These changes have/will have a significant impact on travel and tourism as we used to know them.As a result of the considerable drop in travel linked to the Covid-19 pandemic, tourism is in a deep crisis. Being central to the European recovery, to recover it needs smart (digital, sustainable) ecosystems for all tourism stakeholders offering travellers more memorable and sustainable experiences (European Tourism Convention 2020). Travellers (adult learners and educators) and the whole community (educational, civil, and tourism organisations/individuals) need to be involved in the sustainable tourism recovery.Tourists travelling on a low budget and otherwise disadvantaged often (a) lack knowledge about sustainable tourism/travel linked to lower levels of education, (b) have limited options for sustainable accommodation/restaurants/experiences etc. in a low budget category, and (c) do not participate in sustainable travel options due to lack of information aimed at this target group (UNWTO 2018).Making tourism more accessible and offer travel experiences to people with different needs by addressing them from various perspectives (GSTC – Global Sustainable Tourism Council) is a social responsibility, based on the actions of the community agents. Guide me Green aims at making links between the needs of the low-income and disadvantaged traveller as well as local communities for more adequate sustainable travel and the needs of those non-formal/informal educators (educational, civil, and tourism organisations) to enlighten adults to travel in a sustainable way. This will be achieved through the collection of best practices, the development of a TRAINING PROGRAMME, a TOOLBOX & CAMPAIGN to promote inclusive tourism experiences across Europe. The project also answers to the Digital Education Action Plan (2021-2027) adopted by the European Commission by offering inclusive accessible digital education through high-quality learning resources.Guide me Green meets the needs of its Target Groups by:1)Inspiring and empowering low-income and disadvantaged adults to engage in sustainable tourism to encourage social cohesion. The promotion of social tourism initiatives for socially excluded groups, i.e. the low-income families, could contribute to their social inclusion and cohesion (Systems of social tourism in the European Union: A critical review, 2011)2)Support adult educators to empower individuals/organisations in the educational, civil, and tourism sectors to become more digital and green in line with this priority of the EU of climate neutrality in 2050 (European Tourism Convention 2020, European Green Deal)3)Working towards improving travellers’ (adult learners) knowledge about sustainable travel and the opportunities sustainable tourism offers is essential 4)Offering an attractive training opportunity for adult travellers, including those who work in the tourism sector (low educated workers who in turn are low-budget travellers)5)Supporting disadvantaged and low-income groups to gain access to sustainable tourism by empowering community agents to inspire actions targeting public authorities, destination management/tourism offices, sector representations, etc. to consider and implement more inclusive policies6)Encourage non-participating adults to consider suitable (local and domestic) tourism options. In 2013 EU-wide, 40% did not engage in tourism, of which 53% due to financial reasons, 20% for health reasons. Spain: out of the 46.7% of the population not participating in tourism, for the financial reason - 69.9%. Italy: out of 57.5% of the population not participating in tourism, for the financial reason - 50.0% of them. France: out of the 27.9% of the population not participating in tourism, for the financial reason - 40.2%. (EU Tourism Trend -UN).<< Objectives >>OVERALL OBJECTIVES:-Making the concept and necessity of sustainable tourism more accessible to diverse, disadvantaged or low-income groups and debunk myths about who it is for.-All project materials will be developed in order to specifically involve diverse, disadvantaged and low-income groups and promote sustainable tourism as a tool for social inclusion. -Promoting the concept of inclusive sustainable tourism to public authorities to encourage its uptake and the development of sustainable experiences. Benedetto Castelli,ITKAM,I.I.S. Benedetto Castelli,European Career EvolutionFunder: European Commission Project Code: 2018-1-IT01-KA102-006389Funder Contribution: 134,100 EURSince 1962, the IIS Castelli Institute has been a leading figure in the province of Brescia’s educational system. The province is characterized by a longstanding industrial tradition, in which small and medium-sized businesses have flourished, and by a high migratory flow. Knowing that the globalization of the economy requires the school system to produce highly competent and flexible professionals, ITIS Castelli has always been committed to forming relationships of collaboration and synergy with the institutions and companies of the region, but now reread in a European light. In consistency with that which the School European Development Plan indicates, the school is aware of the need to develop didactic practices centered on Work Based Learning in order to bridge the school-work gap and to internationalize itself. The main characteristics of the context in which the project has been designed are three: 1)The institute is one of the most complex and multifaceted schools in the region of Lombardy with its 2151 students, of whom 20% are citizens of foreign countries. The average high school dropout rate in the region is equal to 29.8%, which is above the national average of 27.9%. IIS Castelli is not immune to this trend. It is, therefore, a priority for the school to improve the academic, training, and work-related success of all students, and in particular of those who are most deserving but most disadvantaged. 2)The analysis of the occupational needs of our area has shown two important points: in 2017 the disparity between job demand and offer of technicians increased up to 40%: companies began requiring not only technical competences but also, and above all, additional soft-skills and e-skills. IIS Castelli has always been dedicated to the needs of the area, and therefore strives to bridge the school-work gap. 3)Having consulted with the industrial and business industry of the region, the Institute encountered a very limited use of the European certifications such as Europass and ECVET. Instead, the school policy seeks to assert and promote recognition and validation of the competences of the students as this will foster mobility of citizens and workers with a positive impact both on our society and its economy. The main objectives of “Mo.VE” are: Overall Objective: improve the training success of all students, and in particular of those who are most deserving but most disadvantaged. Purposes: Improve: 1) technical/professional competences; 2) linguistic competences; 3) digital skills; 4) relational skills. The highly motivating