The Erasmus mobility project has been carried out according to AHK's goals: - Individuality, learning new skills & job opportunities: AHK encourages students to seek out new institutions to carried out their traineeships and study. This can result in new interesting partnerships with companies and host institutions. The AHK seldom sent a group of students to the same destination, with only Salzburger Festspiele and Munchener Kammerspiele as exception. For this project it's especially the case for students of the department of special effects for film and theatre production. Internships at smaller companies can also lead to a job offer, which again happen to film and theatre students. For cultural heritage students, after their Erasmus exchange period in the 2nd or 3rd year of their bachelor, it provides a firm foundation to go further for internships in their final year in non-EER countries. We also see great benefits for our students from so called more ‘technical’ studies like special effects (Film) and theatre production; for these students, an exchange meant a great deal in broadening their horizons in regarding to (other) work ethics, and help them to improve their communication and adaptive skills.- Strengthening partnerships with relevant players: at the same time, the AHK aims to build and maintain strong partnerships with relevant players in the fields of music, theatre, dance, opera, cultural heritage, film and new media. This list includes relevant festivals and conservatories, dance schools, companies in the field of IMVFX (special effects) and major museums within Europe. The largest part of both incoming as outgoing study mobility at the AHK is carried out by the Conservatorium van Amsterdam (CvA), also the faculty with the most Erasmus institutional agreements of the AHK. 47 of the 89 Erasmus mobility took place at an EU university. For musicians it’s a common practice to take lessons from as many top teachers as possible. Also, CvA’s teachers are frequently asked to take part in selection and exams committees at partner institutions – a common way for CvA to select talents on bachelor level to come to study at master’s level at CvA. In terms of traineeships, our cultural heritage faculty scores highest, also because of their firm connections with the Flemish speaking part of Belgium. The AHK is happy to see that 17 museums welcomed our students in this project. - Curriculum development, strengthening strategic partnerships and study exchange with strategic partners/ consortia: this project has been also instrumental to support AHK’s European joint study programmes for mobility of both students and staff in the field of architecture, music and film. The interest in building partnerships with (former) east European countries has been intensified by teaching exchanges by our Academy of Architecture. The AHK applies this project subsidy to both continue existing strategic partnerships and those that are in the process of getting established. - Connection with cultural enterpreneurs: the AHK worked for the first time with incoming, invited teachers from artists and cultural entrepreneurs working in the field of film, dance and theatre, to provide teachings and training to our students. As for our outgoing students: more and more they find their way to do traineeship with artists, having the opportunity to work with them closely and in small teams, making the best out of their traineeship in terms of learning a vast variety of skills (from production, communication to promotion).- Cultural awareness and language skills: We see in the course of time that the traditionally Dutch orientated study programmes like Theatre Design, Production and Scenography starting to act slowly but more firmly internationally, with contact with for example the largest opera festival in the world, the Salzburger Festspiele, expanding the work field for our students from Dutch language (NL and Belgium) to German speaking countries. Traditionally, these students tend to stick to the Dutch speaking work field. But good practices from those returning after an traineeship or exchange has led to more confidence to take on mobility abroad.
