectoral matchmaking, investment readiness, export promotion). By providing access to these resources, PARSEC will concretely contribute to the establishment of new value chains bustling with innovative SMEs that can translate the large public investments in the Copernicus programme and numerous sector specific initiatives (related to food, water, energy, climate change, biodiversity, etc.) into applications and services meeting user needs and market demands, for the benefit of European economy and society.

EO4GEO – “Towards an innovative strategy for skills development and capacity building in the space geo-information sector supporting Copernicus User Uptake”. EO4GEO is an Erasmus+ Sector Skills Alliance gathering 26 partners from 12 countries from academia, private and public sector active in the education/training and space/geospatial sectors. EO4GEO aims to help bridging the skills gap between supply and demand of education and training in the space/geospatial sector by reinforcing the existing ecosystem and fostering the uptake and integration of space/geospatial data and services in end-user applications. EO4GEO will work in an multi- and interdisciplinary way and apply innovative solutions for its education and training actions including: case based and collaborative learning scenarios; learning-while-doing in a living lab environment; on-the-job training; the co-creation of knowledge, skills and competencies; etc. EO4GEO will define a long-term and sustainable strategy to fill the gap between supply of and demand for space/geospatial education and training taking into account the current and expected technological and non-technological developments in the space/geospatial and related sectors (e.g. ICT). The strategy will be implemented by: creating and maintaining an ontology-based Body of Knowledge for the space/geospatial sector based on previous efforts; developing and integrating a dynamic collaborative platform with associated tools; designing and developing a series of curricula and a rich portfolio of training modules directly usable in the context of Copernicus and other relevant programmes and conducting a series of training actions for a selected set of scenario’s in three sub-sectors - integrated applications, smart cities and climate change to test and validate the approach. Finally a long-term Action Plan will be developed and endorsed to roll-out and sustain the proposed solutions.

CoRdiNet is an open network of five very diverse Copernicus Relays with a coordinating function on local, regional, cluster and national level, supporting, promoting and stimulating digitalisation and new business solutions based on Earth Observation (EO) i.e. Copernicus data. This coordination & support action bundles the local expertise in the civil use of EO, close to the needs and offers of citizens, administrations and businesses, and will share them with other Copernicus Relays, Academies and new EO players. Three Relays have a regional focus (Basilicata, Bavaria, East Midlands), one a national focus (Norway), while the fifth contributes the expertise of a space application company, GMV. NEREUS, the Network of European Regions using Space Technologies, comprises 26 regions and is active in exploiting the benefits of space technologies while supporting European regional space policies. As sixth partner it will be entrusted, supported by a yet to be set-up, evaluation board, to hold and decide on the distribution of a specific “fund” of 100 k EUR supporting more than 20 joint activities between the consortium and external partners with concrete proposals to collaborate. Coordination of CoRdiNet with both, the Copernicus FPA and the Copernicus Support Office, will be paid attention to. To offer tangible opportunities to collaborate with, the consortium will gather local expertise in sector oriented European-wide working groups to design better strategies and guidelines for new digital services, support the creation of pilot projects linking users & suppliers of services, organise awareness raising, bi-lateral events, while providing user-targeted information and find out about as well as bundle local key players and local societal challenges and needs, EO data are able to match. Joint outreach and dissemination activities ensure embedding of its work in national and EU/ESA activities. CoRdiNet enjoys support of EARSC, the FPA, the CSO, and 6 external regions.