experience described in the project, which provides for internships in EU member states (Germany, Ireland and the UK), will allow for the development of not only the necessary professional competences, but also of the key and citizenship competences that will enable students to learn and grow over the course of their career. The two-year project concerns the mobility of 45 students, per year, of the fourth class in all of the institute’s specializations for internships in the cities of Berlin, Cork and Portsmouth, for three weeks. The students will be accompanied by 2 teachers who will alternate every week, for a total of 18 teachers per year. The main impact of the project will be on the reduction of school dropout: positive learning and relational experiences will increase the student’s faith in his or her own abilities, which will increase the student’s motivation and, hopefully, reduce school dropout rates. Mo.VE will open new horizons to the students and will allow them to consider themselves confident and professionally competent European citizens, capable of continual personal growth. Moreover, they will possess the knowledge of foreign languages as real means of communication in life and work. The mobility experience will, hopefully, help to close the gap between school and work and demonstrate to local companies the importance of the use of the European instruments/certificates in order to facilitate the mobility of students and workers. The most innovative aspect of Mo.VE is the large amount of data collected: this will help not only to systematically monitor the students’ learning process and the impacts of the project, but also to compare the students’ vocational training performances abroad- as well as locally- in order to support the recognition of the learning outcomes. At the project’s conclusion, ITIS Castelli will be equipped with new permanent competences capable of transforming the pilot project into a stable experience of the curriculum. In the long run, the mobility project will produce new and flexible professional profiles that will be able to satisfy the needs of the global labor market.

KG,Itaka training,Expat Intern SL,Omilos UNESCO Neon ThessalonikisFunder: European Commission Project Code: 2016-3-FR02-KA205-012167Funder Contribution: 238,255 EURIn relation to the Europe 2020 strategy, the project addresses the themes of social inclusion, employability, the active participation of young people in the civil society, training and youth work. In particular, in relation to the seven flagship initiatives for the European contribution to the Europe 2020 strategy that aims to stimulate progress in terms of growth and employment, our project is based on the second flagship initiative “youth on the move”. The target of our project is made up of young people who lack of basic competences due to social, economic and geographical barriers. Hence, the target may include young individuals involved in training or young Neets. Developing mobility paths abroad and improving basic and transversal competences is particularly difficult for this specific target. The project had multiple objectives. First of all the project tried to develop the 8 key competences in the emotional, cognitive and social field among young low-skilled Neets while ensuring an intellectual, inclusive and sustainable growth. Moreover, one of the main objectives was to promote the mobility of young people aboard in order to increase their employability, allow them to have the same possibilities as the other young people, reduce the social gap between the different groups, acquire the fundamental international and intercultural vision for the development of life skills and guarantee the validity and the quality of these people’s employability. The project involved 15 partners belonging to 6 different countries with expertise in the fields of education, social inclusion, youth employment and in the relations with local businesses and organizations. Under a quantitative point of view, more than the 882 originally planned participants were involved. The main activities that were implemented are: -the creation of a network: contact and research of training entities, companies at the national level and training agencies able to organize and support the various steps -the development of a platform in order to manage the network and create a link between young people, social entities and businesses. -the organization of 14 multiplier events in the 6 countries involved in order to present the 2 IOs.-in the framework of the second IO, 11 creative meetings took place with the participation of young people and training managers in order to understand how to organize the mobility for the project target; creation of the content of the guide-the organization of 5 days of training on the content of the guide dedicated to youth workers and to those responsible of the aspects related to the training. -the organization of the mobility of 16 young people in order to put the methodologies into practice. The initially planned results were achieved. Under a qualitative point of view, we have created a working group and we have established a dynamic of exchanges between social entities and economic organizations in order to organize and plan mobility projects dedicated to low-skilled young people, thanks to European and national funds. The young people who participated in the mobility developed their life skills and triggered a mechanism of innovation and qualification that is reflected in the territory of origin. Finally, there has been a professional development of those who work or are active in the fields of education, training and youth through the training period that took place on the basis of the guide established within the project. The feedback that we received through the analysis of the resource sheets provided by the guide was very positive. The impact generated was both short and long-term. In relation to the short-term impact, the most important effect was the one on young people and on youth workers who participated in the mobility and in the training. For the social entities, being able to get in touch with other European organizations and to get to know other businesses willing to welcome a young NEET was fundamental. As far as the long-term is concerned, the impact mainly concerned the creation of a mechanism of development and activities production that aims to promote social inclusion and the employability of low-skilled people. Another impact to be highlighted is the one on the project partners since it allowed us to acquire further competences, to develop new collaborations and design new project proposals in order to ensure a follow-up and sustain the ongoing actions. The project results reflect the EU strategy for youth by 2027 as well as its priorities. Thanks to the instruments designed within the project, we can promote a youth work that promotes quality, innovation and the recognition of youth work in order to support the young Neets in their journey towards inclusion.
