The impact of DSS in crop protection has been constrained by regional and sectoral fragmentation of actors, inadequate testing of DSS and quantification of their benefits, DSS addressing single pests whilst farmer decisions need to account for multiple pests, and DSS which are insufficiently risk-averse. We will address these constraints and enable innovation by creating a ‘one stop shop’ delivering DSS, data, tools and resources through a pan-European online Platform and an ‘IPM Decisions Network’. The latter forming a community of users and stakeholders. Users will be farmers and advisers, and applied research or industry organisations that deliver or develop DSS. Each type of user will access the Platform via a tailored Dashboard, specific to their requirements. The project consortium brings together multi-actor participants from research, crop protection industry, ICT, meteorological services, policy, farming, advisory and extension organisations. Participants in IPM Decisions are also participants in relevant European projects and networks, enabling efficient engagement and impact. The focus will be on delivering DSS for key pests of major outdoor crops. Integrating key examples of contrasting DSS on the Platform will address urgent needs and demonstrate that the Platform has the functionality required for wide impact. Longevity of the Platform and Dashboards beyond the life of the project will be aided by minimizing the resources required to maintain and update the system, and a realistic business plan. Software, scientific publications and research data will be open access. IPM Decisions addresses all the requirements of part A of SFS-06-2018-2020. The outcomes from this project will support the EU wide demonstration farm network to be established under part B of the call.

Within the project, three exchanges of students were held in Germany, Sweden and Poland, and one exchange of professor in Greece. All three students were doctoral students, two in the Ecotechnologes study program and one in the Nanosciences and Nanotechnologies study program. Mobility in Greece was successfully completed by a Full Professor in the field of Ecotechnologies.Professor Ester Heath visited Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, for an 8-hour course in the field of Ecotechnology. Lectures were well-attended and well-accepted among students, since she shared her rich knowledge and experience in organic pollutants.A student of Ecotechnology, who visited Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich in Germany, prepared her doctoral dissertation at the Jožef Stefan International Postgraduate School, covering a wide range of knowledge, ranging from geochemistry, hydrogeology, hydrology, processing of large databases and programming, and has received additional assistance in hydrological modeling in this mobility. Collaboration proved to be an exceptional contribution to the quality of her doctoral dissertation, since the original plan for the simulation of groundwater flow was expanded. She individually simulated both the most important groundwater sources in this system. This is a hydrological model with precise spatial and temporal resolution. At the same time, the mobility contributed significantly to the development of a student's career, she visited a number of international events and learned how to work at one of the most successful universities on a global scale, she also improved both her English and German. She successfully transfered her acquired knowledge onto her colleagues in her research group and other students and professors in the Ecotechnologies study program in the framework of informal talks and high-profile defense of her doctoral dissertation. The second student of Ecotechnologies was at Malmö University in Sweden with the purpose to broaden her knowledge in different techniques of synthesis, characterization and application of molecularly imprinted polymers (MIP) and to use this knowledge to synthetize and apply a tailor-made MIP to the isolation of sertraline and its residues for their improved identification, as wastewater treatment and for the evaluation of the quality of wastewater intended for reuse. The template used was SER hydrochloride and later on SER in its free base form, transformed by a simple extraction process. The prepared MIPs showed good imprinting effects in all ratios of acetonitrile and MilliQ water. After returning home her acquired knowledge was successfully passed onto her colleagues in her research group and other students and professors in the Ecotechnologies study program via informal discussions. The Nanosciences and Nanotechnologies student was at Jagielloński University in Krakow in Poland to determine the spectrum of TIGKs surface proteins shedded by P. gingivalis proteases. In the preliminary experiments CFU of infecting P. gingivalis, amount of growth media and concentration of purified gingipains, as well as time of exposure, were established on the level, which does not affect TIGKs viability. The reaction was stopped by adding an inhibitor cocktail enriched in gingipains’ specific-inhibitors. After specific time intervals the conditioned media were collected and freeze-dried. A monolayer of TIGKs was washed and used to isolate the cell membrane. Both, the conditioned media and cell membrane fraction were subjected to proteomic analysis to define cell surface proteins, which are degraded or released into the medium by P. gingivalis proteases. After returning home her acquired knowledge was successfully passed onto her colleagues in her research group and other students and professors in the Nanosciences and Nanotechnologies study program via informal discussions.

Zaradi covida je bilo treba izvajanje projekta prilagoditi, ker je bilo težje izvajati mobilnost osebja. Zato je bila narejena prerazporeditev sredstev na mobilnosti študentov.
