During the duration of the project (June 1, 2016 - July 31, 2018), LUE received 7 SMS (student mobility for studies), 3 STA (staff mobility for teaching) and 6 STT (staff mobility for training) mobilities from the BBC in Israel. Vice versa, 4 SMS, 2 STA and 2 STT mobilities were realized to the BBC, Israel. As concerns the project with the UNCC, USA, LUE welcomed 4 STA and 2 STT mobilities while 1 SMS, 1 STA and 3 STT mobilities were realized in exchange at the UNCC.The overall project aim was to support the collaboration with our two strategic partners within the field of teacher training. LUE is one of six Universities of Education in Germany and regards itself as a modern center of competence in the field of education. 75% of its students train to become teachers. Looking at the increasing diversity in German classrooms, the preparation and professionalization of future teachers in the field of diversity management is of great importance. Mobility and intercultural experience are thus very important measures in reaching this goal. Moreover, the project would like to strengthen and promote the European thought and European values.

During the project duration (1st of June 2015 and 31st of July 2017) 2 Israeli students and 2 German students spent one semester at the partner institution. Furthermore, 4 Serbian students studied for one semester at Ludwigsburg University of Education. With regard to the faculty exchange 4 Israeli and 3 Serbian lecturers were welcomed at LUE while one LUE faculty member travelled to Novi Sad. The project’s primary aim was supporting two partnerships that are of strategic relevance with regard to teacher education. LUE is one of six Universities of Education in Germany and regards itself as a modern centre of competence in the field of education. 75% of its students train to become teachers. Nowadays, teachers are confronted with a growing (ethnic) diversity in German classrooms. Mobility and intercultural experiences are thus very important and were trained during the student exchange within this project. Since the Beit Berl College unites Arab and Jewish students on one campus, it offered an excellent insight into the diversity of the Israeli society and how the education system copes with it. With regard to incoming student mobility the project objectives are linked to the teaching of German as a foreign language. Incoming students from the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad and the Beit Berl College had an excellent opportunity to improve not only the German language skills but also the pedagogy of teaching German. Furthermore, incoming students were offered the opportunity to get an insight into the way of teaching at LUE which always links theoretical knowledge with practical experience. Faculty exchange contributed to a huge extent to the internationalization at home on the campus of LUE. The faculty exchange with the University of Novi Sad was focused on an exchange between the German language departments/ the Faculty of Philosophy and helped to enrich the curricula. Serbian colleagues offered a course on contrastive linguistics and the German colleague enriched the curriculum by offering lectures in the field of standard variation in German language. The faculty exchange with Beit Berl College was more broadly based in various departments (e.g. Art, Biology, English Language Teaching). The participation of colleagues from the Arab Faculty of Beit Berl College offered a unique opportunity. It was very beneficial for students from various departments at LUE to get an insight into the diversity of the Israeli education system when Arab-speaking lecturers presented their teaching experience. Although the project had been limited to 16 participants and 8 mobilities per foreign partner university the project results are very positive. The project helped to develop best practices with regard to student exchange. LUE is one of four universities in Germany that participated in 2016 in the HRK Audit kompakt and received external expertise with regard to its internationalization strategy. The project contributed to implementing measures of internationalization at home for LUE. It helped the two international partners in expanding their capacity of working in European funding structures. Incoming students from Serbia and Israel were offered the chance of making a study experience in the European Union and feeling part of the ERASMUS+ spirit.
