The schools want to exchange their individual experiences to broaden the internationalization strategy of their schools. This project is ment for learners in vocational training at school on the one hand but also for vocational learners in the dual system on the other hand. Both groups need a different programme which we can offer. The Vocational College Herzogenrath, a certificated ""Europaschule“ since seven years, is located in the Euregio Maas-Rhine, which has five partner regions in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany and includes the three languages Dutch, French and German. This Euregio offers a lot of qualified workplaces but you need the linguistic and intercultural qualifications. To prepare young people for this special job market, the additional vocational qualification „Euregio-Competence“ has been developed in 2004. At the Vocational College Herzogenrath the learners can follow this qualification since that time and it is very successful. About 40 students receive this qualification every year. But this doesn´t only enable them for the euregional job market, it also is a plus for their application on the German labour market. A lot of companies work together with cross-border companies in the Netherlands or Belgium. And also the students have proved that they are motivated to do more than only the necessary things. But it´s not only the euregional job market we prepare the students for, they should also get first, possibly good experiences with people in different countries. Because the progamme includes vocational internships abroard, they can make those experiences. The Vocational Colleges from Düren and Eschweiler were impressed by ""Euregio-Competence“ and choose it to start an internationalization strategy at their schools. The vocational College Herzogenrath started the additional qualification ""Europakaufmann“ in the dual system and so they expect a higher number of internships in the dual system because this qualification includes an internship as well.We can exchange experiences, share the work and motivate each other. With this project we reach 80 students in the school based training and 40 in the dual system. Those young people will test and expand their language skills and make experiences in the new work environment during their 2 – 8 weeks lasting internship. But they learn something about a different way of working and different culture, too. They will learn to organise their life on their own and to handle new and sometimes strange situations. In our experience the students normally are very impressed by the people they come to know and they are getting more open towards other cultures. They are more self-imployed and more self-confident and that has a positiv effect on their social environment. The internships in the Euregio Maas-Rine are organised and handled by the teachers themselves because the workplacements are very close to the Colleges. They are in close contact with the companies in the Netherlands and Belgium as well. The internships in other European countries are organised by reliable partners. The contact between students and companies then is kept via mail.In this project we also plan mobilities for teachers. It is very important that they get a personal contact with the partners and it will motivate them to convince the students to take the chance of an internship abroard."

Because the progamme includes vocational internships abroard, they can make those experiences. The Vocational Colleges from Jülich, Düren and Eschweiler were impressed on „Euregio-Competence“ and choose it to start an internationalization strategy at their schools. The connection between the Ludwig-Erhard-College Bonn and the project manager is based on the cooperation in the context of Europeanactivities together with the EU-Geschäftsstelle in the Cologne region. Both schools want to start the additional qualification „Europakaufmann“ in the dual system and so it seemed to be reasonable to us to work together. This qualification includes an internship as well.We can exchange experiences, share the work and motivate each other. With this project we reach 147 students in the school based training and 32 in the dual system. Those yong people will test and expand their language skills and make experiences in the new work environment during their 2 – 8 weeks lasting Internship. It has the objective to sensitize all 58 governmental and 20 private vocational colleges in the region for the benefit of cross-border mobility. The EUGES gained experience in applying, implementing, coordinating and evaluating projects in different EU programs which successfully have been transferred also in the Move on! mobility project. With this project mainly vocational colleges have been supported which are at the beginning of an own strategy of internationalization. As an own mobility application is quite laborious for only few mobilities, the EUGES does the application an in addition supports the vocational colleges involved in the administration. Aside, the now terminated projects offers the possibility for all vocational colleges – especially those with own mobility projects - to use it in case of an unexpected high demand for mobility grants of VET students.During periodically meetings with the EU-coordinators of the vocational colleges we offer workshops to prepare for mobility applications and their preparation and execution. Here the teachers receive answers to their individual questions and were prepared to increase their mobilities. In addition, guidance via phone call in case of urgent problems helps the teachers involved and gives them the necessary security. In addition to the VET students’ mobilities for colleges in the introduction phase of own internationalization EUGES offers the opportunity for staff mobility to all VET colleges in the region. Teachers and trainers can start an exchange with their European colleagues, enhance their competences and plan new projects. This is a basis for a general increase of mobility activities. This kind of support is offered by EUGES for more than 10 years and it bears fruit as it can be seen in the successful “10% strategy”. This means that vocational colleges which could motivate 10% of their students or more to make an internship abroad receive the 10% certificate. In 2015 for the first time nine colleges got this award and 11 May 2017 these colleges have been re-certificated and six new ones were certificated. Not least by the support of the EUGES in the frame of the Move projects the average mobility rate doubled from less than 3% in 2010 to more than 6% in 2017.By this application for 150 participants a mobility became possible. About one third of the participants are in the dual VET training – mainly from the sectors company management and administration – the other participants are from full-time school vocational education and training respectively from the vocational preparation sector. The students made their internship partly in companies where they did a good job according to the responsible persons in the companies. They fulfilled tasks which have been agreed on before between their mentoring teachers and the receiving companies. They could prove what they had learned before, they came to know different work routines and settings in the companies and they could test and improve personal competences like the ability to work in a team and to live and work with people from a different culture. The other students have been hosted by vocational colleges in the host countries. As in other European countries vocational education and training mainly happens in vocational colleges this meant for the students that they came to know the theoretical education as well as the practical one in training classrooms respectively in companies run by the colleges. Also they had to orient themselves in an unknown surrounding and could test whether the vocational preparation from at home was useful in practice. From all reports from the participants it becomes clear that the internships have been a benefit for themselves and their vocational career. Without exception they have been appreciated from their employers/receiving companies as well as from their colleagues which is very positive for their personal development. In addition, 39 mobilities of VET teachers have been realized. The teachers used their training abroad to come to know the common teaching methods and content in their host countries and also to find agreements for further cooperation with the hosting institutions. This experience supports quality assurance of the internships and they are motivating for the future.
