In todаy’s еconomy аnd sociеty, еnginееring is ubiquitous. Thеrе is аn еnginееr bеhind еvеry product аnd sеrvicе thаt wе usе or dеploy in our dаily livеs. Еnginееrs аrе cruciаl for innovаtion, for еconomic growth аnd for solving hеаlth аnd еnvironmеntаl chаllеngеs.In thе ЕU, thе еnginееring profеssion is confrontеd with structurаl chаngеs аnd skill mismаtchеs with incrеаsing gаps in trаnsvеrsаl skills, so high in dеmаnd by еmployеrs. It is а chаllеngе to ovеrcomе thе distаncе bеtwееn thе worlds of еducаtion аnd work. Officiаl ЕU policy documеnts аnd intеrnаtionаl rеsеаrch corroborаtе thosе chаllеngеs аnd idеntify а shortаgе of “sociаlly drivеn еnginееrs”, chronicаlly nееdеd to mееt ЕU tаrgеts for 2030 аnd 2050.Thе objеctivе of Е4Е is - gеаrеd by thе nеw rеquirеmеnts of thе world of work - to prеpаrе bеttеr еquippеd еnginееrs through thе аcquisition of nеw compеtеncеs, covеring nеw knowlеdgе, аttitudеs аnd lеаdеrship skills whilе focusing on digitаl, grееn, rеsiliеnt аnd innovаtivе еntrеprеnеurship. Е4Е will bridgе thе gаp bеtwееn еducаtion аnd industry, whilе opеrаtionаlising ЕU compеtеncе frаmеworks (DigComp, LifеComp, ЕntrеComp) for еnginееrs.Е4Е’s аctivitiеs, аnd thеir outputs, аrе to:1. Еstаblish thе Еnginееring Skills Council, а multistаkеholdеr ЕU plаtform for еnhаncеd diаloguе/collаborаtion bеtwееn rеprеsеntаtivеs of еducаtion, trаining, industry аnd еmployеrs2. Dеsign а monitoring mеthodology to gаugе thе dynаmics, chаllеngеs аnd opportunitiеs of thе еnginееring profеssion, culminаting in thе yеаrly Еnginееring Skills Strаtеgy3. Dеvеlop & dеlivеr thе Е4Е Curriculum, аn innovаtivе trаining for trаnsvеrsаl compеtеncеs аnd skillsWith 11 Full Pаrtnеrs аnd 12 Аssociаtеd Pаrtnеrs, Е4Е is а robust Аlliаncе, rеprеsеnting thе wholе spеctrum of VЕT, HЕ, industry. Е4Е will еngаgе аt lеаst 700 lеаrnеrs viа trаining; 1150 prаctitionеrs аnd stаkеholdеrs through thе Е4Е Roаd Show аnd Еvеnts аcross ЕU, аnd а totаl of 86.750 pеoplе through valorisation activities.

The ALDREN objectives are to achieve higher renovation rates and better renovation quality by overcoming market barriers and preparing the ground for investment. The excellence of the ALDREN solutions offered are: 1) a harmonized Energy performance rating based on the European Voluntary Certification Scheme (EVCS) verified by measurements to increase comparability, confidence and market uptake by standardized solutions (CEN / ISO); 2) associating low energy renovation with high quality indoor environments to trigger renovation and to promote health and comfort; 3) aligning market recognition of high quality with enhanced building value by financial tools and capacity building. Establishing business case for deep renovation to motivate private investment. These solutions will be integrated in a consistent, common way in a building passport to ensure the results and effective financing also in case of step by step renovation. The ALDREN coordinate and support actions bring together in ALDREN Alliance the main stakeholders involved in building renovation to specify the needs of the non-residential building sector and to organize the pilot use of the ALDREN procedure. This innovative approach to management ensures continuous feedback from stakeholders. The ALDREN actions are sound and credible. They answer a market request for common reliable tools by using the EVCS policy instrument (EPBD Art. 11(9)) and by completing it to reach the needed holistic approach for deep renovation. The impact on energy savings during the project is estimated at 30 GWh and at 1000 GWh/a after the project. The implementation and dissemination of the ALDREN procedure will use existing channels of environmental scheme operators for the pilot phase, but also for further dissemination. The ALDREN overarching outcome will be the infrastructure to enable market transformation by deep renovation driven by the business case and able to directly support the EU policies (EED, EPBD).

InCUBE brings together 23 high-profile partners and two affiliated entities from 7 European countries, envisioning to unlock the EU renovation wave through cutting-edge standardized, lean integrated processes based on 4 key pillars of innovation: 1) Industrialization: Off-site manufactured solutions including the use of robots (e.g., demolition, telescopic cranes, drilling and waste sorting), so far applied only in industrial environments, offering novel services (e.g., anti-collision, area boundary, waste tracking); 2) Novel self-RES power producing and storage technologies, products and environmentally friendly materials (e.g. low GWP-refrigerant heat pumps); 3) Digitalization: Dynamic Digital Twins of both products and buildings, utilizing immersive capturing techniques (e.g., Laser 3D scanners and Drones), digitally merging innovative manufacturing processes with BIMs, and; 4) New market entrants, organized under novel business models, to allow for increased levels of collaboration and productivity. The InCUBE Suite, integrates digital tools across all 4 pillars, enables for seamless coordination of different renovation phases while leveraging data streaming from multiple interoperable sources to accommodate tenants’ comfort and render buildings active energy nodes in the synergetic energy networks paradigm of the future. Solutions will be validated in 3 large-scale demo sites (19,100 m2, >600 residents) in 3 countries (IT, ES, NL), including a cultural heritage building. Key expected outcomes include among others: Reduction of waste streams and time needed on-site by >35%, renovation cost reduction by >30%, reduction of working time with hazardous activities by >50%, energy savings >6GWh/y (78%), GHG reductions >1,980 tCO2eq/y, achieving an energy performance gap between as-built and as-designed 2,000 users; all while accounting for social inclusion, upskilling and enhancement of women’s role in the construction industry.

The ever-increasing use of building monitoring and control systems has created an opportunity for data-driven approaches in the entire construction sector. At the same time, interaction and interoperability among data platforms remain a challenging issue. MODERATE will formalize a set of procedures and techniques that enable building owners, policymakers, facility managers, utility companies, etc., to openly share their data, gain insights, and make decisions while complying with regulations such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Moreover, MODERATE will enable uniform access to heterogeneous data sources on buildings' performance, usually dispersed in several non-interoperable data silos. Although several projects have recently emerged to address the problem of defining a modular data architecture, they lack: - A protocol for data sharing and anonymization, complying with the rules defined by the GDPR while avoiding losing the statistical properties that make them valuable. - A solution enabling data owners to openly share their datasets while profiting both economically and in terms of knowledge on their data. - A fully open platform. Commonly, most of the results (data, algorithms, software, etc.) of a project are owned by partners within the consortium, making it very difficult to use them later without their permission. MODERATE will develop an open platform, embracing leading-edge technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), blockchain/distributed ledger technologies, the internet of things (IoT), and many more. This platform will enable its users to analyze real-time building data from various building systems and provide insight into the many dimensions of a building's performance. The use of synthetic data generation techniques, not yet widely applied in the construction industry, is one of the elements that allow open data sharing, enabling more reliable services and generating business opportunities.

TripleA-reno will focus on following market barriers for deep renovation: 1The renovation market is top-down and supply-driven, with a mismatch between the offered products and packages and the end-users’ requirements 2 There is no view on the total performances in practice (energy, indoor environmental quality, health and well-being), as well as a solid quality control of the renovation process 3 After the renovation process there is a lack of data on the real building performance in practice, on energy, IEQ and health. Many European projects have addressed these barriers. The overall aim is to make acceptation and decision making on deep and nZE renovation attractive for consumers and end-users. This by clear, unambiguous and meaningful information and communication on real, proven performances on energy, Indoor Environmental Quality and personal health in practice, strengthened by consumer centred business models. TripleA-reno will achieve this aim by developing an open end-users centred gamified platform for validation and community building, The objectives are: 1. To foster new consumer and end-user centred business models, using evidence based performances that facilitate decision-making. 2. Improving performances of deep renovation by enhanced quality control, supported by targeted CPD and training, 3. Providing consumers and end-users of deep renovation projects with attractive, understandable and personalized information of realised real performance. 4. To demonstrate the benefits and evidence based solutions in live demonstration cases. 5. To roll out the results on a wider European scale by the in Triple A-Reno involved European interest groups and umbrella associations
